Question: Dear doctor, I delivered my daughter on the 10th of June 2006 via normal delivery. my periods were always regular before pregnancy. my periods returned 4 months after delivery (Oct 2006) and ever since its been on time. but in January 2007, two weeks after my periods, I got spotting. brown discharge cam and went till periods. again in Feb. 2007, 2 weeks after periods, same problem.. I checked with my gynae and she said there's no polycysts or any other problem but she saw a pod fluid durin scan and gave me alni allergic tabs for 1 week ( flagyl and another tab)...she asked me to continue with yasmin tablets for 3 months to regularise my periods. when we went ot the pharmacy to buy yasmin, the guy said its an oral contraceptive. i want a second child though not so fast. but i dont want an oral contraceptive. we're careful otherwise itself. please, advice me.

Answer: Periods can be irregular while you are breast feeding. Do you have a cervical erosion or polyp ? This can cause the spotting. Question: Dear Doctor. currently I am in Germany. I am 29 year old and since 4 months we are trying for a baby. but on Feb 27 2007 I had ultrasound of my uterus and again today March 27 doctor once again did ultrasound of uterus. according to my doctor I am diagonised with Endometrial polyp. ( I mean uterus walls are thicker right). so doctor is asking me to do Curettage? this mean D&C rt? but my question is going for D&C is safe?will it not create any problems for me to get pregnant? since this is my first chance for trying for baby?doctor I want to have 2nd opinion from you before I go for D&C. doctor please advice me and help me to make a correct decision? Answer: Do you have endometrial hyperplasia(increased thickness ) or a polyp. Polyp may not come out during a D & C and might require a hysteroscopy. Let me know the complete report of your scan, so I can advice you further. Also, repeat a scan on day 5 of the period to see whether this thickness is reduced. Are you ovulating ? This could have been determined when you did a scan . If done around the 12 the day of the period, a follicle would have been seen.

Question: Between period time, i always feel much pain in my left leg only. No pain in right leg. What would be the cause for that pain. I'm very much tired with this pain. I feel dengerous pain in my whole left leg during period time (4 to 5 days) only.

Answer: Pain in the abdomen , back and legs is common during periods. However, have a scan done to rule out the presence of a fibroid or an ovarian cyst. Also, do an X- ray of the lower spine to rule out any problem there which can cause the leg pain. If both are normal, you do not require to do anything else except take pain - killers during 3 days of the period.

Question: Doctor, I have PCOS and is advised to take daily Hyponidd-4 nos, Syphene-1(D2 to D6) Folic acid-1, and walphage 500 along with injection on 10th day after periods and told that i have ovulated. My husbands count is 15 million. what will be the chances to conceive.

Answer: Hyponid is an ayurvedic preparation which I have not used, so I will not be able to comment on it. Send me the complete semen report, as his count is low, so he might benefit by some treatment. Also, how are your tubes ?

Question: I am 24f, married before 2 year. Since my marriage i donot have regular periods, i am under medication for the past 2 years. Now my doc has asked me to use Ovofar(5-10day) and 2 tablets of Barkeit(11-15day), I wish to know what are the problem i have and if when i can have a baby?
 

Answer: Can you let me know the active ingredient in barkeit as I am not aware of it.Do you have PCO ( polycystic ovaries )? This would have been determined by scan. Are you ovulating with the ovofar? Let me know, so I can advice you further.

Question: I am 32 weeks pregnant and developped a severe itch over my entire body in the past 3 weeks. I have been to the emergency department and they tell me it's due to high levels of progesterone. Should I be concerned. I have read journals that suggest Down syndrome, premature birth and others that say nothing at all. And what can I do to suppress the itch? It's so bad at times it make me so crazy I can't stand being in my own skin. Thanks for any advice.
 

Answer: You have to be seen by a dermatologist to determine what this is. Dryness and stretching of the skin during pregnancy can also cause or increase the itching.

Question: Dear Dr. my last period was on 22.02.2007,after taking clomid from the 2nd day of my period for 5 days, I got my periods on 26.03.2007 again with brown discharges which stayed for 2 days and stopped what is the reason for this I am confused I don't know what to do my cycle is for 26-28 days.
 

Answer: Sometimes periods maybe scanty after clomid or other medication.If you have still not got a period, do a urine pregnancy test.

Question: I am in early thirtes and not married. Recently tried to have penetrative sex a couple of times spread over a few days, whch was extremely painful and had to give up midway. Pl advise
 

Answer:  You need to see a gynecologist for this who can examine you and advice you accordingly.

Question: Dear doctor, On the day that my period was due my partner's condom slipped off into me. I took the postinor 2 tablets 2 days after that episode. My period is now 5 days late and the home pregnancy yielded negative results. Is it possible that I am pregnant? Does postinor delay one's period?
 

Answer: If you still have not got a period,repeat the urine test. If negative, do a blood test- beta hcg to ensure that you are not pregnant..

Question: My age is 29 & my first pregnancy was an absortion, now I am 5 months pregnant & i am 49 kgs only, my stomach doesnt show up, baby growth is around 250 grams. i want to wht baby will grow or not? everyone is scaring me that ur baby's growth is less so it will not conceive properly. kindly help me
 

Answer: Are you putting on half a kilo every 15 days? If yes, then that is adequate weight gain. is the growth of the baby corresponding to the age of gestation. Let me know the complete scan report, so I can advice you accordingly and also the rate at which you are increasing your weight.

Question: I am 32 years old. I have a 5 1/2 year old daughter. We have been planning for a second child since last may. From past two months, I have been on ovulation treatment. I was given siphene50 mg to start with and last month , I was given 100 mg dose. Also Humog injection. But the eggs [ 6 of them ] formed were measuring around 8.3mm, 7.1mm, 6mm [3 no's ] respectively. What are the chances of conception ? Also my periods are regular at 29 days. My hormonal tests show a normal result. Inspite of all these, how can one know if there is any block in the tubes ? Or should I wait for a few more months ? Also I have been advised by my doctor that this month I should take siphene 150 mg dosage. Please advise.

Answer: The follicles( eggs ) should be around 18-20 mm before they can rupture. You would need to increase the dose of siphene and injections during the next cycle. regarding tubes, this cannot be determined by a routine ultrasound. You would require to do a hysterosalpingography or laparoscopy for that.

Question: I've been going back infourth to my doctor trying to get of the fishy oder,my doctor give me pills but it comes back no std just bv my husband wont go get check how do i keep the smell gone, I'm very clean down there.
 

Answer: Have a vaginal smear and culture and sensitivity test done . let me know the result. in the meantime , wear cotton panties. Also, you can use seba - med intimate lotion to cleanse the vulva.

Question: Hi last month was our first time trying for our 4th baby i had implomon in for 15mths had it removed begining of febuary,had first period 8th march timed everything bought ovulation kit was spot on with everything,was just wanting to know if 8 days after intercourse is to early to tell(i did test it came up neg) i'm inpatient thanks

Answer: One usually ovulates 15 days prior to the next cycle.Thus, if you have a 23 day cycle, you may ovulate on the 8th day. The best way to determine that would be to do a scan on day 8 of the cycle and repeat it every 2-3 days till the follicle size is 20 mm.

Question: Is it safe going in two-wheeler, for 7-8 Km daily, while trying to have baby. I am 28, married for 2 yrs.My cycle has always been long [35-40days]. In Nov & Dec 2005 i missed my period. After taking meperate i got it in Jan 2006. For 1 year periods were fine but again in Nov & Dec 2006 i missed them. After taking meperate again i got them in Jan 2007. Again I missed them in Feb & got it end of March i.e approx 60 days. Ultrasound shows prominent stroma in ovaries though rests of the reports were fine including the hormone tests. Doctor suspected PCOS & gave me medicine Duphaston from 16 day of beginning of period for 10 days OR asked me to take siphene as i want to conceive. She suspected I am not ovulating Please guide & let me know the treatment to take which is safe for my health & planning family also.
 

Answer: There is no problem with a two- wheeler before you are pregnant . Do a scan on day 11 of the period and let me know the size of the follicle., so I can advice you further.

Question: My LMP was Jan19,2007. I didn't have my period by Feb and had pregnancy symptoms. On Mar12,I tested negative on a urine preg test. An OB checked me and she instructed me to take duphaston for 5 days because she wasnt sure if i was pregnant or not. On Mar19, I had menstruation but for only 3days. A small tissue came out and gave it to my OB for biopsy. She said its just a tissue due to menstruation. I still have pregnancy sypmtoms up to now. I went for a TVS and BHCG but were all negative. So my OB said that I'm not pregnant. My tummy is still big and sometimes i feel very slight movements. How come I still have pregnancy symptoms up to now? Sometimes I am nauseated. Am i pregnant?

Answer: All your tests indicate that you are not pregnant. Do you have constipation or abdominal distention due to " gas " ? The " movement " you feel could be due to "gas ".

Question: My ultrasound showed polycystic ovaries.i've been experiencing abdominal heaviness and bloatedness and i am worried of ovarian cancer.my lab works are all normal except that i have slight increase in testosterone level and inverted hormonal ratios.at times, i have slight spotting or discharge ( i can't really determine).i want to know if these symptoms are with the PCOS or suggestive of ovarian ca. please enlighten me.
 

Answer: This seems like PCOS.You do not need to worry about ovarian cancer.

Question: I am 27 yr old & tying to conceive.i had my last period on 17th feb. I have missed period for 2 weeks now , Negative blood & urine test. My periods had been regular till we started to try conceiving. I am having lots of clear white discharge till last week & now it is very iitchy & hurting.Please advise what could a no period & discharge indicate..
 

Answer: You can use gyno pevaryl combipack for the itching and discharge. If you have not got your period yet , have an ultrasound done to rule out an ovarian cyst.Do you have PCO( polycystic ovaries ) ?

Question: Hi doctor, Please write to me immediately. I have a three-year-old kid. Now i am planning for a second kid. My prolactin levels were high (60.3). I was treated with cabgolin. Now my prolactin levels are normal but my progesterone is only 0.57.My last lmp was Feb 23rd till now i haven't got my periods. Why i am getting this harmonal imbalance. I didn't any problem all these years.when consulted i was ask to take deviry 5mg for 6days and fertyl 100mg fromthe 2nd day of my periods for 6days and i was asked to take a follicular scan on DAy12, D14, D16.is it required to take all these or i can wait for my periods to come naturally?
 

Answer: A low progesterone on day 22 of the period indicates that you did not ovulate during that cycle. if you still have not got a period, take the deviry. let me know the results of the scan after taking the fertyl . All the best !
