Question
I was pregnant but my baby died at 9 weeks I
had it removed at 12 weeks.im worried because I
live in turkey now and dont understand the doctors. have had a cone biop
followed by an in fection of the womb witch was treated and also had
alot of problems in that area. However we sent the baby for tests the
results come back that it was down syndrome but all organs was formed
fine,if this is so why did it die? and is there anything
I can do so it does not happen again?
Answer
Sorry to hear about your abortion. However, I am a bit confused by what
you have mentioned. Did you have a cone biopsy during the pregnancy or
prior to that. A down's syndrome baby has many problems including those
of the heart which may not have been detectable at that stage of
pregnancy. What is your age ? Also, are you & your husband cousins ? Let
me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
I'm trying to get pregnant. My menstral bleeding normally starts about
the 25th or 26th day. This time it did not start and I thought I was
pregnant but it started on the 31st day. Any advice?
Answer
You may have ovulated late during the last cycle. Since you wish to
conceive, start folic acid tablets. This helps prevent certain
abnormalities in the child. Also, do a clear plan test to determine when
you are ovulating & when your most fertile period would be. If you find
you are not ovulating, let me know, so I can advice you further. Has
your husband's semen examination been done ? What is the result?
Question
Dear Dr. My wife is pregnant for second time. She delivered our Son by
C-section (an emergency C-section due to slow progress). She conceived
nearly 19 months post child birth and now in first trimester check up
she has identified with Anti-E antibodies (<1:1) and Anti-K (kell)
antibodies 1:2 proportion. I am aware that if the baby is Anti-E or
Anti-K positive then likely the titres are going to increase and place
baby under risk of Hemolytic Disease of Newborn. We however will not be
in USA for all the time of pregnancy and wondered if such high risk
pregnancy be handled in towns of India. Because we may need to go for
routine check up to find titre of these two antibodies once a 4 week in
first two trimester and from week 29 may be once a two week. If required
delivery might have to be advanced to 36-37th week. Please put your
opinion and suggestions for any alternative tests in India or medication?
Answer
I am sure most of the test would be available in cities like mumbai,
delhi, bangalore etc. You should check with a renowned lab. in the city
you are going to be in regarding the facilities they have. Also, if you
are planning a delivery there, ensure that it is carried out in a centre
where neonatal facilities are excellent.
Question
I was treated with Fertyl 50, followed by Nugan 3shots, and then
I ovulated. Later I
was put on HCG 10,000, HCG 5000 and HCG 5000 along with Proluton depo
500, 250 and 250. After this treatment, my gyno told me that if
I get pregnant, then I
will not have bleeding and if I am not then
I will have heavy bleeding. I also used Gestin
from the day of ovulation, twice a day. I was on a vacation after this
and on my 30th day, I noticed brown discharge
for about 3-4 days. now the discharge has stopped but left me confused,
all the more since my doctor is out of the town. Am I
pregnant now? Your answer will be really REALLY helpful to me. Shall
wait for the reply vani.
Answer
Please let me know what " nugan " is , as I do not have it in Oman & I
could not find the name on the drug list on the internet either. I
presume it was a gonadotrophin. Have you done a pregnancy test ? If it
is negative, this is a period. If it is positive, have a scan done at 6
weeks ( since the first day of the last period) to determine whether
your pregnancy is within the uterus & that the heart beat is present.
All the best !
Question
I was wondering if taking cephalexin have its
effect on conception, I took it for a month

has effects on my babys development,i took medication on february and
missed my period on march, I suspected my
babys firstmonth is february, I was confirmed
pergnant only this April, will cephalexin
affect my baby?
Answer
Cephalexin is a Category B drug and , though no studies have been
carried out during pregnancy, its use has not been observed to cause any
abnormalities in the baby. So,your baby should be fine.
Question
Dear Doctor, I am 24 years old and its been one year of my mariage .
Since first day I am trying o conceive but
could'nt. My periods are irregular since the begining.Sometimes I've
periods aftwer 3 months. I am diagnosed of PCOD, my doc has put me on
half Cabgolin0.5 once a week, with a metformin and M2Tone syrup followed
by Duphaston from 15th day for 15 days. Earlier she had put me for 3
cycles on Letoval and Duphaston but it didnt help as in the third cycle
my ovulation study did'nt showed any ovulation. Doc pls tell me frankly
is it possible for me to conceive and is it the right course?
Answer
Why was carbogolin given? Was your prolactin high? Metformin is fine.
What day of the cycle did you do the scan ? Were you given any
injections to increase the size of the follicle? Let me know, so I can
advice you further.
Question
My husband and I have noticed that my
discharge smells like onion...and sometimes he says my breath does too.
Could there be some kind of diffiecency? Or am I just eating too many
onions? It doesn't seem like I eat an excess of onions for it to do
that. So I thought I'd ask?
Thank, Kelly
Answer
Have a vaginal smear done to determine whether you have any vaginal
infection. Let me know the result, so I an advice you further. Regarding
your breath, you can see a dentist or an E.N.T . surgeon to determine
whether there is any local lesion causing that.
Question
I have 2 puregon injections cycles failed im
on the 3 cycle on day 9 I have 4 follicles
sizes 1.2,1.3,1.4,1.5 I have pcos is good or
can u be send me back or send me email help me Question: hi,i had my
period last March 20,2006 then it again came on April 21, 2006.I had
unprotected sex on the 6th day of my menstration. Then no sexual contact
follows, can I have a pregnancy test on the 10th day to make sure
I am pregnant? When is the right time to have
pregnancy test? Am I ovulating by the time we had sex?
Answer
I doubt you can be pregnant on day 6 of the cycle, when your follicles
were only 1.5 cms on day 9. A urine pregnancy test is positive 15 days
after ovulation. You can determine ovulation by doing a clear plan test
( if you are not using any medication ) or by ultrasound.

You must monitor your ovulation by ultrasound. Let me know the size of
the follicles on day 12 of the period and the dose of siphene taken.
What is your husband's semen report? Have your tubes been checked after
the last miscarriage ?
Question

infection. When was your last treatment? Let me know all these, so I can
advice you further.
Question
Hi, we have been trying for a baby
for11months,since dec05 I havent had what
I would call a period its been dark
discharge, been to doctors he said nothing to worry about what do you
think?
Answer
Dark discharge as a period is nothing to worry about. Are you ovulating
? This can be determined by a clear plan test. What is your husband's
semen count? Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
Dear Doctor, I am 30 yrs old having PCOS.
I am trying to conceive for the last year.
whenever I take duphaston to get a period, the
period comes very heavy with big clots and then I
need to take Ponstan to control the flow. This happens whenever
I take duphaston and PrimolutN. Pls advise if
this could be harming me in the long run. Is there anyway
I can avoid duphaston and get my periods
through some other method?
Thank you.
Answer
Since you are planning to conceive, you should be ovulating. Do a clear
plan test to determine that. If you are not, you will require clomid
tablet. However, ultrasound monitoring is essential when you are taking
that. Do you get heavy periods after duphaston only when your period has
been delayed or even when the cycle is every 30 days? Let me know, so I
can advice you further.
Question
Hi doctor I am
trying to get pregnant went to a doc in India
and did all the tests requierd all was fine y doc gave me sephene
tablets to take for 3 cycles so can u plz advise me for what is this
tablet and when will I get pregnant?
thanx
Answer
Siphene helps you to ovulate. However, you must do ultrasound monitoring
to determine when you are ovulating and that you are not forming cysts.
All the best !

Answer
Are you ovulating ? This can be determined by the clear plan test. What
is your husband's semen report? have your breasts been examined by a
gynecologist or a surgeon ? Is your prolactin hormone normal? Let me
know all these, so I can advice you further.
Question
Hello doctor Thanks for spending time to answer. I am 26 and living in
UK. My periods became irregular after marriage (11/2003) I Had a
miscarriage in last June at 3-4 weeks (I am sure as my periods were
irregular). In Dec 2004 i went to India and gone for test. She tested
and said I have very llittle symtoms of pcod. As we r planning for
pregnancy she gave me siphene 200mg perday from 3rd-7th day of my period
and progynova from 3rd day to 10th day. I have taken the tablets and
went for ultrasound every alternative day to study my ovulation. She
said I am ovulating on 20th day after my period. I came back to UK in
feb and using tablets regularly. I had regular periods from dec-march.
My last period was 14th march and I didn't have my period yet. I have
done 2 home pregnancy tests they turned back neg. I went to doctor and
she repeated the same urine test and came back neg but i am experiencing
pigmentation on my nose and cheeks as i experienced in my first
pregnancy (ended in miscarriage. Can u plz tell me what could be the
reason and what to do next.Waiting eagerly for ur reply. Thanks
Answer
Do a blood test- beta hcg. This will confirm whether you are pregnant or
not. Also, are you monitoring your ovulation by ultrasound after taking
siphene? This is important to determine your most fertile period. Also,
it would ensure that you are not forming any ovarian cysts after the
siphene. Let me know all these, so I can advice you further.
Question
I am 41 years old and trying to conceive. I have had 6 healthy
pregnancies and have always conceived very easily. My husband and I
decided last summer to have one more child. Last August (2005) I
experienced a miscarraige at 9 weeks (my first miscarriage ever). I did
not have a D&C and everything seemed to pass normally. Since my
miscarriage I have been unable to conceive. We have been trying for
seven months. I have also been experiencing pelvic pain. The pain seems
worse from ovulation to menstration, the second half of my cycle. I have
had two ultrasounds which were normal. I had bloodwork to see if i am
ovulating or have endometriosis. I am ovulating and endo test was
negative. Cycles are normal except periods have been shorter and lighter
but right on time. The last few months the pain has grown increasingly
worse. Its a dull ache that ocasionally pinches. No bladder or bowel
symptoms. Do you know what this might be? What step do you recommend
!next?
Answer
The incidence of congenital abnormalities & miscarriage increases after
35 years & is still higher after 40 years. You should keep that in mind
when you wish to conceive. How was endometriosis diagnosed? was it by
laparoscopy or only ultrasound? Your pain symptoms seem like those of
endometriosis. Are you ovulating every cycle ? This can be determined by
a clear plan test . What is your husband's semen count? Are both your
tubes patent ? Let me know all these, so I can advice you further.
Question
Dear Doc, I was diagnosed with PCO's and the doc put me on Glycomet and
I am havin normal insulin levels and after taking glycomet, I feel very
weak and faint. I couldnt get 500mg Glycomet, therefore I took 800mg two
times a day..
please let me know
zion
Answer
Since you are feeling weak & faint, you can reduce the dose of glycomet
to 500 mgms instead of 800 mgms. You can use dialon or glucophage or
dimet instead of glycomet.
Question
I am 32 yrs old . I am from pakistan. I have married for almost 03 yrs.
I dint get pregnant yet. i have a irregular periods . sometimes I have
spotting before 03 days of actual periods than after 03 or 04 days i get
usually gets normal periods. i have suggested by a good gynecologist to
have prolifen 50 mg and then menogen injection after 02 days of actual
periods but i want 2 ask u whether prolifen is safe 4 me and second
question is that since spotting starts before actual peroids so whether
i should take this tab from a second day of spotting day or actual days
when periods starts. plz help me i am very much depressed. i wiil be
very much greatful 2 u if can help me in this manner.
Answer
Prolifen is safe and would help you ovulate. However, you should have
ultrasound monitoring done to determine your fertile period & to
determine that you are not forming any cysts.
Question
Dear Doctor, I'm on a unwanted pregnancy situation now. I have tried
using cytotec twice, the first use didn't work, then now, didn't work
again. But someone advice me to use duphaston to continue bleeding. I
have researched on the internet that duphaston is goin to prevent
miscarriage. The one who adviced me used that and said it worked. She
even said that a doctor adviced that to her. So im confused if im goin
to take duphaston or no. Im afraid that it will help me to continue my
pregnancy. Could you please give me some advice.
Answer
Duphaston helps the pregnancy to continue, it will not work as an
abortifacient. If you have not yet aborted, it would be better for you
to have a curettage done before it is too late to even do that.
Question
I had the prolactine, I am pregnant now 6 weeks and 5 days, i want to
know when my ovulation was, last period was on 10 March 2006
Answer
What do you mean by " you had the prolactin"? Were you taking prolactin
tablets prior to conceiving or are you taking them now? If your cycles
are every 28 to 30 days, you should have ovulated around 25th March.
However, if you do a scan by 7 weeks, you will know when you conceived
also.
Question
I am 37 years old, I have 2 kids,10 years,14 years, married life15
years, have regular periods, my problem is i have pain and heaviness in
right breast 1 week before my period ,which is gone after my period. my
husband says that little fluid comes in my breast, Is it ok. I don’t
take any kind of medicine, not even vitamin tablets. I am healthy for my
age
Answer
Pain & heaviness before a period is common because of fluid retention
prior to the period. However, if you have fluid coming out, you should
have your prolactin hormone tested. If it is high, you need to take some
tablets for that. Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
Hi, I m 20, I got pregnant and after a month
had a abortion. I had taken cytotec. I felt something pink come out.
However sicne then its been 1 1/2 months I’ve been bleeding
continously. I know I m not pregnant but the test still comes positive.
How do I end my bleeding? Please email me asap?
Thankyou
Answer
If the test is positive, there is still some placental tissue left
within you. Have an ultrasound done . Let me know the result, so I can
advice you further.
Question
Hi, I terminated my baby on April 20005. Now
we are planning for baby. Will abortion effect in conceiving? we are
trying for last 5 months. After abortion I feel so guilty. I don't know
why? Every alternate month I am getting irregular period. This time it
was 38 days cycle. Before my period, this time I was getting light
yellow discharge. Please tell me what should I do. Give me reply as soon
as possible?
Answer
Many women go through guilt feelings after an abortion. Don't worry
about it now and concentrate on conceiving again. Are you ovulating ?
This can be determined by a clear plan test . Also, have your husband's
semen examination done. Let me know the result. Also, have a
hysterosalpingography done. This will confirm that your tubes are
patent. Sometimes, after an abortion there may have been infection in
the tubes , which then blocks the tube. Regarding the yellow discharge,
use polygynax or betadine pessaries. Check with the pharmacist that you
do not have any contra- indications to its use. All the best!
Question
I have been having discharge with fishy smell and sometimes it smells
like something else. This has been going on for almost 4 years. I have
been to two different doctors and I received 1 pack of some kind of
medicine to mix with water and drink. The symptoms weakened but never
disappeared. I went to another doctors about 3 months later and
everything was negative but the discharge was and is still there. I was
told by the first doctor that I had vaginitis. The discharge is heavier
now and I wear a tampon everyday so that the odor and wetness does not
get on my clothes. What should I do? Is there something that i can take
to get rid of this?
Answer
You need to do a vaginal smear and a vaginal culture & sensitiivity test
done. This will determine what type of infection you have and what would
be the most suitable antibiotic for you. Let me know the result, so I
can advice you further.
Question
I am taking my contraceptive pills but I m getting very light periods is
it normal
Answer
Yes, the periods can be scanty while on the pill. If they are very
scanty, you can try changing the pill to a low- dose pill.
Question
Its my third month of taking yasmin
contraceptive pills and I have lost 7 kg
weight what is the reason?
Answer
Some women lose weight with Yasmin as it does not cause water retention
in the body. However, this is the information on weight loss with
Yasmin:
"What about weight loss?
Some of the media articles on this new Pill have tended to concentrate
on the ability of Yasmin to cause weight loss. While this is certainly
true it really does need to be put in perspective. Over a 12 month
period studies indicated a 0.7% weight loss compared with women using
another Pill brand - so in a 70 kg woman we are only talking of about
half a kilogram weight loss. It is probably reassuring for many women
however that weight gain was not seen over this 12 month period in the
women using Yasmin."
I think your weight loss cannot be attributed to Yasmin alone. Please
check your thyroid hormones.
Question
Hi, I am concerned because I had my period about two weeks ago and now I
am had a brownish discharge yesterday and it is really faint today
barely see it, my last two mestrual period's lasted only one day, my
abdomen feels a little crampy but nothing unbarable, I am having a
little lower back pain but I have always had back problems.. Also I have
been diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis a few years back could these
sypmtoms be realted or do you have any advice or comment please get back
to me I am concerned... Thank you ....
Answer
Brownish discharge & cramps could be due to ovulation around mid- cycle.
Do you have an erosion on the cervix? Also, have an ultrasound done to
rule out any ovarian cyst or fibroid causing you the abdominal cramps.
Question
I am 26 have pcos I
have 1 year clomid 1 Ivf and now on my 3 cycle
puregon injections all failed what can I do
pls anser me im depressed email me fast?
Thanks
Answer
Sorry to hear about your problems. Relax! I am sure you will conceive.
I need the following information :
º
Are you ovulating without clomid ?
º
How many follicles did you form while on clomid & puregon?
º
How many embryos were formed & how many were transferred during
the IVF?
º
What is your husband's semen result? Are both your tubes patent ?
Question
Doctor I had a check up and doctor told that I have enlarged left ovary
and PCOD. my right ovary is normal. I am taking thyronorm 25 mg tablet.
will I be able to conceive if my thyroid level gets normal? does that
mean I don’t ovulate?
Answer
Are you ovulating?
This can be determined by a clear plan test. Many women with PCOD
ovulate without treatment, while most women need some treatment. You can
conceive even with an abnormal thyroid hormone level, but it is
necessary that it is normal to prevent problems in the fetus. All the
best !
Question
Hello doctor, I am 28 years old. Now I am pregnant. Dec 10 was my last
date of period. So I am completing 3 months now. From the 5th of
January, I had a sense of period and it did not happened. Then I
undergone the card test for pregnancy, it showed positive results. But
there was a pain then and there, sometimes in the lower stomach,
sometimes in the left right sides, sometimes in the upper side. Pain is
mild and remain for few minutes and vanish. My First ultrasound showed
the fetal heartbeat and the result was normal. In the end of second
month, again I was asked to take the ultrasound, again it showed normal
growth and the fetal heartbeat was normal and I was told that the baby
is in good condition. But still the above mentioned pain persists in the
same manner. In the third month end there was some viginal bleeding
suddenly for two minutes after having a pain for two hours. Immediately
I consulted the doctor, and undergone a ultrasound. It showed the fetal
hear! tbeat and the growth is normal. Ovaries are closed. Even the blood
tests are also normal. After the day of bleeding, there is no bleeding
till date, but sometime (once in a day) blood clot (size 5 mm) is coming
along with the white discharge. Still the above said pain (mild,
migrating here and there about the stomach, persisting for few minutes)
is there. We are very much worried doctor. We are in need of your
advice. And we thank in advance for your advice?
Answer
Which city are you in? Please let me know, so I an advice you further.
Also, do you have any infection of the vagina or cervix? Dear Madam,
Thanks a lot for replying us. We are in India.(Salem city, Tamilnadu
State). There is no infection near or in the
vigina. Madam now this is the 5th month. Now the pain has gone away. No
Blood clot release. No Bleeding. Everything normal. Very small fetal
movements are there. This happens once in three days. Another thing I
have to add is, before I had bleeding in my gums. Still it is
persisting. During sleep the bleeding is little bit more. Other times
only during brushing. How to go about this problem madam. This is the
only problem I have right now. Kindly reply me madam.
Thank you in advance.
Answer
You can use duvadilan( 10 mgm) or yutopar tablets ( available in India)
. Use 1 tablet twice a day till 36 weeks of pregnancy. This will prevent
the uterus from contracting and prevent bleeding. I presume you do not
have any urinary infection , nor do you have any constipation. If you
bleed again, you can increase the dose of the tablet.
Question
I have been married many years to the same man have never had sex with
any other man about 5 years ago he said he had a problem and could not
have sex could not get an erection. I accepted this problem and now he
claims I am having sex with another man. Is there anyway a doctor can
tell if you have not been sexually active for a long period of time. I
am 58 and have had children. Would like to be able to prove to him that
I have not been cheating on him with anyone, have not had sex since the
last time we had sex together about 5 years ago.
Answer
Sorry to hear about your problem. It is indeed unfortunate that your
husband doubts your fidelity. There is no test by which a doctor can
tell when a person has last had intercourse( except ,of course, the
presence of semen if it has been recent ) . What your husband feels is
just frustration and anger at his own condition. You may take the help
of any common friend who knows both of you well to explain the matter to
him.
Question
Can you get pregnant if you never had sex
before please reply thanks
Answer
What do you mean by your statement? Has there been a discharge of semen
outside the vagina on the vulva? Or do you mean - can one get pregnant
the first time one has intercourse?
Question
Dear doctor, I am 25 years old and have very irregular periods on last
period was 2 months ago previous 4 months ago. I have ben trying for a
baby for years know but am unable to get pregnant. My husbands seman
analysis was ok and so were my ultrasound and TSH FSH etc levels. I have
a very salty taste in my throat and under active thyroid which is under
control taking 75MG thyroxin. I feel very weak all the time and have
symptoms such as vomiting, feeling dizzy, exhaustion and after a few
months of not having my period discharge from breasts. But when the
doctor does the tests after months on waiting list in UK i have a period
so all tests ok. But still unable to get pregnant even if I manage to
get a period. Please advise as I am very desperate?
Thank you very much for your help.
Answer
Have you had a prolactin hormone test done? This would explain the
discharge from the breasts. If it is high, let me know, so I can advice
you further. You can determine when you are ovulating by doing a clear
plan test. Have your tubes been checked? Are they both patent ? Your
tiredness maybe due to your thyroid disorder. Also, are you anemic? That
could also cause dizziness & exhaustion.
Question
Hello, I am 16. the first time I had sex was about 5 months ago. I have
had for the past week or two a brownish discharge. is isn’t itchy. it
has a horrible smell and is really embarassing.. a familymember of mine
bought me some nilstat and I was wondering whether that sounds like the
right medication to take? what do u think it is? I really do not want to
see a doctor!
Answer
You can try nilstat, but that would help only if you have a fungal
infection. In that case, the discharge is usually white. You can use
polygynax or betadine pessaries. If that does not help, see a
gynecologist who can do a vaginal smear and determine what type of
infection you have.
Question
Dear Doctor, I had unprotected sex on the 4th day of my menstrual
cycle. How safe is this period? My concern is before my period i had
norcolut for 5 days because i had to travel. Therefore it had delayed
for 7 days. And a month ago, it was not accurate because my period came
twice in a month. At 14-15th day after the 1st period came, my second
period came. And probably is due to pregnan oral I had to speed up my
period because I had to travel too. But my phamacist advise to delay
period rather than making it earlier therefore I switched to norcolut.
Is it likely I will ovulate during my period? It was never normal case
though
Answer
First of all, I think you should not use drugs to delay your cycle so
often. It will lead to a hormonal imbalance and the bleeding you have
may not be an actual period, but a withdrawal bleeding due to stopping
the hormones. You should do a urine test for pregnancy to determine
whether you are pregnant. I suggest you use a contraceptive pill ( to
prevent being afraid of a pregnancy every month ! ). You can then
continue using the pill till you wish to delay your period whenever you
are traveling. Personally, however, in this age of tampons and drugs
available to reduce the menstrual flow and pain, very few women really
should "mess around " with hormones just because they are traveling !
Question
Doctor, I was given clomid from 2nd day of my
period for 5 days. Then i underwent a scan on 12th day and when my
doctor could see matured follicle she gave me a 5000iu pregnyl injection
and asked to have intercourse for the next 2-3 days and then asked me to
take duphaston from 15th day for 2 weeks.I did xactly like that. Now its
been almost 10 dpo. But what i am experiencing is frequent and good
amount of urination from last 3-4 days along with constipation and
heaviness in the lower stomach so much so that i have now started to
skip one meal in order to keep my stomach light. Are these symptoms
normal? can they be due to taking duphaston? I am yet to do a pegnancy
test after 4-5 days. if +ve test then his will be my fist pregnancy.
please advise.
Answer
You can use duphalac syrup for the constipation and eat bananas, spinach
, vegetables and fruits ( except apple).Skipping meals may increase your
constipation. If it is already 18 days since the pregnyl injection, you
can do a urine test. Frequent urination and heaviness in the abdomen can
occur just prior to a period , with or without duphaston or even during
pregnancy- so it is difficult to determine a pregnancy by that ! All the
best !
Question
I was on the pill and got off it in August 2005 and have been trying to
conceive but no luck. Further to that since coming offf the pill I have
never had my period, I really want a baby and am really concerned about
my health. I have seen a specialist and went for a scan and am awaiting
my results. What can I do. Prior to going on the pill I had iregular
periods. Please help?
Answer
You have not mentioned your age and also whether you have PCOD(
polycystic ovarian disease). PCOD is associated with irregular periods
and absent or infrequent ovulation. The periods were regular while on
the pill because of the hormones in them. Have a serum FSH done and let
me know the result, so I can advice you further. Also let me know the
result of the scan.
Question
I'm 28, and I have been in a monnogamus relationship for 7 years. Last
summer, I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis and my symptoms
included a clear, fish-like odor and burning and itching around the
vagina. After wearing the same feminine napkin for 8 hours at a time (I
know better but time was an issue), and perhaps wiping after a bm too
hard, I now have clear liquid discharge and some fissures and
skin-colored bumps in the perineal region not the vaginal or vulva
itself. Please let me know what I can do before going to the Gyno.
Answer
Do you have constipation ? If yes, use duphalac syrup . Where is the "
clear liquid discharge " from? the anus or the vagina? Are the bumps
warts ? I think you should see a gynec. as it is difficult for me to
determine what those " bumps " are without seeing you.
Question
I have always had a regular period...until now. Instead of regular blood
flow I am haivng brown discharge with a snot consistancy and pink blood.
Am I pregnant?
Answer
You can do a clear blue test to determine whether you are pregnant. If
you are not, just observe how your next period is. If it is similar,
have an ultrasound done to rule out an ovarian cyst. If that is normal,
have your thyroid hormones examined. Let me know, so I can advice you
further.
Question
I am Oct 1970 born (35 yrs). I had conceived in OCt.2001 and underwent
an abortion in Dec.2001. For the last 2.5 years, we've been trying to
get a baby; out of these total 2.5 yrs, for the first 1.5 yrs. we never
timed our sex for the fertile days and I was quite stupid and ignorant
to always wash away all the semen after every intercourse as I never
thought that it won't happen! But now for the last one year we have been
trying seriously, even considering the fertile days. Me and my husband
we've made all the necessary tests and every thing looked normal. And
yes, I was diagnosed to be hypothyroidic in 2002 and since then I've
been taking Euthyrox 75 ug perday. The doctor increased the dosage to
100ug for the last few days as she thought that this might help me to
conceive although I was responding quite well to 75 ug (in between she
even made the dosage 50ug/day but then my TSH really soared quite high
so she increased it to 100 ug).
Now, we are both worried if I'll ever conceive and so we went to
fertility clinic where the gynaec made various tests. E. coli was found
and so i did an antibiotic course along with iodine suppositaries for
more tahn 7days. Progesterone was lower than normal. HSG examination
showed that my Fallopian tubes are open. During my March periods I saw
an LH surge on day 14th and we had had sex just before and even after
the surge. I was expecting my periods this month on 14th april(as I
always get it bang on the 28th day) but I saw a single red spotting on
12th morning and felt the movements in my stomach/uterus and the
bleeding started thorougly on 13th evening, continued for about 3 days
but the similar contractions continued longer than the usual days. On
24th (13th day of my cycle) the doctor made an ultrasound to check if I
have ripe follicles and he said that he found nothing ! So he suggested
me to take Duphastone starting from the 15th day of teh present cycle
and then cl!omid 50mg for 5 days starting from the 5th day of my cycle.
Is it OK that I take Duphastone in this cycle and clomid in the next?
Another Imp. thing is that whenever we have intercourse, I feel a big
pulling inside me...a kind of lump that moves with his movement and its
so uncomfortabe that tehn during the act I have to hold my stomach to
prevent movement. I have alraedy told this to my Doc(gynaec) but he
didn't say much. I just wanted to have your valued opinion and any
suggestions or recommnendations. Please HELP!
Thanks
Answer
RELAX! An LH surge is not as reliable as doing serial ultrasound to
determine when you are ovulating. Do an ultrasound on day 11 of the
cycle. The follicle should be around 11 -16mm. at that time. Had you
taken clomid tablets during the cycle when no follicle was found on the
13th day? I presume you are taking folic acid and the euthyrox everyday.
Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
My period has been a normal flow even if i was told i have a 2.5cm
fidroid. It usually last until 7 days but last month it came on the 31st
of march. The second and third day was normal but the fourth and fifth
day,in the morning hours i had no bleeding until about midday. Then on
the sixth day it stopped. Also with and without period i have quite a lot
of abdominal cramps. What can be the cause.
Answer
Usually fibroids give a heavy flow and abdominal cramps. However, the
amount of flow is determined by the location of the fibroid. If you are
having normal flow, it is likely that the fibroid is in the muscle of
the uterus and not near the uterine lining(endometrium ).
Question
Hi I am 7 months pregnant and
I have sores in my vigina, the yellow
discharge and the area around my vigina is itching I
went to a doctor 2 weeks ago he gave me flygl pills to get rid of the
discharge but it still percists do i have an sti if so what can i do
Answer
You can use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days to reduce the
itching. Have a vaginal smear and a culture & sensitivity test done to
determine what infection you have and then appropriate treatment can be
given.
