Question:

Hi im 22 years old and i had a miscarraige at the end of april. i bleed for 7 days while miscarring and was told my period would return with in 4-6 weeks.

On 2nd june i had a lot of pain in lower stomach and back and bleed for 2 days with clots. Doctor said it may not of been a period but a infection so treated me with antibiotics and all bleeding and pain did stop.

If this was the case when will my periods return as it will be coming close to 8 weeks.

Please help as im becoming a little worried many thanks
kelly

Answer

I think the bleeding you had on june 2nd. must have been your period. There may have been infection also, so antibiotics were given. Now, do a urine test for pregnancy . If it is negative, take duphaston- one tablet twice a day for 5 days to get a period. If positive, let me know , so I can advice you accordingly.

Question:

I have a history of infertility and miscarriages. I have conceived and my Doctor has put me on Duphaston (dydrogesteone) 10 mg tablets 1 x 2. I am worried about the likely side effects to my unborn child and myself. Please give me some information on its likely side effects to myself and my unborn baby

Thank You Doctor for your time.

Answer

Duphaston is safe in pregnancy and may reduce the chances of miscarriage. I also give some other medication to reduce the miscarriage chances. If you are in Oman you can see me -(no. 24563181).Have a scan done at 6 weeks to determine that the fetal heart beat is present. All the best !

Question:

hello,
i am 32 year old lady, i have been trying to get pregnant now for 6 months. recently, i happened to get some serious itching in my v. area, with some milky discharge and my vigina became so terribly sensitive/tender. sex has since then been uncomfortable. then, just 6 days before my period (i was expecting my period on 6 jun, instead on 1 jun) i woke up and noticed a pinkish spot in my pants. it was very small, so i just put some pantliner. then it increased a bit, but always slightly pink and it then increased more. my vigina increased in sensitivity so wearing a pad was really uncomfortable and sitting was a problem. to add on all that, i started getting headaches that were not going. i got quite some lightheadness too. then i got some very serious fatigue. at first i thought i had finally got pregnant and this was implantation bleeding and i was getting all these signs. this bleeding lasted 7 days, but it was not as heavy as the usual period. i only used 4 pads,!

which were never really full anyway - normally i would use alot more, and my period is very regular. so i decided to take a home pregnancy test, i got a negative. now i am exepecting my period on 28 jun, since the last one was on 1 jun. i still have headaches but none of the other signs anymore. what is happening to me? i am terribly disillusioned about all this mess. please help me.
thank you

Answer

Relax! If you have not yet got a period, do a pregnancy test. If positive, let me know. Also, have your hemoglobin done to determine whether you are anaemic as this maybe giving you the fatigue. Also do you have an erosion or polyp on your cervix? This may give you the discharge and spotting. You can use betadine vaginal pessaries to reduce the infection.

Question:

I have been getting a regular period since i was 11, i am now 18. In the last 3-4 months i have been gettin severe stomach pain. the pain normally goes away during my period. i saw my doctor and had blood tests and unltasounds and nothing came back abnormal. Shortly after I got my period, on the last day of it my boyfriend and i had intercoarse and the condom broke, i saw my doctor again and she gave me the morning after pill. my period was normal and ended the next day, however, one week later i have been experiencing a brown to sometimes dark dark red discharge from my vagina,it is of a weird texture with like 'snotty' particles in it and small clumps, it has so far lasted 3 days, tomorrow being the forth, It has no destinct smell and i have little pain from it. The pain i was having for 3-4 months previously has stopped, but this has begun. DO u think it is antying serious?

Answer

If your pain is just after ovulation ( around day 16 ) and lasts till your period, you maybe having endometriosis . The pain may also be because you ovulate. Also, do you have constipation or urinary infection? Both of these may give you pain. The bleeding you have had is irregular because of the morning after pill. However, if it is 2 weeks since the day the condom broke, do a urine pregnancy test .

Question:

Dear doc,
Since i had spotting after IUI, and blood test shows negative, however, i don't get any heavy period since my last period in April. Doc did ultrasound and inner scan for me, and found that tne embryo still in my womb. And she is now giving me Provera and Progynova for 10 days. And she said if period still don't come after this, i need to do D&C. Does negative blood test means i am not pregnant?

Answer

Sorry, I am confused! You said the blood test is negative. So , how are you pregnant? Let me know the blood test and scan report in detail. Also, when was IUI done, blood test done and scan done ?

Question:

I am 36 years old recently marriaged to my husband who has no kids (I have one who's 18 now). We have been trying for about 2 years now to get pregnant. I have irregular periods, which means I may only have two or three a year. This really bothers me because how am I to get pregnant. My doctor two times now have given me pills to start my periods. It works but the next few months nothing again. When I do have my period it is very painful. I've been through several tests. My doctor peformed the test where he went through my belly to see what's going on inside. Well I do have fibroids and my uteris is enlarged. I also had the test where they shot die through my tubes. One of my tubes are blocked but my doctor say's I can still get pregnant. My husband has a low sperm count and working with his doctor. I work out regular and have changed my diet because we really are trying to get pregnant. No matter how hard and how long I've worked out because of my enla!

rged uteris it already looks like I'm pregnant. I know a few women who had the same problem and got rid of the fibroids. I would like to visit another doctor but don't know what kind. Please advise if I am going through menopause, if I am able to still get pregnant, please direct me in the next direction. Thank you for hearing my problems. I have been really concerned and I am not giving up without knowing of other options.

Answer

first of all, do blood tests- FSH and LH on day 2 of the cycle. This will let us know how your ovaries are functioning and what medication you will require for ovulation since you have irregular periods. Also, every cycle, you will require to see which side your ovulation is occurring . You should try for a pregnancy only in the month your ovulation on the side of the patent tube. Let me know your husband's semen report in detail and the medication he is taking. Also, you have not mentioned whether you are ovulating or not. This can be determined by ultrasound. Don't worry about the fibroids. They do not reduce your chances of pregnancy.

Question:

what can i do to get pregnant if my cycles are irregular.

Answer

Do a clear plan test to determine when you are ovulating. This is available in a pharmacy. If you are not ovulating, do blood tests - serum FSH,LH and Prolactin on day 2 of your cycle and let me know the result.

Question:

i am 31 years old and have been married for 2.5 years. my husband is 38. we r childless. i have been diagnosed with polycystic overies and have been taking glucophage 500mg thrice a day for the past 6 months. my husband has low sperm motility. he has not been given any medication. i have taken prolifen for 3 months and the ultrasound report indicated ovulution occuring but i didnt concieve. the doc is now recommending ivi. another recommended laproscopy. i dont know what to do. for one thing i am fed up of taking medicines. taking prolifen was not a pleasent experience and my periods this time were also very painful. what do u suggest?

Answer

Since you want a pregnancy you should not get fed up !! Since both you and your husband have some problem, it may take some time and treatment is required. The pain is probably due to ovulation- so it is normal. You can take cataflam during your periods to relieve the pain. Also, have your tubes been checked? You can do a hysterosalpingography for that if you do not want to got through surgery . Let me know your husband's semen report in detail , so I can decide what medication he may require. Without prolifen you may not ovulate, so it is essential to continue with that. Also, let me know the number of follicles you form with prolifen and on what day of the cycle they reach 20 mm.

Question:

hello,
i am 16 and my menstraul cycle is not reular. i often skip a whole month without it.Also after my period i sometimes have this creamy discharge and i wanted to know if it is some kind of infection. thank you

Answer

Have an ultrasound done and let me know the result. You may have polycystic ovaries or a cyst in the ovary which gives you irregular periods. Regarding your discharge, you probably have fungal infection. You can use diflucan tablet- one at night as a single dose.

Question:

good a.m, i am 2 months pregnant and the doctor gave duphaston 10mg daily as my medication because i complained for stomach cramps. she said that it may be threatened abortion, that is why she gave me duphaston to hold my pregnancy. how safe is this? are there no side effects for my baby like deformities nd cognitive diabilities? when should i stop taking this? i don't have stomach cramps anymore.

Answer

Duphaston is safe in pregnancy and is not known to cause any deformities. I usually give it till 12 weeks of pregnancy. However, you should do an ultrasound (if it has not yet been done )to determine that the fetus is within the uterus and is growing well.

What is your semen report? Also, have you done a post-coital test ? This will determine whether you require insemination or not.
