Question
I am 4 days late ,iam feeling nauseous and having cramps ,am'i pregnant
Answer
If you have still not got a period, do a urine test for pregnancy like
clear blue. Nausea and cramps may occur just before a period also, so a
urine test will be confirmatory.
Question
Can you please tell me if Duphaston can cause
morning sickness to be more severe?
Answer
Duphaston, being a progesterone hormone, may increase the morning
sickness. However, you must have been given duphaston for some specific
reason, so do not stop it without consulting your doctor.

Answer
Regarding your future pregnancy, start taking folic acid tablets- one
every day. Also, was your toxoplasmosis test done? Are your thyroid
hormones normal? Was a scan done during your pregnancy and did it show a
heart beat ? Once you plan to conceive, you can take certain medication
from around the 22nd day of the period and during the pregnancy to avoid
a miscarriage. Discuss with your obstetrician about that.

Have a vaginal smear done to determine the type of infection you have-
bacterial , fungal or trichomonial and take the appropriate treatment.
Question
About years ago i had a partial hysterectomy done while i still have my
overies i was wondering if it is normal for the back of the vaginal wall
where the uterus was should be opening up i have found 1 spot about 1/4
in in diamiter and it has caused cramping and slight bleeding after
intercourse, with this happening could i possibly get pregnant in my
stomach cavity since there is that small hole or is this just me being
scared i have a doctors appointment on the 26th of august please help me
with this
Answer
Relax! The bleeding maybe due to infection or granulation tissue
formed at the vaginal vault. Your gynec. must have found the reason . If
the problem persists, let me know.
Question
Hi, i had a misscarraige in feb, 2 years ago at 4 weeks (i didn't know i
was pregnant. then my husband and i started trying and got pregant in
june 04. i misscarried again at the beginning of aug.(they couldn't find
the babies heartbeat)the doctors said nothing was wrong with me, and to
try again. but ever since the misscarraige my periods are very
irregular. anywhere from 29 days to 39 days apart. the last one was 52!!
days. we are as a result not getting pregnant and it is very
frustrating. could there be something wrong with me or is there
something i can do to regulate my periods? i just don't understand why
it is so hard to get pregnant again since i have already been twice.
Thanks for listening.
Hope to hear from you soon
Answer
Sorry to hear about your miscarriages. Do you have PCO? This maybe
causing the irregular periods and anovulation. Are you ovulating by day
15 or 16 of the cycle? This can be determined by doing the clear plan
test. Also, have you done toxoplasmosis test and have your thyroid
hormones been checked? Start taking folic acid tablets. Let me know all
these and I can advice you further. Some doctors , like me, give certain
medication during the pregnancy to prevent another miscarriage. I am
sure with the right treatment you will have a baby soon !
Question
I am 24 just heard i have polycystic ovarian disease would that cause
kidney promblems i have not had a period for 7 months can iget after
vhaving a baby i never had any heatlh prombles befofe can you get it
from a c-section
Answer
Polycystic ovarian disease is present in 10-20 % of women. You must
have had it since adolescence , but was not detected earlier. Your
irregular periods can be due to polycystic ovaries. However, if you are
breast feeding, it is more likely due to that. C- section does not cause
PCOD.
Question
I am a 27 year old female with 3 children. I had a tubal ligation two
years age. I get horrible pains in my ovaries. Usualy the left side.
This has been on and off for over a year. During examination I was told
my ovary was enlarged. I had two ultrasounds and they were normal. I
tried taking two different types of birth control pills but they give me
sore breasts, nausea, headaches. I am always tired. My iron was checked
and it was 13. I have my period now and I just passed a clot the size of
a quarter. Is the clot normal. My periods are irregular and long
sometimes very heavy. Please help?
Answer
Sorry to hear about your pain. Do you have a fibroid in the uterus? This
could cause heavy periods. Also, do not let your period delay for long.
A bleeding after a delayed period is often heavy. You can take duphaston
tablets on the 35th day of the period whenever it is delayed. take one
tablet twice a day for 5 days. Also, if you pain persists, you should do
a laparoscopy to rule out endometriosis or adhesions which can cause the
pain. Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
I am having pcod for the past few months and now i am talking femilon
tablet to regularise will it regularise my periods.and how to reduce my
weight I am 20 years old and i am 75 kg and 5.4 in height.help me
Answer
Femilon may increase your weight slightly due to water retention.
Whenever you miss your period by 3-5 days , take duphaston tablets- one
tablet twice a day for 5 days to induce a period. This is better than
taking femilon every month for 21 days! Regarding your weight gain, see
a dietician who can advice you a good diet and exercise programme to
lose weight. Weight gain and irregular periods are common with PCO .All
the best !
Question
I am 38 years old. No medical probs. Is it ok for us to conceive/Do we
need to do any tests?
Answer
The incidence of certain fetal abnormalities increase after the age of
35 years. You can discuss these with your obstetrician before you
conceive.
Question
Hi...I would like to know if is ok to take cyclocapron while
breastfeeding...my periods are very heavy and I usually take them if I

Answer
Cyclokapron is safe during breast feeding.
Question
I'm a 36yr old female, I was 32 when I had to get
my uterus taken out but not my ovaries, due to a miscarriage ( 1
month-1/2 ) plus my uterus had drop dramatically..I have had multiple
sex partners in my life (5-6), the only thing I ever had was a yeast
infection as it was not a severe one (just burning sensation and a
little red on the virgina) at this moment I am having an amount of clear
discharge without smell nor any other colour of discharge. I have never
had any other infections in my life due to any STD's...I do find that it
irritates the skin of my virgina as well as a burning sensation, but
there is no smell at all, could it be that I have been drinking more
caffeine? or is there any other chemicals that would be the results of
this? What could it be? Do all STD's have a discoloration of discharge
or has bad odour? Since I do not have any odour or discoloration of
discharge as it is very clear...Thanks for your time and information...
Answer
Have a vaginal smear done which will determine the type of infection you
have- bacterial , fungal or trichomonial. Depending on the type of
infection, appropriate treatment can be taken. You can use travocort
ointment twice a day for 5 days externally to reduce your vulval
irritation.
Question
How many days is the safe sex after menstration?
During those period is it safe that the man´s sperm come inside the
woman?
Answer
This will vary from person to person and cycle to cycle It depends on when
you ovulate. Do let me know the last few dates of your periods, so I can
advice you further. However, this is always variable, and it would be
advisable to use some other form of contraception also.
Question
What could it be if your get a cyst on your vagina during your menstral
cycle and then it goes away after menstral cycle?
Answer
Do you mean a cyst on the vulva- labia? This maybe a Bartholin cyst
which can go away and recur. See your gynec. to determine what it is.
Question
On 7 day of my periods I had sex is there any chances of my becoming
pregnent.i consulted a doctor and she gave me tab.primolut and tab.
ferocid for 21 days. will this tab. terminate my pregnancy (if I am).
pls suggest me as me n my husband don't want a baby.
Answer
If you have very early cycles- every 22 days, then you could be
pregnant on day 7 of the period. Once you get a period you should take
some birth control pills to prevent a pregnancy. You can take gracial or
yasmin which would give minimal side- effects.
Question
I amd 36 , misscaraged first pregnance January this yaer ( 7 weeks , 5
days - obsoleta ) I had LMP 26 on June, had mu USG last week. The doctor
have found a functional cyst on right ovary and a very small pregnancy (
5 mm ). I have been monitoring my B-HCG regulary for last few weeks and
it is growing however the growth is very slow. At the moment 3720 (
basiscly glowing approx 10% every few days ). I was told that as long as
it keeps growing I should not worry too much .. however I do not
underestand the reason for slow growth. I am taking Luteina 3xday,
Duphaston 2Xday and 6 tablests of poor magnesium as well as folic daily.
What could be a reason and what else I could do to make help. ( during
last pregnancy my B-HCG was growing correctly until.. ) Thank you for
advise
Answer
You must have known by now how your fetus is. Hope it is growing well.
Usually, the beta hcg when repeated after 72 hours should be double the
previous value. Let me know what is happening, so I can advice your
further. All the best !
Question
Is it normal for a girl to have a bump inside of her vigina around the
time of her period? the bump doesnt hurt or noting its just there and if
put hot water on it it shrinks a little is that somethin to worry about?
Answer
Since it is not increasing in size and is disappearing, you do not
need to worry about it. However, it is not normal, so it would be
advisable to show it to a gynec. to determine its cause.
Question
I am 29 years old. I usually have a 21
day cycle every month. i have an IUD inserted 2.5 years ago. There was a
tingling sensation with pain 1 day prior to my menses. I am just
wondering is this due to the IUD. this month i am not getting my periods
and it has crossed 21 days and i dont have that tingling sensation due
to IUD. i am wondering if i could be pregnant.
Answer
By now you must have got a period. If not, do a urine test for
pregnancy like clear blue. The tingling sensation and pain prior to the
period are common, even without an IUD .
Question
I have for the past year been spotting in between periods and have been to
the gyne who did a pap smear and it came back normal, and he said
there's inflamation which is normal for sexually active healthy women or
with an intra uterin contraceptive. I haven't been active sexually for
almost a year until recently about two weeks ago and am not on
contraceptive. Whilst making love there was blood again and an
unpleasant smell, what is the problem with me? Please help.
Answer
Have a vaginal smear done to determine the type of infection you have
and take appropriate treatment. At the same time your cervix will be
examined and it will be determined whether you have a cervical erosion
or polyp. Both these can cause spotting after intercourse and in between
periods, Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
Hi, I am a 30 yr old mother of 4. After I gave birth to my youngest son on
Jan 6, 2005 I decided to get an IUD for birth control because I am in a
monogamous relationship my doctor said I was a good candidate for the
IUD. Last month after severe cramping and a couple trips to the er I
found out that I had a strep b infection and pelvic inflammatory
disease. According to my doctor, this was caused by the IUD, but for
some reason I have a feeling that because of the "in office"
"non-sterile" procedure I may have contracted a bacteria through the
placement of the IUD, which, in turn, concerns me to return to this
doctor again. Please tell me the possible causes of this and if my
hypotheses could be right. Thank you very much for your careful answer
to my question.
Answer
Vaginal infection and PID are common with an IUD. This can occur even
when the IUD has been inserted in " sterile " conditions. This is
because of the thread of the IUD which allows ascending infection . If
your infection does not respond to medication, it would be advisable to
remove it and opt for the pill.
Question
This is a long one sorry june 12th was a flow but a very light one, not
regular at all,i get a spotty bleed on july 9th and aug 2nd, i mean so

i went to the doctor and did one blood test back on july 8th it was neg.
i did urine test at the doctors also neg. then i went in and she did a
pap and an internal, she said i had an enlarged uterus, but could not
say it was pregnancy or fibroids. i have all the symptoms of pregnancy
but none for fibroids, rather than do an ultra sound she said that until
i get a positive pregnancy test they would not do an ultrasound,
something dont sound right there, then she said because i am 43 it
impossible to believe i could be pregnant, then suggested perimenopause,
even though i have no signs of it. which one of us is touched her or
me...i guess i am gonn! a have to wait this out and see what happens in
march, if it is a pregnancy i am due around the 19th of march. any
suggestions out there????
Answer
Relax! How was your last period in September? Did you repeat a urine
test in September ? Have you put on weight in the last few months and
have your thyroid hormones been checked ? Let me know, so I can advice
you further.
Question
We are Married since 4.5 year, but my wife is yet to conceive, she has
undgone laproscopy which says everything is normal, doctor have advised
siphene 100, she has completed 5 dose as of now. Doctor have how
suggested insemenation. My sperm report is - Count - 70 illions/ml
motility at the end of 1/2 hour 80%, 1 hr - 70%, 2 hrs 60%, 4 hrs -60% 6
hrs 45%, Leucocytes 4-6%, What are the chances that she will be
successful on insemenation, how many times we need to try insemenation
techniques, and what is the next course of action after insemination.
I had earlier also posted this matter at your site, but somehow i am not
able to trace my question from the huge list of queries posted by people
at your site. jepson
Answer
Have your wife's fallopian tubes been checked? What was the response
to siphene? This would be known by ultrasound. Ultrasound is essential
while on siphene , as this would determine when the eggs are forming and
indicate the most fertile period. Insemination would help and the
success rate of that is between 20-30 %. All the best!
Question
Dear doctor,
My husband sperm is mucoid iwanted to hv second child now it is 5yrs
since no child. my hormone all is normal.recently 3ys befor i underwent
fibroid surgery. after that i conceived recently and got aborted after 3
months. baby was not growing properly and it was a weak baby.kindly
advise what should i do iam 34 yrs old and my husband is 35yrs old.
Answer
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I need to know your husband's
semen count, motility. Also, did the baby not show any heart activity
from the beginning or was it o.k. in the beginning and then stopped
growing? Were your toxoplasmosis and blood sugar test done? What were
the results? Let me know all these, so I can advice you further.
Question
I am in the middle of my cycle and have experienced heavy bleeding for
about a day, I also had lower back pain and mild stomac cramps. I have
been on the the pill for about eight years and i have never had anything
like this before?
Answer
Were you off the pill when you had the bleeding and cramps? In that
case, this would have been ovulation bleeding and pain during ovulation
at mid- cycle. If you were on the pill , the question of ovulation does
not arise unless you had missed a pill. If the problem recurs. , have a
vaginal examination done to rule out vaginal and cervical infection or a
polyp. Let me know , so I can advice you further.
Question
Hi There, Since having my child six years ago, I have teribble lower
abdominal pain around the fertile time, my back stiffens, my muscles
tense and I get very light headed and tired this lasts for around a
week. I have been to my doctor and have been put on antidepressants and
diagnosed the IBS i don't thinks its this but I don't really want to
back and question him please help.
Your advice will be much appreciated.
Regards
Charley
Answer
Abdominal pain during mid- cycle is due to ovulation, but should be
present only for 1-2 days. Has your ultrasound been done? Ovarian
cysts, specially endometriotic cysts, can cause pain from ovulation till
the time of the period. Let me know the results of the ultrasound, so I
can advice you further.
Question
Dr, I am a 30yr old female married
for 2 yrs.I have had regular periods since i attained menarchy with
ovulation pain exactly two weeks preceding my period.I underwent MTP one
and a half years ago after which I was on oral contraceptives till 4mths
ago when I had to stop them due to severe allergy for which i was put in
steroids.I have been off steroids for the last three months now. My
cycles were regular though i noticed that the flow had decreased. My
lasts menstural period was on 24th June thereafter which I had
amenorrhoea for three weeks I took progesterones for three days,10 days
after which I have started with my period.Since the last two months i
have been also suffering from acne. USG done revealed multiple cysts in
the ovaries and a diag of PCOD was made.I am very disturbed thereafter.
What are the tests you recommend for confirmation of the diagnosis? Will
I be able to conceive normally without any treatment? Can this disorder
be reversed? Does it progr! ess with age? For how much time will i have
to be on treatment?
Answer
PCOD occurs in 20-30 % of women and cannot be reversed. If you are
ovulating , you can conceive without treatment. If you are not, you may
require some medication like clomid to induce ovulation. You can do
blood tests like FSH, LH and testosterone on day 3 of the cycle. Let me
know the results, so I can advice you further. Relax! Millions of women
with PCOD have children!
Question
Good day doctor
After normal vaginal delivery at8nov 2004 ,i complained from
dysfunctional utrine bleeding, treated by primolut 5mg 3 time daily for
21days 5days off for 4 courses the 1st one followed by normal cycle but

for 7to10days stopped with the help of mefenamic acid 500-250mg tid,all
ultasound was normal for your kind advice because i tired &depressed
from the menstrual cycle thank you
Answer
Are you breast- feeding yet? This could also be one of the reasons for
irregular periods. Since this problem is persisting, have your thyroid
hormones checked. If they are abnormal, take the appropriate treatment.
If they are normal, you should use oral contraceptives like gracial or
yasmin for 5-6 cycles. This may help to regularise your periods.
Question
Hi Doctor I am 27years and am dignistnose with polysistic overy. my
question is whot is the most fast and efficient cure and what are my
chances of having children. Iwould so much loke to have children
Answer
Polycystic is a condition which occurs in 10-20 % of women. It would
never go away. You can have children with PCO , so don't worry.
Depending on your symptoms like irregular periods, infertility,
hirsutism ( excessive hair growth), you will require treatment.
Question
H ru doctor? Doctor i like ur answers which shows ur very good in Gyne and
i also heard ur name in TV also.
Actaully doctor i have periods problem.I m 25 year old unmarried girl
and i have high serum prolactin level means its upto 80 ng/ml.Three year
before i took Dopergin for one month then i got normal periods but after
few month again i had irregular periods so again i took dopergin for one

guide me what should i do? My bad habits are late night study and worng
time eating. Are they reasons of stress and high prolactin? Please answer
me in my email address.
Answer
Prolactin is a hormone which is often high in many women. Has your
skull x-ray or MRI been done to rule out any tumour in the brain. This
can cause a high prolactin. Stress can be a reason for the increased
prolactin. So, try to relax. Otherwise, you will need to monitor your
prolactin level every 2-3 months and whenever it is high take dopergin
tablets.
Question
I have a white discharge I can be
walking and it just comes out some times it is a thick milky white and a
week ago it was clear little brownish white and it had a little blood in
it and it has a odor I can clean myself out and it will be back in a day
or two please help
Answer
This seems like fungal infection. Use canesten vaginal pessaries- one
at night for 6 nights. If the problem persists, use sporanox capsules- 2
in the morning and 2 at night. Your partner should also take the
sporanox capsules at the same time. The clear discharge with blood could
have been due to ovulation (if it was during the mid- cycle).

Answer
You do need to have an ultrasound done to rule out any fibroids or an
ovarian cysts. Let me know the result , so I can advice you further.
Also, have your hemoglobin checked and ,if low, take some iron tablets
like fefol or ferose.
Question
I am 21 yrs old, i was on the pill for about 2 years, and i stopped, i was
having farily regular periods, but all of a sudden i would have 1 then 2
months later have another, i havent had one for about 6 months, but i
have been very active and under tremendous stress, however i did have
intercourse 3 times during that time...is it possible to be pregannt
even though not having periods...
Answer
You can get pregnant even if there has not been a period as you could
have had a late ovulation. Check your urine for pregnancy test ( like
clear blue). If it is negative take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice
a day for 5 days to get a period. Stress can cause irregular periods.
However, have an ultrasound done to rule out any ovarian cyst , which
can cause irregular periods.
Question
I am 34 years old woman suffering from depression. Married since one year.
Can I conceive after laperoscopy myomectomy of my Fibroids?
Answer
How many fibroids do you have and what are their sizes? Also, are your
fallopian tubes patent. If your tubes are patent and the fibroids are
small, you can conceive naturally and would not even require a
myomectomy. Let me know the result of your scan , so I can advice you
further.
Question
Greetings Doctor,
Is it necessary that for the first time when you do sex with your
husband, blood comes..is this only the sign of virginity?
Answer
DSome women have an elastic hymen which does not bleed during the
first intercourse. Examination of the hymen by a gynec. will reveal
whether it has been broken or not.
Question
I found out i had a PID. I had culture done and
no bacteria growth. I also found out while being treated for this with
medication I am newly Pregnant for my 3rd child. Is this a problem? I
have had history of PID, being my second case in 10 years. WIll I be
considered a high risk Pg? WIll antibotics be bad for the baby?
Answer
When you say PID, do you know which specific infection it is ? How was
it diagnosed? By itself, PID rarely causes any problems for the fetus.
The antibiotics can be given to you keeping in mind that you are
pregnant, so there should be no problem.
Question
Hi Doctor
What is regular period mean. As I'm getting my periods every month & my
cycle is 28 days but sometimes my period comes in 25 days, 27 days or 24
days. is it regular
Answer
A regular period is one which comes every 25-30 days. Your seems
regular, so stop worrying. There will always be a variation of 2-3 days
on either side of the period date.
Question
I am 34 yrs old and trying to concieve,,i had my tubes untied after 8
years,,,and i am obese (300),,,i have normal periods and im tracking my
ovulation days ,,but 7 months have gone by since the reversal and im
still not pregnant,,is there a problem here?
Answer
Have you done an HSG (hystero- salpingogram) to check whether your
tubes have remained patent after the surgery? Also, what is your
husband's semen count and have you done a PCT( post- coital test ). Let
me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
I am 23 and sexual active, and I have protected sex and am also on birth
control. A week ago i noticed two small skin like growths on the outside
of my vagina near my anus. I have no syptoms of anything except there
existance. Can this be an STD or cyst? I was last tested for Vanerial
Diseases and AIDS a few months ago and everything came out fine. What
can this be?
Answer
This seems like anal warts. You must see your doctor to determine what
they are and take appropriate treatment.
Question
Dear doc, I just would like to ask
is it a problem to use tampons every time I have my period, even though
I'm trying to fall pregnant? thanx
Answer
Tampons will not affect your chances of pregnancy directly. However,
there is a chance of vaginal infection with tampons, specially when left
in for a long time when there is less bleeding. TSS ( toxic shock
syndrome ) can occur sometimes, which is a serious condition.
Question
I am a 40 year old woen and at the end
of myperiod's i notice the changing of the color it start's tunrning a
really dark brown colr and i was wondering what that could b could u
give me some insight of what it might b
Answer
During the first few days you may have red blood. As the amount of
blood reduces you could have dark brown or black blood . This is normal,
so don't worry. However, if the bleeding is persisting for more than 7-8
days, then let me know.
Question
I am 8 weeks pregnant.Couple days,I
had brown discharge, now it's turn to red.Is it mc?Please Help.
Answer
If you are pregnant and bleeding, you are having a threatened abortion
or have an ectopic pregnancy. Have an ultrasound done, to find the cause
of the bleeding. If the bleeding recurs, let me know the result of the
ultrasound and I can advice you further.
Question
I am 26 yrs old and had been undergone twice missed abortions. Hence,
doctor suggested me to undergo certain tests like blood test,
hysteroscopy , chromosomal etc and found my ACA level is bit elevated ie
10 GPLU. Hence she advised as precautionary to take a calcium tablet (shelcal
500mg), folic acid and Iron tablet (Ferox). I am planning to get
pregnant after two months. My husband also gone through all the test and
is normal. Doctor advised that once i get pregnant i need to be under
medication ie daily a Aspirin, Heparin injections.
My question is, with the mentioned above detail.. pls let me know the
chances/rate of successful pregnancy with treatment. Do I need to
undergo any other tests before getting pregnant. Pls advice.. I am
scared for my future..
Answer
Relax ! You will require aspirin in the next pregnancy. The low- dose
aspirin ( 75-81 mgms) is absolutely safe. Whether you require heparin or
not will have to be determined by your doctor. Some of us also give
cyclogest vaginal pessaries or duphaston tablets during the first 12
weeks of pregnancy. All the best !
Question
I used a tampon yesterday for the
firstime in many many years. Later on that evening my leg started to
feel numb and like if I had little pins in it. Is that a sign of TSS. Or
could that have been caused by something else?
Answer
TSS causes fever, chills, diarrhoea and muscle aches. I doubt that
this feeling of numbness is due to tampons. If any other problem occurs,
see your gynec.
Question
Doctor I have had three failed
pregnancies, missed abortions. I have just gone through one and am
devastated. I was on duphaston during my last which came out at 11
weeks. I am 41yrs old and real worried that the clock is against me..
Why do you think this keeps on happening to me? and please give me some
advice on what I can do. Thank You
Answer
Sorry to hear about your miscarriages.I need some more details of all
your pregnancies, so I can advice you further. Was the heart beat of the
fetus present initially and then absent? Did you start duphaston in the
luteal phase of the cycle( from day 22 of the period) and then continue
it throughout the 12 weeks? What is the result of your toxoplasmosis
test, thyroid tests and blood sugar? I am sure with the right treatment
you should have a baby !

Relax ! Stress also can cause some cycle abnormalities. Have your
thyroid hormones checked and an ultrasound done to determine if any
problem in these is causing the scanty periods.
Question
I have a healthy daughter 3 years old. My pregnancy was easy and I
developed pre- Eclampsia in the end with her. 3 years later we tried for
another child and again I became pregnant. I want to first mention that
I was under alot of stress in my new home in a different country. The
pregnancy didnt feel right from the beginning. I started bleeding at 9
weeks, but it continued. I was constantly sleepy and having a sick
feeling until the day they told me I have no water on my baby. I
delivered a son pre-term at 25 1/2 weeks on February 16th. Then again I
became pregnant after 1 period. It stayed for 8 weeks until hemorraging
caused me to take a D&C on May 15th. 2 months later I am pregnant again
now I am in the 5th week, and I want to use Cyclogist because my
progesterone has never been checked and I feel more comfortable trying
to keep my pregnancies with Cyclogist. I am in the middle east now and
these Doctors dont beleive in "interferring with what god wants". My!
Question is do you think it is safe for me to take the progesterone
anally to prevent another miscarriage.I have taken the medicinie only
one day, and felt really good when I woke up today.
Also my husband has some concern about us having sex with all of our
problems..
Thank you for your help.
Answer
Hope your pregnancy is fine. Cyclogest is safe and I think you should
use it till 12 weeks of pregnancy. I would also advice you to use low-
dose aspirin ( 75 or 81 mgms) till 34 weeks of pregnancy. Keep me
informed about your pregnancy. All the best !
Question
how long after unprotected sex would a pregnacy test detect preg?
Answer
A urine test for pregnancy ( clear blue ) will be positive 15 days
after conception. So you can do it 15 days after the unprotected
intercourse.
Question
Ma,
I started my last menstruation on the 28th of June 2005 and ended it on
the 1st of July 2005 and since then have not seen it. So i went for
ultra scan in which says the baby was not found in the sac, whereas the
urine pregnancy test say it is positive, the hemoglobin is 12.7g/100ml
and my pcv is 38%. My uterus is 59mm AP 68mm,PS or TS 92mm LS,
Endometrium is 20mm,ovary is normal Adnexa is normal. So what is
happening to me because i do have pains underneath my abdomen?
Answer
By now, you must be knowing whether the pregnancy has grown or not.
Sometimes when there is a late conception , the pregnancy test will be
positive , and the ultrasound will show the pregnancy later than 6
weeks. If nothing is still seen within the uterus, an ectopic pregnancy
should be ruled out.
Question
Hello,
I am 17 years old and I have always had very irregular periods (since
age 11). The most regular cycle I have had has been around 45 days. I
have never had sex, but have had some sexual contact (although never
vaginal penetration). I have not had my period for over two months (this
has happened to me a few times before, I actually went for 10 weeks
without a period before). I am very stressed out and I am told this is a
contributing factor to irregular periods. I am experiencing some slight
pink discharge, but I have had this during my "regular" cycles before.
Should I be tested for something? Should I get a prenancy test although
I have never had intercourse? I am starting to get worried that there is
something wrong with me.
Answer
Do a pregnancy test to confirm that you are not pregnant. The pink
discharge maybe your period. Do you have PCO ( Polycystic ovaries )?
This is associated with irregular periods.
Question
Is it possible to ovulate from a normal ovary that has a blocked fallopian
tube? My right ovary and right fallopian is all right, however my left
tube is blocked with a normal left ovary.
Answer
You can ovulate from the left ovary, but since the left tube is
blocked, you would not conceive when you ovulate from the left side. You
should have an ultrasound done every month on day 11 of the period to
see whether you are ovulating from the right or left ovary and plan
accordingly.
Question
I used canesten pessary i finished my treatment 2 days ago but still have
a discharge of the actual tablet now is this common and when wil it stop
Answer
Sometimes the pessary takes a long time to dissolve completely, but it
should not be more than 5-6 days.
Question
I had a laprascopy done to drain chocolate cysts & then I had two doses of
Zoladex 3.6 to curb Endometriosis. Last shot was taken on 14th June. Now
it has been 2 months and I still have'nt got my menses. I have put on
weight and my wrists hurt like hell, always a bit swollen n tender.
Apart from this no pain.
Please help as i was wish to get my menses soon ...
Answer
You should have got a period by now. if not, do a urine test for
pregnancy. If it is negative, take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a
day for 5 days to get a period. Weight gain may have been due to the
Zoladex, but I do not think the wrist tenderness is related to that. See
your doctor if the pain persists.
Question
I have always had vaginal odor that
I think is stronger than other women. I wash with feminie wash and tried
different soaps, basically tried everything, but it is so hard for me to
stay fresh down there. I get routine check ups at the gyno so I know
that I do not have an infection. Are there any things I should or
shouldn't do? Any remedies that might help this?
Answer
Since there is no infection and you seem to be doing so many things
about it , stop worrying. Does anyone around you complain of the odour.
If not, you maybe very sensitive about it , so stop worrying. You can
use gynoflor vaginal pessaries once a month for 6 nights. This may help
restore the normal vaginal flora and prevent further infection.
Question
I HAVE BEEN HAVING A BROWN VAGINAL DISCHARGE FOR A LONG TIME IT WILL GO
AWAY FOR A DAY OR TWO AND COME RIGHT BACK IT ALSO HAS A FOUL SMELL IF I
DOUCH IT WILL GO AWAY FOR A DAY.
Answer
Have a vaginal smear done as this will determine the type of vaginal
infection you have and which treatment will be appropriate for you. A
pelvic examination at that time will also reveal whether you have a
cervical polyp or an erosion, which can also cause the brown discharge.
Question
At around 9-10 years old, due to ill fitting underwear, the 'lips' within
my vagina used to be irritated and became red and swollen. I am now 18
and the labia now 'poke out' and are a dull grey colour, as is the area
above the urethra. I also experience thick cloudy discharge everyday,
and thought this normal until talking to a friend. Should I get this
checked out or is it too late?
Answer
Regarding the discharge, this maybe fungal. Use sporanox capsules- 2
capsules in the morning and 2 at night. If you also wish to use vaginal
pessaries, use canesten pessaries for 6 nights. regarding the " grey "
labia, you will have to show a gynec.
Question
I am going to use clomid (50g) from my next cycle from 5-9 days. is this
pill only work for one month. in case if i didn't get pregmant, should i
be using another 5 pills for next month? or the previous 5 pills will
work for a certain months? if i use this pill, which are the days i
should have sex? by the way my cycle is 29-33 days. after using this
pill when (which day of th cycle) should i get tested myself and what
are the tested i should get? could you please give me answers for this
questions? i am married for 2 years and desperately looking forward to
my pregnancy day. i been with GP. They have done a blood test and said
nothing wrong. To see whether i am ovulate which day of my menses cycle
get tested/ looking forward to your reply.
Answer
You must be monitored by ultrasound while on clomid. This will
determine your most fertile period, depending on the size of the
follicle. Also, ovarian enlargement is common with clomid, so an
ultrasound will ensure that the ovaries are not getting enlarged. Also,
what is your husband's semen report? Have your fallopian tubes been
checked? Let me know, so I can advice you further.
Question
Hi, i have pcos and my period came 4 times a year. early this year, i did
a laparoscopy to remove polyps. my gynae shed the womb lining for
bioscopy becos it is thick. currently i m on clomid and metformin. this
round, my period 4 days earlier but is worry me becos i had brown
discharges for 7 days. (no bleeding at all) the doctor put me on
progynova and puregon for 3 days, metformin to be continue till the day
i get pregnant and clomid during day 2 to day 6. i was wandering does
metformin, clomid and puregon resulted in having brown discharge. my
womb lining is very very thin. is there any food at i can take to
improve the womb lining. progynova and puregon does not help
Answer
None of the drugs taken should cause brown discharge. Clomid may cause
scanty periods, so if the brown discharge is only at the time of the
periods, stop worrying about that. There is no food that can change the
lining of the uterus. You said the womb lining was thick, so you had a
d& c done and now it is very thin. Have a scan done on day 5 or 6 of the
period and let me know what the thickness of the lining is at that time,
so I can advice you further.
Question
We been married now for 3years, we would like to have kids we do physical
examination and normal they said needs to relax. We would like to
consult to a specialist for this matter. TY
Answer
You can check whether you are ovulating or not by doing a clear plan
test ( which is available in pharmacies). Have your husband's semen
report done and let me know the report, together with your ovulation
pattern so I an advice you further.
Question
I am not one to like to go to
doctors to much. I noticed a small knot on the inner part of my right
thigh about 2months ago. I thought it was a flea or mosqeto bite or from
shaving. Now it has grown biger and moved up to the outer side of my
vagina area on the right side. It hurts very bad and is very inflamed
and bright pink. I am confused as to what this can even be. I have been
married for 10 years and my husband and I are faithful to each other, we
are a very church going family. I guess I was hoping before I have to
force myself to see a doctor maybe you would have some clue as to what
this might be. To let you know there is no type of head on this at all.
I kept thinking if I could just squeeze it and release the presure it
won't hurt anymore. I guess I am more scared then anything. I am 34
years old and have 4 children. I would be grateful for any help that
your willing to give me. I will realize that it isn't a definite answer
just a sugestion.
Thank You in Advance
Answer
Relax! It probably is a skin abscess (boil). Use bactroban or
soframycein skin ointment twice a day for 5 days. If it does not settle,
see a doctor who can determine what it is and give you antibiotics
orally , if required.
