Question
I hv urine infection and I my trying to concive .is it safe?
Answer
If you are on any medication for the infection, you have to inform
your doctor that you are trying to conceive , so appropriate antibiotics
can be given which are safe.
Question
I am almost 7weeks pregnant, and i started seeing
some blood in my viginal when i go to the toilet sometimes i feel little
pain by my rightside stomach, the blood comes and go for the past 4days
now. is it bad?
Answer
Bleeding in pregnancy could be a sign of a threatened or missed
abortion or an ectopic pregnancy( pregnancy in the tube) Have an
ultrasound done to check that your fetus is fine. All the best !
Question
I am 5 week along and I had 2 days of
spotting on my 4th week and 1 day this week. Can you please advise if
this is normal? My doctor will not see me until my 10th week. She said
it might not be anything, but I am worried.
Answer
I think you should have an ultrasound done to ensure that the
pregnancy is in the uterus and the heart beat is fine . This can be
determined even at 6 weeks. Let me know the result, so I can advice you
further.
Question

pains in relation to the fibroid that I have. What will I take to stop
the pains, I ,m so worried about it. It is giving me sleepless night.
please assist.
Answer
Is the pain only during periods? If yes, then you can take cataflam
tablets twice a day for 3 days. What is the size of the fibroid? .Do you
also have a urinary infection ? This could also give severe abdominal
pain.
Question
Hi,
I am 19 yrs old. I've got pcod. I suffered from irregular periods for
the past 4 years. I went to a gynac last month. I did a ultrasound on
pelvic region. I have hyperprolactinemia and inceased level of
testoterone and decreased level of follicle stimulating and leutinising
hormone. The main problem behind me is I have increased hair groeth like
the male pattern in my abdomen, chest, breast, and my pubic region it is
really irritating for me to look at it
pls sugges me a remedy to get rid of the hair.
Answer
PCO is present in 10-15 % of women and is associated with irregular
periods and a high testosterone level . The high testosterone results in
an increase in hair growth. The best thing for you to do is
electrolysis. Certain hormones do reduce the hair growth , but this is a
temporary effect and the hormones may increase your weight. You have
mentioned that you have a low FSH and LH. Usually, in PCO the LH is more
than double the value of FSH. Were they tested on day 2 or 3 of the
cycle? Let me know the result, so I can advice you accordingly.
Regarding your high prolactin level, you will need medication for it
like dostinex ,dopergin or parlodel. Let me know the result of that,
too, so I an advice you further.
Question
I have been prescribed letroz for
infertility treatment. I have pcod Endometriosis. I have undergone
laproscopy.
Answer
You have not mentioned whether you have irregular periods and are not
ovulating. Also, are your tubes patent , do you have adhesions around
the tubes and what is the extent of your endometriosis? Let me know your
laparoscopy report in detail and whether your ovulation has been
monitored on ultrasound and the findings of that.
Question
I lately have a vaginal ordor and it becomes stronger after sex. I don't
think it's a yeast infection because there's no discharge and no itch.
What can it be?
Answer
The semen itself has a strong odour, so that may explain the odour
after intercourse. Regarding the odour otherwise, have a vaginal smear
done. This will determine whether you have any vaginal infection and the
type of infection . Appropriate treatment can then be given. You can
wash your vulva with a seba- med feminine wash or sofarelle lotion.
Question
I just found out that I was pregent
and I have HPV AND dyplasia can I still have this baby and will I have
any problem during delveiy
Answer
You should not have any problems during the pregnancy or delivery. Very
rarely, babies exposed to HPV during birth may develop warts in the
throat. Despite these risks, a woman with genital warts does not need to
have a cesarean-section delivery unless warts are blocking the birth
canal. However, certain treatments for warts may not be possible during
pregnancy.
Question
I have a very thick white discharge that has an oder , but no rashes or
itching. what could it be?
Answer
A thick white discharge is usually due to a fungal infection. Use
canesten vaginal pessaries for 6 nights and you should be fine. If not,
let me know, so I can advice you further.

Hi, DOC:
We are happily married for last 3 yrs. but not conceived yet. I am 28

bleeding. It stops after 10 days by medicine. This was first time that i
had such a long periods. I have 28 days cycle and the bleeding have stop
after3-4 days. In next month (27th Dec. 2004) the brownish discharge

started. I went to my doc. and she had done pregnancy test that have a
same results. She taken as a pregnancy. She gave me professi 5000 in

done and not found any pregnancy. My doc. advised me for Beta HCG and in
my first report counts are 246.32 and after 2 weeks the result was 32.03
counts. My doc. said its hormonal imbalance. After this my periods are
normal and regular. I have no other problem but i am not able to c!
onceive yet. Please help me.
Answer
You must have been pregnant in Dec. 2004 , but the fetus did not grow.
Please let me know the result of your ultrasound- whether you have PCO
(Polycystic ovaries) or a fibroid. Also, are you ovulating now? This can
be determined by a clear plan test or an ultrasound around day 13 of the
cycle. What is your husband's semen result? Also, which city you are
staying in , so I can advice you regarding further treatment during your
next pregnancy.
Question
My wife is having irregular periods of almost 7 to 10 days after the
previous periods. For past two months she took pills for delaying the
periods for obvious reasons. After her recent period, few days later she
had a reddish discharge for a day-2 to 3 times.Then it stopped.Does it
warrant amedical examination. What could be the possible reasons.Because
of the very irregular periods, she has bee unable to conceive for the
past 8 months. We had consulted a gynec almost 6months back for the
irregular period.Conducted pap smear test.No specific problem
noted.Except she had some vaginal infection-yeast infection.treatment
was taken for both of us.Also does this infection come due to sexual
contact alone or are there different reasons.Kindly advise .We are
confused a bit
Answer
Regarding the irregular periods, does she have PCO (Polycstic ovaries ) or
an ovarian cyst? Also, is she ovulating? This can be determined by a
clear plan test or on ultrasound. If she is not ovulating, she can take
clomid tablets to help her conceive. This, however, should be taken
where ultrasound monitoring is possible. Also, what is your semen
result? Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
Please suggest a homeopathic medicine for firoid

3) I am thin (weigh 41kg, height 154cm) , what can I eat to gain my
health and also to support a pregnancy?
pls do help as i need some guidance.
thanks a lot
Answer
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. The incidence is a little higher in
women with PCOS . Have your hormones- FSH & LH been tested on day 2 or 3
of the period? Let me know the result of that. Are you ovulating with
the dose of clomid given ? This can be determined by ultrasound. If you
are not, the dose of clomid can be increased, provided you are
monitoring the ovulation on ultrasound. Once you have ovulated, you can
use duphaston tablets or cyclogest vaginal suppositories from day 20 of
the cycle to reduce your chances of miscarriage. Eat a well balanced
diet with lots of proteins and fruit and vegetables. Your weight should
not be a problem as far as conceiving or supporting the pregnancy. If
you wish to put on weight , you can use gevral or sustagen protein
powder.Let me know the result of your ultrasound and I can advice you
further.

Answer
Relax! Getting bugged will not solve your problem! Regarding your
brown discharge- is your erosion still present? If yes, you can have
cryosurgery done on the cervix and that should reduce your spotting. Is
criptal "bromocrptine "? Irregular periods, increase in facial hair and
anovulation are common with PCOS . As long as you are ovulating, it is
fine and you will conceive. Let me know the result of your scan - when
your follicle is 20 mm (with 100 mg of fertyl)and I will advice you

Question
Hello Madam,
My Q. is: I'm overdue my period but getting brown discharge. But when I
did home pregnancy test, it came -ve. Please, advice me what to do
Answer
If you have not yet had any further flow, consider the brown discharge
as your period. Sometimes, the periods can be scanty. If the problem
recurs, have an ultrasound done to rule out an ovarian cyst which can
give rise to scanty periods. If that is fine, have your thyroid and
prolactin hormones checked and let me know the results.
Question
Hello.
I am 30 yrs old. I have an 8 yr old daughter. I've been trying to
conceive for nearly 3 yrs - 2 with assistance. 3 yrs ago with pregnancey...
I had placenta previa... had an emergency C-section... lost over 60
percent of my blood. At 29 weeks... the baby did not make it. Since
then, I've had 1 miscarriage, called it a demise. My husbands sperm is
high. I've had 2 laparoscopies (sp?). My tubes aren't blocked,
everything looks good. We've done 3 cycles of IUI insemination. I am
currently waiting for results. During the procedure the dr. said she had
irritated my cervix. I did do folistim and Hcg shot (to release my
eggs). I had one small cyst (they said nothing to worry about). My eggs
were at 18, my question is... why have I been experiencing side aches
and a white creamy discharge? I am suppose to know the results next
Monday. Is this a sign of cysts leakage or pregnancy?
Answer
A creamy discharge is usually due to a fungal vaginal discharge and
can be treated with canesten vaginal pessaries for 6 nights. Regarding
your miscarriage- at how many weeks was that? I usually give Hcg when
the follicle is 20 mm. How many follicles are you producing per cycle?
The chances of conception increase when there are more follicles. This
can be done by increasing the dose of folistin. However, your gynec.
would have to determine this depending on your response as seen on
ultrasound. Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
I'm an 18 year old female and I have small bumps around on the dark circle
around my nipple and several whiter ones directly on the nipple. I've
had these for as long as I can remember and was just wondering if this
was something that is normal for a developing teen
Answer
These changes are normal. However, if you feel a lump or there is
discharge from the nipple, contact your doctor.
Question
I have a PCOS problem and I am taking clomid, metamorfin tablet and
siphene as prescribe by my doctor. I am not getting regular periods
could u pls. tell me the exact dosage and timings of the tablets .I want
to conceive.
Answer
You said you are taking clomid and siphene. Both are the same drug ,
so are you taking both or one of them ? Are you ovulating with that?
This can be determined by ultrasound.Let me know what dose you are
taking and what the size of the follicles is on day 12 and day 15 of the
cycle and I can advice you further.
Question
Hello there,
I have a very slight itching in the vaginal area. It is barely noticable
but obviously I dont want to ignore it. I visited a clinic with my
partner at the beggining of the year and we were bot clear of infection.
Please advise. I have had thrush before but this is not the same, my
hunch would be something to do with perhaps the washing powder of soap
that I use. Thanks,
Answer
You can change the washing powder. In the meantime, use travocort
cream externally - twice a day for 5 days. If your skin is dry, that can
also predispose to itching. Use oilatum or atoderm soap and seba- med
baby oil after a bath. if the problem persists, see your doctor.
Question
Four days before my mentruation I have sex with my husband. However until
now I don't have mentruation? I am five days delayed and I check with
pregnancy test but test is still negative. Please help..
Answer
If you have not had a period, check your urine for pregnancy around 15
days after the last intercourse. You can get pregnant even 4 days before
the period if you have had a delayed ovulation. A pregnancy test is
positive 15 days after conception (or ovulation).
Question
Hi, I'm a 34 yr old woman, and I've had PMS for over a yr now. I have
almost every symptom of PMS. My doctor said that my lining of my uterus
is thick. They could burn the lining and I won't have any more periods.
My question is if I do decide to have the surgery, will the surgery
actually help my mood swings and I will no longer have food cravings as
I do before my period? My biggest complaint with PMS is I'm very tired,
bloated, depressed, no energy, crave for every food in the book, and
don't have any desire to do anything. I'm just wondering would I
actually feel better if I did have the surgery? thank you. Stacy
Answer
How thick is the lining of your uterus? Was the ultrasound done just
after a period? If not, repeat it and let me know the result. Burning
the lining will stop you from having your periods, but the mood swings
will continue. The mood swings are due to the hormonal changes
associated with ovulation . Unfortunately, there is no treatment for
PMS. You have to learn to cope with it. You can try taking VItamins or
buspar tablets, which have helped in some cases. Meditation and yoga
have also been known to help sometimes if you are stressed. For your
bloatedness, you can take disflatyl tablets. Relax !
Question
Hi, we r planning for the baby and my last periods dates were 13th august
and now today is 19th september, almost 6 days up frm due date.I have
checked thrugh pregnancy check strips thrice bt result is negative,i m
feeling watery secretion and sometime nausea too?wht can i do? plz
suggest me i m so confused?i have also had a baby girl of 1 yr,will wait
for ur reply
Answer
If you still have not got a period, repeat the pregnant test and let
me know , so I can advice you further. If you have got a period, do a
clear plan test to determine whether you are ovulating or not and what
will be the most fertile period.
Question
I RECENTLY STOPPED USING BIRTH CONTROL AND I GOT MY PERIOD FOR ABOUT 4
DAYS AFTER THIS I HAD UNPROTECTED SEX CAN I BE PREGNANT?
Answer
You have not mentioned on what day of the cycle you had the
unprotected intercourse. Was it 4 days from the first day of the period
or did you get a period for 4 days? ( This is not clear from your
question ) Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
I have 2 problems that's effecting my marriage
sexually. After 2 kids, my virgina became loose and dosen't provide
gratification for my husband. Also, it releases odor internally when he
gives me oral pleasure - thus, he doesn't enjoy it much. I like to know
what I can do to correct these problems so we can enjoy each other more.
I do kegel excercise a lot and keep my private area clean, but nothing
seems to help. I feel helpless. What can I do and who can I see to helop
me and us with this? My OBGYN gave me metro gel, but it's not helping.
Answer
Have a vaginal smear done. This will determine what type of
infection you have and you can get appropriate treatment. Regarding your
vaginal muscles, if you have been doing Kegel's excercises, and they are
still loose, you may need surgery. However, check with your gynec .
whether surgery is required. Slight laxity is common and both you and
your husband should accept it. If it is severe, surgery may help.
However, you should remember that sometimes, after surgery, the muscles
get too tight and there is extreme narrowing of the vagina making
intercourse difficult and extremely painful.
Question

I am 4 months pregnant, I went to doctor for sonar test for 3
consecutive months due to bleeding - now I m alright. But when I came
back for the next visit - she ask for one more sonar test, is it
advisable and won't affect to the baby, due to radition.
Thanking you in advance.
Answer
Sonar is safe for the baby and the only way to determine that your
baby is fine in the early months. All the best for your pregnancy.
Question
Hello doctor .I am 21 years old . my husband
26.we have been trying to get baby for 1 year and 2 month and still.. I
can become pregmant.. we try to do sex every day to make our chances
more to get pregmant..but still .. my cycles is almost regular ,3 0r 4
days sometime differes. what is the reason that I cant concieve.maybe
should go to the doctor to do test of fertile..or not..what kind of
test I should take to know if I have a problem or my
husband.my menses continues for 6 days. everyting is like normal. .once
it stopped like 9 days my period delayed so I go to hospital to do
pregmancy test but it was negative, after one day my period return.and
until now is like everything return to its normal way.and we still hope
to concieve....
Answer
First of all - relax! Check whether you are ovulating or not by
doing the clear plan test. This will determine your most fertile period
and having intercourse during that time will help( not everyday of the
month ). Also , have your husband's semen examination done and let me
know the result of that and the clear plan , so I can advice you
further.
Question
Hi am 23, and I've been on the contraceptive
pill since I was 17 .Will it cause me any fertility problems in the
future??
Answer
Which pill are you using? Do you smoke? Is your blood pressure and
blood sugar normal? Do let me know, so I can advice you further.
Usually, I advice my patients to stop the pill for one month after using
it for 11 months.
Question
Hello, I am 30 and my husband is 28. I had
cryosurgery at 16 for mild dysplasia and have had 2 abnormal paps since
that were normal when retested. I also have been on birht control pills
since 16 and stopped them in may'05. we are currently trying to get
pregnant without success. My periods are regular and I have used
ovulation perdictor kits that show that I ovulate. My questions are, 1.
would the past cryosurgery damage my cervix and keep me from getting
pregnant? or 2. Is my body still trying to regulate after birth control
pills?
Answer
What is your husband's semen examination result? Have you
done a PCT ( post-coital test ) This will determine whether the sperms
stay alive in the cervix or not. Usually, the cryosurgery would not
prevent a pregnancy. Since you are ovulating, there is no effect of the
pills you had taken. Let me know the results, so I can advice you
further. All the best !
Question
I am 10 weeks pregnant. due to heavy omitting and heart burn
doctor gave me moxal suspension to take after meals(3 times or more a
day). Is this medicine is harmful or okay?
Answer
Moxal is safe during pregnancy. You should eat dry food like biscuits,
toast and crackers in between meals to reduce your nausea and vomiting.
Question
Hi doctor,I am 31 and I would like to know why after my period when I
have sex , my vagina gets exstremely dry during intercorse, making it
very uncomfortable. What could be wrong and what should I do?
Answer
Is the dryness throughout the cycle? Usually, one is more" moist"
during the middle of the cycle . Are you on the pill or do you have any
vaginal infection ? Let me know , so I can advice you further.
Question
HI I'M 22. I HAVE 5 KIDS AND HAD ONE MISCARRIAGE. I'M 6 WEEKS PREG. I
STARTED BLEEDING AND THEN IT STOP, STARTED THEN STOP SO MY DOCTOR DID
HCG BLOOD TEST IT WAS 250 THEN DID ANOTHER ONE 4 DAYS LATER AND IT WAS
ONLY 40 DOES THIS MEAN I'M HAVING A MISCARRIAGE?
Answer
Sorry to hear about your falling hcg. Yes, if it has fallen , it
indicates that the fetus is not growing well. Let me know the results of
your previous miscarriages- was the heart beat absent from the
beginning? How many weeks were you pregnant when you had the
miscarriages? Are your blood sugar, thyroid hormones and toxoplasmosis I
gM tests normal? Let me know, so I an advice you what may help in the
next pregnancy.
Question
I am 46 years old. In the past whenever I had yeast infection, I was
given an antibiotic Dufilcan (or something along that spelling).
However, this cannot be purchased over the counter and even the doctors
are no longer prescribing it. Could you explain why this is so?
During the past 8 months or so, I had recurring yeast infection. The
inserts the doctors prescribed are not every effective and I had been
getting recurring yeast infection for the past 2 months or so. They
would go away and then come back again - especially when I take sour
stuff like lemons or lime, etc.
Is yeast connected to diet and would frequently recurring yeast
infection lead to something more serious/life threatening condition?
Also, what can I do to prevent yeast.
Instead of using the inserts, I am using a special wash Pot Permanganate
Sol 0.1% and Zaricort cream (prescribed by my last doctor) to clean
myself at bathtime each time I had yeast. In addition, I also take honey
and evening primrose hoping to cure myself. By the way are they
effective to get rid yeast infection?
Answer
Diflucan is still given by many doctors. However, it is not given
over the counter as one has to ensure that the woman does not take it in
case she has a chance of being pregnant. So, the doctor prescribing it
would counsel the patient and advise it accordingly. Check whether
sporanox capsules are available. These would work like the diflucan.
This , also, needs a prescription. Did your partner also use the
diflucan? In case of recurrent infection, the partner should also be
treated , to prevent transmission of infection to each other. Are you
swimming? This can also increase your re- infection. Frequent use of
antibiotics can also cause the infection. I am not sure how helpful
honey and primrose oil is. Use betadine vaginal douche and the oral
tablets, and you should be fine. If not, let me know.
Question
I'am having lower right back pain. It comes and
goes. But it is a sharp burning pain and goes into my hip and buttocks.
I was told that my pelvic is tilted forward causing this pain. Due to
being pregnant with twins then triplets. I've been to a Chiropractor 10
times and no releif. What can I do to get rid of the pain or who should
I see for help?
Answer
Take calcium tablets for 2-3 months. In the meantime see an
orthopedician and check that you do not have any other problem giving
this pain. In the meantime, you can also use cataflam tablets- one
tablet twice a day for 5 days to relieve the pain.
Question
I have been having this discharge for sometimes
now it is yellow in colour n has some smells like egg or so, I want to
know if am ok because am scared.
Answer
Use betadine vaginal pessaries. ( Check with the pharmacist that you
are not allergic to its contents ) . If you have not improved, have a
vaginal smear done . This will determine what type of infection you have
and what is the appropriate treatment.
