Dear Dr, in the month of August, my menses lasted for about 13 days. i met a Doctor and he said i had hormonal problem he now placed me on primolut. two tablets from 6th Sept to 16th sept. For about two weeks now, i feel pains on my nipples. i am expected my next cycle on the 18th Sept. what can be the problem. i have not been able to conceive too. i want to go for womb xray on the 10th day of my menses if it starts

please advice.

Primolut may cause water retention in the body and therefore the cause of the breast pain. If the pain persists after the period, have your breasts examined. You have mentioned " womb X- ray " Is it hysterosalpingography to check the tubes ? Let me know the result. Also, are you ovulating ? What is your husband's semen report ? Do you have a fibroid or an ovarian cyst? Let me know all these, so I can advice you further.

I had an i ud removed about two months ago. i had the iud in for about four years and never had a menstral cycle with it. so i had it removed for some medical reasons such as weight gain and acne. my husband and i have been using protection such as condoms and spermacide films. but since the removal of the iud i havent had a period is this normal or could there be a serious problem?

Was your IUD a hormone IUD or a copper one? Usually, the copper IUD would not cause weight gain , delayed period or acne. If you have used the hormone IUD ( containing progesterone ), these could occur. Let me know which iud you have used. Also, do you have polycystic ovaries or any other ovarian cyst (seen on ultrasound) ?

I posted a question to you some times back. I had said that I am 44 yeaars and had one child in February, 1982, an abortion in April 1991, a miscarriage in October, 2004. Had my last monthly period on 12/06/2006. A pregnancy test on 18/07/2006 showed positive and a scan done and showed that the fetus inplanted intrauterine and heart beat seen. The doctor put me on Duphaston on 18/07/2006. On 22/08/2006 when I was due to see my doctor in morning I was alright but in the evening I started spotting and within two hours I miscarried again. The doctor told me see him after six weeks which will be on 5/10/2006. I really desire to have a baby. Will it be really possible considering my age. What may have caused this miscarriage again? You had asked me if I had started on Folic Acid tablets before and after being pregnant.NO! The doctor did not tell me to use these tablets. I will still try again to get pregnant. I have not seen my periods as yet. Please advice me on what tests to take and more so if I become pregnant again.

You must continue to use folic acid. You must keep in mind that the chances of chromosomal abnormalities increase after the age of 35 as also the incidence of miscarriage. However, you can still have a child !. Check your thyroid hormones, blood sugar and toxoplasmosis IgM.Let me know the length of the cycles and whether you are ovulating regularly or not.

You need to check for the type of vaginal infection you have. This can be done by a vaginal smear and a culture and sensitivity of the discharge , if required. Depending on that , vaginal pessaries can be advised. For the itching, you can use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days.

Dear Doc Please advise....

I went off the patch on May 14th and fell pregnant sometime in June. Did a preg test June 26...was postive but had a miscarriage the following week (5-07-2006). Had a period till 08-07. Then got a normal period on the 08-08. Lasted till the 12th of Aug. Since this was a 30 day cycle, I calculated my next period for the 12-09....nothing yet. I purchased Clear Blue ovulation sticks and used them from the 20th to 24th of Aug but it didn't show ovulation.

Now I am scared to do a pregnancy test because I don't want to be disappointed but I don't know whether I could be pregnant. I don't have any other signs expect for the missed period and occassionally feeling a little nauseas. I also have a yellow discharge on occassion when i wipe myself after urination.

You have mentioned clear blue ovulation sticks. I presume you mean clear plan ovulation sticks. If you still have not got a period, do a clear blue test again. If negative ,

take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days . If your periods are always irregular, you may not be ovulating every cycle or ovulating late. Do a clear plan test to determine that. If you are not ovulating, you would require clomid tablets to help you conceive. All the best !

Hi Doctor, My husband and I have been trying for a baby since April 2005. I was diagnosed with PCOS last year. I had a laparoscope Ovarian drilling done on the 30th Aug 2006. I am on Metformin (glucophage 500mg X3 daily). Before the ovarian drilling I had my period on 13th July throu the help of Provera. I had a bleeding (like periods) after the ovarian drilling. When do I have my next periods,please help.

You should have got a period by now. If not, do a pregnancy test . If negative take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days . Once you get a period, take clomid tablets - one a day from the third day of the period for 5 days. Have an ultrasound done on day 11 of the period to check the size of the follicles. All the best !

Which hormone is 2.95? What is the normal range of that hormone in your lab? I require to know the FSH & LH hormones tested on day 2 of the period. What is your husband's semen report ? This is probably form the pill. However, if it increases or you have itching on the vulva, see a gynec. who can determine the reason for the discharge and treat you accordingly.

I am 32 years old and have had three children by C-Section and one etopic pregnancy. I was advised that I should not have any more children due to the three C-Sections so I had a tubaligation to my only working f-tube. I am a little worried because for the past two weeks I have been experiencing consistent movement in my lower abdomen above my pelvic area that feels like a baby kicking me. It dosen't hurt but it does last a while and sometimes I can put my hand on the spot and actually feel the movement. I have not had any changes to my period but I did take two pregnancy tests to be safe...you never know , right. All were negative. This may not be fetal movement, but "gas ". Take disflatyl tablets- three times a day for 3 days. If the problem persists, have an ultrasound done to rule out an ovarian cyst. Let me know the result, so I can advice you further.

Did you mean you got a period on 31st July or ovulated then? How did you determine ovulation ? Anyway, do a pregnancy test again . The bleeding you considered as a period may not have been a period, but pregnancy bleeding. Since there are different urine test reports, do a blood test- beta hcg to determine whether there is a pregnancy or not. If that shows a pregnancy, repeat the test after 48 hours and let me know whether the value is increasing or not. This will rule out any possibility of a tube pregnancy.

Scanning is absolutely safe in pregnancy, The frequency of scanning required would depend on many factors. If the growth of the fetus is reduced, you may require frequent scanning to assess the growth and well being.

Hi, i have just started ovulation induction. i responded really well to the injections i had the pregnyl injection as one follicule was 20mm 3 days later i flooded everywhere really heavy bleeding and period pain and a week later am still bleeding heavy.Is this normal? not having much feedback from the hospital im under thankyou Paula

Sorry to hear about your bleeding. I presume you have done a pregnancy test and you are not pregnant. If this is negative, you can take dicynone or cycklocapron tablets- three times a day for 3 days to stop the bleeding. Do you have a fibroid in the uterus ?

Hi, I was diagnosed with a yeast infection about a month ago. I was prescribed Diflucan and Nystatin cream. I used both and at the same time started what I assumed was my period, I always got it around the 30th or the 1st of each month, it was the 26th so I didnt think any different. But I started getting symptoms of the yeast infection again a week ago, I don't think I used the cream long enough, even after the symptoms were gone. So I started using the Nystatin cream again, but I started bleeding again on the 12th which is not normal. It really looks like menstrual discharge but it seems too early. I was wondering if the treatments could induce menstrual bleeding, or is it some kind of allergic reaction? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You cannot get rid of PCO ! it is a condition present in 20 % of women and is not " dangerous ". You have to lose weight. Once you do that, your periods will be more regular .Premarine and primolut might increase your weight. I suggest that you take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days every 35th day of the period (if you have not got one by then ), rather than premarine , primolut or diane throughout the cycle. This would cause less weight gain. When you plan to conceive , you might require further medication.

Did she get a normal period or only the white discharge ? Also, have a scan done on day 5 of the period to determine that the cyst has disappeared.
