but nothing happened then doctor gave me primolut N 2 pill a day and on

Answer
You should not get bleeding while you are taking Primolut N. if you are
in Oman, you can see me and after examining you I can advice you
accordingly. If you are not, you will have to see your gynec. to decide
on the further treatment.
Question
Mam I want to delay my periods for 8-10 days for my exams, I m
breastfeeding, Please suggest me tablets to be taken
Answer
Since you are breast feeding, any medicine which you may take to delay
the period might reduce your milk. The safest would be to take duphaston
tablets- one tablet twice a day till you wish to delay the period
Question
Hello Doctor, I am a 31year old female with PCOD. I have been having
irregular menstrual cycle since the time I got married, about 7 years
back. I have gained a lot of weight since, almost 30 kgs. We have a girl
child of about 3 years, that pregnancy was clomid induced I presume, as
the Gynecologist then prescribed it after treating over bleeding and
continuous bleeding. Since her birth, I have been having again the
similar kind of problems. for 7 months after her birth, I was bleeding
continuously. and again have been on provera for 6 months. We want to
have another child. I am not sure how to go about it. now I am having my
periods which have started almost 15 days back. firstly, I need to stop
it. do I take provera? and start fertile from now? can I take the 2
drugs simultaneously? I ask you all this because we live in Japan , and
the doctors here do not speak English and I cannot convey all this to
them.
Thank you
Answer
First of all, clomid is given to induce ovulation and not to reduce the
bleeding. To stop your bleeding now, take dicynone tablets -one tablet
three times a day for 3 days. Do you have a fibroid in the uterus? Wait
till your next period and then start fertyl - one tablet a day for 5
days from the third day of the period. You must have at least one scan
done on day 11 or 12 of the period. I am sure there will be someone to
translate for you. Let me know the size of the follicles on that scan
and I can advice you further. All the best!.
Question
Dear Dr Before I got pregnant at the age of 19 I had never felt any
abnormal movement inside of my abdomen, but since I had my baby a year
after I start feeling these abnormal movement as if I have another baby
inside of my stomach is it a possibility that it could be my womb.
Answer
No, the womb does not move around in the abdomen ! This maybe due to gas
or some other problem in the colon or intestines. However, have an
ultrasound done as this will determine whether you have an ovarian cyst
which , if large, can move to a certain extent.
Question
Hey doc I have been on birth control to regulate my periods for years.
the past three years I have not been having sex. I still am on the pill
I recently had sex on a Saturday and then again the next Friday, the
middle of the week I started bleeding (the bleeding was 2 wks after my
last period ended). I had sex again the following Friday and have not
stopped bleeding yet. its light but still very concerning to me. I would
normally start my period again in one more week.. could the bleeding be
from not being sexually active for so long or am I looking at a problem.
Answer
Had you forgotten the pill or taken it at a different time ? This could
cause the bleeding. If you are still bleeding, take dicynone or
cycklocapron tablets- one tablet three times a day for 3 days. See what
happens during the next cycle. If the problem persists have a pelvic
examination done as this would reveal if you have a cervical erosion or
polyp which can cause the spotting.
Question
Dear Doc, We have been trying to conceive for over a year now but
failed. I have carried all the pregnancy tests. The ultra sound only
showed that my right tube of the Ovary is blocked and that I do no
ovulate. I do have irregular periods and the discharge comes with big
blood clots and it is very painful. I and my husband are desperate for a
baby, what shall we do?
Answer
First of all, an ultrasound will not show blocked tubes, unless you did
a hysterosonography where a dye is injected into the uterus and the scan
is done at the same time. Is that how your tubes have been checked.
Secondly, do a clear plan test to determine whether you are ovulating or
not. If you are not, take clomid tablets. However, you must have
ultrasound monitoring done while on clomid to determine which is the
fertile period and that you are not forming any cysts. Let me know your
husband's semen report and also the exact report of the tube testing, so
I can advice you further.
Question
First date of my last period is 18.02.06. I have tested with pregcolor
card on 02.04.06 when two pink/purple bands appear, one in the region
marked 'C' and the other in the region marked 'T' properly and I am
under treatment of Gynecologist who prescribe me the followings:
1.
Folvite - twice in a day
2.
Doxinate - twice in a day
3.
Susten200 - twice in a day.
4.
Thyronorm50 - once in a day
On 23.04.06 I have tested again with pregcolor card and the line formed
in region 'T' is faint. Is there any problem. Please reply and advice.
Thanks,
Bisakha Dasgupta.
Answer
The line should not be faint. You must do an ultrasound to determine how
the pregnancy is. A sac should be seen on a vaginal ultrasound at 5
weeks. Also, have a beta hcg blood test done. Let me know the results,
so I can advice you further.
Question
I am 25 year old. I did laparoscopy before 2 years for pcos. I am trying
to get pregnant for five years. Now I am under the treatment. I took
metfor for three months. now I am taking folic acid tablets, after three
months doctor told to come. After that she told to take infertility
medicines as per her advise. How many years I can take treatment for
this problem? Is this is a solving problem?
Answer
PCOS is a condition present in 10-20 % of women and remains for the rest
of your life. However, with adequate treatment women can get pregnant.
Are you ovulating? This can be determined by the clear plan test. If you
are not, you will need to take clomid tablets. However, you must have
ultrasound monitoring done while on clomid to determine which is the
fertile period and that you are not forming any cysts, which will be
common with PCOS. Continue to use folic acid and even metformin as it
helps some women to ovulate. Are your tubes patent? What is your
husband's semen report ? Let me know, so I can advice you further. All
the best !.
Question
Is it possible to be pregnant and still be menstruating but not every
month. its normally seize during the month at times. Pls I need to know
if I'm pregnant or not cos I cant go to the doctor now. Pls help me?
Answer
If you are pregnant, you can still bleed, though it is not a "period ".
It is a case of threatened abortion, where you may lose the baby. Do a
pregnancy test and if positive, have an ultrasound done to determine how
the fetus is.
Question
I HAVE A WEIRD DISCHARGE WITH A STRONG ODOR THAT WORSENS DURING SEX, IT
LOOKS KIND OF LIKE IM BLEEDING BUT DARKER AND SMELL REALLY BAD, WHAT
COULD THIS BE?
Answer
You must see a gynecologist who can determine whether the discharge is
due to infection and the type of infection. It may also be
intermenstrual bleeding due to a polyp or an erosion of the cervix.
Appropriate treatment can then be given.
Question
Doctor, for a long time now I have been having heavy vaginal discharge.
It it thick white and a very thick texture. I have had a swab taken but
came back negative for any infection. it is not painful in any way, it
just seems to be a personal problem. is there anything I can do to
minimize the discharge? my gynecologist recommended an operation to
remove some of the mucus producing glands, but I don't want to go to
those measures unless there is no other way.
Pease help.
Maddy
Answer
It sounds like fungal infection. Have you used canesten vaginal
pessaries for 6 nights? You can also use diflucan or candivast tablet as
a single dose. If you are not using any contraceptive method, eat the
tablet on the second day of the period to ensure that you are not
pregnant while taking the tablet.
Question
Hi Dr, I have my period right now and I am using tampons. I have this
really smelly stench that discharged, there is no color. I only get this
when I wear a tampon.
Answer
I think you should avoid tampons as they are associated with certain
infections in some cases. If you have to use them, first have your
infection cleared and then use the normal tampons ( not the super ones )
, so that you can change them more often. This might reduce the smell.
Question
My daughter is sixteen and still has not had her menstruation.
What kind of doctor should I take her to?
Answer
See a gynecologist who can examine her for secondary sexual characters
like breast development and presence of pubic or axillary hair. An
ultrasound will also reveal that the uterus and ovaries are fine. Also
have a serum FSH done . Let me know the results, so I can advice you
further.
Question
They found a right simple ovarian cyst 3.8cm. I have been having a lot
of stomach upset, waist pain, thigh and pelvic pain. The following month
they did another sono the cyst is still 3.8cm no change. But in the sono
report they wrote this could be evaluated further. The uterus is also
12.7cm in lenght. My gyn doctor told me it is up to me if I want it
removed. That he is not concerned I have been having a lot of stomach
upset, constipation. Can a cyst make you feel so sick. Should I be
concerned about having ovarian cancer?
Answer
You have not told me your age, so I cannot tell you regarding the chance
of cancer. However, since the cyst is not increasing, the chances of
cancer are reduced. Have you been given any medication to try and reduce
the cyst ? That would help.Which city are you in ? Let me know, so I can
advice you further . Regarding your constipation, eat a diet rich in
fibre and you can take duphalac syrup.
Question
Ps doc. am 26yr married and I want to know what causes excess viginal
fluid before and after sex. is there any associated infectious and what
are the solution? thank you doc. the fluid is the normal one but plenty?
Answer
During intercourse there is an increase in the normal vaginal
secretions. Also, after intercourse, the semen would come out of the
vagina and you may mistake it for your vaginal secretions. This is
normal, so don't worry about it.
Question
How to tighten your virgina?
Answer
There are certain exercises to help increase the vaginal muscle tone. I
cannot explain them by e- mail. You will have to see a gynecologist for
this.
Question
I am using Cyclogest pessaries in conjunction with ICIS treatment, does
it make any difference whetner you use the pessaries vaginally or
rectally in realtion to absorption. Vaginally, I find some on my
underwear, and I wonder if it would be absorbed better rectally.
Thank you for any help you could give me.
Answer
Soreness, diarrhoea and flatulence may occur with rectal
administration. You can try it rectally and then decide which route is
more convenient for you. The absorption by both routes are not
significantly different.
Question
I have 28 years I've been trying to conceive since 8 months yest I had
an ultrasound it was the 11'st day the doctor say that there is a
follicule cyst on my left ovary but it can be an ovule it was 2,2cm if
it was a cyst it ca be the cause to prevent conceiving
Answer
On the 11th day a cystic area seen on ultrasound could be a follicle (
egg ) or a cyst in the ovary. Repeat the ultrasound on day 4 of the
cycle. If it is not seen, then that was a follicle. During the next
cycle, do a scan on day 11 and day 15 of the cycle and see whether the
follicle grows to 20mm. If not, you may need to take clomid in the next
cycle. Let me know, so I can advice you further. All the best !
Question
Doctor I've been trying to got pregnant since 8 months ago I have pain I
the lower abdomen I did ultra sound yest the doctor says there is a
folicule cyst in the left ovarian I want to know the cyst is a cause to
not conceive?
Answer
I think you have asked this question earlier. Anyway, on the 11th day a
cystic area seen on ultrasound could be a follicle ( egg ) or a cyst in
the ovary. Repeat the ultrasound on day 4 of the cycle. If it is not
seen, then that was a follicle. During the next cycle, do a scan on day
11 and day 15 of the cycle and see whether the follicle grows to 20mm.
If not, you may need to take clomid in the next cycle. Let me know, so I
can advice you further. All the best !
Question
Hi I am garima I am 23 year old I never had menstruation cycle so what
are treatments of this problem?
Answer
See a gynecologist who can examine you for secondary sexual characters
like breast development and presence of pubic or axillary hair. An
ultrasound will also reveal that the uterus and ovaries are fine. Also
have a serum FSH done . Let me know the results, so I can advice you

Question
Hi Doctor, I am 30 yrs old and have irregular periods from age 14 (I go
without having a sigle period for years together). I was told I have
PCOD after repeated pelvic scanning at around 18. I saw several doctors
and asked them how I would be able to conceive if I am not getting my
periods, all of them assured me when I am married I can go see a doctor
and with the advanced technology nowadays conceiving will not be a
problem. I am married for 3 yrs now & I am serious about conceiving from
the past year. I was given Glyciphage (metformin hydrochloride) for 6
months and I got 3 periods every 2 months(normal ones with 3 days of
bleeding). I didn't know aboput the ovulation kits then so I am not sure
I ovulated. Also I was told not to conceive while taking the medication.
Then later I came to know it was ok to conceive while taking the
medication. During this period I was diagnosed as having hypo thyroidism
& am taking .025mg levothyroxin for the past 2 months. Also I took plain
Metformin! for the past 4 months (have stopped now - need to get a HSG
done in another 2 weeks or so). Each month around 20th I get pelvic
pain, back aches etc., symptoms worse than PMS & they last for 5-6 days
and then nothing happens. ie., I don't get my periods nor am I pregnant.
Is it ok to conceive while on Metformin? If so then can the medicine be
taken while pregnant? I have been reading about PCOD in the net for the
last couple of months & I am really scared that I won't be able to have
a successful pregnacy with all my health problems. Why is it that
Metformin worked for me the first time (I had taken birth control pills
for 7 months before trying glyciphage) but not now? I haven't had my
period from last august though I saw 3-4 drop of blood around december
20th. Being hypothyroid along with PCOD have compounded my problems??? I
am seeing an Ob-Gyn but I feel she is not taking into concern my PCOD &
answering all my questions. Please help....
Thanks,
Shama
Answer
RELAX! Recent studies have found that glyciphage can be given even
during pregnancy in women with PCOD and it also helps to reduce the
incidence of miscarriage in them . So, you can continue to take it. You
have not informed me regarding your blood tests- serum FSH & LH on day 3
of the cycle. Let me know that, so I can advice you further. You may
need to take clomid tablets to conceive in addition to the glyciphage.
In the meantime, continue folic acid and your thyroid tablets.
Question
My sister has had two IVF episodes. Now during her menstral periods, she
complains of un-bearable pain and every thing she has tried does her no
good. Her OB/GYN tells her that the only rememdy if for her to concieve
the natural method which for !. Her spouse has problem with. 2. She has
three kids and does not want any more children. Also she says she is
always fertile and at the risk of being pregnant Are there any remedies
to her problem?
Thanks
Dominic
Answer
What is the result of her ultrasound done on day 5 of the cycle? Let me
know, so I can advice you further. Also, in the meantime, she can take
cataflam tablets to reduce the pain - one tablet twice a day for 3 -4
days during the period. I don't think the pain should increase after IVF
, unless she has formed cysts in the ovaries. What is her husband's
semen report? Are both her tubes patent? Let me know, so I can determine
whether she can try naturally or would require IVF again.
Question
Hello Doctor, I have been trying to concive from past 4 months but the
results were negative, this month I had the follicular analysis and
doctor gave me 5000IU anti HCG injection and 6 days after the injection
doctor adviced me to take the duphoston tablets(10mg) for 8 days (1
tablet a day). What is the use of this tablet and I used to take the
pain killers during the periods for menstrual cramps, does these tablets
cause infertility?
Answer
Duphaston is a progesterone which helps the pregnancy . It is safe in
pregnancy. You can take pain killers during the next period. However, if
you have scanty bleeding, check that you are not pregnant before taking
the pain killers.
Question
Got itching near my clitoris & redness in one spot & scar near that. I
have got chicken pox now. is it because of that. please reply?
Answer
It could be due to the chicken pox. You can , however, use momenta
ointment twice a day for 5 days to reduce the itching and any secondary
bacterial infection that might be present.
Question
HELLO! JUST WANNA ASK IF WHAT MEDECINE CAN I DRINK TO HAVE A MENSTRATION
I WAS DELYA TWO MONTHS I THINK... BUT I TEST A URINE PEGNACY TEST BUT
ITS NEGATIVE. WHAT DO U THINK WAS IT?
Answer
You can use duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days. It
could be due to various factors like stress, fever, travel etc. If the
problem persists in the next cycle, have an ultrasound done on day 5 of
the period and let me know the result.
Question
I have polysystic overies and I don't have a period every month. I have
just started seeing a lovely man, how do I tell him that I have
polysystic overies and also, how would we go about getting pregnant when
the time was right. Thanks.
Answer
!0-20 % of women have PCO , so you need not worry about it. With
medication, you can conceive. However, have blood tests done- serum FSH
& LH on day 3 of the cycle and let me know. Only if the FSH is high, you
would not be able to conceive.
Question

Answer
You can use polygynax vaginal pessaries to clear any infection that
maybe present. If the problem persists, see a gynec.

Question
last 2004 I was diagnose to have a corpus luteum cyst (5cm) right
ovary.last April 18, 2006 I had my ultrasound since I wanted to get
pregnant.Result: right ovary has 7 cm ovarian cyst suggestive of an
enometrial cyst, a myoma 2cm on my uterus and pelvic adhesion. I never
had pains every menstrual period, that's why this is a big shock to me.i
never had surgery before and never been pregnant. my gyne's only option
is to have the cyst remove (surgery).she didnt give me any medicine
since I wanted to get pregnant. she said I have an endometriosis. is
this true? I don't want to undergo any surgery, will the cyst just go
away on its own? pls help me
Answer
Sorry to hear about the cyst. I usually give medication to reduce the
cyst , but it may not be effective now since it is so large already.
Which city are you in ? Let me know, so I can advice you further. It
maybe endometriosis and you can try without surgery. You do not need any
treatment for the myoma.
Question
Please help, .. my poor niece is at her whits end... Shes 21 and had a
misscarriage 7 weeks into her pregnancy and 4 weeks on is in horrendous
abdominal pain with alot of swelling. She was refered for a scan on her
tubes which wasnt done as the dr she was refered to said that due to her
symptoms etc she must have pasted the fetus so it wasnt needed. She had
a quick scan where the ultrasonographer(sp?) said there was a 'blob'
that could have been a 5 week foetus or blood. She had several internal
exams and was in hospital after the misscarriage on a drip as she was
severaly aneamic but other than that she had no other treatment.. no one
is looking into her growing belly,or her severe abdominal pains, they
jsut say that the size of her stomach 'isnt quite right'.Shes 5 ft 6, uk
size 10 and weighs 9 stone so shes not over weight but her belly looks
like shes 5 months pregnant. 4 weeks on she has just done a pregnancy
test and [clear blue] and it shows possitive. Whats going on!!!!! Its
not that we feel shes still pregnant, but there is something very very
wrong. having said that the emergancy dr she saw did say he wasnt
convinced it wasnt an eptopic pregnancy, but again its go to the GP in
the morning, then its go home!... what can she do now. please!!!. where
can we go to get help, do we have the right to DEMAND a scan on her
fellopian tubes to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. What about cysts,
would that show up on a scan. Shes not a moaning kind of person and
muddles through whenever shes ill so i know shes really really ill. She
jsut finished her training as a police officer and needs to get back to
full recovery to start her career let alone anything else. Shes
desperate, who can we turn to to insist they find out whats wrong
instead of passing her from one doctor to another.
Many thanks. Tracey [desperate aunt]
Answer
Sorry to hear about your niece's problems. When was the last scan done (
when a "blob " was seen ) ? If it is already 10 days since then, repeat
the scan to determine whether there is a new pregnancy . If no sac is
seen there is a chance of an ectopic pregnancy. She would need to do a
blood test - beta hcg and repeat it 72 hours later to see whether it is
rid\sing or falling. I am sure under the circumstances an ultrasound
should be asked for. Unfortunately, an ultrasound may not show an
ectopic pregnancy in the tube in some early cases, but it would show the
presence or absence of the sac within the uterus and then the beta hcg
test would help.
Question
Hello doc. I had written to u 2 months back. I was not conceiving and
was under treatment for it, I had high prolactin level and given
medication for it. however by gods grace I concived this month the blood
test showed positive result for pregnancy. but when I went for check up
the dr gave me pregnyl injection can u pls tell me why did she gave it?
Thanking u in advance
Answer
Congratulations ! I am happy to hear that you are pregnant ! Pregnyl
injection is given in some cases to prevent a miscarriage . however,
have an ultrasound done at 5 weeks to ensure that the pregnancy is
within the uterus. What dose of pregnyl was given and how often ?
Question
Dr. my egg size is 13*12mm in second week of periods and I've also
irregular periods, I m trying to conceive but not getting it, I m so
depress, 1 year has been passed to my marriage and still I m not
conceiving?
Answer
Your follicle size seems slightly low if on day 15 of the cycle, but it
is nothing to worry about. You can take certain injections like pergonal,
merional or gonal -f to increase the size of the follicle during the
next cycle. Had you taken clomid during that cycle? If yes, what dose ?
Question
Hi Doctor, I am 32 Years and trying to conceive for last 5 years. My
last LMP was on 23rd March and I had my 2nd IUI on 1st & 3rd April and
my ovulation was on 2nd April. I am using progesterone inject able gel
once in a day. Is it possible that my period is late due to
progesterone, I am also having itching and lower abdomen pain as it
happens before periods. When should I stop taking progesterone?
Answer
You should do a urine test for pregnancy 15 days after the IUI. Continue
the gel at least till then. Some of us, would continue the progesterone
upto 12 weeks of pregnancy. You will have to consult your doctor
regarding that. All the best !
Question
Dr. Please help. I am 27 years old and I am having bleeding in between
my periods. Yes, it occurs around ovulation time and is a red and in
brown color. I went to the Dr and had a PAP test and blood work done.
Everything came back normal. My Dr felt my uterus also and said it feels
normal. She is sending me for an ultrasound just in case but does not
seem to be worried. I wish I could say the same about me. I really want
to have kids some time soon, as my husband and I have been married for 2
years and have been talking a lot about it. Can you advise me on what my
problem could be? Thanks
Answer
RELAX ! All your tests are normal. Ovulation bleeding for 1-2 days
around mid- cycle is common. However, was there a cervical erosion or
polyp when the Pap smear was done ? That could also give rise to some
intermenstrual bleeding. Have a clear plan test done to determine when
you are ovulating and check whether your spotting is at the predicted
ovulation time.

done on day 5 of the cycle and let me know the result.
Question
Hello doctor, I am a 27 yrs old married woman. I had laprotomy done in
December -05 to treat severe stage-4 endometriosis and endometrioma. at
that time doctor found that my tubes are blocked with adhession. I had
severe pain and bad time before the operation and I was unable to get
pregnant.now I want to now what are my chances of getting pregnant. can
I get pregnant on my own? is the IVF only hope for me or can I get IUI
treatment. after the opperation doctor didn't gave me any drug. is it
ok. I mean is there any chance that endometriosis can grow again. please
give me some advice asap.
I will be very thankfull to you.
Naheed
Answer
Sorry to hear about your problem .Can you send me the complete report on
laparotomy? If both your tubes are blocked , you will need to do IVF.
Usually, decapeptyl or zoladex injections or danazol tablets are given
after the surgery for 3-4 months.Unfortunately, endometriosis can recur,
but then can be reduced by the drugs that I have mentioned.
Question
My menstrual cycle came early, a week after I just had it and the color
of the discharge is very dark. A Brownish black with a bit of red
spotting... I know this isn't normal, what could be the cause of this?
Answer
Many factors can cause this like stress or certain infections etc. You
may have ovulated early during this cycle. However, since the period was
scanty, do a urine test for pregnancy . If positive, see your doctor
immediately. If it is negative and the problem recurs during the next
cycle, have an ultrasound done to rule out any ovarian cyst or fibroid.
Question
I shave my bikini line and right where the elastic of my underwear hit,
I tend to get kind of large bumps that look like pimples that I assumed
were normal ingrown hairs. This time, however, the bump appears to be
full af a dark blue-purple liquid, kind of the color of a bruise. Do you
know what it may be? Is it normal? And what should I do about it?
Answer
Is the elastic too tight ? Or you maybe allergic to this elastic. Use
hirudoid ointment twice a day for 5 days . If it does not settle, see a
doctor.
Question
Hi I have found out that my ex-boyfriend was unfaithful with a few
different women while we were together. I have noticed that in-between
periods my vaginal discharge is a yellow brown color and the smell can
sometimes be fairly strong, regardless of my menstrual cycle. I do not
feel ant pain along with these symptoms. Is this normal? If not, I
suppose it suggests that I have and STD (I was on the pill and we did
not use condoms). If I do have an STD what do these symptoms suggest it
is?
Answer
You would need to do a vaginal smear to determine what type of infection
you have and that would determine some of the STDs. A blood VDRL test
would also help. Appropriate treatment can then be given.
