History: - my period started when I was 16. But they were irregular till my age of 23.In Feb 2006 my periods were prolonged till 40 days. So I went for a check To a gynecologist. To stop the periods she gave me tablet Regestrone for 20 days. After that she tooked Hormone tests and sonography

After that she gave me tablet
1) Cabergolin 0.2 mg (once in a week for 1 month)
2) Brqemet SR 500 (Daily one after lunch for 1 month)

After these medicines I had a period, she called me for check up at 4th day of Period. She prescribed me tablet Ovral L for 21 days, after 21 days 1 got period ,Than she gave me Tablet Diane 35 for 6 months .Than I visited her clinic n she told me from now till 3 months u don’t take any Medicines, we will see how ur body reacts. (From Nov 06 till Jan 07)

My last periods were on 16th October.
But on 16th November I got only one spotting in d morning n after that no periods. I was worried so I called her (doctor Vijaylaxmi Ganorkar M.D) She told me to wait till 10th December. N if periods will not come I must visit to her clinic. But my periods were still due. so she gavd me Divery for 5 dats afer dinner.

After that i got the periods. than she called again me after my periods for sonography. but here the reports were showing that i have an PCO n my both overies have beome bulky n evem sizes has been incresed. Now she had given me Glycomet 500 after every meals i.e 3 times a day for 6 months n Novelon After 4th day of my periods (21tablets) its again for 6 months. she has told me to do sonography after 3 month again. This is the all picture. Earlier I was thin, but after that I have increased from 10 kgs. As she had told me to do exercise so I do twice daily. But still I m heavy n my periods problem is the same. So it’s my personal request to help me. Is my treatment is going properly. Can I will loose my wait. This all will not create a huge problem for me in pregnancy after getting married?

Women with PCO have irregular periods, increase in weight , hirsutism and irregular or absent ovulation. So, your weight gain is part of that and not due to medication. Some maybe due to the ovral, but not all. You have mentioned that your prolactin is high. In my lab the normal range is upto 20, so please let me know your recent value with the normal range in your laboratory. At present, since you do not wish to conceive, continue metformin 500 mgm twice a day for 3-4 months. If you miss a period, take duphaston twice a day for 5 days to induce a period. I would not advice you to take diane or ovral since these would increase your weight. Have your FSH, LH , prolactin and testosterone done on day 3 of the period and let me know he results,so I can advice you further. When you wish to conceive, you might need medication to help you ovulate. The sonography after 3 months would determine whether the endometrium has thinned out or not. PCO, however, remains lifelong. You have mentioned" brqemet". Is it metformin?

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. You have mentioned rubella- is it IGm or IGG? Please let me know your recent TSH & T4 levels, with the normal range of your lab. Since you are ovulating, you will conceive again. Continue glycophage and clomid as required. I usually give pregnyl when the follicle is 20mm. Have you done IUI( intra- uterine insemination )? try that in the next cycle. Also, have your prolactin hormone checked. As soon as your IUi is done, start duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 10 days. This would help the fetus to grow and prevent another miscarriage. Let me know, so I can advice you further. Good day, I am 30-yr old female. I have been suffering from severe itchiness at my groin area (both sides, with pimple-like surface)and also pimple-like skin at my vagina area, for past 3-4 days. At first I thought it was a hygiene issue but went visited a clinic doctor today who said the 'lumps' I've got inside my genitals are actually 'genital warts', and this is a sexually trasmitted skin disease. I have a partner but we never have had any inter-course except petting. Could it be the only reason for getting this (we were hardly intimate at all for last 2 months), or I could have caught these due to personal hygiene? I do not have any other sex partner except this person, the only other one was someone whom I broke off 6 years ago.

You need to treat the warts by cryosurgery or medication . The following is some of the information from an article:

"TRANSMISSION
Genital warts are very contagious. You can get them during oral, vaginal, or anal sex with an infected partner. You can also get them by skin-to-skin contact during vaginal, anal, or (rarely) oral sex with someone who is infected. About two-thirds of people who have sexual contact with a partner with genital warts will develop warts, usually within 3 months of contact.

In women, the warts occur on the outside and inside of the vagina, on the opening to the uterus (cervix), or around the anus.

In men, genital warts are less common. If present, they usually are seen on the tip of the penis. They also may be found on the shaft of the penis, on the scrotum, or around the anus.

Rarely, genital warts also can develop in your mouth or throat if you have oral sex with an infected person.

Although treatments can get rid of the warts, none get rid of the virus. Because the virus is still present in your body, warts often come back after treatment.

PREVENTION
The only way you can prevent getting an HPV infection is to avoid direct contact with the virus, which is transmitted by skin-to-skin contact. If you or your sexual partner has warts that are visible in the genital area, you should avoid any skin-to skin and sexual contact until the warts are treated.

I have an irregular menstruation since 12 years old when I had my 1st period. I was advised to take pills to regulate my period. I have taken the pill irregular so it did not help regulate my menstruation. Now I am 28, and checked from Dr again and found out that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. So my OB advised me to take 5 tablet Chlomid on my 2nd-5th day of my period and 10 tablet Duphaston on my 15th-25th day of my period.I have been taking these medicine for the past 5 months and not yet pregnant. I had a period for the last 4 months, but with irregular intervals. This month,I just had a spotting for few hours and I thought it was my period so I took Chlomid on the 2nd day (but no more period that time).Then on the 15th day from that day I had spot i took duphaston (this was yesterday only).Today again I had a pinkish spot..Is it my period now?For just 16 days when I had that spotting no!

Did you do an ultrasound after taking the clomid? When did you ovulate? Were your ovaries unduly enlarged( formed cysts)?You should be taking folic acid tablets also. Did you do a urine test for pregnancy when you had the spotting ? At times, one can be pregnant and can have spotting which can be mistaken for a period. Let me know the result of the scan done on day 12 of the next cycle and the dose of the clomid taken., so I can advice you further.

It is unlikely that she would be pregnant on day 6 of the period. Even if she has had a scanty period, it would be advisable to do a urine test to put her mind at rest.

Hi, I'm 21 and I have a 2 yr old son. I have been using the Mirena IUD since March 06 and my periods stopped about a week or so after I received the IUD. It had been 9 months since I have had a period until now. I started having severe cramps through my vaginal area like I was being cut in half. I think the doctor would have explained to you about the irregular or absent periods after the mirena. This is because the hormone released locally causes atrophy of the endometrium ( lining ) of the uterus. The brownish discharge is common, but the greenish is not.This is probably due to infection. You must have a vaginal smear and culture and sensitivity done to determine the type of infection you have and to take appropriate treatment.

She said that in the ultrasound there was no bleeding in the uterus and that this would stop my slight bleeding of the cervix. Is that true? I am worried about miscarrying again. By the time this reaches you, must have had the scan and known that everything is fine. As long as the fetus is growing well a, you should not worry. However, the dose of the medication can sometimes be increased if the spotting persists. Please check with your doctor about that.

1)  Breast pain indicates that there is fluid congestion , probably due to ovulation. So, you can conceive even if you have nipple and breast pain.
2)  Urine test should be done around 17 days after the pregnyl injection( for rupture)
3)  Once you ovulate, the discharge usually becomes thick. You will have to check with your doctor regarding that.

I’m 29 yrs old, married in Jan’04. My husband is 35 yrs old. I’m diabetic, diagnosed in July’04. Two miscarriages happened 1st on 30/07/05 and 2nd on 24/04/06.

Now I’m taking Insulin Novolet(30/70) twice daily 12unit & 8 unit & again planning for pregnancy. Last month I didn't take any medicine. My LMP was 01-11-06.Till now I didn't get period. I tested by Prego color card on 6-12-06 but result was -ve. For last few days I m experiencing frequent urination which is worst in morning time (almost every alternate 15 minutes in the morning but comparatively less after 11a.m.)Is it a symptom of pregnancy.On 15-12-06 again I had tested but showed very very light positive(I can’t say it as +ve or –ve, very very light line in T portion).On 16th I got slight bleeding. Again 18th night I tested by Prego color card, which showed as earlier. On 18th again I saw clotted blood but there was no heavy flow like bleeding. Last month also bleeding was very little. Frequent urination may occur just prior to a period also. If you have not yet got a period, repeat the urine test for pregnancy. if negative, do a blood test- beta hcg which will confirm or rule out a pregnancy. If this is negative, consider the bleeding you had as a period. Please continue the insulin injection and take folic acid tablets- 5 mgm everyday. Absolute control of the blood sugar is essential while you are conceiving. Once you take ovofar again, have ultrasound monitoring done on day11 of the period and let me know the result. You will have to mention this history again regarding the miscarriages, as I do not store any questions and your questions go to the omanaccess website and I do not have your e-mail address( for privacy reasons).

Dear Doctor, I am 30 yrs. I am 5'4'', 65 kg. I have PCO, the only symptom I have is irregular periods. I had become pregnant naturally but unfortunately was an ectopic pregnancy and my left tube was removed due to rupture. Please tell me the chances of concieving again and are there any steps to prevent an ectopic from happening again. Is PCO and ectopic related? Should I do anything to regularize my periods.Kindly help me. Thank you.

Sorry to hear about your ectopic. You must do a scan every month on day 11 of the period to determine that your follicles are developing well and which side it is. Also, have a hysterosalpingography done to determine that your right tube is patent. PCO and ectopic pregnancy are not related. Do not bother to regularise your periods. Use clomid to help you ovulate .( monitoring by ultrasound is essential) !

I'm 8 weeks pregnant when the doctor did the ultrasound she said there were two sacks in my uturus but only one baby in one sack and nothing in the other. Why is that sack there and could it be harmful to the growth of the baby?

2 gestational sacs means that you conceived two fetuses, but one of them is not growing. This is a common problem, so do not worry about it.

Dear Doc, Plzz help me. Am very much confused & worried with one serious problem.

I'm 24 years old & my husband is 29. We got married on 12th Jan '05. We have been trying for a baby since Jan '06 but in vain.

In August '06 I was detected that I've a cyst in my left ovary & this is not allowing me to conceive...Does Cyst stops from conceiving??

I consulted a doc & she has asked me to take a tab CLOFERT 50 for 5 days from 10th day of my periods. I had my periods on 12th of this month. So 10th day comes to 21st...right?? Please advice.

One more thing is doc I used to take PILL 72 during the beginning days of my marriage......does that cause any effect??

I did the Ovulation Study & was detected as unovulatory. I am ready to anything to have a baby.

Do let me know the size of the cyst. A cyst, usually, does not prevent conception. I think you have misunderstood the clofert treatment. It is usually from the 2nd , 3rd or 5th day of the period and never from the 11th day. Your doctor had probably asked you to go for a scan on day 11 of the period. Let me know the result of your scan on day 11 ( after taking the clofert correctly), so I can advice you further. Also, what is your husband's semen result? The pill taken previously should not affect the ovulation now.

Have you done a beta hcg blood test ? This would determine whether the ectopic pregnancy is growing or not. Let me know the result of two blood tests done 48 hours apart, so I can advice you accordingly. The polycystic ovaries are nothing to worry about, but the complex mass maybe an ectopic pregnancy.

Hi, I had a miscarriage 6 months ago on the 37th day. I had my last period on 20th Nov 2006. about 19 days after the beginning of the cycle i had all the symptoms that i had during the earlier miscarriage - dark brown discharge which increases as i walk or stand, but reduces if i lie down flat.

My doctor has prescribed me duphaston-progesterone supplement for 10 days, that is till the 30th day of my cycle.

After taking 3 tablets the discharge has significantly reduced and am no longer in bed rest. Now i have 2 questions,

1. She has asked me to take this tablet from the 20th day for 10 days and asked me to stop taking. she told me if i get my period within the next 1 week then am not pregnant, otherwise asked me to go for a pregnancy test. my question is what if i miscarry because i stopped taking the progesterone supplement.

2. Because i had the dark brown discharge for 3 days will there be any retardation in the growth of the baby?

I forgot to ask these to my doctor, your reply will be greatly appreciated.

Unless you have found a positive blood or urine test for pregnancy, you should not presume that what you had was a miscarriage and not a delayed period. Do the blood test and let me know the result, so I can advice you further.
