Hello doctor, my mother has a problem of over bleeding. She is 46.She is having that problem for the past 10 years. Now it is better than the previous years. Now she used to have bleeding for 2.5 days with 3 napkins per day. Doctors had suggested operating and removing the uterus at that time. But she did not take it at that time. Now we did the Uterus scanning and even it shows that Uterus is enlarged and a thick cavity of 10mm inside. One doctor suggested the hormone treatment for 3 months. Is that safe or operation compulsory? What are the consequences after hormone treatment if she undergoes? Please suggest the better way of doing it at the earliest. I m getting this doubt because one doctor suggested to operate and the other one suggested the hormone treatment. please suggest the correct procedure of doing it.

Repeat the ultrasound on day 5 or 6 of the period, preferably a vaginal ultrasound. Let me know the complete report. This will determine whether the uterus lining is thick or not. Also, are there any fibroids ? I can advice you regarding the hormones accordingly. Which hormone has been suggested ? The amount of bleeding you have mentioned is normal and if everything else is fine, she may not require any surgery.

It is possible to get a period even without ovulation. Did you repeat the scan on day 16 of the period. Was there a follicle then ? If not, the dose of the clomid can be repeated in the next cycle. Let me know the result in the next cycle, so I can advice you accordingly. All the best !

You probably have PCO ( polycystic ovarian syndrome) . In this, there is insulin resistance which does not allow the eggs to form well. Glycomet may help for this. Are your eggs forming well?Are you taking clomid also ? Have an ultrasound done on day 12 of the period and let me know the result, so I can advice you further. HSG will help to detect that the tubes are fine. If there were very mild adhesions within the tube, then the HSG may break these and the chances of conception would increase in the few cycles immediately after the HSG.

Since your ovaries are present, you may experience pain during ovulation- but that would be around mid- cycle of the "expected " period . However, have an ultrasound done to ensure that you do not have any ovarian cyst.

Now ..my question is ..For the past 5 month I noticed that once my period approaches like a week before it .. I get a little burning sensation in my viginal area .. Hello, My husband I have been trying to concieve for the last 6 months with No luck. I have irregular periods that can show up in 30 days 40 days. Duphaston does not help in ovulation. It is given after you have ovulated as it may help prevent a miscarriage. What is the dose of clomid taken ? The motility is excellent, though the count is low.What is his serum FSH ? Have any medicines been given to him for increasing the count? I presume your tubes have been checked and both are patent. Let me know, so I can prescribe some medicines a to improve his count and then you can try for IUI after 2 months for better chances of success.

Do let me know the range of fasting insulin in your lab. Your testosterone is high. You can take dexona tablet for that. If you are planning to conceive now, do not take the ginette 35 , as it is a contraceptive pill. Instead you may need clomid tablets to help you ovulate.Once I know your range of plasma insulin, I can advice you further. Stop worrying! You will conceive soon !

Hi, I am a 25 year old. I am not married and nor have I ever had a sexual intercourse. My problem is irregular periods. There is no set pattern and sometimes the periods are not even a day long at other times there is heavy bleeding for 6-7 days.

Relax ! Are your mood changes ( "fiery temper" ) only prior to your periods? If yes, than that is PMS ( Premenstrual syndrome ) , but you should try and control it ! Have an ultrasound done to determine whether you have polycystic ovaries. Also, check your thyroid hormones.You will have to go on a diet and exercise to lose weight ! I presume you mean clear plan and not clear blue as mentioned in your mail. I am a little confused regarding the cyst, provera and clomid. Had the cyst disappeared before you started the clomid ? If not, you must do a scan on day 4 of the cycle to know whether the cyst still exists or not. Also, clomid can give rise to a cyst again, so careful monitoring is required.

Use dalacin vaginal cream for 7 nights. This should clear the bacterial vaginal infection. I don't think any of your surgeries are responsible for the problem you have now. If your problem does not settle with the dalacin , have a vaginal culture and sensitivity test done. This would determine which antibiotics you would require.

Have a vaginal smear done. This will determine whether you also have bacterial or trichomonial infection in addition to the fungal infection. Use diflucan tablet as a single dose on the second day of the period. This helps when you have repeated infections. Usually, fungal infection would not reduce your chances of conception.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Have an ultrasound done on day 4 of the cycle to determine that the cyst is gone. Clomid can cause a cyst. Continue the metformin and folic acid. Let me know the result of the day 4 scan , so I can advice you further. everything else seems O.K. , so you should conceive soon ! What was the reason for your miscarriage. Was the heart beat present and then absent or was it absent from the beginning ?

Do you have irregular periods? If it is already 4 weeks since the positive pregnancy test, you should be able to see a sac within the uterus. If not, one has to consider an ectopic pregnancy ( in the tube). Have a blood test - beta hcg done. Repeat the test after 72 hours and let me know both the results and the result of the scan, so I can advice you further. Your doctor probably meant delayed conception where conception does not occur on day 15 of the cycle , and therefore the sac is seen later. All the best !

Dear Doctor, I am 31 yrs old and have been married for 2 yrs. I was pregnant for 11 weeks ( but the fetus had no heart beat) and i had a miscarriage on Feb 17, 06. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Was the first scan done at 11 weeks . If it was done earlier at 6 weeks was a heart beat present and then absent ? You probably have some vaginal or cervical infection. Use betadine or polygynax vaginal pessaries.Also , use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days for the itching. If the problem persists, see your doctor to determine whether you have any cervical erosion or polyp.

Hello, I have been told that my uteris is slightly enlarged to approximately 45 weeks in size and irregular, little bigger and firmer on the right consistent with uterine leiomyomata. Can you tell me what is meant by the 45 weeks? I at first thought it was referring to comparison of a pregnancy. If that were the case, I would think it would be rather large.. not slightly. I think there is some misunderstanding.You are right , we do mention the size of the uterus sometimes in comparison with pregnancy, so there is no question of 45 weeks ! Normal pregnancy is upto 40 weeks when the uterus is upto the ribs ! Please check with your doctor whether he/ she meant 45 weeks or something else. Let me know the size of the leiomyomas, so I can advice you accordingly.

Clomid usually does not cause heavy periods. Do you have a fibroid ? That can cause heavy periods. Clomid on day 3 is fine. What is the size of the follicles on day 12 of the period ? . I have to take clomid 50mg on day 3-7 then 100mg next month if not pregnant. My question is what cycle day should I take the norethisterone after I take the clomid? My doc says day 19 but i wil not kno if im pregnant by then. Would it harm a baby if I got pregnant?

You have done a great job in losing weight ! I usually do not give norethisterone, but give duphaston which is safer. I presume you will be doing an ultrasound to determine when you are ovulating. I usually give duphaston from day 20 of the cycle for 8 days ( provided you have ovulated ). Have a fasting plasma insulin done. If this is normal, you do not need metformin. If , however, it is high, let me know, so I can suggest an alternative medication for that. All the best!

I came off microgynon contraceptive in september. been on it since I was 18 (now 24). I had normal period oct, nov, dec and January but have missed Feb and march. am never late! I've had countless negative home pregnancy tests and am tired, breast are veiny, and cramping like im going to come on. I just found out that my mum has a divided womb and 1 fallopian tube and only one good ovary. could I be pregnant? do you think I could have polycystic ovary syndrome?

Have an ultrasound done. This will determine the shape of your uterus ( divided or not ) and whether you have PCOS ( polycystic ovarian syndrome ). Do a urine test for pregnancy. If negative, take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a die for 5 days to get a period.
