Question
I was diagnosed endometriosis. I had a laprascopy to treat it and after
that my doctor put me on 3 doses (3 months) of Zoladex. My last Zoladex
injection is on July 1st. I would like to know when will my period
resume? Is it possible to conceive before my period resumed? Is it safe
to conceive after 4 weeks of the last Zoladex injection? Please help to
answer.
Thanks.
Answer
You should begin to ovulate by now. It is safe to conceive now.If you
have not yet got a period, do a urine test for pregnancy. If negative,
take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days. Later, do a
clear plan test to determine whether you are ovulating or not. Let me
know , so I can advice you further.
Question
I'm 24 yeard old not married by I'm sexually active. Two years ago I
started to feal some strange prich like a pin in my stomach some time up

me know if it is a serouse or it me be because of gas problem.
Answer
You can use momenta or travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days for the
itching.Have an ultrasound done to determine the reason for your pain.
You could have an ovarian cyst or a fibroid giving you the pain. Let me
know the result, so I can advice you further.
Question
I am 44 yrsv had one child in 1982 one abortion in 1991 and one
miscarriage in 2004. I Have been ttc from October 2004 after the
miscarriage. Had my last period on 12/6/06.Pregnancy test showed
positive and a scan was done and shows that the feotus inplanted
intrauterine and heart beat is seen. The doctor put me on Duphaston on
18/7/2006 for 30 days which I have been taking since 18/7/2006. Is it
safe for my baby considering my age and taking duphaston?
Answer
Duphaston is safe during pregnancy. However, because of your age, you
may have a higher risk of certain chromosomal abnormalities in the
fetus. Have a detailed scan done at 12 weeks, including a nuchal
thickness. This would determine whether you would require
amniocentesis.I presume you are taking folic acid tablets even before
you conceived and even now. All the best!
Question
I had a tubaligation after my 3rd child in 2004. My periods are not
regular anymore. So far I am 10 days late. I feel many menstrual cramps
but no bleeding is it normal for one to have irregular periods after a
tubaligation?
Answer
In some cases, yes. You can take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a
day for 5 days to induce a period. After that, have an ultrasound done
on day 4 or 5 of the period to determine whether you have an ovarian
cyst which is causing the irregular periods. If the scan is normal, have
your thyroid hormones checked, as an abnormality in these can also cause
irregular periods.
Question
I am 23. Up until now i have had fairly regular periods. This month i
haven't had one all month. is this something to worry about?
Answer
The period could be delayed due to stress, change in climate, traveling,
any infection or due to ingestion of certain medication. Since this has
only occurred once, you do not need to worry. Take duphaston tablets-
one tablet twice a day for 5 days to induce a period. If the problem
persists, have an ultrasound done and let me know the result.
Question
I have a yellowish-green mucas discharge comin my vigina. It has no
oder, i have no idea what it is ive had it for about a year. It comes
and goes I go to the ob-gyn but they never find anything. im kinda
scared cus i dont know what it is. i have had an abortion in the past,
right before this started. i know that i need to go to the doctor but do
you have any idea what is/could be wrong with me?
Answer
It maybe trichomonial or bacterial infection. Use betadine vaginal
pessaries. Ensure that you do not have any contraindications to its use.
If the problem persists, you need to do a vaginal smear and a culture
and sensitivity done to determine the type of infection you have and
take appropriate treatment. If you are sexually active, your partner
might also require treatment.

old daughteri am not ovulating after thyroidectomy(total)done on May
15th 2006. My hormone levels are 17-Beta Estradiol is 41,5, progestrone
0,29, FSH 6,1, LH 8,6 Prolactine 15,3. My TSH level 33,12. My doctor

this a serious problem. Please advice me. Is it advisable to take
hormones? I want to have a second child desperately. Thanking you and
awaiting your reply
Answer
RELAX ! Are you on any thryroid medication? What is the normal range of
the TSH in your lab. ? Also let me know your T4 levels and the range, so
I can advice you further. You can take clomid tablets to help you
ovulate. However, this should be taken where ultrasound monitoring is
possible. Let me know the results, so I can advice you further. All the
best !
Question
I'm 24 yr old mother of 4 i had my tubes tied
in 2004 my perion has been regular since. now my period is a mothly
late. I took a pregnancy test. and it came up negative. i wen to the
emergency room and they said i had a urinary tract infection. I want to
know would the UTI make the test read negative. Could I be pregnant?
What is the Next step I should take.
Answer
A urinary infection would not change the result of the pregnancy test.
However, that may , sometimes, cause a delayed period. Take duphaston
tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to induce a period. If the
problem recurs, have an ultrasound done and let me know the result.
Question
I've known that Primolut N can delay the period. My question is that if
I have a period next time on 25 august and I want to delay my period for
7 days when will I start/stop taking them ? Can I have sex without
getting pregnant during those 7 days?i already have a loop but does this
medicine make fertility more?
Answer
I was out of town, so could not answer your question earlier. You need
to start primolut one week before the expected period. By the time this
reaches you it would be late. Primolut is NOT a contraceptive, so you
would need some contraceptive use while on it. It does not increase
fertility either!
Question
I have a problem when I AM about to receive my period my back get so
sore and RECENTLY I had a yellowish discharge and it had a little bit of
water.Need advise what to do?
I went to the doctor and the told me it was a fungal infection and I am
so confused is it curable? Please advice
Answer
Fungal infection is curable. I presume you have received treatment for
that. Regarding your backpain before the periods, this is common and you
can take ponstan or cataflam for that. However, have a an ultrasound
done to determine whether you have an ovarian cyst or a fibroid which
maybe giving the pain.

!.8 to 2 cms. is fine, so you should get pregnant. Did you check whether
the follicle ruptured ?Sometimes the follicle does not rupture and you
may require an injection for that. All the best !

Answer
Sorry to hear that you did not conceive. You can have an HSG (
hysterosalpingography) done to check the tubes. This is less expensive
than a laparoscopy and it can be done in certain clinics. Let me know
the result, so I can advice you further. All the best !

lower back. I called my doctors office, and the nurse perscribed me
Nitrofur. She said it could be a bladder infection. Is Nitrofur safe for

Question
Dear doctor, I'm having an IVF. Two embryos have been placed back
yesterday. The doctor prescribed me prednisolone 5 mg and cardiprin 100
mg because of possible formation of antibodies, due to irritation of the
uterus during the procedure. Do those medicins effect the embryo's or
the possible pregnancie? Is there a higher risk of miscarriage? Please
answer, as I feel extremely uncomfortable taking these medications!!!!
Answer
Both these are safe during pregnancy . However, I prefer to give upto 81
mgm of aspirin. (instead of 100 mgm). These would reduce your chances of
miscarriage. All the best!
Question
Hi Doctor, I wrote to you 2 times before and never got an answer. I'm 41
yrs old and I do have fibroids in my breasts, but I did notice lately
that I have some pin drops of puss and blood coming from my right
nipple. Any ideas what this could be?
Answer
Your questions go to the omanaccess website and are then sent to me. I
send the answers to their website and they send the answers to you.
Regarding your problem , you MUST have a breast examination done as
fibroadenoma of the breast would NOT cause the pus or blood from the
nipple. It is essential to examine you and determine the cause and take
appropriate treatment.

you further.
Question
What are considered high levels of PGH at 6 weeks, and do these high
levels indicate twins?
Answer
Could you let me know the full term for PGH ? Is it progesterone
hormone? If yes, different labs. will have different ranges and only an
ultrasound would confirm whether you have twins.
Question
Hello Doctor, I was diaognized with PCOS last year. But now my periods
have got regularized but I have lots of menstural pain. Me and my
husband have been trying to conceive from past 5months but no success
yet. Last month doctor did transvaginal scan and found a follicle and
gave HCG injection 5000 units on my 18th day. She suggested intercourse
for 3 days after that. Still I could not get pregnant. What could be the
reason. Pls help.
Answer
Menstrual pain occurs in an ovulatory cycle- so you do not need to worry
about that. You can take cataflam or ponstan for the same. What is your
husband's recent semen report? Have your tubes been checked ? Let me
know the results, so I can advice you further. All the best !

Question
Doctor I am 24 years old and have been married for 2 years. My husband
is also 24. We have been having trouble beginning a family and have been
pregnant (officially) twice since we wed. However, both pregnancies
ended in miscarriage. The first pregnancy happened easily and with no
problems until I was 11 weeks pregnant and noticed some light spotting.
An ultrasound revealed a missed miscarriage and the baby had no
heartbeat and was measuring just over 9 weeks. A D&C was performed about
four days later and no reason was detected. We waited about three or
months later and got pregnant rather easily again. However, I noticed
strange spotting and clots from the beginning. However, HCG levels were
increasing as normal so the doctors weren't worried until one HCG test
came back and the levels were extremly high. My thyroid levels were
tested also and they were at 21.5. I was diagnosed as hypothyroid and
sent to a specialist. The doctor did an ultrasound and only a sac and
placenta were found (there was no baby). I was placed on Synthroyid and
a second D&C was performed. The tissues were tested and it was
determined to NOT be a molar pregnancy. My husband and I decided to wait
for my thyroid to normalize before trying to get pregnant again. My
thyroid levels went to a normal level rather quickly (within just about
two months) so my husband and I began trying again to get pregnant.
However, my periods have never returned to normal since I began taking
Synthroyid. All of my blood tests for common disorders and my thyroid
hormones (Free T3 & Free T4) are normal but my periods aren't regular. I
always had a 28-30 day cycle but my periods are anywhere from 36-45 days
apart. My last cycle was 48 days apart. I take pregnancy tests often
since my husband and I don't use protection but they are always
negative. I finally went to see my OBGYN to discuss this matter with her
and she cannot determine why my periods are not regular despite all of
my normal test results.! She suspects that I am not ovulating and does
not think my husband has any fertility issues. She also believes that I
am capable of getting pregnant since I have been at least twice before.
She is placing me on Clomid. I haven't taken it yet since I am waiting
for my next period to start. However, I have begun having strange very
light and almost clotty like spotting. I am currently at cycle day 24
and should not be bleeding at all for at least 4 more days. I took a
pregnancy test today just to see but it was negative. Could I be
pregnant? I am not cramping and not bleeding. Just spotting barely
enough for a pantiliner. The spotting began on cycle day 21 and was pale
pink. The following 2 days it was tan spotting and today it is a dark
brown spotting. The spotting is incredibly light and I am not sure if it
is a period or implantation bleeding or what. Before this, I was having
my periods incredibly far apart. I had my last period on July 18th and
it lasted five days and was actually very normal. I am SO confused and
feel helpless. My husband! and I are young and healthy despite my
thyroid which is under control. We don't drink, smoke, or do drugs and
we have no history of any severe medical conditions in our family. We
are active and have never had any STD's (we have only been with one
another sexually). We aren't sure what is causing our struggles to get
pregnant. Do you know what might be our fertility problem? Could I be
pregnant now? If I am not pregnant, should I begin taking Clomid or are
there other things I should do first? My husband and I are desperate to
begin a family. Please help us.
Answer
RELAX! I am sure you will have a baby soon ! You must ensure that your
thyroid levels remain normal, so continue to adjust the dose of the
synthyroid accordingly. Secondly, have your tubes been checked after the
last miscarriage? Have you done a PCT ( post- coital test ) This would
determine whether the sperms are dying in the cervix and whether you
require IUI ( intra- uterine insemination ) What is your husband's
recent semen result? Let me know all these, so I can advice you further.
I presume you are taking folic acid tablets. If you have not yet got a
period , do a pregnancy test . if positive, let me know so I can advice
you further. Which city are you in ?
Question
I have been experiencing light periods for the past few months. They
have lasted for 2-3 days raher than the 5 days. I also have feeling of
nausea, bloating, constatpation and fluttering movements in my stomach.
I have done 2 Hpt but both are negative. What is going on with me?
Answer
Have an ultrasound done to determine whether you have a an ovarian cyst.
You can take duphalac syrup for your constipation and eat a lot of
fibre. Avoid apples. Once your constipation is cleared, your nausea and
bloatedness should disappear. If not, let me know, so I can advice you
further.
Question
Hi: I stopped a monthly cycle when I was 47 years old. I am 60 years
now. I was divorced for 12 years until a new marriage of 2 1/2 years.
I've noticed for the past few months, that at certain times of the
month, I have mild cramping in my lower female region mainly my left
ovary. Sometimes I have hard pain in my left ovary. I have pap smears
once a year. The pain feels like someone is sticking a pin in it every
so often. It's a pulsating striking pain. I've noticed since I have
turned 60, I freguently urinate throughout the day and at night. This is
annoying. I don't have any kind of vaginal discharge and no vaginal
ordor. Can you give me some advise as what you think the pain might be
or what to do at this point. Thanks for your help.
Answer
Have a pelvic ultrasound done and let me know the result. Recurrent
urinary infection or frequency can occur due to the estrogen deficiency
associated with menopause. Using HRT ( hormone replacement therapy ) may
help. Is there vaginal dryness also? Let me know , so I can advice you
further.
Question
I am 38 years old and was diagnosed with POS about 4 years ago. In 2004
I had a dermoid cyst removed from my right ovary and also lost my right
ovary. Tried to get pregnant for several years. Doctor first put me on
Metformin, but also have to take Provera as needed. In Aug 2005 I became
pregnant but miscarried at six weeks. My first real period was four
months later in Jan 2006. The months following that had to take the
provera. April of the same year underwent fertility tests which came
back fine and my husbands test was also fine. Started my period in May
w/o provera and started taking 50 mg of Clomid, on 3rd round of Clomid
my doctor increased the dosage to 100 mg and each month I was on the
clomid I tested with a ovulation kit and found I was ovulating. Started
having alot of pain in pelvic area and an ultrasound found that I had a
cyst on my ovary. My blood work showed that the prev month my levels
were 9.2 and once the 100mg dosage it went to 34.4 which I bel!
ieve is why the cyst developed. Had one doctor tell me you cant take
Clomid while you have a cyst, another said you can. Is this true? Since
I only have one ovary I declined to keep taking the Clomid. Are there
other fertility drugs that might help me?
Answer
Sorry to hear about your cysts. You can take a combination therapy. Take
clomid as one tablet a day . Monitor on ultrasound on day 9 . If the
follicles are small, take fostimon or puregon or gonal - f injections
till the follicle reaches 18-20 mm. Then take pregnyl injection 5000
units to help you rupture. This may reduce the chances of the cyst
increasing in size. Careful ultrasound monitoring is essential for you.
Are your fallopian tubes patent ?
Question
Hi I have the problem the white jelly like fluid comes out from my
vigina is that normal.
Answer
If this is only around mid- cycle and does not have any odour or
associated with itching , it is the normal vaginal secretions due to the
hormone changes associated with the menstrual cycle.
