Question
I want to know I m having a burning sensation in vagina when my hubby
tries to do fingering i have irregular periods is we r having
unprotected sex from last month can i b pregnant or its an infection
Answer
Burning sensation in the vagina is not a sign of pregnancy. It is
probably due to some vaginal infection. If you have a vaginal discharge
also, use betadine vaginal pessaries. Ensure that you do not have any
contraindication to its use. Do a urine test for pregnancy ( clear
blue).
Question
Hi I had Intercourse twice with in 6 weeks after my c-section is there
any chance to get preganent
Answer
Usually, one does not ovulate till 6 weeks of a delivery, so it is
unlikely that you could be pregnant. However, since you have had a CS,
it is advisable to use some contraceptives like the pill to avoid
another pregnancy till at least 2 years.
Question
Hi, I'm Taylor and I'm 20 years old. I've had quite a few sexual partners
and every time I have sex I regret it. Recently I got a yeast infection
and while I was sleeping I scratched at it A LOT. I didn't mean to but
ever since then things have been horrible.. I created a separation of
the skin on both sides of my vagina. While i was looking at it earlier i
accidentally pulled it and it started bleeding.. besides that it also
feels chapped. It is the worst pain I've ever been in and I don't know
what to do. I've been diagnosed with HPV but im not sure if it has to do
with that. Also on both sides where its cracked (separated) its very
moist it almost feels like im getting discharge on the sides of my
vagina obviously not where its supposed to happen. Please help!! I don't
know what to do..
Answer
Use Momenta or Travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days on the vulva.
If the problem does not reduce, see a doctor. Use canesten vaginal
pessaries for 6 nights to reduce the yeast infection.

Question
I am 16 and a virgin. I'm going on 5 months of having no period, and in
this past week, a small bump has emerged on my vagina. I hate going to
gynecologists, but I know that if I ignore it, it will only get worse.
Is it something I can treat at home or must I go get the checkup?
Answer
I do not know what your experience with gynecologists has been , but I
think you will need to see someone. Have the " bump" examined, as it is
difficult for me to tell you what it is without seeing it. It could be a
small abscess or a bartholin cyst. Also, you need to have an ultrasound
done to determine whether you have PCO ( polycystic ovaries) which could
be a cause of the irregular periods. If you do not have that, have your
prolactin and thyroid hormones checked to determine the cause of the
irregular periods.
Question
I have just turned 31 a week back, and are married since last 4 years.
We are anxious to start a family from last 1 year, but no luck. I went
for the first follicle scanning in August after taking Siphene from
3-8th day of the period, and there were 4 follicles that were detected
from 8-17th day. But, I didn't conceive even after having intercourse on
the days as advised by doctor. A cyst was also detected during the scan.
I went for repeat cycle for the following period on the second day, and
doctor detected a Cyst. Hence was advised to wait for another 2 cycles
to pass. Now, after letting of 3 periods pass, I went on for scanning
for the second day for the 4th cycle this month.
But doctor detected regression cyst.
Doctor has asked me not to take Siphene and wait for another one month.
Is it a cause for worry? Will I conceive even though I have cyst?
Answer
You can conceive even if you have a cyst. You have not mentioned what
the size of the follicle was. It should reach 18 to 20 mm by day 16 of
the period. If not, you would require further medication. Let me know,
so I can advice you further.
Question
Good day doctor, I wrote to u earlier as well but I guess there must
have been some problem i still cant find the Answers to my questions..
however I consulted doctor and everythings fine now..but since i m
curios abt something I wanted to ask you whether it is possible to know
whether anyone has undergone abortion surgery? if the person goes to doc
can the gynae know whether she has undergone surgery? thanks.
Answer
I had Answered this question before and you have to look for the Answers
in the omanaccess website. No one can know whether you have gone through
a surgery. However, the hymen would be broken during any surgery on the
uterus, so that can be detected.
Question
I stopped taking ceraztte on 6th january to try for a baby. i have had
no peirods yet extecp on the 18th jan i had some brown coluored spotting
that only lasted a day also i keep getting cramp in the stomach that
feel like peirod pains. could i be pregnant? I did not get peirod while
taking cerazette.
Answer
18th January would be 12 days from the pill, so you could have ovulated
and conceived. More likely, however, is that the brown discharge you had
was a period. Do a urine test for pregnancy. Hope you have started
taking folic acid.
Question
Hi, I'm 19 years old and I have a son 2 years old. On jan 11th 2007 that
i thought I got periods but not because I noticed at first that red with
brownish spot within few hours stopped. Finally, Jan 12th i got bleeding
in morning for get periods until on Jan 15th done but next day i got
cramping and cramping then two days later i got pinkish spot in early
morning. Is that abnormal periods or is this early signs of pregnancy?
Answer
You can have this sort of bleeding even when you are pregnant. Do a
urine test like clear blue. If positive, have an ultrasound done to
ensure that the pregnancy is within the uterus and is o.k.
Question
Dear Doctor,
I am Pavithra.29 yrs.two and a half years back i got married and one
year after my marriage i had a miscarriage.Since my periods were not
regular,i was taking treatment for inducing ovulation and one month i
din t take medicine. That month i became pregnant and confirmed late and
ended in a miscarriage.I have consulted so many doctors and nobodytold
whythis happened.I got a flesh from my vagina 21 days after my periods
date. After that there was a gap of 3 months and as per doctor's advice i
have again taken medicine for 5 months such as clomid. My husband's count
was proper and doctor told that i am also producing very nice eggs. But
till now i amnot conceiving. We r eagerly waiting for that.I am so much
disappointed. After taking tablets for 5 months now doctor told me to go
for IVF laproscopy. But i am afraid to go for that.We have to wait more
or do it now? Please give me an opinion.Eagerly waiting for u r rply.
Answer
Sorry to hear about your miscarriages. Did your doctor ask you to do IVF
or laparoscopy? Laparoscopy would help determine the condition of your
tubes and also whether you have any other condition like endometriosis.
Why was IVF advised? If you are ovulating well , it would be worthwhile
to try IUI (intra-uterine insemination) before you consider IVF("test-
tube baby"). Which city are you in ?
Question
Hi Dr, I have been married since three years and have been trying to
conceive. last May-06 i conceived but unfortunately had a missed abortion
in the 6.2week.so had a Dnc done and since then have been trying to get
pregnant again.all my and my husbands test have been performed and all r
normal.i am taking fertility treatment here at Hyderabad. My Dr has
prescribed me fertyl tab from 3day of my cycle with decdak till 5
days.then from the ninth day she has asked me to take premarin.other
than this she has prescribed duphaston from the 17th day for 10days to
sustain the pregnancy.i have been asked to take mataformin and folic
acid constantly.Dr plz help me and guide me wether my treatment is
right.my tubes r also normal.thanks a lot.
Answer
You should continue the folic acid . I presume you have PCO( polycystic
ovaries) and that is why metformin has been given. I think you should do
an ultrasound on day 15 of the cycle to check the size of the follicles
and to ensure that the ovaries are not getting unduly enlarged. Once you
have ovulated , you should take duphaston, rather than a fixed day of
the cycle( day 17). If you find the follicle is small , let me know, so
I can advice you further.
Question
Hi doctor,
I'm 24 years old. And I'm married. Before married, i have no problem at
all with my period. Regular - every month. But, after married & since
after i had my first sex, my period delay for already 2 months. At first
i thought i was pregnant, but already checked with my doctor - negative.
The doctor had given me hormone pills for 5 days but it still failed to
make me period. Went again to my doctor, and he said my period getting
more delay maybe because i'm too stress thinking about this to hard. I
hope you can advice me & give me second opinion. Really hope that u can
help. Thank you..
Answer
First of all, relax! Stress can delay periods. However, if you have not
yet got a period, repeat the urine test to ensure that you did not have
a late conception. If it is negative, have an ultrasound done to
determine the presence of an ovarian cyst, which may give irregular
periods. Let me know what happens in the next few cycles, so I can
advice you further.

Answer
Sorry to hear about your missed abortion. Since you have conceived, you
will again ! So, do not worry about a small uterus, etc. You must have
done a D & C by now. Start taking folic acid tablets. Do not conceive
for 2 months. Then , when you are planning a pregnancy, do a blood test-
toxoplasmosis IgM and let me know the result , so I can advice you
further. All the best !
Question
I got my first injection of Decapeptyl Depot 3.75 mg on December 22
since my period started on December 16. I expected the injection to
cease my menstrual bleeding. Instead, I had vaginal bleeding (just like
the flow of a menstruation) on January 6, 2007 - only 3 weeks after the
first day of my December menstruation. Under normal circumstances, my
menstruation would have started about 8-10 days after - sometime on
January 14-16 since my last menstruation was on December 16. Instead, my
menstruation came about 8-10 days earlier. The bleeding followed the
normal pattern of a monthly menstruation whereby heavy bleeding was
followed by a period of mild bleeding. Normally, my monthly menstruation
would have lasted for a week. However, ever since my premature
“menstruation” on January 6, I still continue to bleed, albeit very
mildly now. As of today, January 14, I have been bleeding for already 9
days although as I mentioned earlier, the bleeding is extremely mild now compared to when I started bleeding on January 6. I would be
getting my second injection of Decapeptyl Depot on Jan. 22.
Could you kindly advise me what the bleeding may mean e.g.
complications, if any? Would it, for instance, mean that my uterus is
damaged, etc? The preservation of my uterus is very important since I
plan to have a child after my myomectomy on February 13.
Answer
In some women there is irregular bleeding after decapeptyl. Your next
decapeptyl should have been 4 weeks later on 13th January. Anyway, the
decapeptyl has been given to you to reduce the size of the fibroid(s)
prior to the surgery. The bleeding while on decapeptyl does not indicate
any damage to the uterus, so don't worry about that. You have not
mentioned the number and size of the fibroids you have. Repeat a scan on
5th of February and if the size has not reduced, you should take 2 more
decapeptyl injections( at 4 weekly intervals) prior to your surgery .
Let me know, so I can advice you further. If the size has reduced, go
ahead with the surgery. Are there multiple fibroids or a very large one
? If they are small, you can conceive even without a myomectomy.
Question
Married 26 and my husband is 29 and trying for a baby for the last 1 year.As per advice of our doctor i took duphaston from the 18th day to
28th day of my period.after that my period was supossd to come on 20th
Dec but came with light spotting on 22nd Dec and continous flow on 25th
Dec.When can i consider the first day of my period to calculate the next
periods date.Plz doctor could you give an Answer.
Answer
I presume you have done a urine test for pregnancy and it is negative.
The bleeding could be present even if you are pregnant. You can 25th as
the first day of the period. Have you done an ultrasound to determine
when you are ovulating? Duphaston alone will not help if you are not
ovulating. What is your husband's semen report? Are your tubes patent?
Let me know , so I can advice you accordingly.
Question
I am 22 years old and got married on 30th August 2006. My last period
was on October 7th 2006. My pregnancy results were positive on November
14th 2006. When i went for a routine check up to the doctor she advised
me to take Stresstabs and Duphaston. On November 21st 2006, i had heavy
bleeding and was taken to the Gynaecologist. Since i was just 4-5 weeks
pregnant the doc couldnot say if i had a miscarriage. She gave me a
projestrone injection and asked me to come back after a week for
checkup. When i went back she said the baby has heartbeats and to take
more rest. On Dec 2nd i was having blood clots when passing urine with
spot bleeding and when i went for a scan she told me the baby is no more
there and i had a spontaneous miscarriage. I wen in for an ERPOC on Dec
30th 2006. I was bleeding not heavily but medium for the next 2 weeks.
Now my bleeding has stoped but i happen to notice a very dark brown
discharge with some watery discharge? Can you please help me and tell me
what this discharge is all about?
Answer
You may get bleeding for 2 - 3 weeks after the D & C . Were you given
antibiotics after the D & C ? Have you done an ultrasound recently? This
would let you know whether any products are still present in the uterus.
If you are in Oman, you can come and see me for further treatment now
and during your next pregnancy. You can book an appointment - my number
is 24563181.
Question
I am taking Necon 1/35-28. I have had irregular periods- I get my period
for the week before the white inactive pills, and then for 2 days during
the white inactive pill timeframe. I noticed some depression and
frequency in urination, and thought I should perhaps take a pregnancy
test. Took the test- came out negative. I am not sure if I should retest
in a week as I am not sure about the period sitation. Could I be
pregnant? Why would I get my period during the active pills?
Thanks for any help.
Answer
You should test the urine again. The bleeding could have been because
you missed a pill or did not take it at the same time everyday.
Sometimes, the efficacy of the pill is reduced if you have had diarrhea
or vomiting or if you have taken certain drugs. This would also cause
bleeding during the active pills and a pregnancy.
Question
I had a ultrasound with normal uterus but markedly thickened endometrial
complex. they state most likely result of polp. 2.5cm double layer
thickness. I'm really scared. I'm have a hysterosonography done and a
biopsy schedule. Could this be cancer or only polpys or a combination
Thank you Nancy I'm 39 years old and my periods have always been
irregular my whole life with heavy bleeding and recently my periods
weren't coming every month.
Answer
Relax! The result of the biopsy of the polyp will reduce your tension
once you know it is benign. The heavy bleeding could be due to the
polyp.Let me know the result of the biopsy Also, repeat a scan about 1
month after the polyp removal and let me know, the result.

Question
I am 35 years old and would like to be a mother. After intercourse as
soon as the Penis comes out from Vegina all the semens are coming out
immediately. I need your suggestion what to do?
Answer
You will need a lot of advice regarding position during intercourse,
ovulation, checking the fallopian tubes and husband's semen. You should
consult a gynecologist for this as it will be difficult to advice all
this in a mail.

Question
Hello Doctor;
I am a twenty-six year old woman. Within the past couple of months i
have become sexually intimate with a new partner. For the past couple of
days my vagina has been extremely itchy. Today i have also noticed an
odor. My partner is also experiencing similar symptoms. Could you please
provide me with some information?
With sincere thanks,
Answer
Both of you can use travocort ointment twice day for 5 days. If the
problem persists, you should see a gynec. who can determine what type of
vaginal infection you have and treat you accordingly.
Question
If i took postinor-2 and i took a urine test after three weeks and it
says positive is it possible the test ws wrong.
Answer
It is possible that you are pregnant, as the prostinor 2 is not always
100 % effective. Have an ultrasound done to check whether the fetus is
in the tube ( ectopic pregnancy) and whether it is growing well.
Question
I am 26 years old and married on feb of year 2006...from last 11 months
we have a regular intercourse without using any pills...some 6 months
back i had my blood checkup doctor said yout thyroid harmone is
immbalanced...she gave me medicine for it...now again last month i had a
check up ....doctor said that now thyroid harmone is balanced and you
keep on taking medicine....last month i had another check up in which
doc found that there was a cyst in right ovary...but due to some reasons
it brokes and fluid starts collecting in pelvis....i am totally confused
....i want to conceive....doctor pls help me
Answer
Relax! First of all, are you ovulating? This can be detected by the
clear plan test, or better by ultrasound. Also, what is your husband's
semen report? You do not need to worry about the cyst now. Continue your
thyroid medication. You must also take folic acid tablets. Let me know
the results, so I can advice you further.
Question
I WOULD LIKE TOP KNOW IF I AM PREGNANT?
Answer
The beta hcg is less than 5, so you are unlikely to have been pregnant.
You have not mentioned any ranges of the hormones. As you must be aware,
different labs, have different ranges, so check the range of the test
and let me know which one is abnormal. Do let me know the range of the
testosterone, as that seems to be rising. Continue the thyroxin. I
presume you are taking folic acid tablets. During the next cycle, take
ovofar and do a scan on the 12th day of the period and let me know the
size of the follicle. Repeat the scan on day 18 to determine whether you
have ovulated or not and then start the duphaston.
Question
Hello madam I am 25 years old i have one baby now she have 2 years i
want become a second baby i have cygerian.periods are coming regularly
.so give me any tablets for my pregnency.i have'n any other problems.
thanku madam.
Answer
Check whether you are ovulating or not by doing the clear plan test or
ultrasound. This will determine your fertile period. If you are
ovulating, you do not need any medication. Let me know, so I can advice
you accordingly. Start taking folic acid tablets- one a day.
Question
Dear Doctor,
I am 28 year old Male and my wife is 27 years old. We just married a
month back and thinking of plannning for atleast 6 months.
She is taking FEMILON tablets regularly. Last week all of a sudden she
was feeling notia and also started vommitting. In due course she was
constantly felt headache. We were assuming , She got Pregnant. Also by
doing UPT on immediately it showed VALID REGION.
But after repeating the test ater 2 days it was NEGATIVE and immediately
she got periods too.
Now my quetions are:
1) Does FEMILON helpful for family planning??
2) If yes, are there any side effects on her?
3) What are the chances of pregancy though she is taking femilon ( I am
assuming 100% protections from contracepive pills is not possible)
4) In case she conceives a baby even after taking Pills, does is attect
the EMBRYO ( gowth, type etc...)
Kindly revert back at the earliest
Answer
Nausea and vomiting could be due to the pill. However, she should take
it at night after dinner to reduce the incidence of these side- effects.
Did she get bleeding while on the pill or after she finished it ?
Regarding your other questions :
1) Yes, it is an oral contraceptive pill, so helpful.
2) You must check her blood pressure and blood sugar to ensure that they
remain normal. There might be a little bit of weight gain besides the
nausea, headache and vomiting.
3) If she has not forgotten a single tablet and she has not had diarrhea
or vomiting just after taking the pill, the pill is almost 100 %
effective and it is the most effective method of contraception.
4) Usually the fetus is not affected even if she conceives. However,
sometimes there might be certain abnormalities or a slightly increased
chance of miscarriage.
Question
Hi Umm Im 19 and I lost my virginity about a month ago. Now my periods
are not a normal cycle they havent been that why for a while. After and
during sex i was bleeding i heard they callit " popping the cherry" i
wasnt really bleeding like a period bbut there were spot. So im a little
worried we use protect but i just want to know what going on. I had a
period the week before i lost my virgnity. So what now
Answer
Since you have had irregular periods, it is difficult to assess when you
would have ovulated. Do a urine test for pregnancy 15 days after the
last intercourse. If you are going to remain sexually active, it is
advisable to use the contraceptive pill like Yasmin or Gracial from the
first day of the next period. However, check with your gynec. that you
do not have any contra-indications to its use.
Question
I don't have regular periods and for 2 years i've been trying to have a
baby and nothing has happen can i go to a gynecologist to help slove my
problem.
Answer
Since you wish to conceive you must see a gynecologist . You would need
to know whether you are ovulating or not, what your husband's semen
report is and whether your tubes are patent or not. All the best!
Question
Hi doctor im 26 years old married, i moved to canada im here from the

gonna be 2 months im worried what should i do ? we are not planning baby
we are not using any pills only my husband uses condoms or withdrawal

Answer
You must do a urine test for pregnancy ( clear blue). If it is positive,
you'll will have to decide what to do and see a gynec. regarding that. .
If it is negative, take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5
days to get a period. Once you get a period, it is advisable to use the
contraceptive pill like Yasmin or Gracial from the first day of the next
period.
Question
I had abortion @10wks on7th december, now almost one month but after that
my normal period did`nt come so iam very worry about this.pls give me a
proper Answer.
Answer
Sometimes , the first period after an abortion is delayed. Check the
urine for pregnancy . If negative, take duphaston tablets- one tablet
twice a day for 5 days to get a period. If you are not wishing to
conceive soon, use some contraceptive measure like the pills. If you
wish to conceive, you must wait for 2-3 months before conceiving again.

20 minutes, why semen is coming out, we took all test, we both had
normal test, plz suggest me, i wnat to be pregnant
Answer
After intercourse, it is normal for the semen to come out of the vagina.
So, don't worry about that. However, if you lie down for at least 2
hours after intercourse, most of the sperms would have reached the
uterus and that would increase your chances . Are you ovulating? This
can be checked by the clear plan test. Also, are your tubes patent? Were
they tested after the missed abortion? Let me know, so I can advice you
further.
Question
Hi, I'm a 21 year old female who is trying to get pregnant. lately I had
tenderness of the breast, fatigue, lower back pain, and an increase of
appetite. my nipples have these things on them that look like pimples.
To make a long story short I took a pregnancy test home and at the
doctors office and it came out negative. there was no blood test done.
but for the last three days ive been spotting. my period started the
fourtenth which is early cause it suppose to be on the eightenth anyway
it started out heavy but btw yesterday and today all im doing is
spotting a brownish fluid. could i be pregnant.
Answer
Breast tenderness and increase in appetite can occur even before a
period. It would be advisable to do a blood test- beta hcg to determine
whether you are pregnant or not. Spotting could be a scanty period or
pregnancy bleeding - either a threatened abortion or an ectopic
pregnancy( tube pregnancy). If the blood test is positive, have an
ultrasound done.
Question
I have been having irregular bleeding. It is always after I pass a blood
clog. I pass them whenever they just come and go. They are not painful
but they are annoying. I dont know why I am passing so many clogs. My
peirods have always been irrgular and I gave birth 7 years ago. I am
worried but I am to shy to go to the doctor can you help me and tell me
what it can be?
Answer
You have not clarified regarding your irregular bleeding? Is it delayed
or frequent periods? Is it bleeding in between your periods? Regarding
your blood clots, you will need to see a gynec. who can do an ultrasound
to determine whether you have an ovarian cyst or a fibroid in the
uterus. Also have your hemoglobin checked. Let me know the result ,so I
can advice you further.
Question
Hi dr.,
I am 27 yr old woman with PCOS trying for a 2nd baby, and i just have
some confusions that you might be able to clear for me..
1. Why am i being asked to take femara 5mg and puregon at the same time
on days 2-6? This is my 3rd cycle on these meds and i ovulated on all
cycles, but am just wondering why most REs prescribe femara on days 3-7
and then puregon on days 7-11 but mine seem to think taking them at the
same time is best.. can u please give me ur opinion on this?
Answer
Femara is letrozole. many doctors give this instead of clomid tablets to
induce ovualtion. I cannot opine on why your doctor prescribes these
together. Most of us would see the response of the tablets alone and
then do an ultrasound on day 10 of the cycle and if the follicles are
small, prescribe injections like puregon. The important thing is that
you are ovulating with whatever protocol is advised and that there is no
hyperstimulation ( excessive enlargement ) of the ovaries. All the best!
Question
Hello, Dr., I am 21yrs, 1year before in oct. 2005 i had a miscarriage.
after i have mensuration for 2 mths. from last yr. jan. i have no
periods, after seeing Dr. I had mensus in april (dr. use injections),
then in aug(injections), sept.-oct. nov.- by taking medicines for
21days. again afterwards no menuses come, also in oct.my breast becomes
very heavy and there is white discharge for 1 week. last week i change
my Dr. now she says, my ovaries size is bigger than normal.is anything
seroius, i want to get pregrant, my practin test is positive. Please
reply me wht. i have to do now, taking any medication and also is
exercise means going gym. effects my body. Please reply me asap, thanks.
Answer
I presume you have PCO ( polycystic ovaries) where there are irregular
periods and enlarged ovaries. You must have had this condition even
prior to the miscarriage. It is present in 10 - 20 % of women. I need to
know whether you are ovulating or not. Have an ultrasound done on day 11
of the cycle and if you are not ovulating, your doctor can prescribe you
some medication for that. If you are slightly overweight ( as is common
with PCOS) , exercise and a low fat diet will help. You have said your
"practin " is positive. Do you mean your "prolactin " is high ? Let me
know the result, so I can advice you further. A high prolactin can also
cause irregular periods and prevent a pregnancy.
Question
Dear Dr.
My wife got some brown discharge and little blood during her period. Is
it normal or these signs means other disease? thanks
Answer
If you mean this was a scanty period, have a urine test for pregnancy
done. Sometimes there can be bleeding during pregnancy.
Question
Hey, I'm 11 and I've been having discharge for like a year now and now
it's getting so bad it's leaking through my panties, I don't know what
it means for it to be doing that I need some Answers, pleas
Answer
You could be having a fungal vaginal infection. use only cotton panties.
Take one diflucan tablet at night as a single dose. If your problem
persists, see a gynec.
Question
Hello Dr,
I have been married for 4.5years and had one miscarriage after a year on
the 7th week of my pregnancy as my uterus was not able to carry the
baby. Ever since then 2003 I have not concieved again. I realized I
started putting on weight and have had PCOS. Since 2005 I have been
effectively trying to concieve, but have tried clomid several times and
then pregnyl injections to increase the same. Done the FSH, LH test, the
Follecular studies, and dr has now prescribed me in 6months to have
glucophage 3times a day. But I have not been doing that as I dont like
to have those tablets. Also because I insisted with my doctor, there
should be a quicker way out as I am desperate now, she has asked me to
do a Laproscopic Ovarian drilling which I have been thinking in the last
4months and not sure if I should go in for it. I need your help and I am
going to be 30years this year and already feel so old.
Please help me.
Thank you.
Answer
Relax ! You must take the right treatment without getting stressed about
it ! Have you fasting plasma insulin done. If it is normal, you may not
need the glucophage. Secondly, you must ovulate to get pregnant! Have an
ultrasound done on day 12 of the period,. If your follicles are small,
you would require clomid tablets to help you ovulate. This , however,
must be done under close ultrasound monitoring to ensure that your
ovaries do not get unduly enlarged. Have you checked your tubes after
the miscarriage? If not, have that done and let me know the result. Some
of us are against ovarian drilling as the beneficial effect of that is
temporary and sometimes it can cause adhesions which can later reduce
your chances of conception. Nowadays, with the various drugs available,
you should ovulate and conceive. All the best !
Question
DR:
I have pcos and have been taking the medications for it for a couple of
years. Now all of a sudden I am feeling excruciating pain in the left
lower part near my hip. When I have this I cant sit or stand have
continuous belching and feel as if I have to use the restroom but
nothing comes out... Is this related or is it something else?
Answer
You have not mentioned the name of the medication you are taking.
Anyway, have an ultrasound done to determine whether you have an ovarian
cyst or a fibroid which maybe giving you this pain. If you have missed a
period, do a pregnancy test . An ectopic pregnancy can also give rise to
such a pain. Let me know the result, so I can advice you further.
Question

Answer

Question
Hello Doctor, am having PCOS. right ovarian cyst laporoscopically removed
6mnths back.Since november absent menstruation.Had duphastone for 3days
period not yet started.Today is the 6th day after stopping duphastone.
Should i wait for 4more days as per my docs instruction or go for
consultation?
Dr.gave me glucophage tabs 3xdaily. after taking it twice i feel very
giddy, confused, faint and drowsy. cant even walk. so I tried once daily
and feel better.
is the dosage enough to control my pcos? my weight is 61kgs.my craving
for food have doubled since past 2 weeks. Kindly advise. Thank you.
Answer
If you still have not got a period, do a urine test for pregnancy. if
you are uncomfortable with glucophage, you can take another tablet
called " actos". This , however, is more expensive than glucophage. Have
a fasting plasma insulin level done. If it is normal, you may not
benefit with glucophage or actos, so you may not need to take it. Once
daily metformin would not be effective. Are you wishing to conceive now
? If yes, are you ovulating? Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
I am 19, and have had 2 sexual partners. The first I dated for 9 months
and then when we split, I met the guy I'm with now. He was a virgin.
When we're having sex, protection is a condom, about half-way through I
have A LOT of VERY thick, white discharge coming out of me. I dont have
pain during or after sex, there's no smell, and I have no itching or
irratation. I am not on birth control. I ONLY have discharge like this
during sex. Any ideas?
Answer
Is the discharge you are talking about the semen? Have a vaginal
examination done after 3 -4 days of intercourse to determine the type of
infection you have and then appropriate treatment can be given.
Question
I do not know I'm pregnant for only about 1 month & I have take the
painkiller - ponstan. Will it affect my baby?
Answer
If you have taken just one or two tablets, it would not usually affect
the pregnancy. However, have an ultrasound done at 6 weeks to ensure
that the fetus is growing well.
Question
I am a 22 year old married female and I have a few questions. I got
pregnant when I was 19 and lost it within the first month. I decided
that it was probobly due to me being over weight. I lost 80 pds but in
the process I lost my periods. I have not had a normal period without
the assistance of medication for 2 years now. My husband and I are ready
to start a family and so i was perscribed progeterone and something else
to take to make me ovulate. Well since I took this stuff every month
after the first (i had a normal period the first month) I have 1-2 days
of dark brown/black discharge. If I am not having that then I have an
egg white discharge but today it is like a thick white discharge with
the elasticity of the egg white substance. Do you have any ideas on
this? Thanks in advance.
Answer
First of all, check your FSH & LH hormones on day 3 or 4 of the period.
This will determine whether your ovaries are capable of functioning and
ovulating. Regarding your discharge, have a pelvic examination done and
a vaginal smear would reveal the type of infection you have and
appropriate treatment can be given. One gets a clear mucoid discharge
while you are ovulating, which then becomes thick after ovulation.
Question
I am 26 year old unmarried lady. I have decided not to have children
after marraige. Could you tell me how not to get children after
marraige.
We have taken this decision because, having children will affect our
career growth and will create problems.
Could you tell us a permanant solution which will be like without
surgery.
Thanks
Answer
You can use oral contraceptives . This is the most reliable method of
conception ( excluding surgery). However, see a gynec. who can examine
you and determine that you do not have any contra- indications to their
use.
