I'm really worried about my PCOD.it was found out last yr when my skipped my periods for more than 2months. i'm 30yrs old. i didnt take any treatment untill last week. Now my gyneac has given me glycomet 250 1-0-1 and gestofit 200. is there any problem in taking these, i've heard that chances r high of weight gaining if i take hormones tablets and also why diabetis medication for me when am not diabetic, I've a history of diabetis in my dad's family.
Do advice me about this and also tell me if i can conceive, am planning to get married after 4-5 months, my fiance knows about my problems but he is quite optimistic about a kid but am really worried as I've seen lot of cases of miscarriages with PCOD.

PCOD is a common condition affecting 10-20 % of women. It is accompanied by irregular periods, anovulation, obesity and hirsutism ( excessive hair growth). The reason you have been given glycomet is that women with PCOD have insulin resistance. This is corrected by glycomet and it would help you to ovulate (form eggs).The gestofit has been given to regularise your periods. Both the products are safe. Once you ovulate, you can conceive. If you do not ovulate with glycomet alone, you can be given clomid when you wish to conceive. There is a higher incidence of miscarriages with PCOD, but that can be reduced with adequate treatment.

I AM ABOUT AT THE END OF MY ROPE AND SOON WILL BE HEADING FOR DIVORCE COURT HUSBANDS REASON LACK OF SEX!

Sorry to hear about your problems. I know it must be frustrating, but you have to relax, as stress will aggravate your problem further. First of all, depo provera can give irregular bleeding in some women, so avoid that. Which oral contraceptives have you used ? Did all affect you in the same way or were there some which showed slight omprovement? Use primolut - n - one tablet twice a day for 25 days from the first day of your next period. Take it at 8am and 8pm after food. Let me know how you respond with that and the list of your previous oral contraceptives and I can advice you further. This is not a contraceptive, so you will need some contraceptive method like a condom.

Have an ultrasound done . You would know that the fetus is within the uterus and the heart beat is fine. Bleeding during pregnancy can be due to a threatened aortion or an ectopic pregnancy ( pregnancy in the tube ). If the bleeding persists, you can use duphaston tablets- one tabnlet three times a dy till 12 weeks of pregnancy.

My periods are irregular, before getting them I had a headache instead of period pains. My tummy is growing I have been to two differenet gynecologists, they both scanned me and found out that I am not pregnant. Has your weight increased in the last few months? If yes, then you have increased your fat deposition around your abdomen. You can do certain abdominal excercises and reduce your intake of fried and sweet food. Disflatyl tablets will help reduce your bloating. Some women may get headache prior to the period, so this is normal. If disflatyl alone does not help, you can take some antacid like malox or gelucil.

You may continue to bleed off and on for 10-20 days after the miscarriage. However, if the bleeding is increasing , see your gynec. Were you given antibiotics after the miscarriage ? This would help in preventing any pelvic infection , which can also cause the abdominal pain.

Have an ultrasound done to rule out a fibroid or an ovarian cyst which can cause the period irregularity. Let me know about your discharge- is it more during the mid- cycle? What colour is it ? I can advice you further once I know the details and the result of the ultrasound.

This could be an infection of the hair follicle . Use soframycein skin cream twice a day for 5 days . If the problem persisits, you may need oral antibiotics.

Have a culture and sensitivity done of the vaginal discharge. This will determine which infection you have and what is the appropriate antibiotic for treating it. Accordingly, oral and vaginal treatment can be administered.

I will be starting with mala-d for contraception on the fifth day of my period, that is on 29 aug, my first day was on 25 aug, is it effective to use mala-d, my cycle is somewhere around 38-40 days; which is the safe time for me to have an intercourse so that I don't get pregnant, when I will be ovulating, after how many days from the first day of my period?

If you are using mala- D , you should not get pregnant.If you are not, then with irregular periods, it is difficult to predict your safe days as ovulation maybe delayed in some cycles. If you let me know the dates of your last 6 cycles, I maybe able to give you a rough idea about your safe days.

What is the length of your menstrual cycle. If you are ovulating late ( after day 20 of the period) , the urine test will not be positive immediately after you miss the period. A urine test is positive 15 days after conception , while a blood test around 10 days after conception. If a urine test is negative and is repeated around a week later, it may come positive. If you still have not got a period, repeat the urine test . If negative, do a blood test.

You may have a skin abscess. Use soframycein or bactroban skin ointment twice a day for 5 days. If the problem persists, you will need to see a doctor who can examine and decide what it is and give you antibiotics or any other medication.

Your sinus infection and the antibiotics taken would give you the feeling of being " drained out". Have your hemoglobin checked. If it is low, take a multivitamin tablet with iron (like stresstab). If it is normal, take a multivitamin tablet without iron , like multibionta. Regarding your bleeding, have an ultrasound done and your thyroid hormones checked. let me know the results, so I can advice you further.

Women with PCOD have "insulin resistance" . This does not allow the ovary to form eggs well. Taking diamet will reduce this insulin resistance and allow the eggs to form well. The cysts in the ovary would remain and as long as the eggs are formed well, the symptoms of PCOD like irregular periods and anovulation will be corrected.

The follicle should be at least 18-20 mm. before it ruptures. What is your serum FSH & LH level on day 2 of your cycle? What medication are you using for ovulation induction and in what dose? Let me know the results, so I can advice you further.

Are you and your husband cousins? Certain disorders are more common in cousins. There is a chance of the problem recurring in a subsequent pregnancy. However, you can have a normal pregnancy also. There should not be any problem in conceiving. Take folic acid once a day from now, even prior to conception. This will reduce the chance of certain other abnormalities like spina bifida. The depo provera can give delayed or irregular periods and spotting in between . The hardness of your breasts maybe due to water retention in the body due to the depo provera. If ,however, you find the hardness in the breast in a particular region , see a doctor to rule out any lump in the breast.

The follicle reaches 18 to 20 mm before it can rupture. Repeat the ultrasound on day 14 & then 17 to see whether it reaches that size. Some of us then give Injection Pregnyl 5000 units to rupture the follicle. Are you on any medication for ovulation? Let me know , so I can advice you further.

Hi, I had a missed abortion miscarriage so they had to do a DNC. After the DNC my period started coming irregular. Instead of blood I would get a brown pasty discharge for about 3-4 days and it would come back every month. I remember the doctor telling me during a follow up after the miscarriage to take tonics for about a year or so before I try to get pregnant again but I didn't. That was about 3 years ago. Well, for the past 3 months I've decide to take her advice and take a tonic called SSS and the brown discharge went away now it's bright red but it has a very foul odor. The brown discharge had no foul odor. When the period goes away the odor goes away with it.

To give you a little history. I have given birth in the past vaginally and cesarean. I had complications after the vaginal births due to retained placenta and after that I had no period for 7 months and got pregnant again without a period, that's the birth I had a cesarean with because the baby was transversal. My question is do you have any idea why I didn't get a period after the retained placenta and still got pregnant and why do I have a foul smelling period? The blood flow is extremely light. Sorry to hear about your problems. Were you breast feeding when you conceived (in the pregnancy where you had a Caesarian )?. If yes, in that case you could have ovulated and conceived without a period. I do not know what SSS is , so if you could send me the contents, I can advice you further. It should have folic acid in it as you wish to conceive. Regarding your dark and foul smelling blood flow- is it throughout your period or only in the beginning and the end of the period? Do you have a vaginal or cervical infection or polyp? Let me know , so I can advice you further.

Regarding your daughter, she can take duphalac syrup for the constipation. It is safe during pregnancy. Diet adjustments- like avoiding apples and eating a lot of fibre, bananas, spinach, and drinking lots of water may also prevent constipation.

Taking primolut may change the colour of your bleeding. However, do a pregnancy test like clear blue to rule out a pregnancy. Since you wish to conceive, if you need to delay a period take duphaston tablets , rather than primolut as it is safer in case you have conceived in that cycle.

You need to tell me what your cycle length is. You can have an abdominal ultrasound done (which does not involve a vaginal examination ) . This would reveal if you have polycystic ovaries, which is a common cause of irregular periods. If that is normal, have your thyroid and prolactin hormones checked. This is a blood test which should not make you uncomfortable. Let me know the results, so I can advice you further.

I am 37 year old female have 2children every time I get my period I bleed with large clots as big as a 50 cent piece.. I went to my doctor who said I had polps and so I had a d&c done and was told clots would go away and bleeding would not be as bad anymore. Sorry to hear about your bleeding problem. Has an ultrasound been done? Does it reveal fibroids or an ovarian cyst ? These can cause heavy periods. If this is normal, have your thyroid hormones checked and your hemoglobin. Let me know the results, so I can advice you further. In the meantime, you can take cycklocapron or dicynone tablets- one tablet three times a day from the 2nd day of the period for 3 days to reduce the bleeding.
