Question, Hi, I am 21 years old. I stopped using the pill and now i have irregularly blood flow and discharge. Also I have the urge to pee when I really dont have to. I cant see a doctor b-c I am in honduras and I dont trust the doctors here. I know it must be some kind of infection. There are many pharmacies here where you dont need a prescription. If you could possibly tell me about something general. My fiancee and I dont use protection, we have both been tested and also he cant have babies. But he now has a itchy, burning feeling on the outside skin of his penis. and it looks like it bleeds a bit in certain spots. only near the head on the top. If you could e mail some insight that would be great. thanks.
Answer You probably have urinary tract infection and vaginal infection. Can you do a urine test for culture and sensitivity and send me the report? I can then advice you which antibiotic to use. Also, drink at least 6 glasses of water daily to minimise the infection. Do you have a white curdy discharge ? If yes, it must be fungal infection. You can use canesten vaginal pessaries for 6 days . Your husband can use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days to reduce the itching and the infection.

Question, I have varicoceles and i am taking siphene M and provironum tablets... will that cure my problem? i am male 28yrs married since 2years. please advice.
Answer The medication you have been given is for a low semen count . It will not reduce the varicoceles. Do let me know the semen count so I can advice you accordingly. I presume you want to plan a pregnancy. Also, do let me know whether your wife is ovulating and whether her tubes are normal.

Question, i am 26 year female i have small size breast .now i take good diet.i feel very uncomfortable.i have shown it to some doctors but they say after marriage this problem will get correct.i don,t want to take any medicine without your consult.please help me.you can ask me any question regarding this problem
Answer Some women have small breasts, so don't worry. This may or may not be corrected after marriage. I think you should not get very conscious about it .There are certain creams available, but they only help to a small extent. The final option is surgery, but that, too has certain complications sometimes. Just stop worrying about it !

Question, Respected doctor
I am 26 year old unmarried female I need your help.i will be your highly obliged.please guide
My problem is ;
1)sometimes white transparent discharge-excessive--.
2)menstrual cycle-irregular dates-some times excessive bleeding sometimes very less sometimes normal.
3)hair fall_reports shows no heredity-sudden change
4)breast size very small.
5)not normal physique.

Reports shows
Both the ovaries are enlarged and contain multiple tiny peripheral cysts.the cyst range in diameter from 2-10mm. The right ovary measures from 3.3*2.6cms and left ovary measures from
2.6*1.5cms in size
No free fluid is seen in pelvis.
Uterus is of nulliparous size.
It has normal shape and ecopallen
Endometrial cavity is clear.
No fibroid seen.
Auxillary and pubic hair normal..
TESTS
T3 1..82
T4 8.60
TSH 2.37
LH = 15.52
FSH=7.3
HEIGHT=159CM
WEIGHT=47
BMI=17.79KG/m2
What should I do what is the problem .how can good physique developed.what is the cause behind this. My past history---belongs from rich class.,disturbance between my parents make me much sensitive.my parents are looking match for me but I am feeling uncomfortable because of my physique.

Answer Regarding your problems:
1-White transparent discharge around mid-cycle is common due to the hormonal changes. If you have a white curdy discharge, it maybe fungal infection. You can then use sporanox capsules- 2 in the morning and two in the night for one day.
2- You have polycystic ovaries, which is common in 20% of females. This would explain your irregular periods. You can take duphaston tablets to regularise your periods, but don't really need to as long as you are getting a period every 30-45 days without medication.Do you get heavy periods only when you delay your periods or also otherwise?
3-I will need to know the normal range of the thyroid tests in your lab. This range changes , so I can not opine on them till I know the range. The thyroid tests , if abnormal, may also explain the hair fall. Also, do a serum testosterone and let me know the result .. Use a multivitamin tablet everyday for 3 months. If pantogar tablets are available, use one tablet three times a day for 45 days. This will help for sometime and if the problem recurs, you can use them again.
4- Unfortunately, nothing much can be done to increase the breast size. Certain creams and surgery may help only to a small extent. Don't worry about this.
5- What do you mean by not normal physique. Do let me know.

Question, I am 39 years old. I have fibromuscular dysplasia, antiphospolipid syndrome and the test came back slightly positive for lupus after the last pregnany the doctor said not to worry. I currently take 1 asprin a day. I have 4 children born 1998,1999,2000 and 2002. I had toxemia and HTN with all pregnancies. After delivery my blood pressure goes down to 130/ over 60. My question is that my blood pressure goes up 4-5 days before my period, which is very regular, to 170/100 and I feel horrible until my period is over. Is my blood pressure related to hormones? What should I do? I can't take b/p meds because my blood pressure is low the other times of the month. I haven't told my doctor of my b/p problems yet because I don't know if it is something that should be treated. I don't want to have a stroke. I am 130lb and 5'7" never have smoked or taken birth control pills in my life. Please help.
Answer The blood pressure maybe increasing pre-period due to water retention due to the hormonal changes . You also have had pregnancy-induced hypertension, so you have to be very careful . Keep a B.P. chart- check it every week, and twice a week from the 25th day of your cycle. and let me know.

Question, I am 42 yrs. old, and last year at my yearly physical (pap), my gyn said I had an enlarged uteris and sent out for a ultrasound on my uteris, which showed I have a bunch of cysts all over it. (Note My two sisters had breast cancer and mastectomies--I had a profalactic doubel mastectomy as well).. Should I further worry about my uteris?? I have recently been having abdominal pains here and there a week after my period.
Answer Do you mean fibroids of the uterus? Cysts are usually in the ovaries. Do let me know your report in details, so I can advice you accordingly. You probably have fibroids in the uterus. If the lining of the uterus(endometrium ) is normal and your fibroids are not increasing, you don't need to worry.

Question, I need help. For the last few months, my mensturation blood has been dark, I mean very dark-reddish for the first one day after my periods start and the last 2 days. Is this normal. I was tested for STD's 7months ago and they were all negative. I also have xtremely painful periods. What can I do? Do I need to go back and see a doctor?
Answer The amount and colour of the blood depends on various factors, including medication. Have an ultrasound done and if that is normal, you don't need to worry . If the problem persists, have blood tests for thyroid function done .The painful periods could be due to fibroids or endometriosis.

Question, i've been experiencing creamy, yellowish discharge (looks greenish on tissue) and in large amounts. Sometimes i also detect an odour. some months i also get light brown/reddish discharge one week after my period ends. Is this some form of infection? And is it useful to use vaginal douche which claims to treat bacterial infection? Thank you!
Answer You should see a gynec. who can do a vaginal smear to determine the type of infection you have and give you the appropriate treatment. Since the infection could be bacterial or fungal, it is advisable to determine which one and then take the appropriate treatment.

Question, Hello, I am a 27 year old female. I have had regular periods since I was 14, but for the past four months they have been irregular. Missed period in Sept. Had one in Oct and missed again in Nov. I am on the pill and took a pregnancy test to make sure I am not pregnant. What could be causing these this on again off again cycle?
Answer You said you have irregular periods and are on the pill. Did you have irregular periods while on the pill? When have you started the pill? . Do let me know , so I can advice you accordingly. Also, have you done an ultrasound to rule out an ovarian cyst ? Sometimes, stress, change in climate, or medication can all cause irregular periods besides abnormalities in certain hormones like prolactin or thyroid.

Question, Hello Doctor,
I am and 18 year old college student and I have been haveing some vagina pain for many years, probubly about 5 years now. I am still a virgin and I am scard that I have contracted some kind of STD and I am wondering if there is any possible way that this could have happened if I have not have had sex. My mother have Herpies I which is on her mouth and no one in my family has herpies as far as I know. I have really not been invovled in kind of sexual relationships so I there is no way that I could have contracted it from someone else. Is there any way that I have contracted it from a washroom or something like that. There is a very strong smell that comes from my vigina as well as some discharge. Please help me I am so scard and I am scard to go to a doctor as well..Thank-you for your time.

Answer You said you have vaginal pain. Do you also have vaginal discharge or any urinary tract infection? Do you have ulcerated areas or "boils" on the vulva ? Do let me know , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, I am 18 yrs old;female. I started to get really sharp pains in my abdominal area when I was about 14. I didn't think anything og it , but as the years went on I also had a foul-smelling discharge that i was scared to tell my mother about. I stayed a virgin up until earlier this year in Feburary , so I don't think that It was an std. After about a year of these sharp pains my periods were thrown off ( I started my period when I was 9 and they got regular after i turned 12) I skipped a whole month In January when I was about to turn 15. Then they came every 35-40 days sometimes they were really heavy and short, lasting for two maybe 3 days. Then in the summer that I was to turn 16 they started to come very light and last one and a half maybe two days still with extremely sharp pain. Now that I am a little more educated I would like to know if it is possible for me to have had PID and if so can having it for so long decrease oor even stop my period?
Answer The pain and the discharge could be due to PID. Usually, PID does not cause irregular periods. Have you done an ultrasound? This would reveal a fibroid or an ovarian cyst , which could also cause abdominal pain. You could go to a gynec. who can check whether you have any vaginal or cervical infection.

Question, Hello. I am 19 years old and a month ago I had a miscarriage. The doctors had to do a D&C. On November 27th, 2003 I got my period, I still have it, it's been going on for almost two weeks and it's very heavy, I have blood clots and I'm in very bad pain. I saw a doctor today but he gave me nothing to work with. What could possibly be going wrong? Is it possible that I need another D&C?
Answer Do a urine test for pregnancy - like clear blue. If this is still positive, do a blood test -- beta - hcg.Let me know the result. Also, have an ultrasound done to rule out any retained products. If all the tests are normal, don't worry. You can then take cyclokapron tablets- one tablet three times a day for 3 days to reduce the bleeding. Take ponstan or cataflam tablets for the pain- one tablet twice a day for 3 days. If there are retained products or the blood test shows some hormonal activity, another D&C maybe required. If it is, the material should be sent for histo-pathological examination.

Question, Hi doc;
Just so happy to have gotten this site as i feel like a very frustrated woman. I have had several abortions (7) and never experienced any complications. The last one was 2000 February. Since then, i have not gotten pregnant though i have never been careful with sex. Sometimes in April 2001 my mestruation cycle change from regular 28 days to 21 and it came very jumpy even sometimes going less than 21 days. Though at this time, i was very much under stress from a relationship breakup. I lost about 10 kgs weight. I was not concerned and i did not see any gyn. Now am 5 months married and i desperately want a baby. I now have a regular cyle of 26 days though i can never tell when am ovulating. I see the cloudy discharge around when am supposed to ovulate, but i never notice the egg-white discharge. I feel pain on one side of the abdomen, have sex with my husband but i still do not conceive. I have seen a gyn and had an HSG test which came out ok. The tubes and the uterus were outlined. With my cycle, he tells me i must be ovulating. He checked my cervix and he tells me everything is ok. I feel like i have reached the end of the road and i really don't know what to do to conceive. I don't want to go clomid as am not sure of side effects. I am 30 yrs and my husband is 34. Please doc help as we want a baby soon. Tell me what more tests to go for.

Answer First of all, relax! Check whether you are ovulating or not by the "clear plan" test and this will help you determine the most fertile period. The " cloudy " or egg-white" discharge will not be very specific. If the clear plan does not show ovulation, see a gynec who can monitor you on ultrasound to determine when you are ovulating. If repeated scans do not show ovulation, you may require clomid . If clomid is taken in a low dose and under ultrasound monitoring, there are hardly any complications. If you don't conceive in 3 months, let me know and I can then advice you accordingly. All the best !

Question, hi Doc, i have this really thick and white discharge coming out from my viginAnswer It sticks there unless i get it off by washing it. However that's only for those that are sticked onto the outer areas where i can touch. I can see that there are more inside of my viginAnswer I have had vigina infection months ago however i have taking oral medicine given by my doc to stop it. Is this normal? or am i suffering from something? anyway it doesn't have an odour and its just a little itchy. is it perhaps because i didn't wash it very clean? pls help... thanks!
Answer You probably have fungal vaginal infection , which is very common. You can use canesten vaginal pessaries for 6 nights and see if the infection is treated. If not, see a gynec who can determine the type of infection you have and treat you accordingly. If you are unmarried or do not wish to use the vaginal pessaries, you may need oral tablets again. Let me know which ones you were given earlier.

Question, I have black-greenish stuff coming out of my left nipple, I stopped nursing 8 years ago, what is it? Is it normal? Also, I've had a tubal ligation,my Dr. told me it was only 70% effective, can I get pregnant without reverse surgery?
Answer You can heck your prolactin hormone as there might be some breast secretion if the prolactin hormone is high. You must see a surgeon or a gynec. for your breast secretion. Which method of sterilization was done? Let me know, so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, I recently had a pap smear. It came back abnormal. The diagnosis was that is stated that I have atypical squamous cells of undertermined significance. Also in parenthesis it stated cannot exclude low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion. Can you tell me what my next step is.
Answer Do you have any cervical infection? If yes, take the appropriate treatment. You can repeat the Pap smear after 6 months.

Question, Hi, I have a question for you. I am 18 years old and I have been having a strange vaginal discharge for about 1/2 year. It's white, like cloudy mucas when wet, and when it's dry it's almost pasty. I average about 1 tbsp of this gunk per day. My roommate has the same condition, we've lived together for about 2 years. Any idea? Thanks!
Answer This could be fungal vaginal infection. Have you and your room-mate been swimming or have been on antibiotics? Both these would increase the infection. See a gynec who can determine that it is only fungal infection and give you the appropriate treatment.

Question, My period is late. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Could there be something else causing my period to be late
Answer A pregnancy test is positive around 15 days after conception. So , if you have conceived late (because of delayed ovulation ) , the test will be positive later. There are various other factors like stress, hormonal imbalance etc. that can cause the delayed periods. If this problem recurs, then further investigations would be required.

Question, My husband and I have been married for four years and have a two year old son. We have been trying to conceive a 2nd baby for a year now. I have extremely irregualr mentstral cycles- usually getting my period every 50 to 60 days. I used depo for soem time after my first born but have been off of it since January 2002. I am not sure if or when Ii am ovulating. I have having intercourse with my husband about 3 times a week.
Answer Since you have irregular periods , you may have a problem with ovulation. Do an ultrasound on day 15 to determine the size of the follicles- which will tell you when you are likely to ovulate and thus determine the most fertile period.

Question, It has recently been suggetsed by my Fertility Specilaist that I should be taking a drug called HumirAnswer I can only find infomration about it with reference to R. Arthritis whihc doesn't help me! Would you know of anyone else or where I can find out about it ref: infertility please? Cheers Doc.
Answer I have not used Humira for infertility. Do let me know whether you failed to ovulate with drugs like clomid or gonal-f etc . Are you trying IVF? . Let me know your past infertility treatment and results, and I can advice you accordingly whether humira will be helpful or not in your case. Abbott produces the drug. You could contact them (by e-mail also) and they should be able to clear your doubts.

Question, I really don't know how to ask this but I will be blunt. I have found a patch of little white bumps near my vaginAnswer I found them when trying to examine myself. I don't really know who to ask about it, and I am very terrified at what it might be. Is it some form of HIV, and is it deadly? Please, I need your help. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my question.
Answer You need to be seen to determine what your "bumps " really are. See a gynec. who can determine what you have and give you appropriate treatment.

Question, Thursday i went to the gyno for a colposcopy, and i was on my period. It started on Wednesday. Today Friday, my period is done. Could this be caused from the procedure?
Answer Usually a colposcopy would not stop a period. Maybe, some medication had been given to you which has reduced your blood flow.

Question, Dear doc, I am 39 years old and my husband is 35 we don't have children but would like to have at least one. He has a low sperm count but was on medication it raised the count but is still a low. What should we do?
Answer Do let me know his semen count( after treatment). Also, have your tubes been checked -by hysterosalpingography or laparoscopy? Are you ovulating? Since you are 39 years old, and the chances of abnormalities in the fetus increase with advancing age, I suggest you plan a pregnancy as soon as possible. Do let me know , so I can advice you accordingly. If you are in Oman or U.Answer E. , you can come and see me.

Question, I had a c-section on august 9, 2003, My menstural cycle has been very irregular. I'm having my cycle every two weeks, and at the beginning they are very heaving not having any bad cramps, just bad headaches and I've been nausted. Should I get backon the pill or what??? I havent called my ob/gyn yet, just watitin to see if it will get regular , I guess. thanks
Answer If you are breast -feeding, the cycles maybe irregular. Also, have an ultrasound done to rule out a fibroid or an ovarian cyst which maybe giving you the problem. You can get back on the pill as it will help in contraception as well as regularising your periods.

Question, I was treated for moderate cervical dysplasia 1 1/2 year ago. I had a coninzation of the cervix and a D & C i went for my follow ups and everything was great i had a normal pap. About 1 mnth ago i starting getting severe anal and vaginal itching. I found a couple of bumps which are bleeding when i go to the bathroom. I haven't been with anyone since my surgery so i can't imagine what it is. I also feel as if i am getting a strong odor now only hours after showering. Could this be a bacterial infection ? Or does it sound like warts ?
Answer Are the bumps in the vulval or anal area? They could be hemorrhoids (piles ) if in the anal area or warts also. You must see a gynec . who can treat you accordingly and also check for the type of vaginal infection you may have .

Question, I'm 35 weeks pregnant and my doctor said I have a tilted cervix. What does this mean and will it hurt my baby or effect my delivery?
Answer Could you tell me the medical term used by your doctor? "Tilted cervix" at 35 weeks does not mean anything to me .Did you have a retroverted uterus before ? ("tilted uterus "). Please let me know so I can advice you acordingly.

Question, I have been sexually active since I have been 16 years old. I am now 21... And for a year now I have had a yeast infection. I go to my doctor and gynecologist, but they just say that some women have more yeast in them than others and I have been prescribed everything for yeast infections, including the once time pill, difflucan... Nothing will get rid of my yeast infection......... I heard that yeast lives off of sugar so I should stop drinking cool-aid and pop and milk products and bread and beer, and basically anything with sugar in it........... Because, I feel that I have taken oral pills for my infection that all of my good bacteria in me is gone, and the yeast just keeps growing...... I hate this... Is it true I should cut out sugar for a month or two??? And one more question... Since I have had this ongoing yeast infection (for at least 18 months now, and it never, ever goes away) when I have intercourse I get really dry really quick, and it'll start to hurt... last night I only had sex for about 15 minutes and when i was done I went pee( I always go pee after sex)and looked at my vaginAnswer.. not the lips or the vulva region, but the inside of my vagina wall was protruding, it was extremelly swelled up and red, I'm guessing cause it was dry for about the last 5 minutes of sex, so it just got irritated and swelled up...... but it's been 8 hours later and it's still swelled up......... Please answer my 2 questions..... How to cure a yeast infection that the doctors can not help me cure because I am immune to all of the medication, and it usually makes the yeast worse, and why the hell is my vagina so swelled up??? I have already been checked for STD's twice, and I have had the same partner for the past year....... PLease help me with these two problems ASAP... Thank you very much
Answer Has your partner been given any oral anti-fungal medication ? Both of you should take oral anti-fungal tablets like sporanox - 2 tablets in the morning and 2 in the night for one day ,- on the same day . This will prevent recurrence of the yeast infection. Also, do you have a cervical erosion? That could also cause repeated infection and can be treated by cryosurgery of the cervix. You should use a lubricant like KY jelly during intercourse (if you are dry ). This would reduce the vaginal soreness.

Question, I have just had a early miscarriage. When I say early I mean 4-5 weeks. I just wanted to know if everything went ok like my gyno said it did and I have cleaned out naturally, even thought I am not supposed to start a regular pirod for 4-6 weeks, when is it safe for us to concieve again at the earliest time?
Answer An ultrasound (vaginal) would rule out any retained products of conception. Also, you can do a urine test for pregnancy around 2 weeks after the miscarriage and it should be negative. If it is, and the scan does not show anything, you need not worry. Usually , we advice a gap of 2-3 months before you plan a conception again. You can check for thyroid hormones and toxoplasmosis infection - to ensure that these are normal before conceiving again- as these may have been the cause of the miscarriage.

Question, What is the difference between a cyst on the outside of the vigina and a wart on the outside of the vigina? I'm not sure which one I have. How can you treat both of them? Thank you so much.
Answer A cyst is usually a Bartholin cyst and if infected forms an abscess. This can be treated by antibiotics and , if it recurs, should be excised by surgery under anaesthesiAnswer Warts would be irregular brown areas and can be treated by cryosurgery as an out-patient procedure and does not need anaesthesiAnswer

Question, i just want to ask can you get pregnant a week after you get your menstration. meaning the week right after your menstration. if you can answer me that'll be great. and thank you.
Answer If you have early cycles , yes. One usually ovulates 15 days prior to the next period. So , if you have have a 21 day cycle , you may ovulate on day 6 of the cycle, which is just after your period. If , however, you have a 30 day cycle, then you would ovulate around day 15 of the cycle.

Question, I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy in 4 days, my ovaries will remain, will I still be able to fertilize my eggs in the future with my spouse?
Answer Yes, if you are considering IVF with a surrogate mother. Your doctor would have to remove your eggs , fertilise them with your husband's sperms and then implant the fetus in another woman's uterus. All this involves a lot of planning and has to be looked into in great detail .

Question, ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO I'VE FOUND 3OR4 BUMPS ON MY LINEING(VAGINA)AND IT DOESN'T ITCH BUT I DO HAVE A WHITE DISCHARGE ALSO COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IT IS. iTS NOT A WART FROM THE ONE I'VE SEEN ITS NOT WHITE BUT THEY ARE THE PINK LIKE ITS SUPPOSE TO BE COULD YOU PLEASE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS IS????
Answer It is difficult to say what it is without seeing them. It could be just the vaginal wall protruding (pink ) . You should see a gynec. who can determine what it is and also see the discharge you have & give you adequate treatment.

Question, I am 24 years old and was on orthro-cyclen for 8 years. I went off of it in July-at first my periods were regular like as if I was on the pill-but then it came a week late and then regular again-now it has been 3 weeks and it is still not here almost a month late. I have taken a pregancy test-2 of them and both came out negative-I have breast tenderness-and have been extremely moody-also I have been extremely hungary and haved gained weight in the last month. I did have sex this last month and a week afterwards-I had light blood spots-for a day-I do not have cramping or anything that seems abnormal besides my sudden hunger increase where I want to eat all the time. I was curious what would cause my period to be so late-and if I am just stressing out because it is not here for a reason or if I have anything to worry about?
Answer You may not have ovulated or ovulated late during the last cycle and therfore the delay in your period. If your pregnancy test is negative 15 days after the last intercourse, you can take duphaston tablets - one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. Were the light spots just after intercourse or around the time of the expected period? Do let me know , together with your urine test report , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, I'm 22 and for the past couple oif years I been having vaginal dicharge with ordor, I feel like I have tried everything I could think of washing more then once a day, using soaps, powder, you name it I may have used it, and I losing fluid when I laugh, snezee, and I really mess my panites up bad what can I do to stop this ORDOR?
Answer Do you have an erosion on the cervix? Have you done a vaginal smear to determine the type of infection? Do let me know , so I can advice you accordingly. Also, you have " stress incontinence" - passing urine when you sneeze etc. You can do some excercises which may help to reduce that. Your gynec. can advice you . Also, make sure your bladder does not get very full - so pass urine frequently and make sure you do not have any urinary infection.

Question, this is my first time taking birth conrtol shots(DEPO) and ive been on my period going two weeks now and i dont bleed red blood anymore ervey since the shot but now the blood is brown. also ive been having mood swings, been depressed and been craving nothing but junk food. what i want to know are these the side effects or could i be pregnant, i just need a answer because i dont know whats wrong with me.
Answer All these symptoms are quite common with the shots and usually you are explained about these before taking the shot. These are the side -effects, but since the shot is not 100% effective, you can rule out a pregnancy by doing a test like clear-blue at home every 15 days.

Question, Dear Doctor I would like to ask you a question please,I have been to two different labs for test to see if my tubes are clear and also a test to check the lining, and if there is no fibroids in my uterus, and on both occasion, the technicians found it hard to get to my cervix they said it was push far back to the left.could this be one of the reason why I am not conceiving seeing that all test came back o.k?
Answer Did you do a hysterosalpingogram to check the tubes? Are they normal? Usually , the sperms would go into the uterus wherever the cervix is located. Make sure you lie down for around 2 hours after intercourse to allow most of the sperms to go into the uterus. Also, sometimes the position of intercourse might help. You can check with your gynec .

Question, Is it advisable to have a transrectal ultrasound instead of a transvaginal ultrasound as part of her pelvic exam if a person is still a virgin?
Answer An abdominal ultrasound (with a full bladder )can also be performed in a virgin and that would be more comfortable than a transrectal one. However, a transrectal one can be performed in experts using that technique.

Question, I am 35 and have had 4 children. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 and a half years ago. Since then I have had several polyps that were causing non stop vaginal bleeding and they were surgically removed. Recently, just after my last period, I started to have a watery discharge that was dark reddish to brown in color. It has a very foul order to it as well. I am concerned not only because of these symptoms, but I am also experiencing an aching pain in my lower right belly areAnswer Do you think this is an infection, or another polyps? or something else. What can it be? What should I do?
Answer You must see a gynec who can rule out another polyp. Your symptoms (watery discharge etc) are those of a polyp. Also, have an ultrasound done to rule out any fibroid or an ovarian cyst which maybe giving you the abdominal pain.

Question, I am currently on Marvelon (birth control) and I have not had sex yet concerned about pregnancy. Is there a certain time (ie. first week, during sugar pill week) that puts me at greater risk of becoming pregnant?
Please advise

Answer If you have taken the pill correctly, without forgetting it , you are safe even during the pill -free week. However, if you have had vomitting just after taking the pill, the effectiveness maybe reduced and it is advisable to use some alternative method like a condom during that cycle.

Answer Miscarriages occur in 20-30 % of pregnancies and there are various reasons . Was the heart beat of the fetus seen on ultrasound? Check your thyroid hormones and toxoplasmosis -as any abnormalities in these may be responsible for the miscarriage. You should get pregnant again and with adequate care regarding hormones, etc, your baby should be fine.

Question, My daughter just missed her period. i understand there is a shot to bring on her period ?

Question, We are newly married for 2 months. We had safe sex but my wife missed her period for 7 days now and she is also have no symptoms of motherhood. Can you tell is she pregnant.
Answer What do you mean by "safe sex? " If you mean during the "safe days" , that can often change depending on when she ovulates. It would be best to do a urine test for pregnancy like "clear blue .

Question, I have pcos and am trying for another baby. I was given Primolut-N tablets to take and have finished them. How long after the tablets should I expect my period. I have had these tablets before and got them within 3 days. It is now 5 days and nothing. Could my ovaries be shutting down.
Answer Relax! It sometimes takes a week to get a period after stopping the tablets. If you have regular periods , your ovaries are unlikely to be "shutting down "!

Question, my question is this. I have normal periods my cycle is 28-30 days every month. this month i was 4 days late took hpt came out neg. i took clomid 2 cycle ago and period came right on time after taking it. will clomid cause a delay 2 cycles later? what would cause me to be 4 days late otherwise?
Answer You probably did not ovulate or ovulated late this cycle (without the clomid) and therfore the delay in the period. Repeat the urine test after one week and if still negative , take duphaston tablets twice a day for 5 days to get a period.

Question, Hello Doc, I have a very perplexing question and I hope you might provide me with some insight. I am 27 yrs old, and have had multiple partners. I have always tested negative for STD's. My last partner was 6 mths ago, and just recently (last week)I developed a genital wart. I have always practiced safe sex, but was still concerned that I might have contracted HPV from my last partner..but it seems a little late (seeing how I've been celibate for 6 mths), to develop any physical manifestations of the infection. I used to have warts as a child (on feet and hands), and was wondering if it's possible that they're coming back? And also, if I do in fact have HPV, could it have possibly been contracted in a clinical or hospital setting? Basically, is HPV transmitted only sexually? I am a medical student, and do rotations at a hospital and with an emergency ambulance service. I have not had any incidences with needle sticks, or any other fluid exposure, but could I have "picked it up" from say, a dirty toilet seat, etc? Also, I am a type 1 diabetic, so my immunity is a bit compromised. Thank you so much.
Answer HPV is transmitted sexually in 95% of the cases. It can also be transmitted from the mother to the child. Transmission by sharing of towels with infected people have been suggested , but not proved. Other methods like toilet seats etc have also not been proved .

Question, Hi Doctor!
I m 27yrs old n have been married for the past 3yrs,my husband is 28yrs.
For the first 1-1/2 yrs we used condoms n then stopped it coz we wanted to conceive, we got all the tests done in a fertility clinic n it was diagnosed that my husbands tests are normal & I have multiple cysts in my right ovary n few in left & my right tube was patent n left was blocked or could not be visualised. but my doc said that since I was ovulating normally with tab siphene & the rupture was done with an injection i.e. pregnyl 5000 that was also normal n I can conceive with one tube being patent. but even after that I could not conceive for 7-8 months
.then I got a diagnostic laparoscopy done in may 2003 in which all the cysts were punctured, saline washing was given & it was found that both my tubes showed quick fill n spill n that my left tube was not blocked !!!
Now its been 4 months since we r trying after that!
Now that my husband has got a project in Muscat for two yrs n we r moving to Muscat in two days.
Can u please suggest what should we do now??
Can u please ans the following quries also:

*is there anything called as incompatibility between partners n what are its causes?
*is there any test to find out whether the tubes are WORKING normally although they are patent?
*i wish to visit u,pls can u tell me us fees etc,i m not very rich?
Thank u very much doctor!
God Bless u!

Answer I have answered your question previously. You can phone the clinic for an appointment.- 563181. Please bring all your reports when you come, so that we don't have to do the investigations again. We will keep your follow-up visits to the minimum to reduce your costs.

Question, Hi, I'm 22 years old. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with metastatic gestational trophoblastic disease and had a complete molar pregnancy. The doctors did a D&C as well as a laproscopy on me for this. In turn, the doctor told me I had to go on a birth control so they could tell if the cancer was coming back and not me getting pregnant, my HCG Quan was 844,000 and they needed to put me on chemo to bring it down to < 5, so I chose depo-proverAnswer I started the shot Nov. 6, 2001 and my last shot was April 7, 2003. It has been 7 1/2 months since my last menstrual cycle on Feb. 27, 2003. My husband and I would like to get pregnant, but I can't if I'm not ovulating. I'm really sad not ovulating and it makes me feel less of a woman like it's my fault, you know, I'm not "normal" right now. How do I know when I will get it again or at least what can I do to help the process of getting my cycle back on track safely?
Answer Do a pregnancy test like clear blue 16 days after the last intercourse. If it is negative , take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. Do an ultrasound on day 12 of the cycle to assess the size of the follicles. If you are not ovulating, your gynec can give you clomid tablets to ovulate and monitor your response. Don't worry, you will conceive !

Question, what is the best method for polycystic overvies, outside of provera, iud please help
Answer Your question was " what is the best method for polycystic ovaries ,outside of provera ,iud please help".I presume it was - "best method of contraception for polycystic ovaries......". You can also use pills like diane , specially if you have hirsutism- excessive hair growth.

Answers.
Answer Using a condom does give vaginal infection in some women. You should see a gynec . who can examine you, do a vaginal smear to check the type of infection you have and give you the appropriate treatment.

Question, Can you please tell me what's going on with me? I was prescribed Ortho Tri-Cyclen on the day after my menustration started. And now its been 9 days and my menustral is still on with a real heavy flow. What can possibly be going on on?
Answer During the first 1-2 cycles of the pill, there can be spotting for a few days throughout the cycle. You can take cyclokapron or exacyl tablets- one tablet three times a day for 3 days to stop the bleeding. If this occurs again in subsequent cyles, you would need to change the pill. The bleeding occurs because of the fluctauating hormone levels, and usually settles, so don't worry.

Question, I have been married for last 1 year. From the beginning I have irregular periods.. and I have been treated with many medicines and pills and that keeps me fine. If I stop pills/medicines my periods stops too... without medication its occurs in a gap of 3 to 4 months. For the last one year i was taking novelon as i didnt wanted to conceive, But for the last 3 months i am taking duphaston for 10 days from Day 16. I want to ask how will i know if i become pregnant.. will dupashton create any problems in conceiving? I mean every month d16 im taking the drug, should I do a pregnancy test before starting to take duphaston. please advice, Im extremely confused.. DOES HAVING PERIODS USING DUPHASTON MEANS IM OVULATING?
Answer Do you have PCO- polycystic ovaries? What are the levels of your FSH & LH hormones on day 2 of the cycle? Please let me know , so I can advice you accordingly. If you are planning to conceive, you should do a clear plan test or an ultrasound to check when you are ovulating and thus know the best time for conception. Duphaston will help regularise your period, but does not help in ovulation. Duphaston does not prevent conception. If you are not ovulating, you can take clomid tablets and monitor on ultrasound when you are ovulating .

Question, I am 30 years old. I am overweight from beginning, and in past 2 years I gained tremendous weight now I am 95 Kilos. I was having irregular periods, I was on ovral and stopped last year November followed by delayed period, then I didn't get period in January I got the period in February and it went on till April 21st the day when I had D&C. After D&C doctor asked me to take lo-ovral, I was on pills for 5 months, last month she asked me to stop it, and suggested me to take ovulation tests. I ovulated (seen LH surge line) on 13th and 14th days. I had intercourse 1 week before and 1 week after the ovulation (want to test whether I will get period in time or not). But I didnt get my period, it is 1 week late already. Dono whether I will get it or not. I am a working women and I have to drive a long way every day, 100 miles morning and 100 miles evening, so I am not able to do any sort of exercise, it is really causing mental tension. Is there any solution for my problem?
Answer Do you have PCO- polycystic ovaries. Are your thyroid tests normal? Do let me know, so I can advice you further . I know it is difficult, but you will have to excercise at least 30 minutes a day and follow a fat-free , calorie -restricted diet to loose weight. You could probably find a gym near your work-place and go there during your lunch-break. Since you wish to conceive, and if you have PCO, losing weight will increase your chances of conception. All the best !

Question, i have been taking estrostep for over a year now. not long ago i went home for a week to see my family and i forgot my pills. i missed 1 brown pill (my last one) then the first 3 white ones of the new pack. yes i had intercourse during this time. does the rest of the pills still work or should i start a new pack, wait and use another method? what are my chances of getting pregnant?
Answer Since you have forgotten more than one pill, you could have ovulated and could conceive. Do not start a new pack now. Do a urine test for pregnancy 16 days after the last intercourse. If negative , start the pill from the next period.

Question, I had an abortion in june and bled for 5 weeks, finally had a break for 1 week and then had a period. this was a normal period for me (in the amount of days and blood flow) only thing is, i havent had anything since then which was august, and i have had milky discharge since the start of october..i have done 5 pregnancy test which say negative...what is wrong with me..
Answer If your pregnancy test is negative you can take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. Is your milky discharge from the vagina or your breast? If from the vagina , it could be a fungal infection. If from the breast- it could be due to a high prolactin hormone, which also causes irregular periods. See agynec. who can give you the appropriate treatment. Also, do an ultrasound to make sure you do not have an ovarian cyst , which can sometimes cause irregular periods.

Question, Hi Doctor, I am 18 years old. About 2 weeks ago i was having pains when and after I urinated. The pain was not in my vaginal area, but in my lower stomach where my bladder is. Those pains have gone away, but now when i go to the bathroom, my clitoris has been bleeding, and a little painful. What could this be? Is there anything I can do without seeing a doctor? Thanks you very much.
Answer The pain in the abdomen could be due to a urinary infection. Check your urine for infection . For the bleeding from the clitoris, you will have to see a gynec. to determine the cause of the bleeding and the pain.

Question, hello doctor i just posted i just wanted to let you know when my periods were.11/15/03 10/13/03 9/11/03/ 8/18/03 7/20/03 what would cause a 34 delay between oct and nov? there hasn't been any stress. two cycles ago clomid would that delay period? i was 4 days late and cramping is lower. when i went to dr last month she said my uterus was slightly enlarged and cervix was hiding . any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer Your cycle variability is within normal limits, so you don't need to worry. However, you can do an ultrasound to rule out any ovarian cyst or a fibroid , which can be the reason for the pain and the enlarged uterus, respectively. An abnormality in the thyroid and prolactin hormones can also cause cycle variability. You could also check these if the periods are further delayed.

Answer What day of the cycle did you ovulate? The period usually comes 15 days after ovulation, so if you had ovulated around day 19 of the period, you could have a period on day 34. While you were on the clomid, you probably ovulated on day 13 or 15 of the cycle and therefore had a 28-30 day cycle. Now that you are off the clomid , ovulation could have occurred later or not at all, and therefore the delay.

Question, I am trying to have a baby. I have come off the pill for 4 months now and I am menstruating regularly. However, after intercourse I find that the semen (sperm)comes out of my virgina instead of going inside.
Whilst I was on the pill this was not the case. Please could you advise on how this could be changed.
Thanks

Answer The amount of semen coming out after intercourse does not change whether on or off the pill. However, there maybe vaginal dryness with the pill, which you don't have now and your natural vaginal secretions are coming out with the semen. You can use a pillow under your buttocks during intercourse and also lie down for 2-3 hours after that. During this time most of the sperms would go into the uterus, and the remaining fluids of the semen would come out . This is normal, so don't worry..

Question, I am having a bad smell from my virgina, like onion. I visited the gyno sometime before twice for this and only got some medication for yeast infection and we also did a pap but all was well. The smell is always there after showers also. What could this smell be coming from?
Answer Do a vaginal smear for infection and if required, a vaginal culture and sensitivity. This will tell you the type of infection you have and the best medication for your infection. If these tests are normal, take certain measures like wearing only cotton panties, changing twice or thrice a day, frequent showers. Also, you could use seba-med feminine intimate wash to reduce the odour.

Answer Since you are now in Muscat, you can see me. Take an appointment- phone no : 563181.Please bring all your previous reports . I'm sure you will conceive soon- so don't worry. I will also test for sperm- mucus interaction .(incompatibility)

Question, My wife took primolut-n to prolong perids .now she is pregnant .what to do?
Answer Usually, primolut affects the fetus only around 14 weeks, so if she has stopped primolut prior to that, it should not be a problem . However, she should do a detailed ultrasound by an experienced doctor to rule out any abnormalities in the fetus.

Question, I am 36 years old and recently married. We want a child and so went in for a full check up first. My gynaec did a FSH test on day 2 of my period which came out as 13. She says I cannot have a child except through IVF and even then the chances are only 5%. Is this correct? I have always had very regular periods in a short 25 day cycles since I was 10. The HSG and all other tests were normal. Can I get pregnant naturally?
Answer Please let me know the range of the FSH ( of the follicular phase). Every lab . has a different range , so that is important. Also, were you on any medication prior to the test? Certain hormones may give a high reading, so let me know and I can advice you. Has the doctor suggested IVF because you have blocked tubes or your husband's count is very low? Do let me know.

Question, we are recently married couple.initialy ( before two months) i had veginal itching that had subsided after i had applied candid b oinment.but now after i had completed my period on 7Th november i had white discharge followed by itching sensation.the problem continues still. can you explain me the reason for this.for your information i am maintaining my veginal area neat & clean.
Answer You probably have vaginal infection which is giving you the white discharge and then the itching. You can use candid -v 6 pessaries for 6 nights. Avoid intercourse during that time. If the problem persists, see a gynec. who can determine whether you have any other infection.

Question, 1. what are some of the reasons women don't get pregnant every time they have intercourse?
2.is it possible for a woman to get pregnant during menstruatioin?
3. whay are the most significant health risks for your offspring if you were to use alcohol, marijuana, or smoke cigarettes?
4. at what point in the developing embryo/fetus is the nervous system most susceptible to damage by environment factors, such as drugs, alcohol, low oxygen levels, etc?
5.what is the best way to prevent contracting a sexually transmitted disease? second best?
6. following conception, at what point during the development of the human zygote is it considered to be embryo or getus and when dors it have rights accordig to Michigan law?

Answer 1. Conception is a complicated process involving various factors. I can list a few reasons for not getting pregnant everytime you have intercourse. Once the ovum ruptures from the ovary , it has to be picked up by the fallopian tube. This may not occur even with healthy tubes, but more likely when there are adhesions around the tube or the fimbrial ends of the tubes are unhealthy. Once within the tube the ovum should be fertilised by the sperm . This may not occur. Also, during the passage of the sperms into the uterus, a large number may die in the vagina or the cervix and therfore not enough may reach the tube. Once fertilisation has occured implantation may not occur in the uterusand one does not conceive.
2. Yes, depending on the length of her bleeding and the time of ovulation.e.g. If a woman has a short cycle , say every 22 days, she maybe ovulating on the 5th or 6th day of her period and therfore may conceive even during the menstruation. However, this is rare.
3. There is an increased risk of abortion, premature delivery and growth retardation with most of these. The risks depend on when the offending organ has been used and how much. You can look up the individual factor pertaining to you -log onto www.vidyAnswercom/pdfs1123underlying pdf.for further details. The child can have seizures, impaired motor skills and reflexes. Alcohol also causes some facial abnormalities- craniofacial defects.
4. The nervous system is most susceptible to damage around 18-30 days after conception. Again, individual factors would affect the system at different periods of gestation.
5.Using condoms .
6.The development of the embryo is a continuous process. The zygote is formed at the end of fertilisation . The zygote then implants within the uterus and an embryo is formed. Since I do not live in the U.S., I will be unable to answer your question on Michigan Law .

Question, Could you tell me about a procedure called LAPROSCOPIC OVARIAN DRILLING and whether it is proved successful in treating hirsuitism and irregular periods ?
Answer Laparoscopic ovarian drilling is carried out for patients with PCO.Under anaesthesia, a laporscope(like a telescope) is introduces in the abdomen and the ovaries are visualised. Small holes are made in the surface of the ovaries. This helps to reduce the testosterone formed within the ovary. However, the procedure is associated with complications, including pelvic adhesions. These may later prevent ovum pick-up ang pregnancy. You should consider ovarian drilling only if you wish to conceive and other medication has been unsuccessful .For hirsutism and irregular periods alone, you can use diane and androcure

Question, I'M 5 MONTHS PREGNANT AND I HAVE SEVERAL MEDICAL PROBLEMS' BUT MY QUESTION TODAY IS, WHAT IS THIS YELLOW JELLY LIKE DISCHARGE I'M HAVING COMING FROM MY VAGINA?
Answer The yellow discharge maybe vaginal infection. See a gynec who can examine you and determine the type of infection you have and give you adequate treatment that is safe in pregnancy.

Question, Hello doc,i am TTC #1, i have been diagnosed with PCOS but have normal hormone levels. Only prolactin slightly high for which i am on proctinal 1.25mg twice daily. my doc advised 3 rounds of ovulation induction, and an HSG after that if pregnancy not achieved. after 2 unsuccessful rounds of Siphene 50 mg ( cd 2-6) and duphaston 10 mg(cd 21-30), ( ovulated on 1st round but no matured follicles on CD 14 in the second round), i am due for my last round with 100 mg. My husband's HSA is 90 million/ ml with 60 % motility. I am tooooo scared to take an HSG, is it necessary even if i do not have a history of PID? i have lots of CM during ovulation ( do i still need a PCT) now i am feeling devastated, how long will it take for me to get pregnant? i am going into depression because of this. Please help me figure out whether i should take the 3rd round or get an HSG done before taking med?? I am 26 and my husband is 27, and we are married for almost a year.We used BCP initially and started trying in June '03 and went for a preconception visit ( thats when PCOS was diagonsed) do you think we should try naturally for some time ?
Answer First of all, relax! Since most of your tests are normal and you are on proctinal , you should conceive soon. Before doing an HSG, do a PCT .If that is normal, do an HSG- there is no need to be scared. Since you are getting depressed, the faster you conceive, the better. Probably, if you stop worrying , you will conceive soon. You can try naturally, once you know the PCT and HSG are normal and you are ovulating even without siphene. All the best!

Question, I have these bumps on my virginal area but its on the lips of it could you help me please and tell me what should i do.
Answer You have to see a gynec. who can see the type of the lesions and give you adequate treatment. It could be an abscess, warts or even a bartholin cyst- so it is difficult to advice you regarding treatment without knowing what it is.

Question, I have 2 children, and really have very little concieving. My youngest is 2 and i get a period about every 4 or 5 months, i dont start until my doctor gives me progesterone. I have been tested for tyriod and all other problems, she prescribe me clomid but i didnt take it. My husband is afaid of multiples. I hanent had a period in 4 months but my nipples have been sore for 2 weeks now, i took a pg test it was neg, can it be a sign of something eles?
Answer You can repeat the pregnancy test 15 days after the last intercourse. If this is negative , take duphaston to get a period. Since you wish to conceive, check whether you are ovulating by clear plan or ultrasound. If you are not, you should take clomid - only 50 mg a day. You are unlikely to have multiples with that (with your history). However, do an ultrasound on day 11 of your period (after the clomid) to see the number of follicles, and if multiple follicles are present- avoid that cycle. During the next cycle , clomid can be given in a smaller dose or for a shorter period.

Question, How to postpone my period. My doctor suggest me Primout-N tablets. Is it ok. My last period date was 24 October.
Second Question is I am getting married on 20th November. But i don't want to bady immediately after marriage. For this what i should do?

Answer You can take promolut -N to delay the period , but you must be careful that you don't conceive during that time. Regarding contraception, the only method that is 100% is the contraceptive pill. You must see a gynec who can examine you and advice you regarding the best pill for you. The low -dose pills are usually started on the first day of the period.

Question, I Like to know if drinking was the cause for a baby to die inside of me I had to have my insides scraped out ?
Answer You have to let me know how many weeks you were pregnant and what really happenedto the pregnancy- was there a heart beat which later disappeared or there was no heart-beat from the beginning? Usually, drinking does not cause death of the fetus. Depending on how many weeks you were pregnant, and whether you start bleeding on your own, one can decide on the need for a D&C ( scraping).

Question, I am 32 years old and have two children. Last week I noticed bumps on my inner lips of my vigina (they look like skin tags). A friend told me that I may need to bo a biopsy to see if it is cancer. Also, my youngest child is 2 years and 4 months old and my breast have not stopped producing milk. This friend noted to me that it might be a tumor. This has all freaked me out! Please give me more information about all this!
Answer Your friend has a phobia of cancer and thinks all problems are cancer ! Bumps on the vulva maybe warts. The breast milk secretion maybe due to a high prolactin level. Do a blood test for prolactin. If high, you can take certain tablets like dostinex, parlodel or dopergin to stop the milk flow. Your gynec can do the blood test and also examine your vulvAnswer

Question, I` am 26.I`had my abortion done 5 weeks ago. There was no bleeding after the procedure;(I would mention here that I have von Willebrand disease,so I recieved DDAVP 20 micro.mg before to avoid excessive bleeding).Second week after abortion I started bleeding, and it`s been on since then(havily);so now I`m concered wether is it normal?I`ve recieved a medicine from Europe;Dicynone -etamsylatum 250 mg pills, and I`don`t know it would solve or controll my bleeding;and what is the right dose for me in this case? Please, reply me as soon as possible!Thank you very much!
Answer Sometimes, one gets bleeding off and on for about 2-3 weeks after a D&C. You can take dicynone to stop the bleeding. However, if you are on any other medication, check with your doctor that dicynone will not interact with your medication. You can take one tablet three times a day for 4-5 days .Also, do a urine test for pregnancy to make sure there is no hormone -producing tissue yet in your uterus.

Question, My period has been a couple days late for the past twon months. My last period has left me with a light brown watery discharge. It has a very strong odor to it. I have never experienced anything like this. I do not have health insurance. Is there anything I can do without going to the doctor? I am very embarressed.
Answer Regarding your period , you can wait for 2-3 months to see if they are regular again. Your disharge could be fungal, bacterial or trichomonial. Let me know where you live , so I can advice you regarding vaginal pessaries which you may get over the counter.

Please can you help.i think i may ahve a weks system coukld that be the problem??? .
Answer The periods can be irregular for the first 1-2 years . You can do an ultrasound to rule out any problem with the uterus or ovaries which maybe responsible for the irregular peeriods. You may also have PCO- polycystic ovaries, which is present in 20% of females and is associated with irregular periods. If your ultrasound is normal, you can check your hormones like FSH, LH, THYROID & PROLACTIN , as any abnormality in these can give you the period problem.

Question, I'm 22 years old and recently had a baby 3 months ago. During my pregnancy I had an abnormal pap and also at my 6 week check up. In my 7th month of pregnancy I found out that I had genital warts(HPV). The doctor now wants to do a colposcopy because he says that I have mild dysplasia which could have been caused by the HPV. After I delivered the warts went away completely. There are no symptoms of HPV remaining (at least not to the naked eye).My boyfriend has been tested and is negative. My doctor tells me that I could have had this for years and that the only reasons that symptoms appeared whas because I was pregnant. I know that there is no cure for HPV but what I'm wondering is if this is a virus that I will have for the rest of my life or will it eventually go away by itself? Knowing that I have the HPV makes me feel very disgusting and nasty.
Answer Let me know the result of your PAP smear (the one at 6 weeksafter delivery) so I can advice you accordingly. Regarding your warts, The virus remains in your body even when the lesions disappear. You may , therefore, get re-infected at any time. Accept the fact that you have the virus and don't get upset about it.

Question, I had an emergency c-sect. in 1990 due to fetal distress. I am cut vertically. In 1993, I miscarried at the end of my 1st trimmester. In 2000, I had a severe tailbone injury. I am now pregnant and worry about a vaginal birth. Is this safest for me? or should I look forward to another c-section?
Answer When you say you were cut vertically, is it the skin scar you are tlking about or the uterine scar?Usually ,one has a transverse uterine scar. Rarely, a vertical uterine scar is required and , then, you may need a c-section again. You need to check with your doctor whether a vertical uterine scar was required. If it was a transverse scar, you can have a normal delivery, if there are no other complications.

Question, I have concieved in the past so know my husband and i are able to but now i am having problems. I have had all the checks including a HSG. Everything came back ok. I was just wondering if maybe it had to do with hormonal imbalances in myself. I have a milky white discharge from my breast and seem to be producing a small amount of hair on my breast. which i have never done before. can you give my some advice?
Answer The milky white discharge could be due to a high prolactin level. Do the prolactin hormone test. If high, take parlodel, dopergin or dostinex. Once your hormone is normal, your chances of conception will increase, as a high prolactin level may cause infertility. Regarding your hair growth, is there extra growth even on the rest of your body? If yes, then do a testosterone level , as a high testosterone can be associated with excessive hair growth.

Question, Hi, I am 29yrs old and have alway known when I was been very aware of what was going on with my body. I have irregular periods and so have always writen down on a calender when I started. I have noticed a for the past few months that between my periods around ovulation that I have been having black stringy discharge mixed in with my normal clear vaginal discharge. I am very concerned about this black stuff. I was wondering if it could just be left over old blood. It does not have an oder that is unusuall and it doesn't itch. It is not heavy enough to wear a pad, it is just on the toilet paper. I had a normal pap test 1 yr ago and have had 2 c-sections with my tubes being tied 2 yrs ago. Could you give me an idea how serious this could be? Thank you.
Answer A small amount of bleeding is common during ovulation. Since the amount is usually small , it maybe black, brown or pink. This is absolutely normal, so you should not worry about it. If you have this spotting at any other time of the cycle also or after intercourse, see a gynec to rule out any vaginal or cervical infection.

Question, Dear doctor,I am 26 years old I have three kids and have never had any problems trying to get pregnate before. I saw my obgyn on 7-1-03 all my labs and pap came back fine. my last period was 07-25-03 and it is now 10-03-03 so it has almost been 3 months since my last period. I have taken a home pregnancy test about 2 weeks ago and it was negative. what can be wrong? thank you for your help.
Answer You can take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period . On around the 4th or 5th day of the period , see a gynec who can do an ultrasound to rule out any problem in the uterus or ovaries responsible for the irregular periods. Do you have polycystic ovaries ? That may cause irregular periods and problems with ovulation. If your scan is normal , check your thyroid and prolactin hormones as an abnormality in these may cause irregular periods.

Question, i have always had a abnormal menstrual since i was 9yrs old. they have always lasted any where from 10 days to 14 days long. recently i have bled inbetween periods. when i have sex i bleed. not everytime, but most of the time. what could be wrong with me?
Answer Do an ultrasound to rule out a fibroid which may cause prolonged periods. See a gynec who can examine you and see whether you have an erosion of the cervix or any vaginal infection which is giving you the intermenstrual or post-coital bleeding. If an erosion is present, a cryosurgery can be done ( without anaesthesia - in a doctor's office ).

Question, Have a constant vaginal discharge for at least a year now. More when i have a bowel movement it comes out perfuse. I have been testing for everything std, BV, Tric. etc. nothing all negative. I had a leep done for abnormal cells, and the leep biopsy came back fine. So i really dont now what is wrong with me and a have a chronic inflammation of the cervix which isnt caused by a std, or a IUD cause i have neither. PLease HELP
Answer What was the result of your vaginal swab? Also, has a culture been done on the vaginal secretions - let me know the result. Also, have you and your husband been treated simultaneously for trichomonial or fungal infection? Recurrence and transmission from one partner to another is common. Is your discharge clear mucoid or white curdy or yellowish ? Do let me know , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, I am not good at english but here goes....I am korean...
I always had abnormal period..like 5 weeks a part and it last for anywhere 5 to 8 days and I have 2 children...after giving birth to my secound child 8 years ago I start having a brown discharge few days after the period is over for a few days and than it stops and back to normal....I never had brown discharge before giving birth to my secound child however, this last month I had my period and I had no brown discharge for a 3 weeks and now three weeks after my period, I have brown discharge for three days so far and than forth day, I see bright red blood...it isn't a lot but noticeable and I know this isn't my period...when I have my regullar period, first few days I bleed really heavy and than it slows down...anyway, I have no pain or discomfort.....what could it be? Should I go see a Doctor if it continues for few more days? I know it isn't my period time yet...please advise
I really appreciated

Answer Since you have had inter-menstrual bleeding for a long time, see a gynec who can examine you for any cervical or vaginal infection which maybe giving you the problem. Also, have an ultrasound done to rule out a fibroid or an ovarian cyst.

Question, hi DR im a 31 year old female i have A LOT OF ITCHING IN AND AROUND MY VAGINA area i also have a ovarian cyston my left side can this cause itching it seems to happen sometimes before my period or after it there is no pain when i pee there is little or no dischargejust alot of itching i used to take the pill and the dr said the pill can cause yeast infecion but i havint been on the pill in about 2years and still continue to itch? also i have to girls 8&4 thay say sometimes they itch down there can it pass through the toilet seat can they get a infection to ? thank you hope to here from you soon.
Answer You probably have vaginal infection . See a gynec who can do a vaginal swab and determine the type of infection you have and give you and your husband appropriate treatment. Treatment for your husband will help prevent recurrences. Regarding your daughters, they can also get vulval infection. Make sure you all wear cotton panties. Also , sometimes dryness of the skin also results in itching. Use a soap like oilatum. If these measures don't help, your daughters (and you ) can apply a cream like travocort twice a day for 5 days.

Question, I think I have a viginal yeast infection but im not sure. I have been itching and i have this bump down there. I dont know if it is a yeast infection or not. What are the causes and the symptoms of a yeast infection?
Answer Yeast infection is a common infection and can occur more often afteer antibiotics, swimming and pregnancy. See a gynec who can do a vaginal swab and determine the type of infection you have and treat you and your partner. Till you see your gynec, you can use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days to reduce the itching.

Question, hi, i have been noticing a really bad smell coming from my vaginAnswer its like bad body oder, not the normal smell...its been like this for a long time, and its extremely potent. i need some advice please help...im 19 years old
Answer You need to see a gynec who can determine whether you have any vaginal infection and treat you accordingly. Some other skin problems or hormonal disturbances can also cause the odour and your doctor can determine that.

Question, I have a white pasty discharge and very seldom it has an odor to it do i have anything to worry about
Answer A white pasty disharge could ne due to a fungal infection of the vagina and should be treated with anti-fungal pessaries and or oral tablets. A clear mucoid discharge around mid-cycle followed by a slight thick discahrge is common due to ovulation.

Question, i am 26yrs old we are planing to start a family, my cycles are for 34days , so my last conecption day was 11th of sept after 3 days i am feeling cramping in my lower abodminal and tiredness , my period are due on 24th of sept , i am confused wether this a sign of pregnancy or my period
Answer You said your last conception day was 11th Sept. Did you mean your period was then or you think you ovulated then? Do let me know so I can advice you accordingly. Conception day would mean the day you conceived (got pregnant) and that is could only be judged if you know when you ovulated.

Question, i just had a baby 2 months ago and i still havent started my period yet why is that ? could thier be something wrong . is it normal to not have stared yet ?
Answer If you are breast-feeding, you may not get a period till you are. However, sometimes, you can get pregnant even without a period , so check your urine for a pregnacy and then use approriate contraception till you desire another pregnancy.

Question, Hi there
I'm 33 years old woman and married for seven months my doctor told me that I have an overian cyst this is the size he give me 37x16x26mm 8mls i'm also having a side pain I would like to know if I can still get a pregrant in the future or what are the risks of this kind of overian cyst? and what are the treatments. many thanks

Answer Your pain maybe due to the cyst. Since it is still small, your gynec. can give you medication to try and reduce the size of the cyst . In some cases the cyst may disappear with the medication. If it persists, it can go into torsion (can twist) or can rupture. Both these would give you severe abdominal pain and may require surgery. The surgery can be done by a laparoscope or by opening the abdomen. Usually, the cysts do not interfere with conceiving.

Question, My husband and I got pregnant very shortly after we got married last December of 2002. I ended up losing the baby at 10 almost 11 weeks and had to have a D&C. We are currently trying to conceive again and so far nothing. I haven't had the egg-white cervical mucous since my D&C. I know I have to be ovulating because I still have cervical mucous around that time. But I do have a question for you. This month we have been trying. The first day of my last period was on September 8, 2003 and I am not due to start again until around the 8th of October. For the past 3 days I have been having very light, almost period like cramps, in my lower stomach near my ovaries. What do you think this means? It almost feels like the cramping I had when I was pregnant before, but I thought it might be way too early to get those.
Answer You can use the clear plan test to determine when you are ovulating and thus know your fertile period. If this does not determine that you are ovulating, see a gynec. who can do an ultrasound to determine the time of ovulation. Mucus alone may not be very reliable. The cramping can occur before a period and also during a pregnancy. Some of us give certain medications to prevent another miscarriage . You can check with your gynec.

Question, I am going on a vacation and would like to postpone my period. Can that be done? How? And is it safe? This is an expensive trip and I bleed heavily so I do not want to have it during my 4 day trip. Thanks.
Answer You can use duphaston tablets twice a day from one week prior to the expected period until the day you finish your trip. Sometimes, that may still cause spotting. Primolut- N can be used in a similar way, but you have to make sure you do not get pregnant during that cycle. Duphaston is "pregnancy - safe " . The other alternative is to use exacyl tablets - 2 tablets three times a day and cataflam twice a day from the first day of the period for 5 days. These would reduce your bleeding and pain.

Question, hello my age is 44 I will be 45,in Oct. I had a hystorectomy in 1988.Just recently I have started spotting,it wasn't much before but it is noticeable now. I have more in my underwear than I did before.I don't know where the blood is coming from or why I am bleeding,as for as I know I shouldn't be.there is no pain or anything going on.I just want to know what you think this might be.I have had a recent surgery well last Nov. I had to have my gall bladder removed it was lazer surgery, but I have had no problems since I had the surgery.I had a complete hystorecty if I didn't say that before so I don't know where the blood would be coming from. Please let me know as soon as possible I am a truckdriver & need to find out about this soon.Thank you..
Answer You must see a gynec who can examine you and determine from where you are bleeding. You could be having vaginal infection or a growth giving the bleeding. The site of your internal sutures may also be bleeding.

Question, I am pregnent now, 5 month started.I have inching problem at outside my vegina & white discharge also. Now i feel that color of veginal discharge is yellow. Can you tell me what is the reason & any problem for child. Thanks
Answer You probably have fungal infection of the vagina which is common during pregnancy. See a gynec, who can examine you and give you appropriate treatment which is safe in pregnancy.

Question, last year i had an hystrectomy, and got a bad infection three days after they had to take me in to intensive care because of how ill i became, During the operation they left my ovaries, and three weeks ago i was admitted back nto hospital with pain in the right side and was told tht i needed to have my right ovarie removed which they did, he said that he also had to do a lot of repair work for abrasions , his words was i was in a mess down there but i should be ok now, now at home i am still getting bad pain and having to go to the toilet every 20 mins for a wee and when i start it is very painfull and seems to last for a long time, i have been told that i have got anurine infection and was given a course of antibiotics but the pain is still there and i amstill going to the toilet alot. pain gets worseandas me in tears wheni pass water and islike a stabbing pain , i am taking cocodamal for he pain but it dose not seem to be having any affect on the pain,
Answer Your pain is probably because of the urinary infection and the adhesions, which may have also increased with the recent surgery. Do a urine for culture and sensitivity and take the appropriate antibiotic for 7 days , so that the infection does not recur. If not better, see a urologist as the frequency you experience may not be only due to infection but due to a problem with the muscles of your bladder

Question, I am a healthy 34 year old woman. Until recently I have never had a menstraul cycle that was irregular. About 2 months ago I noticed that my cycle was late, I was not pregnant. Eventually that cycle finished but when it was time for the following cycle, it was early and I have not stopped bleeding since. Some days are not very heavy, and some days are, I have no cramps or anything like that. Any idea what the problem could be?
Answer There are many causes for menstrual irregularities, stress , being one of them . Also, have an ultrasound done to rule out an ovarian cyst . A fibroid in the uterus may cause heavy bleeding. If the ultrasound is normal and the problem recurs, do hormone tests of thyroid and prolactin as an abnormality of these can also cause iregular periods. Appropriate treatment can be given. Since you have bled profusely, do a hemoglobin to make sure you are not anaemic.

Question, I am 19 years old and have recently had laproscopic surgery to rid endometreosis and a cyst. They have been testing out diff. birth controls to see which one works the best. I have gained about 10lbs. while following a strict diet and exercise routine. Could any of this be related to the sudden weight gain?
Answer Birth contol pills can cause weight gain , but the "new "ones like gracial or yasmin would not cause a lot of change in the weight. Which one are you using ? Also, are your thyroid hormones normal? An abnormality in these may also cause weight gain.

Question, Hello. Please could you answer my question because I am really worried. I used to take prednison, metothrexate and plaquinil for my arthritis for almost 6 months. Now I started with Humira injections and stoped with everything else even though my doctor did not tell me to stop right away but to take less than before. About a week after that I notices bleeding when I urinate. It lasted for a week and stoped. Then after few days it came back again and it is only when I urinate. I don't have any pain except that I noticed some kind of rush on my face which is itching. could you please help me and tell me what to do and could the stopping with the medications cause bleeding? Or what else could it be and how can I stop it? Thank you
Answer Your problem is not related to gynecology, but I will try to answer you. First of all , have your urine checked. There might be infection or some other kidney or bladder problems giving you the bleeding. If that is normal, see a gynec who can determine whether there is any vaginal or uterine problem giving you the bleeding. ( Usually, however, that may cause spotting or bleeding throughout the day , not only when you pass urine ). The rash on your face maybe due to some food allergy or due to certain medication you may have taken. Check with a dermatologist or your orthopaedician .

Question, I am a 26 yr old married woman.I would like to conceive Kindly suggest when will be the best time for intercourse so as to conceive. My menstrual cycle for the last two months is given below and it has been following the same pattern all along.

July'03 9th-13th
Aug'03 16 th -20th
Sept'03 26th -30th

The time gap between two cycles is ususlly 28 -30 days.It has been regularly following this pattern.
Kindly suggest.

Answer With the cycle pattern you have, your fertile period is from 11th to 17 th day of the cycle. You can do the clear plan test to determine the most fertile period. If you don't conceive within 2-3 months , see a gynec who can determine when exactly you are ovulating by doing an ultrasound. Also, check your husband's semen.

Question, Dear doc
i have been married for 2 yrs and we have been TTC for the past whole year.last year in nov i was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and i have ovarian drilling for that after that my gynec put me on clomid which i did for two cycles and then i missed my period for 2 months so it was discontinued.i tool primulut for that and she asked me to get and IUI as it was an expensive procedure i did not pusue it this was this year in april. now i have a sudden urge to concieve and i had changed my gyna who told me to take the same drugs and injections for iui but to try it with normail intercourse .
i took prolifen 50 mg from day 2 till day 6 then got HMG massone inj on day 9 and 10 , then a tvs ultrasound which showed dominant follicle in each ovary with multiple small follicles after which i got a profasi shot , we had intercourse in the following 48 hours my husbands spermcount is nomarl so is motile is 60%now on day 15 and 16 i have been experiancing mood swings and fatigue with very sore nipples what could it be cout it be that im pregnant pls tell me as i go thru these extreme emotional up and downs during every cucle and what are the chances of me concieveing thru this ovulation induction .

Answer First of all, relax! You are extremely tense and that may reduce your chances of conception and also cause the mood swings. The hormonal changes in the pre-period stage also give rise to mood changes. The treatment you are undergoing is fine and since you are having timed intercourse and you are ovulating, you should conceive. Have your fallopian tubes been checked ? The more number of follicles you have, the more are your chances of conceiving, so your gynec . may do "superovulation" to increase your chances. Relax and you should conceive soon !

Question, I was on comid 100mg last month. my follicle ruptured on day 17 or 16. i could not get a sonography on the 16th day but as told so on the 17th day. today it is 19 days past ovulation. i have no symptoms of pregnancy except breasts hurting. i am keen to know if i am pregnant. my doctor has asked me to wait for 10 more days. i am very eager t conceive adn would like to know my chances
Answer If you are already 19 days past ovulation, a urine test for pregnancy like the clear blue should be positive. You don't need to wait longer . You can also do a blood test - beta- hcg if the urine test is negative. Both these are definitely positive within 15 days post - ovulation.

Question, Hi Doctor! My sister is trying to get pregnant for 2 years. Her doctor said that she had an infantile uterus. She put her on some hormones to "make the uterus grow". Her doctor says that the uterus will grow in 3 months and then she should be able to get pregnant. Is that all true? My sister is very worried... Thank you!
Answer Do let me know the size of the uterus, the result of hormone tests like FSH, LH < PROLACTIN and THYROID tests. . If she has regular periods and is ovulating, onedoes not have to worry much about the size of the uterus.

Question, Dear Doctor,
I was having irregular periods due to an increase in Prolactin hormone. I had been taking medication & it came to be normal. Now my periods are regular but since the doctor found that there is no ovulation, she prescribed me Clomid. I have taken clomid for my July periods which was from 23rd to 26th. From the scan we got to know that I ovulated on the 14th day, but unfortunately, I did not get pregnant. My husband was taking Sandoz & Selenium too.In August, the periods came on 20th-24th without any medication. No clomid was also taken. Since we did not get periods in Sept, we did clear blue test on 23rd Sept, which was +ve. I checked with the doctor who has asked me to come for a scan on 3rd October. I need to know whether this is the normal procedure to have a scan after a month's time since my doc did not even do a urine test for me. Also, please let me know what all things I need to eat, to excercise, to take rest etc since I live away from my parents. Is there anything paticular that I need to avoid for the well-being of the baby & myself? i hate to eat rice(i am from india), so is there any substitute for that ? I am 5feet 1 inch tall & weighs 62 kg now. Thanks a lot.

Answer If you are in Oman, you can see me and I can advice you acoordingly as your pregnancy can be carefully monitored and all your on-going questions regarding diet etc can be answered . The advice would depend on how your pregnancy continues, whether your blood sugar is high and how much weight you are putting on etc (these are diffficult to answer by e-mail as a lot of factors have to be considered ) ! A urine test comes positive 15 days after conception , so why you were not asked to do it , I cannot understand.

Question, i got marries when i was 20 yo i am now 30 and still has no child. i once got pregnant on our 2nd year only to be diagnosed as blighted ovum. i was only infected (acute cervicitis) after my pregnancy and my doctor said that is one of the reasons why i dont get pregnant. the infection has been treated already but since then i had irregular periods already. if not induced i can go as long as 10 mos w/o my periods. please help me i am running out of time and i do wish to have a baby. thanks
Answer Do your blood tests - FSH, LH, PROLACTIN, THYROID TESTS on day 2 of the period and let me know. Also let me know your husband's recent semen report and I can advice you accordingly.

Question, I am 30 yrs old and my husband 34. We have been trying to become pregnant for over 2 years now. I have never been on birth control. I have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids (multiple). I also did the HSG and found that one of my tubes was blocked. I do not experience the 'eggy' vaginal mucus that I am told i healthy for the sperm to live in. Instead, I have a "caky" (thick white) dischange on my ovulation days (sometimes with an odour). Please help us know our options. We need a baby.
Answer You need to check whether you are ovulating or not. This is best checked by ultrasound. You can also try the clear plan test. Also, check your husband's semem If you are not ovulating ,see a gynec who can give you clomid tablets. Since one of your tubes is blocked it is advisable to check which ovary is producing a follicle and plan accordingly.

Question, My husband, age 56, wears patches because of low testerone. I also am 56 and had a complete hyster at 41 so am on a low dose of estrogen replacement. Since about one month after he started wearing the patches, I have experienced a huge increase in libido, to the point of discomfort. Is it possible the patches are affecting me, too, in some way?
Answer Your husband's patches would not affect you.

Question, hi docter i am a 21yr old female with some menstraul problems. first off i had been on the depo provera shot for about 6months when i ws 16yrs old. i gained a lot of wieght while i was on the shot. of course my periods stopped but i have had a hard time gettting to regulate them since. i had normal periods up until the shot ( mayb a day or 2 late) i havent had a normal period in about 5yrs, with out it being hormone induced, i cant take birth control i have been on 6 different kinds and they all give me migrains. the medicaition i am on for my bi polar diagnoses (lamictal) i cant be on hormone pills. when i would have a period ( while it was hormone induced) i would bleed for about a month and it would be heavy i would feel worn out, and very crampy.. the periods were painful.. to the poing i coulnd move sometimes. One docter i saw said he believed i could have endometriosis. ( i have chronic lower abdominal pains along with lowe back bains for about 4 years) he ever did any laproscopic surgery to see or not. he sent me to a specialist in pittsburgh (my fiance and i were trying to get pregnant to. we still are its been 2 yrs that we have been trying) anyway the pretty much told me i was full o crap with the endometriosis and that i was just to heavey. they put me on a high protien low carb diet and told me after i lose about 20 lbs my periods would regulate .. never happend i lost a total of 25lbs and nothing still nothing . no periods, still in pain constantly. anther docter told me the pain i had was in my head cuz i had a history of sexaul abuse. i would of start having the pain when i was 12 not 16. and i dont think that would cause my periods to be irregular or non existat if he was right would it ? also. could it be possible that i have the polycystic overy ... i cant remember the last word sorry. ? here is a list of my syptoms in a nutshell no periods without hormome treatment. with treatment lasts month is heavey and painful. constant pain in my lower back and abdimon facial hair i have had a cyst on my overies. removed when i was 13yrs old since then i have had lots of sonograms, internal exams. and the docters all say im ok.. but im not .. what could be the problem ? please get back to me soon.. i want to change docters also.. i just get a run around. do you know any good ones in the Du Bois pa area?
thanks again.

Answer Irregular periods do occur after a depo-provera . Secondly, women with polycystic ovaries also have irregular periods and excess hair growth.. You have not mentioned whether you wish to conceive now or not. Your further treatment would depend on that. Do let me know, so I can advice you accordingly. You should do some hormone tests on day 2 of your period- FSH, LH and Prolactin. Let me know these results too.I do not know any doctors in your area, but i am sure if you ask some of your friends, you would find the right doctor.

Question, I am a 24 year old woman who has had my right fallopian tube removed due to 3 ectopic pregnancies on the right side.I have been put on clomid and tried iui to become pregnant and nothing is working. Is there any other option for me being that I have less of a chance of conceiving with one tube other than IVF??? please help.it is impossible to get any help in this country. thanks
Answer You have said "impossible to get help in this country " . Where are you ? Which city ? Let me know , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, I am 28 years old and diagnosed as PCOD last year. The testosterone level was raised so was the LH/FSH but on ultrasound of pelvis no cyst was found. My doctor ordered for the CT abdomen to look for any changes in the Adrenal which came out to be normal in size.I have been having mentrual problem(irregular cycles) for a log time (more than 10 years). She prescribed me Microgestin(Ethnyl Estradiol 20mcg and norethindrone acetate 1 mg).For some time I felt better and the cycles were normal but few months back I started menstruating before the steroid pills are over and sometimes between the cycles.I consulted another gynecologist who ordered few test(testosterone,DHEA-S,blood glucose and insulin levels,C-peptide,free t4,17 hydroxy progesterone) and an pelvic ultrasound..All the tests were normal except for the DHEA-S which was slightly raised(369..normal upto 340).But what worries me is that I had a right ovarian cyst of 6.5 by 4.7 cms.the cyst was not multiseptate and with homogenous echogenicity. As I was taking the OC pills so this can't be a functional cyst,I suppose.I have an appointment with the doc in the last week of this month.I'm very much worried.I got married last year and taking OC pills since then. What can this be.can it be a malignancy.CA-125 was not done.Do I need a laproscopy or just wait for a few months a see if it resolves. Is it possible that the cyst might undergo torsion or burst...Please help me.I'm very much worried and tensed. Thanks in advance.
Answer Recheck the cyst after a period. If it still persists and seems benign, it may resolve with certain tablets like provera .It is unlikely to be malignant, so don't worry. Rupture or torsion of the cyst are not very common, so with adequate treatment , you should be fine. It could be an endometriotic cyst or a simple serous cyst, which can reduce with medication.

Question, I am a 21 year old woman. For about a year I have been getting a very heavy white vaginal discharge. It was not itchy, no smell but uncomfortable because of amount. A few months ago, it became itchy and I was tested by my GP. He gave me a prescription for thrush pessary, which I used. Itching stopped, but I still need to pass urine often and it stings slightly when I do. The main concern is that I now have a clear, jelly-like discharge which comes in clumps. It has no smell and does not irritate me, but is not nice. I have had it before, but have no idea what it is. What is it and what could be causing it? It seems nothing like thrush.
Thanks

Answer "Clear, jelly-like disharge "is probably the increase in cervical mucus which occurs around ovulation. However, you can do a vaginal swab to determine the type of infection- fungal, bacterial or trichomonial and take adequate treatment.

Question, Hi. I asked a question about clear-jelly like vaginal discharge today. Just forgot to mention that although there is no itching, there is quite a lot of tenderness in the vaginAnswer Could this be connected? I have had pain during sex before, but have not had sex for about six months.
Answer As I mentioned earlier, a vaginal swab would help.At the same time your gynec can examine you to see if there is any other reason for the pain like a vaginal cyst or a cervical erosion.

Question, Hi,Doctor,I am 5 months old pregnant they just foud out that the baby has a second degree heart bloked,is that bad? Should i have something to worry about, will this go away,if not will the baby be fine inside of me or after birth?
Answer Please send me the full report, so I can advice you accordingly. Are there any other congenital anomalies? Is the growth of the baby normal ? Please send me the heart findings, specially , in detail.

Question, I am a 17 year old female and I had a baby about 7 months ago. Recently I have discovered, a small red bump on my vagina that has a small tear follwoing after it. It is sore and sometimes it itches. I also have had a lot of discharge and it hurts to pee at times. What could this be?
Answer There could be vulval infection secondary to a vaginal infection or a skin abscess. See a gynec. who can determine the cause and give appropriate treatment.

Question, i'm 18 yrs old and i have been on the birth conrtol shot depo for the past 6 months. the first three months my period was normal...the next three after my second shot i had aconstant bleeding which my doctor said was normal but it should stop after my next shot...well i got the next shot and the bleedind has stopped for the most part occassionally there is still spotting, but now i am really itchy in my vaginal areAnswer i also haven't had sex for the past 4 months...what could be the cause of this itching?
Answer Irregular bleeding is common after a "depo shot".You probably have some vulval infection. Use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days. If the itching still persists, see a gynec who can examine you for vaginal infection and give you adequate treatment.

Question, Im 28 yrs old, married. I have my period last july 26,2003, my next would be august 26.My period is always regular. It's been 2 weeks that I dont have my period. I only have white discharge. Is it a sign that im pregnant? I have taken a pregnancy test and its negative.I just notice that Im always hungry, im bloated, I do sleep a lot.please advise, im confused. It would be my first baby if ever.thank you in advance
Answer Repeat the urine test if you haven't yet got a period. In case you had conceived late, it would now be positive. If you want to be absolutely certain, you can do a blood test- beta hcg to determine whether you are pregnant. If that is negative, take duphaston tablets - one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. Also, do an ultrasound after your period to determine whether there is any problem with your uterus and ovaries .The symptoms of hunger, bloatedness can occur even pre-period and during a pregnancy.

Question, How many days after conception can a home pregnacy test detect a positive result? I've been using the Answer test which states that you can test 3 days before your period.
Answer The urine test should come positive 15 days after conception. Usually in a 30 day cycle , one would ovulate on day 15 of the cycle, so it would be positive on the 30th day after the last period. However, if you ovulate earlier - say on day 12 , it would be positive on the 27th day of the previous cycle- i.e 3 days before your period date. It is always advisable to do the test on day 30 & if negative, repeat it a week later. This will take care of any delayed ovulation(and conception) that may have occured.

Question, i'm 15 and two weeks ago i devoloped a sort of rash on my vaginAnswer I first noticed it when i had my period and i thought it was because of my pad rubbing up agianst it. After my period stopped, it didn't go away and got worse. It started to flake and then it started to burn. It doens't burn when i urinate though. I'm a virgin but i want to know incase i passed it to my boyfriend in some way. I am afriad of asking my mom about it, and i don't want to go to a gyno because the one i will go to is a man, and i don't feel comfortable with it.
thanks

Answer You can use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days. If your itching persists or you have any vaginal discharge, see a doctor who can give you further treatment.

Question, Recently I saw a news clip on channel 15 in New Orleans about an alternate treatment for fibroid cysts in the uterous. I would love to keep mine but they are becoming larger and more irritable. Anyway, I can't seem to find any other reference to it on the internet and I have no idea even what the procedure name is. That's what I'd like to know. It was described as some sort of belt they strap on you at the doctors office and it does some ultrasonic thing and eliminates the cysts. If you know or have heard of anything like this can you please first let me know the name of the procedure so I can more effectivly search for a doctor who provides it. Thanks,
Answer What you are referring to is probably the ultrasonic treatment of fibroids. This treatment is still new ,so the success rate and chances of recurrence are difficult to assess. You can find the information on - www.mayo.edu/comm/mcr/news-2229.html. Since this procedure may not be available everywhere, you can discuss with your gynec. regarding treatment with decapeptyl or zoladex injections or even inserting the mirena IUD . These are other non-surgical treatment options

Question, At the hospital last night they discovered my left ovary is bigger than normal. They said they could find nothing else wrong. They ran all kinds of tests. Is a large ovary enough to cause severe pain. What causes a ovary to grow beyond its normal size? please help if you can. Thank You,
Answer If your ovary is bigger , but without a cyst you don't need to worry. Do let me know the size of both the ovaries and whether there is any cyst in the larger ovary, so I can advice you further.

Question, I recently went to the doctor for pain in my lower abdomen. I thought that I might be pregnant and took a hpt, which came up negative. As well I thought I might have a bladder infection. I just went to the doctor and I asked them to also do a pregnancy test, it also came up negative. I have not started my period yet and I am a day late so far. Can bacteria in the urine cause a hpt test or doctors office preg. test to be negative? Also I have some feminine itching. If I use something like Vagisil it seems to work throughout the day, but at night and in the morning is when I notice the itching. With regard to my bladder infection the doctor gave me Zithromax and prescibed that I take four all at once, kind of like a "Zpac" to fight off any possible STD infection...he also gave me some medication to take one a day for seven days, as well as suggested to either drink cranberry juice or take the tablets which is what I have been doing because I'm not very fond of Cranberry juice. Please let me know about the possible false negative test results for pregnancy as well as what you think might be causing the itchiness on the inner part of my vaginAnswer THank you in advance for your response.
Answer Bacteria will not affect the urine test for pregnancy. However, any infection or treatment with oral antibiotics or stress may delay your period. If it is 15 days since the chance of conception, you can do a blood test- beta hcg to confirm a pregnancy. If this is negative, take duphaston tablets -one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. Also do an ultrasound to rule out any cause of a delayed period like an ovarian cyst. Do you have any vaginal disharge or cervical erosion ? That maybe the cause of your problem . See a gynec who can examine your cervix and do a vaginal swab to determine the type of infection you have and give appropriate treatment.

Question, My last menstral period started on August 5, 2003. My cycle was a 28 day cycle while I was on the pill. After that cycle I quit taking the pill because my husband and I are trying to get pregnant. It is September 10, 2003 and I still haven't gotten my period. I am also haveing what I think are early signs of pregnancy. (sore, tender nipples, low back pain, missed period, and lower abdominal cramping) Home pregnancy tests are still coming up negative. My nipples were sore starting from August 29, 2003. Could I be pregnant and it's still to early to tell? or are these also symptoms from stopping the pill? With my last pregnancy i also had sore tender nipples but none of the other symptoms. If it may be to early to tell if I am pregnanct(if I ovulated at the end of the the month) when can I test that it will come up positive? Missed period on Sept 2, 2003. Thank you for your time.
Answer Repeat the urine test 15 days after ovulation. If this is still negative ,do a blood test- beta hcg to confirm a pregnancy. If this is negative, take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. The soreness of the nipples maybe due to breast congestion that can occur pre-period or even if you are pregnat. Since you ovulated at the end of the august, your urine test should be positive by mid- september.

Question, I HAVE BEEN OFF OF BIRTH CONTOL FOR 15 MONTHS NOW AND HAVE NOT HAD MY PERIOD. I STILL GET SOME CRAMPING AND SHARP PAINS. IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG. WHY HAS MY PERIOD STOPPED COMING?
Answer You should have got a period within 1-2 months of stopping the pill. You must see a gynec who can do an ultraound on you and certain hormone tests like FSH, LH, PROLACTIN., THYROID TESTS to find the cause of your absence of periods. You have not mentioned your age , so it is difficult to determine whether this maybe early menopause or not.

Question, PLEASE HELP ME!!! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET RID OF MY INFECTION. I HAVE SEEN 3 DIFFERENT GYNECOLOGIST AND EVERYONE IS TELLING ME THE SAME. I HAVE HAD BACTERIAL INFECTION FOR ALMOST 2 AND A HALF YRS. I HAD IT TIL I GOT PREGNANT LAST FEBRUARY. THEN IT CAME BACK IN JUNE. IT'S DISGUSTING!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!! IM ONLY 22
Answer You must do a vaginal swab and send it for culture and sensitivity to find the right antibiotic for your infection. Also, do you have a cervical erosion? If yes, then cryosurgery for that might help to prevent recurrent vaginal discharge.

Question, I was wondering if it was possible to skip my period for a month by not taking my sugar pills. I am on the birth control pill orthotricyclen. I was told that i if I do this I will not get my period for that month. Also by doing this does this increase my risk of getting pregnant if I am having sexual intercourse.
Answer Your sugar pills are inert pills- i.e they do not have any hormone. However, even if you don't take those, you would get a period.Since you would have taken the other pills, you would not get pregnant. You would get your period earlier, since you have omitted the last few pills.

Question, im 46 years old and i weigh 110 kilos,i suffer from severe pain in the pelvic area immediately after urinating but not every time,it happens once every two months, can you please tell me what i have! thank you.
Answer Do an ultrasound to rule out a fibroid or an ovarian cyst. Also, do a urine test for infection and take adequate treatment as required. Drink plenty of fluids to prevent recurrent infection.

Question, I have Polyscystic Kidney Disease, and I have been having a lot of pain in my right side more then the left. I can't lay on that side at all, and sometimes it just ackes for no reason. I have not bumped it or pressed up on it. I am in a lot of pain.
Answer You have not mentioned where your pain is . Is it in the upper abdomen in the region of the kidneys or in the lower abdomen ? Let me know , so I can advice you regarding the further investigations and treatment you might require.

Question, Every 13 days from the first day of my period I get an infection. I kept a log in my calender for 1 year. The infection I get is always around the same time of the month. I went to a gyn for help and she said I tested pos for strep b and that there is nothing she could do about it. She gave me cleocin cream. When I tried to refill for the next month she said no that there is nothing that will help. I have had these infections for probly about 17 years and I can't take it anymore. Do you think it could be hormonal since it is every month, same time? Please help nobody seems to care.
Answer You can do a vaginal swab and culture to find the cuse of the infection and the appropriate treatment. Let me know the results. Also, do you have a cervical erosion ? If yes, then cryosurgery treatment may help to prevent the recurrent vaginal discharge.

Question, i have been with my partner for a year now, we have a 10 week old baby, and i have just been diagnosed with chylidia, is it possible that i had it during pregnancy or more likely that i have got it after the birth?
Answer It is difficult to say when you may have got the infection without knowing whether you had any vaginal disharge during your pregnany or not. Anyway, chlamydial infection is treatable, so take the adequate treatment and you should be fine.

Question, About three months ago, I started a new birth control pill. The first month I had a regular period and the second month on the pill my period lasted a month. My doctor adviced me to quit taking the pill and I did. However my period as not come and that was nearly a month ago since I quit taking the pill. What do I need to do and why did my period last a month while I was on the pill.
Answer Do a urine test for pregnancy. If it is negative, take duphaston tablets - one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. You may have got bleeding while on the pill if you had forgotten a few pills. Or the pill given to you may have been a very low-dose pill and your body requires a higher dose. Do let me know the names of both the pills taken and I can advice you accordingly.

Question, Hello doc, i am TTC #1, i have been diagnosed with PCOS but have normal hormone levels. Only prolactin slightly high for which i am on proctinal 1.25mg twice daily. my gyn prescribed Siphene 50 mg(1st time) in this cycle from cd 2-6. follicular monitoring showed a dominant follicle of 18mm on cd 12, when i got one shot of profasi.Another u/s on cd 14 revealed follicular rupture and endo size was 8 mm. now she has pres. duphaston from cd 16. my questions are:
1. does duphaston help in conception, as last time i also ovulated(u/s diagnosis) but did not conceive and had my periods after 3 days of stopping duphaston?
2. duphaston was given to me earlier also for regulating my periods before marriage, does it have contraceptive effects??
3. what are my chances of conception this cycle?

Answer Duphaston takes care of any progestational deficiency you might have and helps to continue a pregnancy which may have occured. Duphaston does NOT have any contraceptive effect. Since you have ovulated, your chances of conception are good. However, if you don't conceive within the next 2-3 months , do a PCT and IUI if required. Also, is your husband's semen normal?

Question, dear doctor, i am still breastfeeding my 11month son and would like to know whether i can take primolut-n to delay my periods? and if so, how should i should i take it?
Answer Any of the tablets you use to delay the period may affect your lactation. You should try and avoid any tablets , but if you have to take them , take duphaston tablets twice a day from one week prior to your expected period till you wish to delay the period.

Question, I have infertility and am planning on taking letrozole and having HMG injections in order to try and conceive. But try naturally instead of IUI with the aid of medicine.

However, my husband has been taking ponstan and brufen for 2 months. I would like to know :
1 : When would it be safe to try for a baby, or does the NSAID's not affect the sperm quality at all?
2: It was suggested that we wait 3 months as it recycles itself

Answer NSAIDs are not known to affect the sperm quality. If his count and motility are normal, you can go ahead.

Question, I am 24, I have a 7 year old daughter and am trying to concieve with my husband. Right now I am about 2 weeks late on my period and have taken 3 pregnancy tests and they all have turned out negitive. Is there still a possibility that i may be pregnant or is there anything that you can suggest? I have forgotten to mention that i have been extremely fatigued, had light cramping that comes and goes, nauesa, constipation, aching in my lower back and hips that comes and goes, and an aching sensation in my legs(thighs) that does not allow me to get comfortable.
Answer You can do a blood test- beta hcg which will rule out a pregnancy. There maybe a chance of a delayed conception or an ectopic pregnancy and the blood test would help. If the tests is negative, take duphaston - one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. If your symptoms persist even after the period , see a doctor.

Question, I had my period on July 1st and then I it on my B-day July 27th. So I had it twice in one month. It used to come around the end of the month or the 20th.But for August I have not recieved my period and I'm worried if i was pregnant but i took three tests and they where negative? What is wrong with me?
Answer You might get a period in the first week of September. If not, do a blood test-( beta - hcg) to rule out a pregnancy. See a gynec. who can do an ultrasound to rule out any cause of the irregular periods like an ovarian cyst. Sometimes, stress, travel , infections can cause period irregularities. If the problem persists , you may need to do certain hormone tests of thyroid or prolactin.

Question, I am 21 years old. I had a daughter 2 years ago and I want to have another one down the road. I have been having abnormal papsmears with anything from low grade lessions and high grade lessions...from dysplesia of the cervix. I have had a LEEP done, freezing of the cells and laser ablation surgury. I want to know if I can still have a child normally, thru vaginal birth. And is there anything I can take to clear the cells from coming back as abnormal? Thanks
Answer The condition of your cervix and the treatment taken are unlikey to affect your chances of a vaginal delivery. Repeat the smear every 6 months to make sure there have not been any more changes which require treatment again.

Question, hi I am 15 years old and I have really bad period pains my doctor has given me ponstan tablets but that does not work in the first day. Will I have to see a gynaecologist? what will he do at a consultation? Will it hurt I also have a whittish discharge. Thankyou for listening to me.
Answer You can try cataflam tablets- one tablet twice a day for your period pain. This is common - so don't worry. If your pain is still severe you can see a gynec. who will do an ultrasound to see that you don't have any problem like a fibroid or an ovarian cyst. You may need oral tablets for your vaginal discharge, so you need to see a gynec. for that. You probably have fungal infection.

Question, hello doctor!i m 20 years old and was having normal periods according to me.but some months ago i had twice found white and redish fluid coming out instead of blood but after that i got normal periods ...i m having acne problem from one year i want it to be confirmed by u whether my menstrual cycle is all right or should a go to the doctor here are my periods dates of this year untill now
13th jan________19thjan
15th feb________21thfeb
18th march______24thmarch
18th April______24th april
14thmay_________20thmay
8thjune________14thjune
1stjuly_________7thjuly
31stjuly________6th august
thanx bye

Answer Your periods till April were acceptable- 5-6 days early. After that your periods are almost 10-15 days early , which is not normal. See a gynec who can do an ultrasound to rule out a fibroid or an ovarian cyst. Alos, you may require some hormone tests like thyroid tests or prolactin. An abnormality in these may also cause frquent periods.

Question, My daughter is 13 and she has had a dark brown discahrge comming out of her but then after that there are no signs of her starting her period do you know what this could be from?
Answer Is this brown discharge only during her expected date of the period or is it between her periods also ? Do let me know , so I can answer accordingly.

Question, I have recently been informed that i have an ovarian cyst. I have had many problems with this such has, lots and lots of pain.should i been in this much pain?
I also just started my period a month after i started having the pain. Is it okay for me to wear tampons? What should i continue doing about the pain? Is an ovarian cyst dangerous?

Answer Do let me know the size of the cyst and also whether any medication has been given for it . Also, if this cyst was seen in the middle of the cycle, repeat the scan just after a period and you may find there that the cyst has disappeared. The pain is likely to be due to the cyst. If the cyst is present even after a period , repeat the scan 2 months later to see whether it is increasing or not and take appropriate treatment. Is it an endometriotic cyst? These cysts are known to cause severe pain and may require medication or surgery.

Question, I am 20 years old and lately I have been noticing that my breast are tender and are leaking. I am not pregnant. Is this normal for them to leak? What is causing this? And what can I do to make them stop leaking? Thanks!
Answer Do you have milk secretion from the breasts ? If yes , you need to check your prolactin hormone . If high, you need to take tablets like parlodel or dostinex.

Question, I recently had a baby (3 months ago), I had my first period since then last month, this month I started spotting (brown) for about an hour, and then it stopped. I have had intercourse with my husband, but we used a condom. I took a home pregnancy test after 4 days of missing my cycle...it was negative. Is this normal...or should I be concerned ?
Answer Irregular periods are quite common during breast- feeding. However, you may ovulate even while breast -feeding , so you need to use contraception. Condoms, have a high failure rate, so it would be more advisable to use a pill or an IUCD (" loop ").

Question, Hi. I am 19yrs old and I am a virgin. I have been having irregular periods for about 2yrs now. they come sometimes every month like i am normal... and then it gets to a while where i dont see my period for like 6months. Please doctor what do you think is wrong with me? What should I do? the last time i saw my peroid this year was in february. and it seemed well as i saw my period in december, january and february. I have been stressed for a while do you think that is what is affecting my period? My stomach makes loud sounds when I am hungry but I dont know if it has anything to do with my period. I heard the pill makes your period regular, what do you hink I should do? Go on the pill? Please help me soon
Answer You should do certain blood tests like FSH, LH, THYROID TESTS & PROLACTIN to find the cause of your irregular periods. Also do an ultrasound which will help determine whether you have PCO (Polycystic ovarian syndrome ) or an ovarian cyst , which also cause irregular periods. If everything is normal, you can take tablets like duphaston from the 20th day of your cycle twice a day for 5 days to regularise your periods. These will have less side-effects than the pill. However, once you stop the tablets( duphaston or pills ) , you may get irregular periods again.

Question, I have been married for seven months and we are now trying to cocieve a baby. I get regular periods but sometimes they are delayed by a few days. I have pain in stomach on the sides while i have them with back pain. This time my periods were regular and finished in 7 days, I had intercourse but I have started to bleed again with pains on the sides of stomach, is this normal, have my periods returned or did i damage something during the intercourse. Please reply! I have been bleeding for 3 days.
Answer Period pain is very common as also delayed periods by a few days. However, if you are planning to conceive, your ovulation might be delayed. You should do a "clear plan" test to determine your most fertile period. Regarding your bleeding after intercourse, there could have been some injury or there might be some vaginal or cervical infection. If it persists, see a gynec . who can treat it .

Question, I HAVE BEEN HAVING A PERIOD FOR 5 WEEKS NOW BEEN TO GP WHO HAS PRESCRIBED ME DICYNONE 500 MG WHAT ARE THESE?AND WHAT DO YOU THINK COULD BE WRONG? I AM 30 YEARS OLD
Answer Dicynone will stop the bleeding . However, you should do an ultrasound to rule out any problem in the uterus or the ovaries (like a fibroid or an ovarian cyst) which maybe giving you this problem . Also, I presume you have done a urine test for pregnancy as sometimes , you can be pregnant and have bleeding (threatened abortion or an ectopic pregnancy).

Question, i am 31 yrs old with two kids 12 and 7 .i have been off the pill for almost a year . i was diagnosed with a hormonal inbalance couple years ago now he has found that i may have ovarian cysts and we have schedule an ultrasound for next month. in the mean time i feel nausous and have no appetite and my breast still produce milk not alot but some ,since i can feel when they fill.i have done pregenancy test which are negative and now my period has started to come irregular.please advise.
Answer The milk production could be due to a high Prolactin hormone. Check that, and if high, take appropriate treatment like parlodel , dopergin or dostinex. A high prolactin hormone is also associated with irregular periods.

Question, iam 5 weeks pregnant, iam 44 years old, i went to the g.p today, my concern is he checked to see if iam pregnant and said he is going to write a letter to nhs and they will send me a letter in (2-3weeks) to say when i have an appointment with them, no tests where done, being the age iam i would have thougt there would be blood tests or something? this is my second pregnantcy and i had 1 misscarridge, so iam worried, please tell me what i should do and who i should see. thank you
Answer Anytime after 6 weeks, an ultrasound will show the fetal heart beat. If no pregnancy is seen within the uterus, a blood test would be required to check the level of the pregnancy hormone(beta - hcg). After 3-4 days this test would be repeated to se whether the level is rising or falling. If it is rising and a repeat ultrasound does not show a pregnancy, an ectopic pregnancy can be suspected. If the level is falling , it could be a missed abortion. (miscarriage). In view of your past history, some doctors might give you certain medication to prevent another miscarriage. You would probably have to find some obstetrician who does that. Also, check for toxoplasmosis infection.

Question, I am aged 34 with two kids. Before the onset of my period, I get irritated, have wild mood swings, headache, stomach pain, etc. I am having acute constipation regularly, have falling hair, scanty menses, daytime sleepiness. I did an Ultrascan and the report says I am having fat infiltration of the liver. SGPT 50 U/L. My bloodtest shows low haemoglobin. My Oestrogen 31.86 pg/mL - Foll.Phase 18-147, Pre-Ovl.Peak 93-573, Lut.Phase 43-214, Menopausal <58. What is your diagnosis and what other tests I have to perform.
Answer The irritation, mood swings, pain are part of PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome ) . These are more in some women and more in some cycles. Unfortunately , nothing much can be done about it.(Though some vitamins and mood elevators may help at times). You and your family members should understand that these changes occur. You have sent me your estrogen levels, but not mentioned which phase of the cycle you were (what day of your period the test was done ).As you have seen , the value is different on different days of the cycle. What is the result of the ultrasound of the uterus and ovaries ?

Question, I am 28 years old, my husband is 31. We have been married for 9 years. We have 1 child who was born 9 years ago, have been trying for another for 8 years. I lost twins in my 4th month of pregnancy 8 years ago. Then We have been trying faithfull everymonth to try to concieve. for years. IN 1999, I started seeing a fertility specialist and he found a cyst on my right ovary that was the size of a Large Grapfruit. He had to preform surgery and remove the cyst as well as my right ovary and my right fallopian tube. The Dr. said it was a Dermoid cyst. I literally lost 11lbs 9 ounces following the surgery seeing I ripped my stiched 4 days after surgery and they had to weight me.
The doctor had us wait 3 months and then we started Insemination. We did 2 of them. During this time the Dr. said my follicle count in month 1 was 3 in ovary L and then in month 2 it was 6 follicles. He wouldn't prescribe me any fertility drugs he sad I didnt need them. He did say my husband Sperm count was 11,000 he said it was a low normal and that it was Slow in mobility. We wernt able to contiue with Fertility treatment cause, husband lost job at the time.
We never gave up on trying to coneive and I did get pregnant again in September 2002 but lost it in October 2002.
I am over weight. but have had regular periods 5 days on and 23 days off, MY periods are normally heavy and dark. Except for the last few months. I have been having weird periods. if at all. I been testing every month since March 2003 and every month it has been negative. AS of June 2003 I didnt have a period at all. On JUly 19th I had alittle of browness spotting it wasnt normal at all. and it only last 15 minutes and it was only when I whiped. Then I spotted again on July 30th Bright red blood, again only when I whiped for 15 minutes in the bathroom. Still no normal period and HPT have been negative still.
I am slightly worried seeing both my Mother and Grandmother have had Full hysterectomies. MY mom had hers at 35.
1. Can you give me an idea whats going on? LIke does this sound like another CYst coming back?
2. Can you recomend what I can do to speed up my chances on conceiving another baby?

Answer Check your husband's semen count again. Since it was low last time, he might require some treatment. Depending on the result, I can advice you whether you can continue IUI (insemination ) or you require IVF-ICSI ("test - tube baby"). You must do an ultrasound again to see if there is a cyst , as the irregular periods maybe because of that. Also, you have not mentioned whether your fallopian tubes have been recently tested (after the last miscarriage) Do let me know the result of that , too.

Question, I have been having irregular periods rightfrom the age I started menstruating. I have undergone laproscopy, 3 times curretine, tests to see that my tubes are not blocked and harmonal treatment since I got married at theage of 24 taking different types of medicines like fertomid, overal -g et c; Iam 41 now. Ido not have any kids. I had stopped going to the doctors for conceiving because I was fed up with the treatment since last 7-8 years. MY PERIODS DID NOT COME FOR ALMOST 18 -20 MONTHS.aAfter that I started spotting. I would get the clots once in full day but throughout the month.Like that I suffered for 3-4 months. On contacting my gynaecologist he again suggested a series of test and put me tablet duphaston. If I stop using it my problem starts again. My gynaec says that Ihave to take this throughout my life or have my uterus removed. I have been taking this since last 3-4 years. My periods come on time and last for 4-5 days if tabs are taken. But everyday!
u keep hearing different things on HRT i.e. it is not safe for a longer period of time. Pl let me know the advantages and disadvantages of taking this drug. and also suggest me about my condition.

Answer Do let me know your serum FSH level and your ultrasound report of the uterus and ovaries (specially the endometrial thickness ), and breast examination findings. Also, is there any family history of breast or endometrial cancer ? Certain HRT tablets are safe , if taken in the right group of patients so don't worry. Let me know , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, Hi there, I have been on many birth control pills and they seem to work for a few months and then the heavy bleeding and spotting start again. Today is August 2nd and i have been bleeding since June 16th, not heavy, but bleeding, I have asked my doctor to check my hormone levels, but he doesn't feel it is necessary, he just keeps trying different birth control pills, he also tried me on the depo shot, that stopped my bleeding for 33 days, then it started again and I haven't stopped. he has not done any tests on me at all, I am going to see a new doc at the ebd of this month, I was just wondering if maybe you could give me a little help as to what could be wrong with me? Thank you!
Answer Does your ultrasound show the presence of a fibroid? The size of the fibroid could have been increased by the pills. Fibroids are known to cause heavy periods. Also, your thyroid hormones must be checked. If your doctor is reluctant to do that , you must see someone else for that. Make sure you are off the pill for three weeks before you do the test. Also, check your hemoglobin to make sure you are not anaemic.

Question, I was notified by my ob-gyn that my pap came back with endometrial cells on my cervix. What exactly does this mean & what would the next step be?
Answer Is it endometrial cells or endocervical cells ? Let me know the full report in detail, so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, My husband and I have been trying to have a child for the past 8 months without success. He is 32 and I am 28. He had a semen analysis done in which he had 59 mill/ml count and 65% motility. His morphology was 70% abnormal sperms. Please advise what this means and if there is a problem with the morphology, what can be done to overcome same. Please help.
Answer Unfortunately, nothing much can be done for the abnormal sperms. But since his count and motility are good, you should conceive. Try six cycles of IUI and if that doesn't work, you can try ICSI ( "test tube baby ").

Answer Sorry, I do not know of any IVF clinic in Bangalore. I am sure there are many good ones. Check with your relatives or friends living there and they would know.

Question, I had a baby approximately 4 mos ago. Since then, I have a pain when I squat and urinate. It feels like pressure or a pushing sensation in my vagina behind the pubic area and near the clitoris. I also have a burning under the skin in the pubic region. Secondly, I have these bumps that are filled with pus in my pubic area that will not go away. They have been there in the same spot for about a year. It use to be uncomfortable but now I do not feel them at all. I have gotten 4 opinions from doctors and all of them said that it looks like an infected hair follicle. What should I do about these problems?
Answer Regarding your pubic pain, you can try calcium tablets for 15 days. Your infected hair follicle might require antibiotics to clear up the infection completely , so that you don't get them so frquently.

Question, Hello doctor, i am 25, married for last 8 months, we are trying to concieve. I have been diagnosed with polycyctic ovaries bt i get my periods(atleast 9-10 in a year), my hormonal levels are fine although prolactin is a lil high being 29.02, for which i got an MRI done too( safe side). i got my periods last on 8th July 2003 and my doctor asked me to take Duphaston from day 16 i.e 23rd July and if i havent conceived this cycle, follicular monitoring in the next. My question is can i ovulate while taking duphaston and get pregnant?will it harm the feotus??? if i dont get pregnant this cycle, what else can i do to increase my chances??
Answer Polycystic ovaries are present in 25 % of women, so don't worry. Duphaston is a progesterone. It does not help to ovulate, only to maintain your progesterone level and regularise your cycles. Have you done a "clear plan" test to check when you are ovulating ? That would help determine the most fertile period. Anyway, follicular monitoring is the best way to know when you are ovulating. You may need to take tablets like parlodel or dopergin for your high prolactin level, as that may also interfere with conceiving.

Question, i have cervical errosion and have done for the last year, will this reduce my chance of getting pregnant?
Answer You can do cryosurgery for your erosion and that sometimes help to conceive.

Question, Hi doctor,I'm 21 and i recently gave birth by caesarian to my first daughter....but unfortunately i'v gained too much weight as i had to lay down throughout my painful pregnancy, how soon can i start excersising and what type of exercises? And how long do i have to wait before trying for another baby,as my blood type is negative as well!
Answer Usually, you can start excercising 45 days after a Caesarian, depending on the type of excescise and whether you had any complications( like infection of the wound ,) . You must avoid a pregnancy for 2 years after a cesarian. You could discuss with your gynec. regarding contraception ( pills or "loop") and she can show you the excercises suitable to you. You must also take care of your diet- avoid sweets, chocolates, ice-creams and fried food. Until you are breast- feeding, you cannot go on a very strict diet.

Question, 5 days ago I had cryosurgery on my cervix. The procedure was very painful and my gynocologist stopped mid-way into it. I was sore "inside" for about 8 hours, my cramping has been mild but still continues, is this normal? Also, this morning I passed bloody tissue, could signify a complication? Any info would be helpful.
Answer Usually, cryosurgery is not very painful. Was your cervix high and difficult to hold or was there a lot of bleeding and therfore the procedure was stopped? The blood clot you passed was probably what had remained in the vagina after the procedure. Do let me know the details so I can advice you further.

Question, I am 28yrs old having irregular cycles. Previously I was missing periods but now I am getting it twice a month. Unfortunately, I couldn't stick with one doctor for long due to their vacation trips or non-availability. Presently, this is my 3rd doctor who took blood test on 2nd day of the cycle. The results were: FSH - 5.71(normal range- 3.9 to 12), LH - 4.01(normal-1.5 to 8), TSH- 2.327(normal-0.5 to 4.5 ). My Prolactin level was high when my previous doctor have checked me.And I was taking Parlodel in small dosages to bring it to normal. My present doctor has given me 2tabs of Dostinex(0.5mg)to be taken once in a week. I have finished this course. Also she has prescribed Gynera (1 night)for 21 days from D5 to D26. This course will get finished on July 19th.I am also asked to take Glucophage(500mg)(1-0-1). I am finding it very difficult to have Glucophage since I am vomitting continously. Doctor has said that I am having polycystic ovary. I would like to know whether intake of glucophage is very important for me to get conceived? Does having a polycystic ovary prevent one being pregnant? What are the remedies for curing these cysts? I am asked to take Clomid (50mg) 2tabs in night from D2-D6.Do I have to undergo Scan during this medication? My husband had his semen test done. He is given Sandoz & Selenium. What's this for since we haven't yet received his sperm report? Please help.
Answer Your FSH, LH and thryoid hormones are normal. If you are planning to conceive, you would have to continue Parlodel so that your prolactin remains within normal limits. Glucophage does help in PCO , but if you are vomitting, you need not take it. It helps , but is not essential in all cases. Polycysctic ovaries are present in around 25 % of women and there is no "cure " . It is asscociated with irregular periods and anovulation ( absence of eggs ), but with the right medication you should conceive. You must always do a scan while on clomid.- check with your gynec when. Sandoz is the name of the company and not the drug, so let me know the drug's name and your husband's semen count , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, Hi, I'm 31 years old and currently getting ready to start my ivf shared-donor cycle. I started taking birth control pills about 4 wks ago, I started spotting after about 1 ½ wk on the pill then about 2 ½ wks later I started light-medium flow bleeding. At the time my period was due I had heavy period with cloths like a regular period. I'm to start my lupron in about 2 days. Is the abnormal bleeding(not spotting) normal and will it interfere with my chances of success or follicle production with ivf? Thanks!
Answer Spotting is quite common while on this medication. Also, if you had forgotten a pill or had a variation in the timing, spotting is more likely. However, that will not affect your follicle production, so don't worry. All the best !

Question, Hello again,
I wrote to you a month or so ago telling you about the pain on my right side and water infections after my hysterectomy.I paid for a private consultation to see my gyny and he agreed to take my right ovary out even though he said it might not be the problem.I had this done on Friday by key hole surgery and was told my ovary was stuck to the pelvis. He said he had to make a bigger hole one side to get it out because it was the size of a plum(i thought they were the size of a walnut so does this mean my ovary was inlarged? If so why would this be?)As for the water problems my doctor thinks i may have interstitial cystitis and i am now waiting for a cystoscopy. Why do you think i was left to suffer so long;is my case so unusual.

Answer Do let me know the findings of your laparoscopy ( key-hole surgery ) , so I can advice you accordingly. The ovary is enlarged. I presume it has been removed. Do let me know the HP (histopathological ) report . Regarding your cystitis, the cystoscopy would help to diagnose the cause of the problem .

Question, Back in November I had LEEP surgery for abnormal cells on my cervix. I tested positive for HPV. In March I had another pap done and tested negative for HPV, but still had some abnormal cells. I take a continuous birth control pill to control my heavy periods. So, I have recently become sexually active with my boyfriend and have been experiencing yeast infections. He has been checked for everything and is clean. The other night we had sex and the next day I got my period heavily. I just recently had my period two weeks ago, so this is strange. It isn't spotting because it is just like my heavy periods. I am wondering if the yeast infections and bleeding between periods might be a result of the continuous pill use? or Do you think I have an infection?? or might my body be in shock in some way from not having sex in so long, or ever really on a regular basis? Thank you.
Answer The bleeding between periods could be due to some cervical infection. If you had forgotten the pill, it could be because of that. If you continue to bleed while on the pill, you probably need to change the pill to one of a higher dose. Also, do you have a fibroid or an ovarian cyst ? Any of these may also cause iregular bleeding.

Question, hi, im alomst 17 years old, i have my period regularly but for the past year or two i have a white discharge coming out onto my underwear. it started out slow and stops sometimes but it happens everyday. what is it? a yeast infection?
Answer If the discharge is curdy, it is probably a yeast infection. You can contact your gynec and use some oral anti-fungal tablets. If you have been sexually active, you could also use some anti-fungal vaginal pessaries.

Question, My spouse and myself have been trying to concieve for the past 2 years. Of recent she has been seeing her menstrual period and its been lasting an average of 25 days. Prior to this, she had very irregular periods (at times, she does not see her period in months). Please i would like to know what can be the cause and how you can help us to achieve conception.
Answer Since she has irregular heavy periods, she must see a gynec who can do certain blood tests and an ultrasound to find the cause. She may have PCO and appropriate medication can be given to regularise her periods , as well as helping you'll to conceive.

Question, Hello,
I married recently. But my wife has very small breast or I can say she dosn't have it.Its flat.Because of that we are not so enjoying. We discussed each other and even she feels bad that she dosnt have. She ,as well as me want to increase her breast size upto normal size. Please help is there any way to increase it? Waiting for reply. Thank you very much

Answer I don't think you'll should worry so much about the size of the breasts. The size varies in different people and you should be more understanding about it and not make her conscious about it. The size can be only increased by plastic surgery ( only to some extent ).

Question, Im 17 years old and I have been experiencing itchiness in and around my vaginAnswer There is also a white semi clumpy discharge, but not a lot. I thought it was a yeast infection although after i treated it as one, it did not go away. I also noticed lately that there are scabs forming on my skin under my pubic hair. Lately i have noticed that my vagina becomes increasingly itchy towards the evening. I am also a virgin so i do not think this could be an STD. I have tried to research what it could be on the internet but i haven't found an answer. Please help me find an answer!
Answer Yeast infection can recur. See a gynec who can give you another anti-fungal treatment. Regarding the scabs, they maybe some infection of the hair follicles. Use a cream like bactroban twice a day for 5 days. If it does not settle, show them to your gynec also. You might need oral antibiotics for that. To prevent further infection, wear cotton underwear, change it twice a day and avoid swimming for some time.Yeast infection can recur. See a gynec who can give you another anti-fungal treatment. Question, I lately thought I had a yeast infection and so I bought the Mycelex the one day treatment and well at first it hurt then symptoms subsided but now I have a yellow like dishcharge and can't understand what it could be. I haven't had sex in a long while so I know it isn't anything like that. Can you help me?
Answer If the dicharge settled initially, it probably responded to the mycelex. However, since you have infection again you may have some other infection - bacterial or trichomonial. See a gynec who can do a vaginal swab and determine the type of infection. Both you and your partner might need some oral anti-fungal treatment.

Question, have been having a burning sensation all around my labia for about a week now and it seems to come intermitently and then ease off again. I thought it might be a urinary infection but I get the burning pain even when I have not been to the toilet. Please advise.
Answer Is there any itching or are there any "boils" or redness ? Do let me know , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, I am 25yrs old and i am 6 months and 2 weeks pregnant, whenever i have sex with my partner i usually have this white discharge, it does not not hurt or itch. It is just appears after sex, surprisingly after sex the other my partner said he was burning when he went to use the bathroom and that it was because of the discharge i was having. I am very scare, please advise me on what teh problem is , Do i have and infection or is this something regular during pregnancy this is my first pregnany and we are currently out of town so i can not get to a doctor. Your timely response will be well appreciated. Please advise.
Answer You probably have a fungal infection, which will also cause the itching for your husband. You can use gyno-pevaryl vaginal pessaries- 150 mgms - one each night for 3 nights. Avoid intercouse while using them. For your husband , he can use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days to reduce the itching. Fungal infection is common in pregnancy and may recur.

Question, Its been 2 years since my marrige.I am 26 yrs old and my husband is 29 and I have been trying to get pregnant from last 1 year though i have a periods every month but fiactuate 2- 3 days sooner aur later........somtimes i have pain in my lower abdomen......i had done my ultra sound done,in that there were multiple folicles in my overies but after 2 months i again did the ultra sound that time report was normal and that time was my ovulation time.......but till now no positive results.......my gaynec says that there is nothing to worry at all and she also asked me to done my husbands semon test to be done(can u tell me how this test to be done).......and pls help me out of it that what to do and how will I get pregnant
Answer You need to get a semen container. Your husband should collect the semen by masturbation after 5 days of abstinence. The semen should reach the lab. within 30 to 45 minutes. If you are ovulating without any medication, you can use clear plan to determine the best time of conceiving. If you don't conceive within 2-3 months have your fallopian tubes tested by hysterosalpingography ( which can be done without anaesthesia in a clinic ).. Do let me know the results of the semen , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question, Hi i have a 10yr old daughter and i am 32yrs. 8months ago i had a stillbirth at 23 weeks due to ListeriAnswer We waited for six months and got pg only to miscarry at 8weeks no heartbeat in ultrasound...after stillbirth I had a normaol paptest and many normal blood work....
Do you see any link between stillbirth and miscariage??? I had an evacuation done a week ago since it was a missed abortion. When to try again??? what can I do to prevent another miscariage??? any athor test you suggest to have done???? Thanks !

Answer Listeria can cause both abortion and stillbirth. Once you have been treated for it, you can try again. However, there maybe some other reason for the abortion , so check with your obstetrician and carry out the necessary tests before planning a pregnancy. (Some of these tests like toxoplasmosis, thyroid hormones, blood sugar may have been done in your blood work-up ).

Question, I am 29 years unmarried woman. I suffered from an irregularity of period problem. Two years ago I consulted a gynecologist and had ultrasound and Thyroid test. Ultra sound reported polysystic right ovary, and thyroid test reported TSH is more than normal. I started to take thyronorm 100 along with vitamin. Then the interval of two consecutive periods reduced from 3 months to 1.5 months. But last I have my period on 6th april and after that no period till now. I have a boyfriend and we have sex but no intercourse, it is oral sex. my height is 5'4" and weight is 64 Kgs Please advice
Answer Irregular periods are known to occur in women with plycystic ovaries. You don't need to worry about it. Since your cycle length has reduced, tht's fine . If you are not planning to conceive , you are fine if you get normal periods every 45 days. If you want a period every month, you can take duphaston tablets - one tablet twice a day for 5 days on your 32 nd day . You should try to lose around 2-3 kilos to reach your ideal body weight. That may also help to regularise your periods to some extent.

Question, Hello, I am 28,
2 years ago during Fertility treatments the doctor discovered that I had Dermoid Cyst, that they removed with 2 months. The Cyst was very large He said it was Small Canalope size. It had taken over my right ovary & right fallopian tube. Ofcourse the demage was to great that The doctor had to remove both my right ovary and my right fallopian tube.
Before this surgery, My periods where every 23 days and they would last for 5 days ( 3DAYS HEAVY and 2 days light) During these periods I had horrible cramps, dark bloood and large blood clots (fist size).
Following the surgery, my period became lighter and hardly any cramps and very little blood clots.
I monitor my periods very carefully and make sure to keep track, seeing we are still trying to conceive.
Now, I am 17 days late, Yesterday I had horrible cramps which actually had me sweating & panting they where so bad, I spotted very lightly( not enough to put a pad on, but enough to make me wonder what this brownish pastee discharge was but nothing since.
I been dizzy lately, fatigue, my feet are swollen, have bad headaches, I do have cramps on my left side, but mostly if I do to much and my blood pressure is elivated or higher then usual its 152/92 which is high for my normal(126/84) I have taken 4 home pregnancy tests the first one was NEgative. the last 3 had a very faint line in the positive side, very faint line.
Can you give me an idea of what going on?

Answer Do a blood test for beta hcg to determine your "pregnancy hormone " level. If a positive value is obtained, do an ultrasound to see whether a sac is present within the uterus. If no sac is seen, repeat the test 4 days later to determine whether it is rising or falling. Your gynec will advice you accordingly after the results whether you have an ectopic pregnancy or an intrauterine pregnancy. The periods are lighter and less painful because your cyst was removed , so don't worry about that. Your symptoms mybe due to an ectopic pregnancy and even due to the high blood pressure. Recheck your pressure and take adequate treatment.

Question, hi, im 18 yrs old and im still a virgin. ive been having these secreations which are light brown id like to know whats up with that. and should i see a gynec?? thanks
Answer Are the secretions only around mid-cycle for a day ? Then it could be ovulation bleeding. If it is throughout the cycle it could be a vaginal infection or slight spotting . See a gynec .

Question, i am thinking on having my 5th cesarian section how dangerous is it. is it anymore dangerouse than my last pregnancy
Answer The danger during a cesarian depends on whether the previous uterine scar healed well or not and whether there were any comlications during the previous surgery. If there were none, you should be fine. The obstetrician who did your last surgery would be able to determine the danger.

Question, Hi, i m a software professional. Me and my girlfriend are having sex for the past 2 years. Last month she didnt get her bleeding properly. She went with her parents to meet a gynecologist. The Gyno has asked her to take a pelvic test. Is there any possibility for the gyno to know that she s not a virgin? she is her family gyno, so we dont want her to know about this. please reply as soon as possible...
Answer By examining the hymen , a gynec would know that she is not a virgin ( as the hymen will be broken ) .

Question, I am 32 years old and trying to conceive from last two months.I have fungal infection in the vagina and am undergoing treatment with pills for the same.will I be able to conceive immediately after the treatment or will it take somemore time. Also my monthly bleeding lasts for two and a half days.
Answer You can conceive once your treatment is completed. Check on ultrasound when you are ovulating and whether you have any other problems. You could also do the clear-plan test to determine the best time to conceive.

Question, I am 34 years married , having 4 children in 5 years my last birth was at 10th of may i stopeed breastfeeding at june , started gracial to prevent getting pregnant , but I had margrane since i was 13 and i haven't had it during the last 10 years .
i suffer from it now since i used gracaial . this is my first birthcontrol method

Answer Unfortunately , all pills may give you migraine. You can try a pill called "yasmin" . If that also gives the same problem, you should consider the IUCD ( "loop") . There is a 2-3 % failure rate with the loop, but that would be your second best option.

Question, My husband and I have been trying to conceive for the past 8 months. I have recently been to my gynaecologist for an ultrasound. He said that my womb is facing an abnormal position. What could be the course of this? Will this affect my chances of falling pregnant?
Answer An abnormal position of the womb rarely interferes with getting pregnant. Check whether you are ovulating or not by doing a clear plan method or by ultrasound . Also check your husband's semen. If you are not ovulating, you may need to take some tablets like clomid. The dose, however, should be adviced by a gynec. and ultrasound should be done while on clomid to determine the best time of ovulation and to observe that there are no complications like cyst formation.

Question, i have just started the pill and i am on the first 7 day break. i started my period straight away but it is brown and looks sticky so that it doesn't go into the pad. is this normal or is something wrong?
Answer You may get scanty periods with the pill. How was the period ? Did it remain scanty or did it later increase? If it remains very scanty for the next 2-3 cycles, you may change your pill and see if that improves the bleeding.

Question, I had my baby on 7th June 2003 and it was a C-section. My query is whether i can exercise and if so, what type of exercises are safer?
Answer You can excercise now. You can walk for 20-30 minutes everyday and do some abdominal excercises. Your gynec should be able to show you the excercises.

Question, I had menses last month on 24th may, after that i had sexual contact with my BF, my mensus has not yet started, If iam pregnant how to know it? What tablet should I take for Abortion immediately and continue my Menses cycle.
Mail me as soon as possible.

Answer You must do a urine test like clear blue ( from a pharmacy ) to determine whether you are pregnant. If you are, see a gynec.

Question, Recently I had my first pap smear in 5 years. I was called with the results and found out that I had a abnormal pap which resulted in a colposcopy with a biopsy to take off a leasion which was found. After I had my biopsy I was told to call back a week later only to find out that I have severe dysplasia, which is leading into a hospital visit for a cone biopsy on the 16th. I am scared to death and have a huge fear of cancer. I am a 32 year old married women with 4 children but it still does not make my fear any less. What are they looking for by doing the cone biopsy? What is the worst case scenrio if they do not get all the abnormalities from the cone biopsy? I understand that there are different stages of dysplesia and I happen to have severe...what is the treatment for such and is there a chance that I may already have cancer in the other parts of my uterus? And if so what are the chances of it spreading to other parts of my body? Thank you for your help ! in taking the time to answer my questions and to hopefully put my mind at ease!
Answer Since the dysplasia is severe , you maybe adviced a cone biopsy. However, when the tissue from the cone biopsy will be examined , you will know the extent of the dysplasiAnswer Dysplasia does not mean cancer - so don't worry !! Just wait for the biopsy report and let me know.

Question, Hi doctor,I'm 21 and I had a healthy daughter who's 4 now...but unfortunatelly my blood group is negative, and since i've been trying for a pregnancy....non was succesful! After my daughter i misscarried once at 3 months, then again at just one month......and now im lost ,,,please help me....how long should i wait ,inorder to try again, and what tests or medicine can i take?
Answer Is your husband's blood group positive ? Did you take anti-D injection after your delivery (if your daughter has a positive blood group ) ? If you did take anti-d, the reason for your miscarriages is unlikely to be due to your blood group. Of course you must try again. However, see a gynec who can do certain blood tests like thyroid, blood sugar, toxoplasmosis before you plan the pregnancy, to try and find the cause of the miscarriages.

Question, My wife does not like to have sex very often, but i like it almost every alterante days. And most of the time I have premature ejaculation. How can my wife cooperate me and vice versAnswer Please help

Answer If it is not increasing in size, you need not worry. If it is increasing in size , see a gynec who can determine the cause of the " spot ".

Question, Lately I have had a large amount of fluids coming from my vagina -way more than the usual. Its always a large ammount and I usually have to change underwear and my pants because it always goes through. Its usually a yellowish color substance and sometimes has an odor after awhile. What can this be caused from and what can I do to stop or lessen the fluid?
Answer You probably have a vaginal or cervical infection . See a gynec. who can do a vaginal smear to determine the type of infection you have ( bacterial , fungal or trichomonial ) and give you the appropriate treatment.

Question, I'm 24 and my husband is 28. I got of ortho tri-cyclene the 1st of February, because we're trying to have a baby. I started birth control when I was fifteen, but before that my periods were very irregular. While I was on the pill, I knew what day I would start, I could even tell you what hour I would start. Since I have been off the pill I have only had one period (the week of May 11). I was afraid this was going to happen. What's going on? Should I see my doctor?
Answer Once you are off the pill , you should get regular periods within 2-3 months. Since you had a period in May, you probably had delayed ovulation. If your periods are now regular, do a clear plan test to check when you are ovulating and plan intercourse accordingly. If , however, your periods are still delayed, see a gynec who can give you clomid tablets to help you ovulate, and can do an ultrasound to determine when you are ovulating. You should get pregnant soon , so don't worry !

Question, I have been on clomid for six months. The sixth month my doctor also prescribed me progestrone. I am taking progestrone as soon I ovulated. now i am late with my period. My question is can progestrone stop or delay your period. please respond soon
Answer Depending on what date of the period you ovulated and how many days you took duphaston, you could delay your period. You should do a pregnancy test if you have not had a period for one week after stopping duphaston.

Question, Hello, Doctor! I just recently had surgery to remove an ectopic pregnancy. Finding out I was pregnant was quite a shock to me, since, I just had a tubal ligation 5 months ago. I found out that I was pregnant while I was in the hospital for which I thought was a gall bladder problem. I was having severe pain under my right rib cage thaat radiated to and through to my back and up to my shoulder blade. I was extremely nauseated and was "belching" frequently. If I ate anything, it was like a volcaqno coming back up. For about two weeks [rior to going to the hospital, I kept having periods of time when I felt like I was going to pass out, my heart would start to race, and I would break out into a sweat. My right leg also became edematous, for which (before my doctor, nor I new that I was pregnant and while waiting for blood tests to be done), I was treated with Lasix. To me these symptoms are very strange, and I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see the surgical pitures myself. Can you explain why I was having these Sx. Particaularly, the RUQ pain, and the RLE swelling. These interest me. And, also, could you tell me how I got pregnant in the first placce since I was (and still am) fixed! I am confused! Thank you so much.
Answer There is a very small chance of a pregnancy after tubal ligation. By which method was the ligation done ? Let me know, so I can explain why the failure occured and also what additional precautions or treatment you would require . All the symptoms you had are related to an ectopic pregnancy. Also let me know whether the tube had ruptured or was intact at the time of surgery.

Question, Hi, I have been having really bad abdominal pain since I was 13. I am now 17 and will be 18 soon. I lost my virginity this year in Febuary so I don't think that I have an std. I need some advice as to what kind of doctor I need to see or what kind of tests can be run to figure out what is wrong. I also have frequent headaches and my periods are irregular and have been since I was 14 years old, but my mom would never take me to the doctor. I also would like to know if stds can be passed when fingering and if so which ones and how often does that happen? oh one more thing is that I am scheduled for my first pap smear and I would like to know if there are any precautions that I should take prior to having my pap smear.
Answer Regarding your abdominal pain, do a pelvic ultrasound (by a gynec ) to determine the cause . Also, if you have upper abdominal pain, you should do an abdominal ultrasound (by a radiologist ) to see if the liver, gall bladder, pancreas and kidneys are normal. .Blood tests and a vaginal swab can be done to determine whether you have any STD .From one week prior to your Pap , you should avoid any vaginal douche or pessaries .

Question, could you get 5 to 10 days after seeing your period. Because i did some resources and find out that a person get pregnant during ovulating period which is 14 days before you see your period so i had unprotected sex for the first time 5days after my period and now 22 day after my period and my breast is hurting a bit and my stomach looks high.
Answer The day of ovulation varies from person to person and also in different cycles in the same person. One gets a period usually 15 days after ovulation. So, in a 28 day cycle one would ovulate on day 14 , but in a 22 day cycle one would ovulate on day 8 . You can do a urine test like clear blue to determine whether you are pregnant. If you have irregular periods and do not wish to be pregnant now, the rhythm (or "safe period ") method would be unreliable . You should see a gynec. who can advice you regarding contraceptive methods like pills or the IUCD ( "loop ").

Question, I've noticed a small bump (about the size of a pimple) on the edge of my left nipple. I, at first, thought it was a pimple and tried to "pop it". Some white stuff (it wasn't liquidy, more solid looking) came out but the bump didn't go down and is still there. I don't remember when this bump arrived since I just looked one day and it was there. I've heard about calcium build-ups but I'm not sure if this is one or how I could tell. I had an abortion last year at 6 weeks along and I was wondering if this could be a calcium bulidup that never went away from my milk ducts filling? If not, what else could this be? Should I be concerned about this little bump?
Answer It probably was some dried up milk (following your abortion ) , but you should see a gynec who can confirm that and rule out any other cause. If there is milk production again, do a blood test - prolactin (which causes milk production ). If this is high , you would require some tablets for that.

Question, I am about 7 weeks pregnant and about a week ago starting experiencing a tan - light brown discharge. I had light cramping and called my doctor. I had blood work done and was able to determine that my hcg levels were progressing normally and I also had a ultrsound done and that came back fine. What could this be and should I be worried?
Answer The bleeding could be due to the uterus contracting or due to an infection of the cervix or vaginAnswer If you are in Oman , you can see me . If not, let me know where you are , so I can advice some medication accordingly. Did the ultrasound show any fibroid or hemorrhage (bleeding )?

Question, I am a 32 year old woman. Last September I found out I was pregnant. However, I started bleeding around my 7th week. I went to my doctor and had an ultrasound. There was a heartbeat. We were ectasic and were told that there was a less than 2% chance of having a miscarriage. Sadly, I miscarried a few days later. It has been very hard. My husband and I are planning on trying again in a couple of months. I am absolutely terrified! I have been reading a lot about miscarriages and since it is rare to have one after the heartbeat is detected, I was wondering if I could have antiphospholipid syndrome? I know that it is not common to test for miscarriage reasons until after you have three. It just sounds like my risk might be higher for something that may be preventable- not a chromosomal reason. I don't think I could handle going through this again. Thank you!
Answer You should see a gynec who can determine the possible cause of your miscarriage. Do blood tests - toxoplasmosis, thyroid tests, blood sugar. If it is phosholipid syndrome, an abortion can be prevented by asprin in a low dose. See a gynec . in the cycle you plan a pregnancy , so that adequate treatment can be given. Some doctors also give certain hormones which help in the growth of the baby. Don't worry, with adequate treatment , a recurrence is rare , unless due to a chromosomal problem .

Question, Hi, I'm 15 years old and i've been very worried about the way my vagina looks.Within my 'lips' there are what looks to be another longer set of lips that hangs out from my 'lips' and i really dont want to go to a gyno to check into this because im really embarressed of telling my mom. Please help and let me know if this is normal.
Answer What you are seeing are the labia majora (on the outside ) and the labia minora ( on the inside ) . These are normal - so don't worry. If you find an unusual swelling in any of these , then see a doctor.

Question, Hi, I've already asked you a question but i have another one. Well, for maybe the past year or two i've had this problem peeing. Im usually in the bathroom for 5-10 minutes trying to pee. In the beginning the pee usually comes out reguarly but towards the end i usually have to push to get the rest out and sometimes after that it feels like i haven't got it all out so i have to go again. It really bugs me and my family and also my doctor can't come up with a reason for this and i've had a few tests done. Can you please help.
Answer I presume you have done a urine test for culture ans sensitivity to rule out any urinary infection. Secondly, have an ultrasound done to rule out any mass in the uterus or ovaries which maybe pressing on the bladder and giving you the problem. If all these are normal, you must see a urologist who can determine the cause of your problem and treat you accordingly.

Question, hi doctor, I am 24 yrs old ,my hubby is 26 yrs old, I got maried 2 years back. I have been trying hard to conceive since the last 2 years . Never took any family planning pills, we have been doing unprotective sex for 2 yrs. Recently i visited the GYN in my town texas USA , So far my blood test, pap test everything is normal. I am 5 4" in height, 108lbs. AM i underweight is that one reason why i havent conceive. I can send u my pic if necessary. Am desperate to have a kid. Sometimes during intercourse it hurts i guess my plevis. And i have had regular periods always. i have even used the ovulation test to know the right time , but still i have never conceived why please help me , do reply me soon.oh yes after my periods like 1 week i do get allot of discharges at times mostly pale white , but today i had little yellow and i guess greenish what should i do help me please.
Answer Relax !! You can start some vitamins with folic acid . This will take care of any vitamin deficiency because of being underweight. Otherwise, that does not affect your chances of conception. Since you are ovulating ,follow the ovulation test to determine the best time of conceiving. Also, has your husband's semen been done ? Do let me know the report. If you haven't conceived in the next 2-3 months - you can do certain blood tests like prolactin and for the thyroid gland. An abnormality of these can be corrected by medication and that would help you conceive. If these tests are normal, then do a hysterosalpingography or a laparoscopy to check that your tubes are normal. Regarding your discharge, it maybe a vaginal infection, so see your gynec for the appropriate treatment. You'll are both young, so relax mentally and you should get pregnant soon !!

Question, In 1999, i had a abortion, and thought i wouldn't be able to get pregnant again, because i tried. Now im 11 day's late on my period, and i've took 3 home pregancy tests, which all came back negative. My period's have always not been on time either. Am i pregnant? Or am i worrying to much and not making my period come?? Please respond ASAP!
Answer If you haven't got a period by now, do a blood test- beta hcg . This will determine whether you are pregnant or not. If that is negative, you can take duphaston tablets - one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. Stress will also delay your periods- so relax. Regarding your irregular periods you can see a gynec who can do certain blood tests and ultrasound to find the cause .

Question, The last two times i have got off my period i have been having a vaginal discharge that has an odor it is alot of discharge too it is real thick i was wondering if you could tell me what could be causing this? thanx
Answer You probably have a fungal vaginal infection. You can try canesten vaginal pessaries - one at night for 6 nights. If that does not solve the problem, see a gynec . who can do a vaginal smear and determine the type of infection you have and treat you accordingly.

Question, I had episiotomy while delivering the baby 8 months ago. I'm still having pain during intercourse. My doctor said that it was a scar that caused the pain and suggested surgery. I don't want to do the surgery and would like to ask are there any other treatments other than that. I use plenty of lubrication but that doesn't help. By the way, I'm still breasfeeding. Thank you.
Answer The scar maybe giving you the pain ( because of fibrosis of the tisssues ) and it may take some time to reduce. If you are in Oman , see me , so I can determine the severity of the scar tissue and give some medication which may help reduce the pain.

Question, i just had laparoscopic surgery for endometrioma and endometriosis. for post op, i have to take gynerAnswer pls advice abt its effects on acne and cancer. is there a better continuous pill that i can take with the least effect on acne and cancer, if in case it has these effects?thanks
Answer Gynera should be fine. However, monitor the lining of the uterus by doing an ultrasound every 3 months. Also, have your breasts examined at the same time. These will rule out any cancer. The chances of cancer are very small. Regarding acne , this will vary from person to person. If you find a problem with gynera, you can try gracial or yasmin. Please consult your gynec . before changing any medication.

Question, My period is usually pretty regular every month and right before my period I get irratable, have lower back pains, cramps, and a light discharge (I usually take it as a warning to my period starting). I am about a week late, but I have been having light sympotoms that it has been going to start for a week. About 2 weeks ago I got my first pap, so I could get on the pill. I have been a lil stressed and very actice in the last 2 weeks... do you think soemthing could be wrong?
Answer All your symptoms are part of PMS( pre-menstrual syndrome ) and occurs in most women. If your symptoms are affecting your daily routine , see a gynec .Sometimes, the period is delayed due to various causes . If the periods continue to be irregular , see a gynec who can determine the cause and give you appropriate treatment.

Question, I was wondering whether taking primolut-N to delay my periods once or twice a year would be okay. I heard that these kinds of drugs can alter hormones and are unhealthy in some way.
Answer It would always be better to consult a gynec before you take the primolut as the correct timing and dosage can be determined. Besides, being a hormone, it can affect your periods and can cause some problems if you continue to take it while you are pregnant.

Question, Dear doctor I have had every test in the book, trying to find the reason why I have not conceive, I have been trying for about two years. Now I found this web site that offer these products, to aid in getting pregnant. I got this cream(progestrone)and futility blend nutritional support. Do these things really work?
Answer The products you mentioned are only required in some cases. You should see a gynec specialising in infertility to determine the exact cause of your problem and treat you accordingly. Have you done a PCT ? Are your tubes normal ? What is your husband's semen count ? Let me know, then I can advice you accordingly.

Question, For about a year now I have had an urinary tract infection off and on. I finally had it checked out and it is cured now. During that time I had pains in my abdomin, high and low down. I thought this pain was part of my infection but it has continued. It occurs whenever I am sexually aroused, but now it is happening more often and not just when I'm arroused. I've been to gyno, had my first pap smear (just turned twenty) and then had a swab test. Swab test came back as normal, for what I don't know. Doesn't seem right to me as my discharge is chalky, milky, and creamy as the gyno described it. I don't know what is causing it. I haven't had intercourse with my husband for over a month and a half now. I'm tired of the pains and the discharge. Do you have any ideas what it is, what is causing it or how I can fix this? Also I am on the pill Mycrogen 30, started it about year ago too, could this be the cause? Let me know of any theories you might have. Thank you.
Answer If you still have the discharge you described, it is most probably a fungal infection. You can use canesten pessaries for 6 nights. If it still does not disappear see a gynec who can repeat the smear & do a culture & sensitivity of the vaginal discharge also. Both you & your partner might require some oral tablets also. The pill may cause a high blood sugar in some patients, & this might cause recurrent infections. Check your blood sugar. Also, check for chlamydial infection & take treatment accordingly. Have you done an ultrasound to check for any fibroids or an ovarian cyst? These might cause abdominal pains.

Question, The last 2 or 3 days i've been having a Itich in my viginAnswerits been worring me and i'm scared. U have any idea what it could be.
Answer Is your itching outside on the vulva or inside in the vagina ? If it is outside, you can use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days. If the itching persists, see a gynec who can check your vagina & cervix & determine what type of infection you have & treat you accordingly.

Question, i am 16 and i have been having irregular periods ( like sometimes i miss a month) they started 4 and half yrs ago. i m scared i want to know wht the reasons can be? is it serious? will it affect me in my future?
Answer Stop worrying !! Do an ultrasound to check your uterus & ovaries. Also, do hormone tests- FSH, LH, PROLACTIN, THYROID TESTS on day 2 or 3 of your period. If all these tests are normal, your periods might get regular in another 1-2 years. If not, see a gynec or an endocrinologist

Question, Is it possible that an IUD can cause trichomoiasis vaginosis? I have been with my partner since late Jan. and he has only been with me, I had the IUD put in the Oct. prior. The IUD has caused me an infection I didn't realise I had, is it possible that it went untreated and caused this? My doctor told me it needs to be removed.
Answer Both you & your partner can take oral tablets for trichomoniasis ( a gynec can prescribe the appropriate treatment). Also, do you have any other vaginal or cervical infection ? A vaginal swab can diagnose that. If there is no other infection & the trichomoniasis is cured, you need not remove the IUCD.

Question, I had a partial hysterectomy 6 yrs. ago due to cervical cancer. A friend told me that my ovaries are still producing eggs. I was wondering if I could have some eggs removed so that me and my boyfriend can conceive a child that would be ours through a surrogate mother?
Answer Yes, you could undergo IVF through a surrogate mother.

Question, I'm a 31 year old mother of three, my youngest is 11 mo. I am on the pill and my periods have been on time and normal, but this month I started spotting in the second week of my pill pack, it's mostly light but at one time it did get a bit heavier. This has been going on for a week now. I'm also very tired and just don't feel like myself latly. I haven't missed any pills maybe one day but I took it right away the next morning,(which has happened before and everything was fine) Anyway could you tell me what could cause this and should I have any concerns?
Answer Sometimes, if you forget a pill you may have spotting. Try to take the pill at the same time everyday also. If this problem recurs even when you are taking the pill regularly, see a gynec who can do an ultrasound & check whether you have a fibroid in the uterus or an ovarian cyst. These may cause some menstrual abnormalities. Also, a vaginal examination will reveal if you have any infection in the cervix or vagina responsible for the spotting. If the problem persists , you could change the pill .

Question, if the husband has vericose problem, is there any chance of conceiving.is surgery necessary
Answer Do let me know his semen count, motility, & number of abnormal sperms. If all these are within normal limits, surgery is not required & you should conceive.

Question, I am 33 years, married with a 7 year old child.we have been trying for another child for the past two years.my periods are regular and i am ovulating around 13 thday of the cycle also.we have undergone all type of tests and every thing went out to be normal.i have checked my tubes last month.my gynae did hysterosonogram iinstead of hysterosalpingogram.she has suggested that if there is any block in the tubes itwill be cleared by doing this.i want to know whether i should do hysterosalpingography again to check the tubes?pls help me.thank you
Answer You should do a PCT (post - coital test ) which would determine whether the sperms are staying alive in the cervix or not. If the PCT is abnormal , you could try IUI (intra-uerine insemination ). A hysteroslpingography is more accurate than a hysterosonography for tubes testing. However, you can try IUI for 3-4 cycles & then do an HSG if you have not yet conceived.

Question, I am 30 years old, and desperately want a baby with my husband. He has low testerone levels, and said that if he starts taking the testerone shots, he will have to stay on them for the rest of his life. Is this true? The shots are very painful as the serum is thick. My questions are: Does Viagra only help with "performanace" and not "desire"? My husband has already had one shot, and I can't see any difference, how many treatments until his level is where it needs to be? My final question is, will we ever have a normal sex life again, I am so depressed over this and have almost given up my dream of having a child.
Answer Why is your husband taking testosterone injections ? Does he have problems with erection or penetration ? Is his blood sugar normal ? You should relax & make him less conscious of his problem , as worrying about it will worsen the situation. You can still get pregnant even if intercourse is a problem You can try insemination (your husband's semen can be put in your uterus ) & you can conceive. I'm sure once the stress of conceiving is taken care of, you'll will be able to have normal sexual relations, provided there is no other major cause for the problem . Viagra can only take care of "performance ".

Question, I am taking birth control and was supposed to start my period ysterday. Four days ago I started spotting the brownish colored discharge. Then, two days ago while I was in the shower, a large glob of blood and some kind of lining or something came out. What is going on--could I be pregnant? Or what could this be caused from. My boyfriend and I are very careful--we use a condom as well as the pill. Email is the best way to reach me. Thanks.
Answer You must do a urine test for pregnancy , as you could be bleeding during pregnancy. ( if you have forgotten the pill or had diarrhea or vomitting immediately after the pill, the pill may not have been effective ) . If the urine test is negative,do an ultrasound to check whether there is any fibroid in the uterus or an ovarian cyst which may sometimes give heavy periods

Question, I am journalist from IndiAnswer I have a few questions for you. If you can give me your email id I shall write to you about the questions I have
Answer You can send your questions through this site. Your name or e-mail address is not disclosed, so don't worry about privacy .

Question, i have been diognosed with mild endometriosis hyperplasia which i have researched on the web so i now know quite a bit about it.This has lead me to believe i should have a hysterectomy as i am sterilised anyway and i believe it would be in my best intrest. My question is this, i have been having a pinky, brownish jellyfied substance that i have been having since i was sterilised along with it comes this realy foul smell and i feel like i have an infection also. could this be anything to do with the endometriosis hyperplasia and if it is,is it anything to worry about
Answer Do you have endometriosis or endometrial hyperplasia ? These are different . ( You have mentioned you have endometriosis hyperplasia ) . Also , let me know your symptoms & why you wish to do a hysterectomy. Has a D&C been done & the material sent for histopathological analysis ? What is the result ? Also, let me know the ultrasound findings & I will advice you accordingly.

Question, I am a 19 yr. old female and I've never done anything sexual with anyone. I have a small bump in the hair of my virgina- the outer part. It is very small and doesn't bother me. Ocassionally it will itch. What should I do? Is it nothing to worry about
Answer It maybe an infection in the hair follicle. You can use baycuten ointment twice a day for 5 days & see if it reduces. If not, see a gynec who can examine you & give you the appropriate treatment.

Question, I am 35 year old female. I have one son aged 9 years. I now wish to have a second child. My periods are regular but they last for 2 days only. Will this affect chances of conception or the pregnancy if I conceive. Please let me know
Answer The length of your period will not affect the chances of conceiving. However, if the scanty periods are due to any hormonal problems like thyroid disorders, or due to an ovarian cyst, those might need treatment to help you conceive.

Question, how do i know 4 sure if im preg...i went 2 the doctor twice and they said i wasnt and nothings wrong...i havent had a period since aug 17 02...ive gained 20lbs,had 8 anxiaty attacks in 3 weeks, migrans, dizzy, tierd, cant eat, muscle twitches in my tummy, and 4 3 dayz iv had a huge pain like a bruise at the top of my tummy and pushing feelings...what could b wrong w/ me???
Answer You should do certain hormone tests like FSH, LH, PROLACTIN & THYROID TESTS to determine the cause of the irregular periods. If these are normal, do an ultrasound to rule out PCO or an ovarian cyst. You must also see a dietician who can help you lose weight. This will also help to regularise your periods. In the meantime , if you haven't got your period, take duphaston tablets - one tablet twice a day for 5 days .

Question, Can you have your period during a Pregnancy? ~your answer will help me!!!
Answer You can have bleeding during pregnancy. Do a urine test for pregnancy to find out & if positive see a gynec who can do an ultrasound & tell you about the condition of the pregnancy. ( A threatened or missed abortion or an ectopic pregnancy can give bleeding during pregnancy ).

Question, Hi, doc. I am a diabetic and been experiencing signs of pregnancy for the last two months. With my first son, I got pregnant in September and did not get a positive blood test until December!! I've had an ultrasound done now, because I have been experiencing excrutiating pain in my lower left pelvic/pubic areAnswer But my doctor insists if it were a tubal, I would have a positive blood test. I know from experience and have read this is not always true. What do you think? I am scared, my blood sugars go up shortly have changes in my insulin, and I am hurting. My urine has been checked and it is ok, no infections. I had a pelvic and there is a mass on my left tube, but they don't know what it is. They said the cervix looks good and there are no signs of infection anywhere. My so called periods have been spotty for 4-5 days, just like they were the first 3 months with my first son. Should I be worried or wait? Please advise.
Answer The sensitive urine tests like clear blue or a blood test for hcg will be positive 15 days after conception. If you have irregular cycles , try & remember the last date of possible conception & do a blood test 15 days later. If this is negative , you are unlikely to be pregnant. Do let me know the details of the mass as sometimes there can be a " chronic ectopic pregnancy " & the urine test or blood test may now be negative.

Question, I have seen the website as interesting I found that it offers the free advices from the specialist doctors.

I'm an Indian, live and work in Saudi ArabiAnswer I'm writing this letter for my wife who is 27-year old and weighs 50.7kg. We have a son of 2-year old. The delivery was normal. She came to me three months before only to stay here.

Her problem is of her menstruation. She says that she has excessive bleeding for 5 to 6 days. Before her arrival to here, she did not have this much bleeding. Her period started on 30/06/2003 and her last period started on 02/05/2003. She says that the duration between periods are almost normal. We consulted a gynaecologist on 01/07/2003 and she was prescribed Marvelon tablets for 21 days with one tablet daily. She complains that she feels dizziness and she has fatigue also. Before starting the period she feels itching in her vagina and she suffers mild pain in her breasts for a few days after completing menstruation period also.

Answer Has she done an ultrasound of the pelvis ? There could be a fibroid in the uterus giving the heavy period. Check her hemoglobin. If this is below 11 gms% she should take some iron tablets like fefol - one daily for one month. This would reduce the fatigue & dizziness. If the hemoglobin is 9 or below then let me know as she may require a higher dose of iron. Breast pain before the period is normal . If it is persisting even after the period , see a doctor who can rule out any problem with the breasts. For the itching she can use travocort ointment twice a day for 5 days. Stop worrying !!

Please suggest me doctor.I am feeling pain and pulling sensation in my legs since few days its effecting my sleep at night.I will be anxiously waiting for your reply.
Answer Bushra, sorry I could not answer you earlier as I was on leave & have received this question on 13 th August.. Hope you are fine now with the medicines I just gave you.

Question, I am 43 years old. I have been bleeding for 35 days now. First it was heavy, now its just light throughout day, can use one pad all day. Sometimes its yellow, red or brown. I am concerned its cancer. I have been on levlen for irregular periods is this the cause of bleeding. Please help
Answer Have you forgotten the levlen ? If you have, that could be the cause of the bleeding. Do an ultrasound to check for fibroids in the uterus & the thickness of the lining of the uterus. If there is no abnormality, you need not worry. Take cyclokapron tablets- one tablet three times a day for 5 days to stop the bleeding. Do a Pap smear to rule out cancer . If the bleeding persists & the ultrasound is normal , do thyroid function tests as an abnormality in the hormones may give heavy prolonged bleeding. Do let me know the results of the tests & ultrasound. Stop worrying !!

Question, after I stopped taking the pill my menstral cycle/flow has changed. The first couple of days it is very light and brownish/red in colour. on the second or third day it becomes red. Is this normal? Can if affect my chances of conceiving?
thnaks

Answer There maybe some variation in the cycles for 1-2 months after stopping the pill. However, your chances of conceiving are not affeceted. Do an ultrasound to make sure you do not have an ovarian cyst. If the problem persists after 2-3 months, let me know & I can advice you accordingly

Question, March 2002 I had my appendix out and stopped taking birth control. We decided that we would start a family. May of 2003 we still were not pregnant and I decided that I would start the pill agin to help "lessen" period bleeding. I had a regular cycle, I think, May 9th-11th, the period was very light because we had unprotected sex on the 10th. I began a new pack of pills on the 11th, on the 28th I realized that I had missed a pill so on the 29th I doubled up. That was the last of me taking pills since the pack was almost to the green period pills I figured what ever. I did spot on the 28th, but I figured it was because I messed up with the pills. So here it is July 4th and I still have not had a period! I took a home test June 29th that was negative. I'll take another on this Sunday the 6th of July. What could be the problem? Could I actually be pregnant. We have continued to have unprotected sex all of this time
Answer If you are wishing to get pregnant , why are you on the pill ? There are other medications to reduce your period bleeding which don't affect your chances of conception.I presume by now your periods have settled . Do a " clear plan " test every month to determine when you are ovulating & you can have timed intercourse accordingly. If you are not pregnant 2-3 months from now , see a gynec who can do an ultrasound to assesss your ovulation & treat you accordingly.

Question, i just had my 3rd baby april 3rd 2003 and had my tubes tied.i am 37 years old.i have not had my period yet.i also had a c-section.should i be concerned about this?do i need to get a shot to get it started?
Answer You have not mentioned whether you are breast-feeding or not. If you are, you may not get a period till you are lactating or you may get irregular periods. If you are not lactating, take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get your period.

Question, My doctor found out in my 8th month through doppler test that I had placental insufficiency, oligohydraminos and severe IUGR and had 23 week baby in my 33rdweek. 6th month u/s showed normal reports. So my doc advised me to terminate my pregnancy as the baby would not be normal and I accepted her advise. Now, I went through all kind of tests like TORCH, Thyroid test, APA test and other small tests..all came out negative. I did nothing or didn't take anything to have caused it. I'm otherwise a perfectly healthy women who don't have any sort of medical problems. Pls tell me what could be the reason of this placental insufficiency? What other tests should I take to find the cause. If I get pregnant what should I do if such thing happen again?
Pls provide me some solution for this nightmare..I would be very grateful to u.

Answer If you are in Oman , you can come & see me with all your reports & we can discuss the plan of further treatment. My phone no. is 563181 & you can take an appointment. Question, I am 35 and have 2 kids that are older. Is it normal to have gray / green discharge from the nipples?
Answer The greenish discharge is not normal . It could be due to inflammation of the breast ducts or due to fibrocystic disease of the breast. You must see a gynec or a surgeon who can give you the appropriate treatment after determining the cause.

Question, I have had irregular periods for awhile now. At 18 I went to my gynecologist and was told it was quite normal. However for the past year i have had a normal period, that has been off by a few days each month. I took the morning after pill about 3 months ago, and received a period the following week, and 3 months later i have not received a period yet. I have taken two at home pregnancy test and they came out negative and i have taken one at a physician's office which has also came out negative, and i was told i may not be receiving my period due to stress or other abnormal activites. However do you think this is serious and i should get it checked out because i am also noticing some white slimey discharge all of a sudden, could you have any other possible suggestions as to what is occurring?
Answer Do a blood test for pregnancy- hcg . If this is negative, take duphaston tablets - one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. Regarding your delayed period, it could be due to stress, but if it recurs, have your hormone tests of thyroid & prolactin done as an abnormality in the hormones can also cause the problem. Also, do an ultrasound to see if there is any problem with the uterus or ovaries. Normally, one does get a clear discharge around mid-cycle when one is ovulating. If you have a discharge throughout the cycle,it could be due to vaginal or cervical infection. See a gynec. who can who can determine the type of infection & give you appropriate treatment.

Answer You can use premarine vaginal cream (an estrogen cream ) once a day for 7 days . You could repeat the treatment once every month. This will help relieve your vaginal dryness. Also, you could take livial tablets as a form of hormone replacement which will help prevent hot flushes. Also, that would help protect the bones & the heart.

Question, I have had problems for some years with vaginal discharge.
It is usually thickish, cream coloured, although on occasion it has been brownish. It does not smell, and is not sore but sometimes can be itchy on each side of the clitoris, inside the outer lips.Ihave had a smear which came back clear and a test for thrush which came back negative since then it has not been addressed. It has not gone away and is very uncomfortable especialy as when I am out walking I can feel the discharge occuring....please can you help.
Thank you

Answer You should see a gynec who can repeat the vaginal smear & do a culture & sensitivity of the vaginal secretions. Depending on the type of infection, you can use vaginal pessaries or cream . Also, both you & your partner should take oral tablets simultaneously to prevent recurrences of the infection.

Question, Is pain felt in the vagina and pelvic area after a pap test a cause for concern? I've only visited a gynecologist yesterday and had my first pap test. I left the doctor's office feeling some pain I thought the pain was normal and would later go away so i didn't bother to tell the her. Now, i realized that it may have been caused by the speculum she initially used which hurt me and she had to replace it with a smaller one after i complained.
Answer If there was no bleeding after the pap , you don't need to worry. Your pain should subside in a few days. Remind your gynec everytime that you need to be examined with a small speculum to prevent any further pain.

Question, My wife is almost 24 weeks pregnant now and I am planning to send her home for delivery. However, in the earlier 2/3 scannings done (last one after 41/2 months), Doctors indicated that the placenta position is low. So, Doctor can you please advise by which period she should travel and by when we can diagnise if there is any problem ?
Answer Different airlines have differnt rules about travelling during pregnancy. Most airlines allow women to travel upto 32 weeks with a doctor's certificate. Check with your airline . As the uterus grows the placental position changes & it may not be low by 32 weeks. Do a scan around 30 weeks to determine the placental position & if it is not covering the os, she can travel.

Question, my daughter is 13teen and has doctor after doctor including a uroglist for a weak blader she is on dithropan 10mg a day but it does not seem to help and because of her age I am not sure who she should see next please help thank you
Answer The urologist would be able to determine the exact cause of the problem Also, an alternative treatment can be suggested. Also, have an ultrasound done by a gynec to rule out any uterine or ovarian lesion which maybe causing pressure effects on the bladder.

Question, January of 2003 I had an ectopic pregancy I want to know is it normal to have a cycle for a month. It' been like this ever since I had the ectopic pregancy and I don't have a cycle ever month it will skip a month than come the next month.Do I still ouvalate
Answer After one cycle (after the ectopic ) the periods should be regular. See a gynec who can do an ultrasound to determine the cause of the problem. If that is normal do hormone tests of the thyroid & prolactin. Any abnormality in these can also cause the heavy or delayed periods.

Question, Dear Doctor, I am 2 months pregnant(1st pregnancy), I had my last periods on 19th april, from the 16th of may I had taken 9 tablets of primolut N to postpond my periods not knowing that I had conceived.will this affect the child growth or me? My gync is suggesting to terminate the pregnancy as according to him the child can have lots of complications. Does this drug have very bad effect?
Answer Usually, primolut affects the fetus around 14 weeks of pregnancy. It causes masculinisation of the female fetus. Since you have taken the tablets early in pregnancy, you should not have any problem Both you & your husband should discuss the problem in detail ( the chances & type of abnormality) with a gynec. & then decide regarding termination.

Question, i took the ECP and then i started having blood-spotting, then one sunday i took the pill for the firs time while being on my period, and i had a really heavy period, and now i'm having brown discharge after 10 days, is it normal ?
Answer Did you start the pill at the right time as per the instructions ? ( Some pills have to be started on the first day of the cycle & some from the fifth day ) Also, did you forget any pills ? If you did, this may cause bleeding in between the period . You must see a gynec who can also determine that the bleeding is not due to any other cause like a fibroid or any hormonal abnormalities.

Question, iI am 17 years old and my period has been irregular for the past three years. I tried going to the doctor but they could not find anything.for instance my ccle came on the 7th of May but it is the 17th of june and it hasn't come and I am not sexually active. What is wrong?
Answer You can take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get your period. However, you must do certain hormone tests like FSH, LH, PROLACTIN & THYROID TESTS to find the cause of the irregular periods. Also, have an ultrasound done. Appropriate treatment can be given according to the results of the investigations.

Question, Hi I have a pain in my abdomen all the time like a dull period pain sometimes i have shooting pains that go accross my stomach into my sides and back,my period only lasted 2 days and just stopped all of a sudden from alot of blood to nothing, also after my period there was a fishy smeel which has gone now,but i have a thick white disharge, what is wrong?
Answer You should see a gynec who can do an ultrasound to rule out fibroids or an ovarian cyst which maybe responsible for the pain. Also, since you had a scanty period,do a urine test for pregnancy , as there can sometimes be scanty bleeding during pregnancy. Also, the gynec can do a vaginal swab to determine the type of infection & treat you accordingly.

Question, Please I will be so happy if you could please help me out. I have been having my period for the past almost a month now. And it comes non stopping and it usually acomplished with this thick blood. I know something is wrong, but what I dont know. What can I do. I am worried to death.
Answer Right now, you can take cyclokapron tablets- one tablet three times a day for 5 days to stop the bleeding. You must see a gynec . also to find the cause of the bleeding. An ultrasound & certain hormone tests will help determine the cause of the bleeding.

Question, everytime i have painful periods...kindly please suggest me something so that i will overcome this pain...
Answer You can take cataflam tablets- one tablet twice a day for your period pain. However, you must see a gynec . who can do an ultrasound to rule out a fibroid or an ovarian cyst which maybe giving you the pain.

Question, I developed a boil on the upper area of the outer vulva (near pubic hair area) and after about 5 days it stopped looking angry and developed into a hard lump/nodule. That was 12 months ago and the lump is still there. It is not painful, it can move if touched and has not increased in size. I am 29, never taken any form of oral contraception. my periods are normal and I have had no itching or pain. Can you tell me if this is a cyst. I do occasionally get boils on other parts of my body and when they go they also leave a lump but not as large as this one which measures just under 1 cm. Is there any form of over the counter treatment I can try to reduce this lump before going to the GP's. I'd hate to be refered to the gyn department at the hospital if it only a cyst but it is playing on my mind.
Answer It is difficult to opine without seeing you. You must see a gynec since you have this problem for a long time. Sometimes there is an infection of the hair-follicles, which subsides within a few days, but since your boil is persisting, it would be best seen & treated.

Question, I have a problem. I have very severe bleeding and large clots sometimes as big as my fist when i have my period. I am 35 my doctor says that im going through the change but I have been doing this for about 6 years now. I have very sever pain with my periods.sometimes they feel like labor pains so bad that when i urinate it is like i push ten i'll pass a large clot and it will ease up for a while. I hae to wear 2 pads at a time amd change them about every 10 to 20 min. Besides that i skip periods i have not had one now since april and this is june. I had my tubes tied almost 11 years ago. I need help can yu shed some light on what the prblem is.
Answer Have you had an ultrasound done to rule out fibroids in the uterus? Fibroids can cause heavy bleeding & increase in size after 35 years. If that is norm, test your thyroid hormones, which may determine the cause of the heavy bleeding .Also, your gynec can give you certain medicines which can relieve your pain & reduce your bleeding.

Question, i was on the shot depo-provera for three consecutive years. now that i am married my husband and i decided to have kids. i have been off of the shot for 21 months now still waiting to get pregnant. my periods are finally regularnow. so tell me doctor how much longer will i have to wait? my doctor has no answers, he just keeps giving me provera pills to help my body ovulate. let me know what you think!!!!!!!! please doctor i am not getting any younger : )
Answer You should do a clear plan test (available in a pharmacy ) to check whether you are ovulating or not. That wouldalso help determine your most fertile period . If you ovulating, try for 2-3 months. If you ar still not pregnant, see a gynec. who can do tests like hormone tests, semen exam , PCT or test your tubes to find out the reason for not conceiving & help you accordingly.Provera does not help to ovulate. It only helps to regularise your periods. You can take clomid tablets to ovulate. ( This must be done under ultrasound supervision by a gynec ).

Question, Hello I need your help I went into the doctor to see why I was bleeding for 10 months straight and all the doctor could tell me was that I have trichomoniasis. How doe you get this disease and would it make me bleed for that long? Can I still become pregnant, I have been trying for the last year and a half to get pregnant but nothing any suggestions someone said to try and use wild yam?
Answer I have no idea about wild yam!! Do a clear plan test to determine whether you are ovulating or not. If you are , then you should be pregnant within 2-3 months of timed intercourse. If you are not ovulating, see a gynec who can give you clomid tablets to help you ovulate. Regarding your bleeding , Do you have a fibroid in the uterus? Are your thyroid tests normal ? Usually, trichomoniasis should not give you bleeding for such a long period. An ultrasound & homone tests will help determine the cause of the bleeding.

Question, I just turn 60 years old. My vigina has bad fishey ordor. Could this be a sign of trouble.
Answer See a gynec who can determine whether you have any vaginal infection & treat you acoordingly. Also, once your periods have stopped, the body produces less estrogen & this causes atrophic vaginitis , which also makes you more prone to vaginal infections. You can use premarine vaginal cream for 7 days once a month to prevent recurring infections.

Question, i have been trying to get pregnant for about 6 months.for the past two months i have had periods that lasted only 2-3 days .can i possibly be pregnant? my periods come between the 10th and 15th of the month.my periods always have lasted for about seven to eight days.i have been on clomid. i am getting desperate and don't know what to do.is it possible to geet pregnant 3-4 days after ovulation? any advice you have will be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Answer You could be having scanty periods during clomid treatment. However, you can check the urine for pregnancy as you can sometimes be pregnant & have bleeding. While on clomid you should do an ultrasound to determine when you are ovulating .One can get pregnant 3-4 days before ovulation , upto the day of ovulation. If ultrasound shows you are not ovulating with one tablet of clomid, your gynec can increase your dose. You should also check your husband's semen, do a PCT & check your tubes to determine the reason for not conceiving. All the best !

Question, I was on Ortho Trycyclen. I recently stopped to pill to get pregnant and It's been a month. Last Thursday I thought I got my period but it doesnt feel like my period the blood is more brown and I'v been bleeding like this for 12 days. In the middle of my stomach, like right above my vagina hurts. What is going on??? PLEASE HELP ME!
Answer Do a urine test for pregnancy. If that is negative, take cyclokapron - one tablet three times a day for 3 days to stop the bleeding. See a gynec who can do an ultrasound to rule out a fibroid or any ovarian cyst which maybe the cause of your problem .

Question, Well, last week I took a preg. test and a faint line came up, I was a couple of days late. Then the same day I took the test, I started bleeding - not normal bleedging though. Normally, my periods are very heavy and it started out pink, then bright red - it lasted for about 48 - 50 hours then stopped. In between the bleeding I was experiencing severe cramps and harsh lower back pain. Then, the same say I stopped bleeding, I started again that night, sometime in my sleep and stopped for good the next afternoon. However, the cramps continued and slowly became worse. So, i went to the ER, they did lots of tests, blood tests, urine tests, a pelvic exam and even as much as a CT Scan, and found nothing. Would it be possible that I had a chemical pregnancy and by the time I went to the ER the HCG levels were undetectable?? It was 5 days after the bleeding started before I went to the ER - please help.
Answer Sometimes, a urine test comes faintly positive just prior to a period. If your blood test for pregnancy( hcg) is negative, don't worry . You could have had a chemical pregnancy, but if the urine test & the blood test were done on the same day , the blood test should have shown a low level of hcg. If your pain has subsided & does not recur, you don't need any further investigations or treatment.

Question, I am worried about my recent period. It started 3 days early and it was very light, but it was dark, dark red. It was almost too light to wear a tampon, and it ended sooner that usual. I also just switched onto a new pill, Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, 3 months ago, which has relaly messed me up. It has made me break out badly. Could my pill have changed my period, or could I be pregnant?
Answer The pill does cause scanty periods. Also, one can have slight bleeding during a pregnancy. Do a urine test for pregnancy. You could change your pill & see if your acne reduces. You can also use some local treatment for your acne .

Question, Hello, i am about two months pregnant. And i would like to know by me being diagnosed with HPV will i be able to deliver my baby vagionally?
And also do i have this disease forever? And what can my partner do to treat his HPV?

Answer The child is rarely infected following a vaginal delivery. If , however, you have many warts around the introitus ( vulval opening), a cesarian section can be done. Your husband should see a skin specialist & can be treated depending on what lesions he has.

Question, Inside the lips of my vagina (just after the pubic hair line) I have something..a bump..only one, and nothing unusual in the rest(or around)my vaginAnswer It resembles a pimple (with no head) or a blister..it looks like both. It's a bit bigger then a regular pimple though. Please help me what is it!
Answer It is most likely an infection in the hair follicle in the skin. If it is the same size & not increasing or getting painful & red, don't worry. If it is increasing, see a gynec.who can give you the appropriate treatment.

Next month I need to go and get yet another pep done. How often does a test come back saying one thing then another one comes back saying somthing else. please tell me what do i believe..
Answer One of these tests is wrong, probably the first one. Did it say irregular squamous cells or cancer cells ? Do send me both the complete reports & I can advice you accordingly. If the last report is normal, you can repeat the smear every 6-12 months.

Question, I am 16 years old and recently I have had irregular periods (coming 2 times in one month) and unusual slight bleeding after urination. I also noticed a lump near my anus towards the inner right buttcheek. I'm very worried about my health. Please help me find a solution. Thank you
Answer Is the bleeding after urination or after defecation? You maybe having hemorrhoids (piles ) which is probably the lump you feel. Do see a doctor who can examine you & decide the diagnosis & treatment. Also, you can do an ultrasound to rule out any fibroid or ovarian cyst giving you the frequent periods.

Question, Hello Dr,
I am 38 years old woman. My concern is that I have experienced a brownish spot just around my ovulation cycle. It came out the samething in the last month. Is this normal, specially in my case that I have been trying to conceive a baby?
Thanks!

Answer Some women do have spotting around ovulation. That is the best time to conceive . You could do an ultrasound also to check when you are ovulating to increase your chances of conception. All the best !

Question, I have had one child in 1996. Since last year i have been trying to conceive. I conceived in Jan 2003 but had a miscarriage. Ever since i had a cyst which is now gone and i am ready to try again. During my ovulation week, the doctor has advised me to go on Duhpaston 10 mg for 10 days. I am not sure why i need to have this drug, or whether i should. Is this necessary? If so how does it help my chances to get pregnant. Pls let me know. Thanks
Answer You should do an ultrasound around day 13 of the cycle to see when you would be ovulating.Once you have ovulated , you can take duphaston, which may help prevent a miscarriage. In some women there is a low progesterone level & that is corrected by duphaston

Question, I am 28 years old, newly married, still trying to conceive. I usually have regular periods, my last period was 4-28-03. On my next period which should be 5-28-03 bothers me, because 3 days before that date I have pinkish/ brown discharge. On 5-28-03, it was gone until now.Is it a sign that I'm pregnant? What is the best time that I have to take a pregnancy test?
Answer Sometimes , you can have a scanty period or can have spotting of pregnancy. You can do a pregnancy test like clear- blue , around 2-3 days after your missed period or spotting date & you should know whether you are pregnant. However, if your ovulation has been late, the test might come positive later. Repeating the test around 8-10 days later will confirm the pregnancy.

Question, I had hysterectomy 5 years ago after suffering pid for 10 years I still(have my right ovary)Since i have had a sharp pain on the right side and water infections every month(with no bacterial growth)I take ciproxifloxin low dose on a perminant basis but as soon as i come off it i have a flare up which takes up to 3 weeks to get under control(the right sharp pain is agony, iam sick and naseaus with no appitite ;i feel so ill.I had a scan last year which showed a mass inflammation around the ovary and a cyst.My gyny said it was nothing and sent me to the pain clinic. They have now sent me to a uroligist who cant find anything wrong.I feel desperate to get help but don't know where to go.
Answer First of all, you must do an ultrasound to check whether the size of the cyst has increased and that maybe the reason for the pain. If the culture test of your vaginal discharge is normal, I don't think you should keep taking antibiotics. Do let me know the result of your latest scan & I can advice you accordingly.

Question, hi my name is shameka bootle i am from nassau, bahamas i am just worried iam 21 and i having been seeing my period for like 1year can you please help me
Answer When did your periods start ? Were they irregular from the beginning ? Do an ultrasound to check your uterus & ovaries . If that is normal, check your blood for thyroid function. Also, do a serum FSH & LH test on day 2 of your period. Let me know all these results & I can advice you accordingly.

Question, Hello,
This is a great site. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 9 months now, we have not been on fertilization treatments. We have recently been trying to get tested for fertilization problems and I have had a pap and pelvic along with STD tests and everything is fine. I am 21 years old and have had my period since I was 10. I have never had abnormal periods. My periods run on a normal 28 day cycle and some times can be a day off, also moderate to heavy bleeding. At 17 I went on birth control pills for acne and ended them 15 months ago. My husband and I have had unprotected sex for 12 months but have only been trying for 9 months. This month I was due for my menstrual cycle on June 3, 03 but ended up getting it on June 1, 03 a couple days earlier. I noticed it was very light and brown, usually this happens before I get heavy and red. The second day it stayed the same it was still brown but a little heavier, all day amount would be the size of 3 quarters and was not chucky like normal. Today the 3rd it is still brown in color but is lighter than yesturday to where a light day pad will do the trick. I am guessing tomarrow it will be gone. I do not have any bloating, cramping or PMS symptoms associated with this. I have been getting slight headaches on and off since the 1st and was nausiated from May 24,03 to May 31, 03. I also am having indigestion problems and take tums for the acid. I am very concerned. Could this be a problem to worry about? I have read that brown discharge can be old blood and if so would it be concidered a missed period? I was also wondering if that are any home remedies that will help a woman to get pregnant? Thanks so much.

Answer Whenever you have an abnormal period (scanty or late), it is advisable to do a urine test like clear blue to rule out a pregnancy. You could be pregnant & bleeding. Regarding home remedies for getting pregnant, it is important to find when you will be ovulating. This can be tested by a test called " clear plan".

Question, After having intercourse, i have pain and it bleeds. this happened couple of times, it doesn't happen every time i have intercourse, I'm very worried. i want to know why does it happen and how to prevent. Is it okay to have intercourse as me and my partner planning for baby?
I would kindly appriciate your help and more information about it.
Answer You probably have cervical infection or an erosion of the cervix , which gives post-coital bleeding. You must see a gynec. who can examine you & give you the appropriate treatment.

Question, Hello,
I have a concern that I am hoping you can help me with. I had a physical a while ago and my gp referred me to a gynaecologist because she said my cervix was a little swollen. She did a pap test which came back normal. Now I went to my gynaecologist and he said it was nothing to worry about and that this was caused by the changes in my body after having a baby 8 months ago. Now is this something that can change into something more serious later, or is this really something not to worry about? Also will this affect my future reproductive health? I would appreciate any advice.

Answer If your pap is normal, & you do not have any vaginal infection, you should not worry. During a pregnancy & delivery numerous changes occur in the cervix. If the pap is normal, it is unlikely to change into anything later on. You can repeat a pap once a year just to assure yourself . Don't worry !

Question, Im tring to get pregnant,i had sex two months ago an my boyfriend came in me 4 2 months straight mostly when around ovulation time or 2 days before my period or after i had a regular period in march an april but not in june. please help me do u think im pregnant yet...
Answer You can do a urine test like clear blue to check for pregnancy. The best time to conceive is between day 11 to 18 of the cycle. It varies from person to person & also changes within the same person. You could do a test like clear plan to check which is the best time for you to conceive.

Question, I have 2 questions.
1. I am 23 years old and i started taking pills when i was 21 years old, as part of our family planning, i want to continue taking pills for another year. and after pregnancy I would like to have a gap of 3 years for another child so this much pills is ok...i mean what could be the side effects.
2. I am taking gracial right now but i have taken minulet in past, my doctor said that gracial is lighter than minulet, is this true? How these 2 pills differ from each other? And which one is best? These days I get tired easily and experience headache by the end of the day..also i don't feel like having sex much..can this be because of gracial?

Answer Gracial is lighter than minulet & has a lower concentration of hormones. This should give you less side-effects than minulet. However, both headache & lack of libido can occur with both pills. I usually advice giving a break of one month once you have taken the pill for 11 months. If your headache persists, check your blood pressure & your eyes. If they are both normal, you could change the pill to yasmin or gynera & see whether that suits you better. Different pills have different side-effects in different people & you should find the best one for you. You should check your blood sugar also since you plan to use the pills again. All these pills are safe & can be continued over several years.

Question, Hi, is it normal to have pelvic discomforts while ovulating (that is triggered by clomid). I detected an increase in LH (by using the ovulation prediction kit) yesterday, and today I'm having slight cramps in the lower right pelvic region and a kind of burning sensation. Thanks.
Answer When one ovulates there maybe some lower abdominal pain ( like a period pain ) or discomfort. There may also be a bit of spotting. If you are planning a pregnancy that is the fertile period ! All the best !

Question, Dear Dr. i have Ulcer in the cervix. is it dangerous and what is the treatment ?
Answer An ulcer or "erosion " of the cervix is commonly seen after the use of condoms, IUCDs , a vaginal delivery. It can cause vaginal discharge or post-coital bleeding. It can be treated by vaginal pessaries or creams. If that does not work, cryosurgery of the cervix will help. An ulcer is not dangerous usually, but if it persists, a Pap smear would be advisable.

Question, Hi Doctor,I just noticed a small bump right at the edge of my vaginAnswerIt kinda looked like a pimple.I was trying to examine it when it popped,a white colored puss came out and now its just a red bump. What could this possibly be?
Answer It must have been a small skin abscess. If it recurs, see a gynec.

Question, i went through artifical insemination on april 30,2003 and also on may 1 2003 and now waiting till thursday may 15th for pregnancy test. my folicles were size 18 and went to 25 what is your opinion could i be pregnant with twins
Answer You have not mentioned how many follicles you had . That would determine whether you may have twins( and not the number of inseminations you had ) . Do let me know.

Question, i have a problem, when i was 14yrs old and i got my ist periods i was very fatty at that moment, and i got period pain,my gynecologist recommened to lose my weight but after losing my wieght my period pain wasn't disappeared i used pain killers but my period become stoped i got reguler cycle with reguler pain i am worried that can i be pragnent having this problem please hepl
Answer Losing weight would help you to regularise your periods. It would not help in reducing the period pain. When one ovulates, one does get painful periods. So, don't worry about not getting pregnant. You can take some pain-killers for 2-3 days of your periods. Also, do an ultrasound to check that you do not have any other conditions like a fibroid or an ovarian cyst giving you the pain.

Question, I'm 17 and I'm really worried. I have been sexually active with my boyfriend, and also under a lot of stress lately. I had my menstrual cycle 18 days ago and i just started bleeding which i think is called intermenstrual bleeding. I'm really worried and more than anythingI just want to know how long intermenstrual bleeding can last and what can I do to make it go away as fast as possible. Please help!
Answer You can take tablets like exacyl or dicynone- 1 tablet three times a dy for 3 days. That would stop the bleeding. If it recurs, see a gynec as the intermenstrual spotting maybe due to other causes besides stress . An ultrasound and a gynec examination would rule these out.

Question, I thought that i was delevoping a yeast infection and made a mistake by adding baking soda and it got wrost. Now it burns to urinate! What is the problem and waht should i do?
Answer You must see a gynec who can examine you & give you the appropriate treatment before it gets worse !!

Question, I am a 48 year old female. For the past few years I have gotten a few skin tags on my neck and under arms. In the past year I noticed a small skin tag forming on the lip of vaginAnswer It has grown and is wide at the base and about a half in long and appears to still be growing. Can this be removed without causing severe pain. I have been married for 23 years, but still this is very embarrasing to me.
Answer Since the tag on your vagina is growing, you must see a gynec who can advice you accordingly. Also, it may require to be removed & sent for examination.

Question, have taken about 7 at home pregnacy test eaarly pregnacy test and so forth they all came out positive except for the last one i went to the doctor for what is going on they drew my blood yesterday and i am anxious to know please respond soon
Answer If your tests are positive , why have you repeated them so often ? Have you done an ultrasound ? At 6 weeks you should have a gestational sac with a heart-beat. The scan is the only way you will know whether your baby is ok. Why have you done a blood test and when was your last period ?

Question, I conceived in August 2000 but had a miscarriage in October 2000. It was discovered that my miscarriage was caused due to endometeorsis. The cyst was 6 cm by 5 cm. I had an operation in January 2001 at SQU under Dr Puzzet and Dr LavinAnswer We have been trying to conceive desperately but have been unable to do so as I am able to produce only one follicle. I have taken pregnyl injections for multiple follicle formation as well as to break the follicles but have still not conceived. I started the injections for 3 mths but then developed a perianal abcess. This has now turned to a fistula, is this preventing me from getting pregnant? I would like to come and see you, please give me an appointment.
Answer Your fistula does not prevent you from getting pregnant, so don't worry. Just relax & you should be pregnant again. As asked by you, my telephone no. is 563181. You can call for an appointment. I would like to do an ultrasound (on a full bladder ) to see whether your cyst has recurred. Also, please bring whatever reports you have.

Question, Dear doctor !
I have this diagnosis:in the pelvis ,bilateral cystic adnexal masses are noted.Right adnexa measures 4.5 cm in greatest transverse diameter. The left adnexa measure approximately 3.0 cm transverse diameter .The possibility of ovarian cystic lesions is forwarded as possibility, however there is no free fluid in the pelvis.
I have a questions:should I have surgery? and I have problems with my right upper quadrant pain of abdomen, consipation, diarrea, back of my ribs pain and lots of gas. My question is:could cyst effect my bowel problem what I write. Thank you.I am waiting for answer.God bless!

Answer Have you been given any treatment for the cysts ? Sometimes, the cyst would reduce with certain medications. The other symptoms like upper quadrant pain etc are unlikely to be due to the cysts. Since you have diarrhea &/or constipation, you most likely have an irritable bowel syndrome. Your physician should be able to give you the appropriate treatment for that.

Question, Hi. If you do not see your period for a while what is actually worng with you? I am 20 and the last time I saw my period was in february and its now May. it has been happening to me since 2001. my periods have not been regular.
Answer You must see a gynec who can do an ultrasound to rule out any pathologyin your uterus or ovaries. Also, certain hormone tests maybe required to find the cause of the irregular periods.

Question, Hi!I'm a 13 yr old girl and haven't started my period yet.....but that's not what I'm asking about.I've had a discharge for about a month now continually. Could I have a fungal infection? If so....how did I get it?Thanks a bunch
Answer You could have had a fungal infection. This is very common in summer. Also, it can occur after using a swimming-pool. See a gynec who can treat that. Also, have an ultrasound done to make sure your uterus & ovaries are ok. . The reason for your delayed onset of periods can be determined.

Question, i am 26 and have 4 children My periods are longer and havier since having a coil fitting two years ago i had thought they would go back to normal by now but the haven't the last two periods have been even more odd the start has been spotting then i get really horriable black tar like stuff which is followed by blood in the end i am really worried about this i want more children and don't want to have problems but i am worried about what could be wrong
Answer You said you have had a coil fitted. I presume this is the copper one. This is known to cause heavy periods. If you are in Muscat , take an appointment on 563181 & I will examine you & give you the adequate treatment. Appropriate treatment should reduce your suffering!

Question, Usually, during and after sex my vagina feels very uncomfortable. It feels sore like a stinging sensation and i cant have sex again for approx 48hrs. This is causing a problem as my long-term boyfriend has a very high sex drive! I would think it is because i am not naturally lubricated enough before we start intercourse, but sometimes when i am really turnt on i still experience this pain. I am 20 yrs old and have just had my 1st smear test which showed up as 'normal' so im asuming i have no medical problems, or does a smear test only show up cancer? i have had 4 sexual partners in the past and have never felt this discomfort with any other sexual partner, only my previous boyfriend. Im assuming he has no STI as he doesn't suffer from any problems down below. Please help me by answering my question as best you can, as i am a very shy person and dont feel i could talk to my doc face to face about this.
Answer You could use a lubricating jelly like k-y to reduce your pain. Also, see a gynec who can determine whether there is any infection in the vagina or cervix which is giving you this problem. The smear test would show infection also. If you send me the complete smear report, I could guide you.

Question, hello doctor,

i am 27 yr old trying to conceive for the last 2 1/2 years.
The following r the results of the test done 4 months back.
1)hsg-normal uterus,right and left tube ---patent,normal]
2)T4,T3,TSH----NORMAL
3)FSH- 7.94 U/L (NORMAL RANGE-2.5-10.20 U/L-FOLLICULAR PHASE)
4)LH- 10.91 mIU/L (NORMAL RANGE-1.9-12.50 mIU/L-FOLLICULAR PHASE)
5)pROLACTIN- 16.32 (NON PREGNANT----2.8 TO 29.2 NG/ML)
6)Husband's semen count----82.4millions/ml(motility-78 %)

I have tried 4-5 (not continous) cycles of IUI at Oman without result.Every IUI Cycle ,I had 3-4 mature follicles.
In Nov 2002,I tried IVF AT BomBAY, 2 embroyos of grade i quality were transferred,,but was not successful.
After IVF,my cycles have become very irregular.I got my periods on 29th dec,21st feb and 6th may(induced).

kindly help and let me know what r my chances of conceiving. What treatment should I try in Oman. What is the cost of IVF HERE ..where is it done and what r the success rate?

Answer Since both your tubes are normal and your husband's semen count is normal, you should conceive naturally (if the PCT is normal )

or with 5-6 cycles of IUI. You can call on 563181 for an appointment with me & we could try IUI again before you try IVF again. The success rates of IUI & IVF in your case are almost comparable.
