Question: Hi my name is alley my husband and i have been trying to concieve my doc. put me on clomid for 3 mts but did not work im having a normal period every month but still no baby did an ultrasound and it showed dark spots in my ovaries which the doctor said was blood clots put me on provera and clomid to help me get pregnant could there be reason why im not getting pregnant?

Answer: Did you ovulate while on clomid? Was the size of the follicle 20 mm? What are the dark spots? Is it PCO ( polycystic ovaries) or do you have blood filled cysts? Also, what is your husband's semen examination result and are your tubes patent? let me know all these, so I can advice you further.

Question: My wife doesnt see her period regularly, she sees her period after three or sometimes four months interval. She is not pregnant yet. Doctor, how can she quickly get pregnant or when is her ovulation days espected?

Answer: Does she have PCO ( polycystic ovaries) ? This may give rise to irregular periods. Also, check her FSH and LH hormones on day 2 of her period and let me know the results, so I can advice you further.

Question: Hi there. I was circumcised (sp?) at the age of 6. I am by the way a (girl). I got married at the age of 18(20 now) I experienced pain great every time intercourse was performed. I always thought it was the thrush I had or my vagina was too tight from circumcision, but I got treated for the thrush and no longer have it. I also had a baby so my midwife cut me so my vagina was no longer 'tight' as i thought this was the problem. I still experience pain I have no desire to have sex in fact I don't think I've ever had an orgasm because of the pain. What do you think is wrong with me? Could I be damaged from the circumcision? (I am too shy to see a gynecologist)

Answer: Circumcision does give rise to a lot of pain during intercourse. But, now that you have had surgery done, you should be fine. I think you are still afraid of the pain during intercourse and are therefore afraid of it and therefore you do not have any desire for sex. Speak to your gynec. about it and I am sure she will be able to help.

Question: I am 29 years old and recently my Gynecologist informed me that my cervix was protruding out of my vagina. What does this mean and can it be fixed with out having a hysterectomy?

Answer: You do not need a hysterectomy. You can have a cervical repair, where part of the cervix is cut off and the loose vaginal walls repaired. However, the prolapse may return again after such a surgery. If you are above 50 and have completed your family, you can consider hysterectomy.

Question: These are the first tym i take this meds. If i take these, did i loose my bay?

Answer: You have not mentioned which medicines you are taking.

Question: I was diagnosed with endometriosis 8 years ago (age 22) and had it burned off. Since then I've been on Primolut N and haven't had a period. Two tablets at first and then increased to three tablets a day. I recently became sexually active after a number of years. At first there was a a bit of bleeding during sex. It seems that if I wait more than a week I get a very small amount of blood during sex. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do as it can be quite embarrassing? (Especially considering that I don't have one partner.) And yes, I do have protected sex.

Answer: Is your cervix is healthy. Do you have erosion or any polyp ? Let me know , so I can advice you further.

Question: I just had a pap smear as a part of the master health check up. The Gynecologist told me that the mouth of my uterus is open. My child is 3 yrs and 3 months old and I had a normal delivery after 41 weeks of the full-term baby. The doctor told me that if I go in for a second child, it could end up in an abortion. Does this mean that I can never have a second child? Please advise.

Answer: During the next pregnancy you can do tightening of the cervix at 3 months of pregnancy to prevent a miscarriage ..Certain medicines - uterine relaxants can also be given to prevent the miscarriage. . When you are pregnant, let me know, so I can advice you accordingly.

Question: I am 34 yrs old and have been having excessive bleeding with clots since 5 cycles. Have undergone USG for pelvic region and UT AV have shown a posterior wall fibroid in the uterus. Both ovaries are normal. Have been put on Loette since a month. The abdominal cramps and the bleeding havent stopped. Please advise how the medicine prescribed is helpful and if I should take any other measure. Thank you.

Answer: Loette is fine for 1 or 2 cycles. Since it is a hormone, it would be better if you avoid using it for a long time. During the next cycle, you can use dicynone or cyclokapron tablets- one tablet 3 times a day for 3 days from the first day of the period. If you have pain, use cataflam twice a day from the second day for 3 days. Let me know how that period is, so I can advice you further. Also, repeat the scan after 3 months (of the first scan ) and let me know the difference in the size of the fibroid.

Question: I had irregular period almost 6 months back, which was after 2 yrs of having my last irregular period..Now we are planning for a baby and having intercorse for last 4 months.... I have got my last period on 18th May and still haven't got for this month.. I am also getting the early sympoms of pregnancy.. When I checked it at home on 21st June and it was negative...could you please tell me am I pregnant or is it too early to detect the pregnancy?

Answer: I was on holiday , so I have not been able to answer your question earlier. Hope you must have got a period by now. If not, and you are not pregnant, have an ultrasound done to check whether you have an ovarian cyst.If you have got a period, have an ultrasound done on day 12 of the period to see whether your "eggs" are growing well. Let me know, so I can advice you further.

Question: Hi Doctor, I have had a miscarriage on the 7th week of pregnancy last year. After that we tried for last 2 months and when we were not able to conceive consuklted a doctor. We had many tests and HSG and hysteroscopy done and everything was normal. However, doctor has advised me to takle Letroze 2.5 for 5 days from D3 - D7 of my period. Please let us know if it is ok to take letroze because it seems to be a banned medicine in US and Canada and seems o have side effects.

Answer: Though letrezole is not officially recommended for ovulation induction, many doctors are using it . If you are not ovulating or conceiving with clomid (clomiphene) even after 3-4 cycles of treatment, many doctors prescribe letrezole.

Question: I am 26 yrs, took Novelon for 2 years after marriage as contraception. Am trying to conceive since last 2 yrs but has been unsuccessful. Question: Dear Doc!My sister is around 38yrs and has two kids 13 and 6yrs through caesaerean section. Recently she spotted small lumps in both her breasts and went in for mammography. Although the doctors have assured her that there is nothing to fear she has been put on tabs (Evion 1500mcg - MERK)since the last two months. Since then she has also missed her periods, before that her periods had been very regular. pregnancy test shows negative. could the tablets be a cause? The dosage also seems strong, will there be any side effects? Doctor please advice! Thanks!

Answer: Evion would not cause any delay in the periods, but stress can. Ask her not to worry since the mammogram report is normal. If she still has not got a period, have an ultrasound done to determine whether she has an ovarian cyst which can cause the delayed period.

Question: Hello Doc! I am 31yrs old and married since the last 3 yrs. I have been diagonised with polycystic ovaries and hv been putting on weight rapidly.I am 78kgs now. Although i have been advised to reduce weight my efforts have not been very successful though I do brisk walking on the treadmill. previously I had been on Diane35 for long almost 12 months (ie first 6 mths and then another 6 months after a gap of 2 months). I have been off the pill since Jan and have been trying to conceive. I used to have a history of exccess bleeding and missing periods at times. Doc, how long will it take for me to conceive? wl brisk walking disrupt my chances of getting pregnant? Doc pls advice. Thanks

Answer: Diane would cause an increase in weight. PCO is associated with irregular periods and a tendency to put on weight. Continue your walking and diet . Have an ultrasound done on day 12 of the period to determine that you are ovulating well.
