Question: During 1st trimester my wife told me she had brown type jelly discharge once during urination her doctor suggested her aspirin a tablet a day... She had high prolactin level before pregancy which was treated hope fully and had one miscarrage year ago Thanks

Answer: Brown discharge is indicative of bleeding. have you done a recent scan? Is the placenta low or is there a fibroid in the uterus? Both these may cause bleeding .Also, has her cervix been checked? Infection of the cervix can also cause bleeding sometimes.

Question: Dear Doctor, We have been married for 3 years. My wife is suffering Fromm PCOD. Also, Cramps during starting of menstrual period. Weight is 2kg below normal (48kg). Mild Acne problem. Did all routine tests & treatment in Kerala. Since 2 months in Kuwait with me. On Diamet treatment- twice daily. Normal menstruation on 30th March. Now, since 3 days she has mild irregular cramp sensation but no menses. Also abnormal Gas trouble. Is it time for pregnancy test? Should she continue Diamet? Please advise.

Answer: Do a urine test for pregnancy. This usually comes positive within 2 days of the missed period. Also, check by the clear plan ovulation test whether she is ovulating or not. If not, she might require other medication like clomid, for which you would need to see a gynec.

Question: Hello Dr., I am 23 years old and have had irregular periods all my life. In November 2006 i was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and put on Aldactorone/Spironaltone as well as birth control. I have noticed some difference in hair growth (it decreased) and think its great to have a regular, predictable period, i do notice that when i don't have my period there is this clear odorless discharge but there is so much of it. It's not a drop but like two teaspoons worth of this liquid. And my underwear is wet throughout half the day and its kind of uncomfortable being so wet. Is this normal? Is there something more to this? I am currently hooking up with a guy and although we are not having sex...is it bad if he performs oral sex on me? Should i just report this to my gynecologist? This happened before i was on birth control this discharge too.

Thanks So Much,
Alex

Answer: You need to do a vaginal smear and a culture and sensitivity test to determine the type of infection you have and what would be the most appropriate treatment.

Question: My husband (33) and I (35), have one daughter, which was conceived naturally within only two months (I was 33 at the time). When she was about13-14 months old we started trying for baby #2. At about month 6, we started clomid (per OBGYN) only 25mg, after two months of no results, I called a specialist because of my age, I did not want to waste time. In January we went in for a consult and 1st exam, and he determined that I had a short luteal phase that could be easily treated. My husband was tested and all his tests were good (mobility, count, shape etc). In February, we started our first month of monitored treatments and he saw 3 good eggs (I was on 50mg of clomid, ovidrel then progesterone (to prolong phase)). We did not get pregnant that month and decided that we would try IUI in March. All was well day 3 of my cycle to start clomid at 50mg again, then I went in on day 13 to get the green light for ovidrel and to schedule my IUI and they stopped everything because I had produced too many eggs Please advise.

Answer: You might need a shorter dose of clomid. Try taking clomid from day 5 of the cycle for 3 days. Have a scan done on day 8 of the cycle. You have not mentioned how many eggs you had formed and their sizes on day 13 of the cycle ( when the IUI was not done). If you form 2-3 eggs around 18 mm, you could go ahead with the cycle , bearing in mind that multiple pregnancies might occur. Let me know, so I can advice you further.

Question: I noticed that I have these tiny redish brown bumps(more red).there is only like 5 of them and i have ben sick with a fever of 100.9-103.7 for about 4 days now(it started friday & now its tuesday)do you think i am sick because of the bumps? and can you please tell me what th bumps are from?(i have never had intercourse)

Answer: You will need to see a doctor for this,as it is difficult to decide what the "bumps" are without seeing them.

Question: Are you taking duphaston throughout the cycle or only in the latter part of the cycle? IM TAKING IT FROM CD 11 TO CD 25 >>>>>>

You have not mentioned whether you are ovulating or not. This can be checked by an ovulation predictor test . THANK YOU IM NOT SURE IF I AM OR NOT BUT AM CHECKING THIS WAY >>>>

My LMP was 9th Feb. I had brown spotting for 12 days starting on CD35 and on CD 47 I found some red blood and it turned to brown again, I also have pcos, what could be happening with me Dr?

Answer: You should take duphaston only after you ovulate. So,it is necessary to check when you are ovulating - by the LH ovulation test or ultrasound. The spotting could have been due to pregnancy. Did you do the pregnancy test ? Also, do you have an ovarian cyst or a fibroid?

Question: Dear Doctor ( Urgent!!!), My wife (aged 33 years) had 2 missed both exactly in 6th to 7th week of preganancy. We both has gone through all the tests prescribed by various doctors eg. VDRL, Thyroid, chromosomal annalysis(kareo type) & all the reports suggest everything normal. My wife's PRL generally shoots till 38-40 ng/ml during non-pregnancy, she took cabglobin, B-crip, but when the PRL got normal the doctors suggested to leave taking medicines & plan again, but again in 2 months neither she conceived & again her PRL has gone high. Please advise / suggest to diagonose the root cause of this & a perfect treatment for this. I will be highly obliged to you.

Answer: Have you done her Toxo IgM and ACA blood tests ? Which city are you in ? Let me know, so I can advice you further, depending on the medication available in your city.

Question: Hello doctor, I am 28 yrs, married 1 year 9 months from the past one and half year I am trying to conceive. First time when I went to see a gynecologist, she did an ultrasound and said in my right ovary cysts are there and she gave me treatment and the problem solved. after that she started giving me treatment with tablets siphene 50 mg, cabdelc for five months in between she did follicular test and said i am not releasing my egg properly. After that my husband got transfer and we left that place and did not have any treatment for 3 months. Again i have seen a new gynecologist and showed my previous reports. Since 3 months i am taking treatment, but not getting any result. She started with siphene 100 mg, dexona 0.5 mg, diamet R, doxypal for the first month and she did semen analysis of my husband and it was normal. i am getting regular periods. in the second month she asked me to continue the same tablets. She did a follicular study in the second month of treament at my 11th cycle day, right ovary 18 x 17.9 mm an

Siphene 100 for 5 days
Metformin tablets thrice a day for 1 month
Ebexid twice for 10 days.
After the 10 th day she asked me to take Buscopan twice a day for 5 days and after that neogest 200 to insert vaginally every night for 10 days.

I started the above treatment now.
After undergoing this much treatment, is there any chance for me to become mother. If i am not success this time, what step shall i take this time?

Thanks,
With regards
Vidya

Answer: You seem to be forming eggs- so that is fine. Once the egg is 18 or 20 mm , was an injection given ( like pregnyl) to release the egg? Also, are your tubes patent? let me know,so I can advice you further.

Question: I am 28yrs old and i have a 4yrs old daughter. i got periods in 28days but i had heavy bleeding. I consulted a GP and she prescribed PAUSEMF tablet. After taking that tablet periods is stopped completely. again when will it start? will it be over bleeding? I took only one tablet.

Answer: Pause MF would cause the bleeding to stop or reduce. You should get your next period around the same date. However, have you done an ultrasound to rule out that you do not have a fibroid or an ovarian cyst?

Question: Hi doctor, i got married in Jan. 2005. N since 1 year i m trying to conceive. I m 24 yr old. My periods were irregular. Three months before i consulted gyane n she gave me duphaston tablet for starting my periods.i got my period on 25/12/2006. i had clome tablets from d6 to d10.on my 15th day she gave me premarin .625mg when size was 7mm.again on day 17 when size was 9mm she gave me hcg. But it didnt ovulate. Then again she gave me duphaston for getting my periods. i got my period on 28/1/2007. i took clome from d2 to d6. She gave me hcg on day 16 n i ovulated on day 18.we were together also during ovulation peroid but i failed to concieve. Again i repeated same procedure during my third cycle. This time also i ovulated but failed to conceive. i got my period again this time my date is 3dr aprail. now doctor has given me letroz 2.5mg. Doctor plz helps me. We r trying for baby. Can u plz tell me reason why i m not conceiving even when i m ovulating every time. Even my husband's seimen analysis report is normal. plz help..

Answer: Are your tubes normal? Have you done a PCT ( post- coital test)? This would determine whether the sperms are staying alive in the cervix. If they are not, you might require IUI ( intra- uterine insemination ). There are various reasons for failure to conceive, even though you have ovulated. This could be because the egg was not picked up by the tube, the sperms died in the cervix, fertilisation did not take place or implantation did not occur.

Question: I just frequently have my period a week ago and I was out of birth control last month and i didn't have sexual intercourse. Now i just started to have a brown discharge what could this be?

Answer:  This could be a period which is scanty.

Question: Hi doc, I have written in before and u has replied. But now i am having some queries on my end, I am coming to 31 yrs old this year, and i have pcos. I have undergone laproscopy and even 4 iui but to no avail. My doc put me on clomid for almost a yr plus but the problem w clomid is that the cervical mucus is thick. And doing iui is tedious as my cervix is tight. My doc suggests me to carry on clomid but i feel that there is no point doing so and the clomid kind of hav some side effect on me. I consulted her again and she says she is reluctant to start me on metformin as clomid does help me ovulate. My hubby sperm test is relatively ok though it may be not the good type.

My queries:
1) Does metformin cause your cervical mucus to be thick?
2) Is it true that takin too much clomid will cause harm to the body?
3) Laproscopy did prove that I am all-fine except pcos. Do i need to do a blood once every few month to determine any changes in me?
4) I have thought of seeking traditional Chinese method and will this cause any problem?

Pls help, as I don't really knw what to do.
Thanks

Answer:

1) Clomid makes the cervical mucus thick- not metformin.
2) As long as your ovaries are not getting unduly enlarged, clomid is fine.
3) No.
4) I have no experience with Chinese medication.

I think, if your tubes are absolutely normal, try 2-3 cycles of IUI and if not, try IVF. All the best!

Question: Hi I am 32 yrs & having 4 yrs son.from 6 months before my periods actually starts I get red discharge (instead of white) for one or two days.last month i tried to become pregnant.after 5 days of delay in my periods I got same red discharge for 2 days and didn't get periods and after 2 more again once I got red discharge.am i pregnant? Is this normal?

Answer: Do a urine test for pregnancy. If negative, this is your period. Have a vaginal examination done to rule out any vaginal or cervical infection or polyp. These may also give you spotting prior to the period.

Question: Hello Doctor, I am 23 years old-married. We use Kamasutra male condoms while having sex. After having sex and while removing the condom, his semem and fluid fell on my vagina lips's..I am not sure whether the semens ran down into my vagina or not?
I am just worried. Whether i will get pregnant. While I don't want to?
Please suggest me some precaution tips on what should i do?

Regards,
Tina

Answer: You may not be able to do anything now. In the future ( if this occurs again ) contact your gynec immediately as some courtiers have post- coital pills which , if taken within 72 hours, may prevent pregnancy. However, you should be aware that this is not 100 % reliable, so it is better to use a contraceptive pill in the future.

Question: Last month my cycle started on the 1st and ended on the 5th the normal five days, then it started again on the 19th lasted the normal 5 days i have had unprotected sex since then when should i take a pregnancy test?

Answer: On the 5th or 6th . If negative, repeat on the 20th.

Question: What happens if you get pregnant straight away after having a section?

Answer: Your scar is still " weak ". So , you need to check with your obstetrician regarding the other factors associated with its healing, which would be different in different women.

Question: Had tubal sterilization 8 years ago that is when problem started. Irregular bleeding etc. Suspect endomitrosis. Period was 3 days late last month then spotted for a few days cycle felt different. Did a pregnacy test that came back negative. But in the past week very hard bloated stomach, feeling sick slight backache., sharp pain comes and goes at bottom of stomach. Went to walk in clinic, doctor said stomach very tender but could not tell me why..Can you put me mind at rest?

Answer: You need to do an ultrasound to rule out a cyst or a fibroid. Also, the pelvic examination would reveal whether you have a vaginal or cervical infection .Let me know the results, so I can advice you further. Irregular bleeding alone is not indicative of endometriosis. This can be confirmed only on ultrasound or a laparoscopy.

Question: Hi Doctor, I am a 23-year-old female. I am writing because I'm a little worried about bumps that have appeared around my genital areas. Never more than one at a time and it seems to me that it's a pimple, not blister at all but feels like almost a mosquito bite and is a bit red. It dosent bother me at all but at times feels like a pimple would when touched...I am not or have never been sexually active. I go to the gym and am a competitive soccer player and I tend to sweat alot and was wondering if this is causing the "pimples," its never more than one and never in the same area. Should I see a doctor? As well even though a women is not sexually active should she have and see a gynecologist anyways??
Maria

Answer:
You will need to see a doctor for this,as it is difficult to decide what the "bumps" are without seeing them. They could be due to the sweating . Use cotton panties, as they tend to absorb the sweat. Also, use bactroban ointment twice a day for 5 days. If the problem persists, see a doctor. You do not need to go to a gynecologist unless you have problems with your periods or have a vaginal discharge. However, it would always be a good idea to have an ultrasound done to rule out the presence of a fibroid or an ovarian cyst, which sometimes does not give any symptoms.

Question: Hi doct, i hv low sex feeling even during intercourse,,i hv been trying to conceive since 5 yrs.my eggs is not healthy n during ovalutaion i never becom wetn sticky,as i heard wen evalution the sticky discharge coming out..Wat shuld i do to make my eggs healthy n pwerful.

Answer: How have you checked whether you ate ovulating or not ? Have you done an ultrasound on day 13 of the cycle? What has been the size of the follicle? Let me know, so I can advice you further.

Question: My wife is 37 years old, having bad gynic history. We are having 1 dauthger 12 yrs old, IUGR, breach. There are 4 mis carriages in the 7-month, with IUD. The doctor is giving syphene for 5 days for the past 6 months. Doctor is telling that the folicle size is not increasing beyond 13x8mm and hence cannot give injection for rupturing. she is also telling that folicle growth is less. She wants one more baby. Hence, kindly advise us at the earliest.

Answer: Sorry to hear about your problems. The dose of the siphene can be increased in the next cycle and if the follicle is not growing at 2 mm a day, injections like humegon, gonal-f , merional or fostimon can be given. Regarding the IUDs, have the following tests been done : Toxo IgM, ACA, thyroid profile? Let me know the results, so I can advice you further. Which city are you in ?

Question: My wife missed her first period and we found that she was pregnant and due to certain circumstances, the decision was made to abort. The doc advised on some pills, which she took, 45 mins later she vomited. The bleeding started, but we were unsure if the tablets came out as well. That was on March 16th. The doc says that everything is fine, and that the bleeding will stop in a few days. 10 days later it still hadn't stopped. so the doc advised a sonography. It was then found that there was a blood clot. Then on the 2nd April the Doc advised her to take a tablet 'Pause MF' to stop the heavy bleeding and that if it doesn't work my wife has to do a DNC. My wife took the tabs. Now she feels bloated and that heavy feeling of wanting to urinate. The Doc now advises a sonography again and then if needed a DNC. Now the Question is about what to do?? We really don't want her to do a DNC or anything that will mess up her chances of conceiving again properly. We're both scared about it. So what are the proble

Thanks and Regards, awaiting your reply.
Rudolph.

Answer: Have a blood test done- beta hcg. If this is negative, then most of the fetal tissue has come out and she may not require a D & C. Have you been given antibiotics ? Let me know , so I can advice you further.
