Answer: The follicle usually ruptures when it is 18-20 mm, so you will be fine . It usually grows at 2 mm a day. All the best !

Question: If I began taking Triquilar before my menstrual cycle begans will this affect my cycle? Is it possible that it'll make me miss my period or delay it?
 

Answer: Are you already on triquilar ? If yes, you have to take it 7 days from the last tablet for it to be effective. If you wish to delay a period, you have to continue a second packet of triquilar till the desired date. You need to discuss this with your gynec. with the exact dates for it to be effective.

Uterus: Normal size 70*46*31 mm.Myotrium is normal.Endometrium is normal in thickness and midline.
Overies:Both ovaries are mildly enlarged in size and shows multiple small sonulent area.
Right - 46*17 mm and left 46*20 mm.
Impression : PCOD.
Doctor asked me to take regestrone 5 mg tables for 3 days for getting periods.
But still I dint get my periods.
Can u tell me whts the problem and wht diet I should follow for pcod?
Will there be laser surgery done for removing the cyst in throat?
 

Answer:  Since your thyroid hormone levels are normal and if the size of the goitre is not increasing, you do not need surgery now. Regarding your period- women with PCO have irregular periods. You should get a period within 5-7 days of stopping the regestrone. If you are overweight, you should follow a low calorie, low fat diet and exercise. Losing weight may help regularise your periods.

Question: Hi Doctor, I ahve PCOS and my weight is 69kgs.In Feb 2005 I got conceived through treatment and it has turned up as Ectopic and my Gync did laproscopy and removed it and said that both the tubes are patent.In Sep2005 again i got concieved and it ended up in missed abortion this is also medically conceived and it was medically removed without D&C.Thirdly in July 2006 i concieved which was natural conception and initally doctor identified the Foetal hartbeat after a week it is fainted and it has ended up in missed abortionwhich was removed by D&C.Now agian i am going for FI and I didnot take any tablets now the follicle size is 2.1X2.1 and endometrium is 11.My question here is if my dominant follicle is rupture doesit mean that i will ovulate and there is possibility to concieve. Answer: Sorry to hear about your ectopic and missed abortions. Your follicle size is fine and it should rupture spontaneously. Check on ultrasound and if it has not, you may require pregnyl injection next time. All the best !

Question: Dear Doc. I am 33yrs. old married and have two kids. My problem is that I had my last period on 1st Jan.2007 and after that I have not had any. I have undertaken 3 pregnancy tests with a period gap and all of them are negative. I have past medical history of PID (3.5yrs ago). Answer: Have an ultrasound done to rule out an ovarian cyst. If that is normal, check your thyroid and prolactin hormones. Let me know the results, so I can advice you further.

Question: Dear Doc, I have 28 days cycle of my period every month and married since 1 year.After marriage we didn plan for kid till 6 month after that my husband stop using condom. I had regular period in the 1st month after he stop the protection but in the next month that is in Oct 2006 i started getting craming like pain in my 20th day it last till 6 days and then i got my period in 26 days.But i felt this was not my usual period since i use to have period pain in 1st two days of my periods and 28 days cycle and i observed in this cycle that the movement i got my period there was no pain at all.Since my bleeding last for 5 days i forgot the issue but after 10 days of my periods suddnly i started bleeding again in small clot and kind of black discharge as per doc advise we did Beta HCg test which came positive that was 1183mlu. Doc did scan but she cudn find any thing in my utrus and she told me that may it was a preganncy and i have aborted already. But she cudn tell me any thing for sure. She has asked me not to concieve in another 3 months so my husband started using condom again till JAN 2007 and in Feb he stoped it again.But in this cycle i had like a brownish discharge for 2 days but was not bleeding i went to doc again and she did scan then she told that this is my period time only and i ll bleed may little late. after a day i started bleeding very havily and which didn stip for 10 days. i went to her again then she prescribed me to take Pause MF twice a day for 2 days and duphaston tablets twice in day for 15 days along with a tablet of folic acid. Since i am 28 years old i want to have baby and even my family is waiting for this.the doc said that duphaston tablets will help me for pregenancy.I want to know Doctor taht what was the Oct issue which has happened with me and doc cudn tell me anything for sure and does the medicine prescribed by my doc ll help me for concieving.Pls doc help me i want a kid.

Answer: Please let me know the ingredient in Pause MF , as it is not available in Oman. Duphaston and folic acid are fine. You have not mentioned whether you are pregnant now or not. Also, what happened to the pregnancy in October? Was it an ectopic pregnancy ( in the tube)? Did the hormone level fall with medication or without?

Answer: What are your recent thyroid hormone levels? The dose of the thyroxine should be monitored by that. Have an ultrasound done on day 12 of the period after taking the fertyl. This will determine when you are ovulating and which is your most fertile period.

Answer: Sorry to hear about your cyst.You have not mentioned the size of the cyst and whether this was also present just after a period ? Has the size of the cyst reduced after homeopathic treatment ? if your tubes are normal and you are ovulating, you should conceive.

Answer: Depo provera does give rise to irregular periods , so the bleeding could be due to that . However, have a urine examination done to determine whether you have any urinary infection, and take treatment accordingly.

Question: Hi, I had my first ivf treatment and am pregnant. But am very worried about Cyclogest (progesterone) suppositories. I have read conflicting reports but am worried about the cancer risk. I have had cervical cancer in the past (7 years ago has been clear since). Am also worried about the breat cancer risk as well as cervical. I am on 400x 2 each night for 12 weeks. Can you help me?
 

Answer: Cyclogest is safe. You have mentioned you have had cervical cancer. What stage was it and what was the treatment given. Please send me the complete report of that. I do not think there is sufficient evidence to show that cyclogest is associated with an increase in cervical or breast cancer. Since this pregnancy is very " precious ", I think you should continue the cyclogest upto 12 weeks. All the best !

Answer: Do a urine test for pregnancy. regarding conceiving, what is the value of your FSH and LH hormones done on day 2 of the period? Also, are you ovulating ? This can be determined by doing a scan on day 12 of the period. If you are not, you might require certain drugs like clomid to help you conceive. Let me know, so I can advice you accordingly.

Question: I am trying to get pregnant. I have regular 28-29 day cycles with ovary pain consistantly in the middle of the month, thanks to Metformin for PCOS. I used an ovulation predictor test starting on day 11. Today is day 14 and it has come back negative every day. Is it possible that I am not ovulating even though I feel ovary cramping and soreness for 1-2 days every month?
 

Answer: The best way to determine ovulation is by doing a scan and determining the size of the follicle. The ovulation predictor test is often unreliable. You could be ovulating after day 16 and therefore the test is negative.

Question: doc, this really bother me for almost 5 years since i got confined in the hospital for bleeding almost a month year 2002.since i got my first period wen i was only 11 y.o., i always had an irregular menstruation.wen i got my period on that month it was heavy and then after next month it was very light.wen i was 14, i also got confined in the hospital for bleeding a lot but wen i got my treatment( it's a pill i forgot the name doc) i took it for 5 mos.,my period goes normal until 2002 (i'm 19 at that year) wen it goes agaim for irregularity.it's heavy again.i had other ob-gyne who monitored me.she gave me provera but after 3 months i guess my period did'nt come for 2 mos so she gave me primolut N. until now i didn't got my period if i don't take bleeding progesterone like primolut or provera.last nov 2006 i have my test for hormones like T3,T4,prolacin,FSH & TSH and it came out normal. i took a TVS and my uterus are very thick 23mm,and after taking provera it goes out to 10.3mm w/c is thick..
 

Answer: Do you have a fibroid or an ovarian cyst? What is the thickness of the endometrium on day 6 of the period? Do you have an endometrial polyp? If everything else is normal, a hysteroscopy may help in diagnosing and treating your condition.

Question: Hi Doctor. I am 49yrs old and for the last few months have been having a yellowish smelly discharge . I actually smells like an infection. I have been to my own GP and had swabs taken also i have had a urine check but every thing has come back o'k. I am getting relly embarrased about this odour please can you help.
 

Answer: Sorry to hear about your problem. Have you done a vaginal smear and a vaginal swab for culture and sensitivity? If both are normal, have your blood sugar checked for diabetes. Also, wear only cotton panties and change them twice a day. Use a feminine wash ( from seba med ) to cleanse your vulva. Let me know if this helps.
 

Question: Hi doc, i am a 31 year old trying to concieve from past few months. I already had a still birth 2 years back due to high levels of induced bp which started getting higher from seventh month onwards.my gynae kept on waiting for normal labour pains to start which didn't start even after 9 months n 9 days and ultimately on 10th day i lost my baby. at present i was not having follicles being made for which my new gynae advised siphene 150mg along with folic 5mg which i took only for a month.i missed my period this month its over 20 days but preg test is negative .my doc says its due to hormonal disturbance is it possible due to side effect of siphene or folic?my other reports(hormonal ,thyroid,hsg etc)plus all reports of husband r normal.till date i was having absolutely normal but anovulatry cycle . i am also a known diabetic since 4 years for which i am taking glycomet 1 gm,amyryl n pyoglit15 mg reports of sugar r also normal. please suggest what should i do?thanking you in anticipation.
 

Answer: Sorry to hear about your problems. Your blood sugar should be absolutely normal when you wish to conceive. Folic acid does not cause any change in the menstrual cycle. Are you ovulating with the siphene ? This can be determined by doing a scan on day 13 of the period. You would require frequent monitoring of your blood pressure , sugar and your fetus during your next pregnancy. All the best !
