Question
Dear Doctor, 9 months ago I had pelvis scan done
as prescribed by doctor. The impression shows as Polycystic overies
(Mild). I am married for past 1 yr 3 months and trying to get pregnant.
While trying i got my periods 10 days in advance. Usually it is 30 to 32
days cycle. Should i check with doctor first and then try pregnancy?
Please Help I am very confused. |

Answer: I think you should do a scan on day 12 of the period.
This would determine when you are ovulating and may change from cycle to
cycle. In case you are not ovulating, your doctor can prescribe tablets
like clomid in the next cycle. Also have your husband's semen examined .
Let me know the results of the scan and the semen , so I can advice you

Dear Dr, I am 35 yrs old indian lady. i have
maried since 2005 and have pcod problem. I have undergone one dhl found
one polyp also and aftere omited the polyp again aonother polyp is also
in my uterus. I have under treatment for 1and 1/2 yrs with humog, hmg
injection and letromet/ovulet tablets. after 1 and 1/2 yr i concieved in
December'09 but after 7 days i faced miscarriage.can i concieve again my
husband's siemen test is 65% with pus cell 1-2 and deadcell 20%. pls
suggest me what will i do. Am i able to concieve in near future. After
periods 15 days 16th day to 25 day i am taking duphaston for regular my
period. pls advice me. |

Answer: Please let me know the size of the polyp and its
situation. Your husband's semen is fine and you should conceive
again. I need to know what happened during the last pregnancy. Was
the heart beat present or not ? How many weeks were you pregnant
when you had the miscarriage. Was any reason found for the
miscarriage ? You should do a follicular scan to determine your most
fertile period and start the duphaston once you know that you have
ovulated.Let me know all these, so I can advice you further. |

Hello! dr. i have been married for last 1 yr,
trying to conceive since last 3 month but faild, have consulted gyn last
month, gyn advised me to do a follicule test and my husband semens test,
his test report was ok, but my prolactin report showed 30.69 ng/ml, and
on 9th day of my period size of my follicule was 14.10 on 11day 16*11 on
12th 18*13 mm 14th day 20*15 mm on 15th day 20.19 mm and on 16th it
ruptured but this month (Feb' 2010) have got my period on 15th, gyn has
advised me to take clome *50, glycomet 1 gm, Hyponidd, folic acid, and
aftr 6 wks to repeat prolactin test.. m little worried why m not able to
conceive.. in the yr 08 i had an abortion...pls advice me |

Answer: You have ovulated , so that is fine. I think the
prolactin should be under control. You should take dostinex or
parlodel tablets for that. If you do not conceive within two months,
have an HSG ( hysterosonography) or laparoscopy done to check that
your tubes are ok. Let me know the result of that and the repeated
prolactin after treatment, so I can advice you further. All the best

Hello Doctor, We have been trying for a baby for
the past 12 to 14 months, so we consulted a doctor who asked me to do
the semen analysis test which was normal, so the doctor asked us to do
follicular test and suggested to take 50Mg clofert but my wife
mistakenly took 100mg for three days starting 2 nd day of her period and
took only 50 Mg for the next two days (so instead of 250MG suggested by
doctor she took 400 MG.. now we are worried, what will be the
complication, can we have normal relationship during this cycle, however
we have decided to do follicular test suggested by doctor before having
any relationship.. please advice |

Answer: The high dose of clofert may have enlarged the
ovaries. Have an ultrasound done to determine that there are no
cysts in the ovaries.Monitoring the size of the follicles is a must
while on clofert. In future, a scan must always be done on day 12 of
the period and a follow- up done till the follicle is around 18-20

Answer: First of all, whenever you are taking fertomid, an
ultrasound should be done around day 12 of the cycle to determine
whether you are ovulating with that dose or not and also that your
ovaries are not getting unduly enlarged. This would also determine
your fertile period. So, during the next cycle , take the same dose
and let me know the results of the scan. Also, let me know your
husband's semen report. |

Dear doctor, I am planning to conceive, My doctor
had suggested to take duphaston on 20th day of my cycle for 5 days and
My cycle is irregular it comes any time between 35 days to 45 days. My
last period was on 28th dec 2009 and it lasted for around 3 days. I had
intercourse in Jan and Feb months of 2010 and I took 2 HPT tests on 32nd
day and 40th day of missed period both negative, Today i am 50 days
late. Am I preg and possible that HPT may be positive in coming days? or
is this delay due to coming off from duphaston tablet? Plz let me
know..I am confused. |

Answer: Duphaston would only help you regularise your cycles.
It would not help you ovulate. Have a scan done on day 12 of the
period . This would determine whether you are ovulating or not and
also your most fertile period. You should have got a period within
10 days of stopping the duphaston. You probably have a delayed
period because you did not ovulate. If you still have not got a
period, check the beat hcg by a blood test .. If that is negative,
consult your doctor for some other tablets to get a period. Also,
discuss with your doctor whether you should take clomid in the next
cycle. |

I have been asked to take modus 10mg from day20 of
my LMP. I want to conceive, does modus 10mg stop ovulation or they don't
have any effect on the ovulation. I want to conceive as I am 34 yrs now.
i had sex during the peak n dont want to take modus if i have chance of
becoming pregnant.please respond at the earliest. |

Answer: You should not be taking modus in the cycle that you
wish to conceive . The following is the information on modus safety
and pregnancy : "Category X: Studies in animals or human beings have
demonstrated fetal abnormalities or there is evidence of foetal risk
based on human experience or both, and the risk of the use of the
drug in pregnant women clearly outweighs any possible benefit. The
drug is contraindicated in women who are or may become pregnant.
Modus would usually not affect your ovulation when taken from day 20
of the cycle, but it is not very safe. Discuss with your doctor
whether you can take duphaston instead, as that is safer. All the

since last year ,I was detected PCOS and my doctor put me on Metformin
500 mg thrice a Day ,I had my follicular study many time ,doc precribed
me Letoval 2.5 mg(LMp 17th jan 2010) for 5 days starting 2nd day ,then
ultra sound ,I had 2 dominant follicle in left ovary and on 11 Day ,Doc
gave me HCG 5000 shot ,after which ovulation happened and since 14th day
I am on Susten 200 ,today its 30 day I am still on Susten ,but no
periods as yet .Does thata means I am Pregnant ?? or Can i get periods
while having susten ?? |

Answer: Your period would be delayed while on susten. You
would get a period 5-10 days after stopping it. |

Answer: Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. What is your
husband's semen result and have you checked your tubes after the
miscarriage. Let me know the result of both, so I can advice you
further. Also, you can try superovulation- where medication is given
to form 2-3 eggs , which would improve your chances of IUI. However,
this must be done under close supervision by your doctor. All the

level which led to spotting 7 or 1 0 days before my actual period. it';s

month i had no spotting except on the day of the ovulation. it's been 2
days i finishe dthe duphaston pill yet i have no period yet. could i be
pregnant? or is this a normal delay ? when does the period start after

Answer: Have a scan done on day 12 of the period . This would
determine whether you are ovulating or not and also your most
fertile period. If you are not ovulating, you might need medication
like clomid in the next cycle. One would get a period within 5-10
days of stopping the duphaston. All the best. |

Im a 26 yo female. I had stopped taking birth
control pills and got pregnant a month later. Then, after 8 weeks i had
a miscarriage. we wanted to keep trying. it has been about six months
and i have not been able to get pregnant. i have been reading on what to
do online to help get pregnant. i have tried tracking ovulation, bought
ovulation tests, and now im trying the basal thermometer. im getting
irritated because nothing is happening. im starting to worry that
something could be wrong. Also, lately since the miscarriage i have been
urinating a lot. i know it is not a bladder infection because these are
long streams of urination. I even tried drinking less to see if it would
help. im not pregnant again because this has been going on for weeks now
and ive taken pregnancy tests. Next month is my annual pap and is there
any advice you can give me to ask the dr on how to speed up the process
of getting pregnant? Or why am i urinating so frequently? |

Answer: First of all - RELAX ! Your chances of conception
would reduce if you are stressed. Ovulation kits determining the LH
surge would be more reliable than temperature checking. Are you
ovulating as determined by the ovulation kit? If you are not, you
would need to got a gynecologist who can give you drugs which would
make you ovulate. Having an ultrasound done around day 12 of the
cycle would determine your most fertile period. Also have your
husband's semen examination done. Regarding your urination, have you
checked the urine for infection ? You could have long streams of
urine even with a bladder infection ! When you go for your Pap , ask
your doctor to check if you also have a cystocele - loose vaginal
muscles in the anterior part of the vagina. This could be corrected
by certain exercises. let me know all these, so I can advice you
further. |

Answer: You do not need any more progesterone support. Make
sure you do not overexert . Also, ensure that you do not have
urinary or vaginal infection, as these can predispose to preterm
delivery. If you have any pain like a period pain, contact your
doctor immediately to determine whether your uterus is contracting
or not. If it is, certain medication can be given for that. All the

Hello doctor, I seriously need your HELP. Im in a
state of depression. I had my last period on 22nd dec and after that (on
30th Dec & once on 7th Feb) had dry sex with my boyfriend (i.e he rubbed
his penis that was wet with pre cum around my vagina over my panties,
but he didn't ejaculate) and i have missed my period on january and its
16th february no period has arrived. Though im on DEVIRY tablet and it
is my 2nd day of consumption. I even got a pregnancy test at home which
showed NEGATIVE result. And i dont even have the slightest of those
pregnancy symptoms - vomitting,morning sickness,constipation,tender/sore
breast,enlarged breast,darkening of aerola,tendency of urinating
frequently etc My questions are: 1. Does pre cum contain sperms in it
and make me pregnant ? 2. Can the sperm swim across my panty which was
of some thin synthetic material ? 3. How accurate result can a pregnancy
test kit give ? 4. After taking the Deviry tablet under medical
assitance,im cramping lightly |

Answer: You must have got a period bynow. If not, have a beta
hcg blood test done. This will determine whether you are pregnant or
not. You would get a period 5- 10 days after stopping the deviry .
Precum can contain sperms from a previousejaculate, so you can get
pregnant with that. A pregnancy test like clear blue would be
positive 15 days after conception, so depending on when you have had
intercourse and when you have ovulated, the timing of the test would
change. I suggest you use some contraceptive measure like the pill
rather than get stressed every month ! |

Hello Doctor, it is been 2 and half yrs of married
life.I have daughter of 16 months old. I had one MTP abortion 4 months
back. Now again this time I didnt get my periods (Jan 4th was my last
periods, it is been 6 weeks from my last periods). I tested the urine

positive result has been shown up. went to scan on Feb 12th but scan

Answer: First of all, you should be more careful about
preventing a pregnancy, rather than have the risk of unwanted
pregnancies . Discuss with your doctor and start the pill which is a
very reliable method of contraception. if you have still not got a
period, do a beta hcg blood test which would determine whether you
are pregnant or not. |

Hi Doctor I am aged 33, have 7yr old boy, has done
laproscopy for endometriosis stage4 (Laproscopic Ovarian Cystectomy with
adhesiolysis fulgration of endometriotic deposits)3yrs back and followed
by Depo Provera inj for 6months, after that tried and treated for
further pregnancy. Once i got conceived but aborted in 5wks. i took
Lupride Depot inj 6months back, Still i am having ovarian cyst,
endometriosis and adhesions. Severe abdominal pain and back pain during
cycles and retain until a week time. (i have regular cycles) Recently
another doctor advised to take Gynera, for three months. My doubt is
which is better to reduce endometriosis, Depo Provera inj or Gynera? Is
it suitable for a 2-3yr duration? or Should i go for a Hysterectomy at

Answer: Both gynera and depot provera are effective. Did the
cyst reduce with lupride ?Do let me know the size before and after
treatment. This is usually more effective than gynera or provera.
You have not mentioned the size of the cyst at present. . Let me
know , so I can advice you further. Hysterectomy would not help as
your problem is in the ovaries, and not uterus. If you remove both
your ovaries at the time of hysterectomy, you would need HRT for a
long time, so I do not advice that. |

Answer: Have an ultrasound done on day 5 of your period to
determine whether you have an ovarian cyst. If that is nornmal, have
your thyroid hormone checked as an abnormality in that can also
cause scanty periods. If all that is fine, you do not need to worry.
Did you mean burning in the vagina or abdomen ? If vagina, have a
pelvic examination done to rule out any cervical or vaginal
infection. |
