You probably have a fungal vaginal secretion, which is common during pregnancy. You must see your doctor who can examine you and depending on the type of discharge give you appropriate medication which is safe in pregnancy.

A few days ago I noticed a slight brown/red discharge when going to the restroom. It lasted for 3 days and the third day my lower back and abdomin really started hurting. The next day I started bleeding. I'm on my second day of bleeding. It's not more blood than a normal period but I am bleeding 14-18 days earlier than I should be on my menstral cycle. I only had an 18 day cycle when I started bleeding. 32-36 day cycles are normal for me and I've never started early in my life. I'm wondering. Could I be having a miscarriage? I don't even know if I am pregnant but I am sexually active so it is a possiblility. Could an exam tell whether I am having a miscarriage or if this is just an irregular cycle..or god forbid something worse?

Was your period delayed? If not , it cannot be a miscarriage. However, do a urine test like clear blue to determine whether you are pregnant. If not, see what happens during the next cycle. If again you have an early cycle, have an ultrasound done and let me know the report, so I can advice you further. ovulation bleeding does occur for 1-2 days around mid-cycle, but this is just spotting and not a regular flow.

The hormones in both are different. The pill is NOT a weight reducing agent, though some weight loss or gain does occur with these pills. Your choice of pill should be determined by various other factors. • On 9th day RT Ovary Follicles- Small Lt Ovary Follicles- Small Endo Thickness 7mm
• On 11th day RT Ovary Follicles – 13mm Lt Ovary Follicles- 12mm Endo Thickness 8mm

• On 13th day RT Ovary Follicles – 19mm Lt Ovary Follicles – 12mm Endo Thickness 9.5mm
• And the ovaries size are Rt Ovary 35 x 25 mm And Lt Ovary 34.5 x 24 mm

I wanted to know that is it ok for conceiving? I wanted to know when should I keep relations ( for conceiving) and what are normal size of follicles for above dates and pls suggest me any medicine pls it will be needful. The follicle on day 13 is good and the endometrium is also good, so you can conceive. Were you given any pregnyl injection on day 13 or 14 to help the follicle rupture? Also, were you given clomid for 10 days or 5 days? Usually, we give for 5 days and if the response is poor add injections like fostimon or puregon , rather than giving for 10 days. However, since your ovaries did not get enlarged unduly with that dose, it is fine as long as you are being monitored.If you do not conceive this month, let me know & I will let you know the names of the doctors near your area. Have a pelvic examination done and do a culture and sensitivity of the vaginal discharge. This will indicate what type of infection you have and what is the appropriate treatment for that. The examination will also reveal whether you have an erosion( ulcer) , but no other treatment is required for that during pregnancy.This is nothing to worry about, so relax !

Your wife would need treatment for the high prolactin- like parlodel or dostinex. Is her T4 also abnormal? Then , she would need treatment for that , too. Regarding you, your semen count & motility are fairly good and you do not need any surgery for the varicocele, as that would not help to improve the semen count or motility to a large extent. You should try IUI to increase the chances of pregnancy. Are your wife's tubes checked? Is she ovulating? Also, let me know which city you are in , so I can advice you further. All the best !

You probably have fungal infection. Use canesten vaginal pessaries for 6 nights. if the problem persists, have a pelvic examination done to determine the type of infection you have. A vaginal smear & / or a culture & sensitivity might be required.

Hi doctor, I have been taking puregon and femara for the past 10 days and was asked to stop Femara 2 days ago. But i am still on puregon, the last shot being this morning. However, when i wiped with tissue today after a pee i have some clear,thin sticky discharge that i suspect is a sign that i ovulated. Am i correct? My qiestion is, if we have intercourse tonight and hopefully be able to conceive, would the puregon shot i had this morning pose a risk of side effects to my pregnancy and baby? or is it totally fine? dear dr. since i was 18 i have battled with Endometriosis. I am now 21. I have been in for two aperoscops. The first time i had a chocolate cyst removed along with cartorizing the scar tissue on my uterus and ovaries. The second time i went under, the doctor did more cartorizing of the scar tissue caused from endometreosis.I have been on many types of treatments. Since this last laprescope I have been experienceing very abnormal things.First I am on Birthcontrol constent with out missing a week to have a period. I havent' had a period in about a year. FOr a couple of months i have been xperienceing major amounts of blood clots, just abnormal bleeding altogether.I'm always nauseous, dizzy, tired, my back lower back hurts, I"m having to urinate frequently,in consent pain with cramping in my abdomen,I also suffer from cysts bursting and i'm getting so sick to the point i pass out. I have been seeing my doctor and now need to go in for a third laperoscopy. I'm worried about a number of! things. First that they may need to do a hysterecotomy or find a tumor. I guess i would like yor opinion on what you think could be going on with my health and how i should deal with it.

Sorry to hear about your endometriosis. As you must be aware, there is no permanent treatment for endometriosis and it tends to recur. Are you still on the pill? If yes, and you are taking it continuously, this is why you do not have a period. Do you have a chocolate cyst now? Do send me the reports of both the scans- before and while on the pill to determine whether the size of the cyst has changed. The dizziness and nausea maybe due to the pill. Which pill are you taking? You must also do a urine test to rule out any urinary infection which maybe giving you the frequency and pain. If there is infection, you should take antibiotics. Why do you need another laparoscopy? Has the cyst increased or are your symptoms of abdominal pain
very severe? Since you are still young, I do not think you would require any hysterectomy. Do you have adenomyosis of fibroids ? Let me know all this, so I can advice you further.

Hi There, After no period for 4 months, I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin 500mg 2ce. a day. My period came 7 days after I started using metformin. 2days was normal and the 3rd day was very light. Is it strange to have it for just 3days??? Usually I am on my period for 5-7 days.Thanks

 PCOS is a condition present in 10-20 % of women and is associated with irregular periods. Metformin does help in some cases to regularise the periods. Scanty periods or for a shorter time is nothing to be worried about.

Hello! I am a 29 year old . I had my daughter in 1996. Ever since then I have had irregular periods that are very dark colored and will turn up your nose. I have no isea when they will appear or disappear. My mother passed when I was young from ovarian cancer and I worry maybe this could be linked. The docs have tried everything. Have you had an ultrasound done? This would reveal the presence of any cyst. If that is normal, you do not need to worry about ovarian cancer. However, you must do an ultrasound every 6 months. Are your thyroid hormones normal ? An abnormality in these can also cause irregular periods. Also do you have PCO( polycystic ovaries)? Do you have any vaginal or cervical infection? Are you using any contraceptives? Let me know all this, so I can advice you further.

im 5 weeks pregnant after just one course of clomid and metformin, had early scan but could not see anything is this normal?

An intra-uterine sac should appear at 5 weeks , unless you have ovulated after day 16. Repeat the scan after 10 days (of the previous scan) and a sac should be seen. If it is not, do a beta- hcg blood test to determine the pregnancy hormone. Repeat the test 72 hours later and let me know the results. There is a possibility of an ectopic( tube ) pregnancy , if a sac is not seen at 6 weeks ( around 4 weeks from ovulation ).

Dear Doctor, Thank you for your reply.I am 26 years old, got married since 1 year. Before 6 months did laparoscopy to remove chocolate cyst in my left ovary. I am trying to get pregnant for 5 months. But I couldn't and went for a check up. The Ultrasound scan result shows that again chocolate cyst is developing in the same ovary. Hormone levels, fallopian tubes(no blocks), uterus are normal. My husband's semen analysis report is also normal. Now the size of the cyst is nearly 5.3 cm in left ovary. Last month when I went for follicle study, in right ovary found two follicles which ruptured on 13th day. My doctor asked me to take a multivitamin tablet which contains folic acid and also Uterogestan 100 mg per day. The result is negative. You have suggested me to go for IUI. But my doctor said that I cant go for IUI cos if she is stimulating the ovary only cyst is developing not the follicles. This month she found cyst in right ovary also…the size of the cyst is increa! sing in both ovaries…she is telling that we will go for surgery again in September…am much worried and desperately I need a baby as soon as possible. Pls tell me what can I do to get pregnant? How often I can go for laparoscopy to remove the cyst? Why the cyst is developing again even though my hormone levels are normal??? Sorry to hear about your cyst . You can take provera tablets- 5mgm three times a day for 30 days. This will reduce the size of the cyst and may avoid another surgery. During that cycle, however, you should not get pregnant and not take clomid. Repeat the scan on the 4th day of the period( after the provera) and if the cyst has reduced try for pregnancy . Unfortunately, cysts tend to recur, so while the cyst is small , you should try to conceive. Have you ever done the PCT( post coital test )? This would indicate whether the sperms are staying alive in the cervix and whether you should have an IUI.

Dear Dr., I have been having irregular periods for a long time.. time intervals of two-three months at times. Dr. asked me to do a serum Prolactin, which showed results as 749.9mU/L. What does this mean?? what could be the reason for raise in prolactin levels. I have been trying to conceive since past six months with no success. Dr. has now put me on provera (from day 5 - for 20 days) and dostinex (05mg) twice a week. She asked me to come back after 2 months. Is it possible that I may conceive during this period. If so, would it harm the fetus, since I am on provera and dostinex. Please advise.

In some women the prolactin hormone is produced excessively, sometimes due to a small tumour in the brain and sometimes without the tumour, too. Have you done an x-ray of the skull or an MRI to rule that out ? You can conceive while on the dostinex ( though the leaflet mentions otherwise, studies in women who have conceived has not shown any deleterious effects). However, if you take provera from day 5 , you would not ovulate. Why has provera been given ? You could avoid the provera and take duphaston from the 20th day of the period, as it is safe during pregnancy.

Iam a 56 year old lady who has had a complete hysterectomy in 1993 and I went to the Dr because i havent felt up to power and they took a urine test and 3 different blood test and they are all comming up with high levels of HCG. Did you go to a G.P. or a gynecologist? Most gynecologists would be aware of the causes of the high hcg. There are many other reasons why the beta hcg ( pregnancy hormone ) is raised. One of them is an ovarian cyst like a dysgerminoma or a choriocarcinoma. Have an ultrasound done to rule that out and let me know. What is the level of the hcg? Is it rising ? The pituitary can also produce hcg. The following is the information on that :

It has long been known that the gonadotrope cells of the pituitary produce LH and FSH under the control of hypothalamic GnRH. GnRH is regulated by ovarian steroids. You can take calcium tablets- 500 or 600 mgms a day . During pregnancy, the calcium requirements are increased and diet alone is not sufficient . What did you mean by"stopping the .....feel free"? Which tablets did you stop? What do you mean by " free "? You can take navidoxin or pregnidoxin for the vomitting. Have you done a scan? Is there an ovarian cyst or a fibroid? These can also cause abdominal or back pain in some cases.
