Hello, i am 25, and last month started my period and it was only 3 days long, now when i had sex during it, it just stoped,is that normal? i have been very sick to my stomach sinse then, so about 1 1/2 weeks, i do have a bladder infection, but doc questioned pregnancy with my side affects, took urine test came out negative, but my doc, says if im not far enough along it wont show and i need a blood test,is this right? please let me, know thank you

You are unlikely to conceive on the third day of the period. Was that period at the
expected time or was it delayed? One does have some bleeding when one is ovulating,
so ovulation bleeding can be mistaken for a period. Urinary infection and pelvic infection can occur when one has intercourse during periods. If you have not got a period one month after the actual bleeding, repeat the urine test.

Recently while having sex, my fiance "missed" my vagina and ended up pushing my labia minora away in the opposite direction resulting in a signiticant tear between the labia majora and minora. it bled for a while but after a day it has stopped bleeding and seems to be healing. my question is, is this something that will heal on its own, (i mean it has stopped bleeding) or do i need to see a doctor about stitches?

If it has stopped bleeding and you do not see any large area of the tear, it may heal  without stitches. Use soframycein skin cream twice a day for 5 days to prevent any  infection.

Hi! i am 26 year old married in december 2004. i had irregular periods before marriage i went to a gynec and he asked me to take vitamins.and thn my periods were regular but .just before my mrg again my periods went irregular so he prescribed diane 35..i continued it for 4 months..my periods were regular after tht..but now its been around 41 days i haven't had my periods yet.we still have oral sex so i don't think there is any possibility of pregnancy..i am really worried.. kindly guide me.thanx in advance

Have you had an ultrasound done? Do you have polycystic ovaries? That is associated
with irregular periods. Let me know the result of the scan. If you have not got a period,
you can take duphaston tablets- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period.

Both my overies are Polycystic. I conseived with Siphene sometime in Nov 2004 but had a miscaarriage in Jan 2005. After that I do not ovulate with any medicine like Letroz, Syphene. I was given 5 inj of Gonal F but it did not lead to pregnancy. Later I underwent Laproscopy, DNC and Overian drilling and was diagonised having endometriosis. Now I am on duphastone. My question is:
1) Doctor has asked me to take duphastone for 6 months. Is it fine?
2) I am not ovulating when on duphastone. Why?

Duphaston is a progesterone tablet which does not induce ovulation. How are you
taking the duphaston ? Is it continuously or only from day 20 of the period for 10 days You can conceive and should be pregnant with the right treatment. The dose of siphene can be increased to three tablets a day and injection gonal f can be given in case you do not ovulate with that alone. However, close ultrasound monitoring should be done to
ensure that your ovaries are not getting enlarged. On laparoscopy, are both your tubes
patent? Are there any adhesions around your tubes? What is your husband's semen
count? Let me know all this, so I can advice you further. All the best !

Do you have a fibroid in the uterus? If your bleeding has not yet stopped and your urine test is negative, you can take dicynone or cyclokapron tablets- one tablet three times a day for 5 days to stop the bleeding. If the problem recurs and your scan is normal, have your thyroid hormones and prolactin hormones checked and let me know the results. Stop worrying, you should soon be pregnant. Once you are let me know immediately, so I can advice you accordingly , to try and avoid another miscarriage.

Mine is a regular 30 day cycle! sometimes it extends. I was supposed to have my periods start on 29-7-05 today is 2-8-05. I used a prgnancy test device and tested my Urine, the result was negative!!
I would like to know if pregnancy can be detected by urine test after 10-15 days of conceivig.

If you use a test like clear blue, pregnancy can be detected 15-16 days after conception. However, sometimes, one may not ovulate on the 15th day of the cycle and therefore the urine test may come positive later. It is advisable to do a urine test one  week later also , to confirm that there was no conception due to a delayed period.

It is difficult to tell you what it is without seeing it . If it is bluish in colour and you also
have varicose veins, it is likely to be varicosities of the vulva. In that case, you do not
need to do anything further , as it would reduce after delivery. if it is increasing, you
should see your obstetrician .

I am 20 years old and I only have sex with my partner for the past 3 years. I have a vaginal discharge that smells very much like lead from a pencil every once in awhile, also when I'm on my menstrual (period). You need to do a vaginal smear to determine the type of infection you have- fungal.
bacterial or trichomonial. This may have been missed during your pap smear. Also, have your urine culture and sensitivity test done as this will determine if you have an urinary infection and what would be the best treatment for that. The difference in the size of the labia is nothing to be worried about.

Necon can cause breast enlargement and congestion. The amount of congestion and enlargement is different in different women . It maybe associated with an overall  increase in weight. I presume you are not taking it with the idea of enlarging the breast , but as an oral contraceptive.

One can get pregnant with HPV. HPV infection is usually asymptomatic .It would not delay a period. By itself, HPV will not prevent pregnancy, unless there has been any
associated infection which could cause blockage of the tubes .

By now you must have got a period. If not, do a urine test and let me know the result.
Some of the medications like postinor can increase the chances of a miscarriage or  abnormalities in the fetus. If you have had a period, I suggest you use an oral  contraceptive like gracial or yasmin from the first day of the next cycle,as the  contraceptive method.

Hello Doctor, I have a very very dark brown discharge and i am wondering if i should be alarmed. I am sexually active and a couple of weeks ago i took antibiotics for a yeast infection. my last period lasted basically the whole month of july. it was very light at first and then it picked up and slowed down again. Antibiotics and the associated infection that you may have had can cause some cycle
changes. Also, if you were pregnant and were having a threatened abortion ( bleeding during pregnancy), the bleeding would be dark. Do a pregnancy test and rule out a  pregnancy. If the problem occurs again, have an ultrasound done to rule out an ovarian
cyst.

PCO is present in 10-20 % of women and with the right treatment, you can conceive.
Clomid is safe and does not cause any abnormalities in the fetus. However, ultrasound
monitoring of the follicles(eggs) must be done when clomid is taken . This is to  determine when you are ovulating and that your ovaries are not getting enlarged. The only risks of clomid are multiple births(twins or triplets), but this also can be prevented by monitoring the number of eggs formed. Let me know your husband's semen report.
Also, have your tubes been checked ? Let me know , so I can advice you accordingly. All the best !

Unless you do a pregnancy test , you will not know whether you are pregnant or not.
There are many other reasons for a delayed period also. If you still have not got a

I suppose to do frozen ET end Aug and the problem is last Oct, the doc did laparoscopy and found small fibroid at fundus but did not operate, but now i hv cyst in left womb, shld i continue with my frozen embryo transfer. A small fibroid will not interfere with conception. You said you have a cyst in the left
womb- I presume you mean left ovary. That also, will not reduce your chances of
conception. You can go ahead with the embryo transfer. However, to prevent another
miscarriage, I would advice certain medication like cyclogest and jusprin immediately
after the embryo transfer. Also, what was your beta- hcg test when you were pregnant,
and on what day after the embryo transfer was that done? Do let me know , so I can
advice you further.

I previously had a bleeding cyst which was detected when my period came & it was old/dark. With my past few menstral cycles, I am cramping fairly hard but my period doesn't want to come. What did you mean by " bleeding cyst " ? Was it a cyst in the ovary which ruptured and had blood in it ? Have you had an ultrasound done ? That would reveal if you have a
fibroid. Since you have a history of breast cancer, have you had a mammogram done?
This would rule out breast cancer, so you can stop worrying. Do let me know the result
of the scan and the mammogram.

The milky white discharge could be due to fungal vaginal infection. You can use
canesten vaginal pessaries for 6 nights. If the problem persists, see your gynec.
