ovaries) |

Question
Hi doctor, I have PCOD and the doctors have been
trying for a conception for the past one year. I was also informed that
the size of the uterus was small. I was diagnoised for that and the
doctors said that the size is normal. I went for a laproscopy however
the PCOD relapsed in two months. I was asked to consult an infertility
specalist. I have done Internal Utineray Insemination thrice. I didnt
concieve. I asked the doctor's suggestion to have IVF done. But she said
that thats the last option. However I am facing a lot of mental problems
because of this infertility. Please let me know what is the next process
to conceive. My husband's semen test was taken and it was found to be
normal. I am 25 years and my husband is 32. The doctors have also
intimated that since lots of stimulation has been given, she will leave
me for the next two months. Please advice.

Answer:Sorry to hear that you have not conceived. If your tubes
are patent, you can try IUI for another 3 cycles. How many follicles did
you produce every cycle ? Also, is your prolactin level normal ?Was any
luteal support like cyclogest given ? Let me know these answers, so I
can advice you further. Relax ! You should conceive soon. |

Question
Dear Doctor, Am 32 yrs and my husband is 33 yrs.
We are married for 3 yrs, having been trying to conceive for last 2 yrs.
I was detected of Polysistic Ovaries, so my doc advised Metfornim 500
for thrice a day, along with Clomid and folic acid tab. Now after taking
these mediciation my periods have become normal 35 days cycle again
after 1 yr i did my Ultra Sound and the no of cysts have done down as
well. My HSG report shows patent tube with free spillage but there
appears to be pelvic and peritubal adhesions, utres is normal in shape
and size. I was advised Letroz and Menodac injection & follicular
study.I tried IUI on the 14 day of my last cycle on the 12 day my
follicles size was 2.1,1.8,2.1 with Endometrium 1.0. My doc advised to
take one injection on 12 day and on the 14 and 15 day (two days) i was
inseminated. But unfortunately on the 17 day my period started. What are
my chances of conception ? My husband semens analysis report is normal.
Can i ever become a mother ? Please help me doctor !
|
|
|
Answer:PCO is a condition affecting around 20 % of women and
remains lifelong. Since you are ovulating well , you should conceive. If
you do not conceive after 4 - 6 cycles of IUI , you should try IVF. The
peritubal adhesions may affect ovum pick- up, so IVF would help when IUi
fails. All the best ! |

|
|
Answer: First of all, let me know whether the thyroid hormones
are within the normal range for your lab. Every lab uses different
methods, so I need to know the range of your lab. Secondly, the day of
ovulation would change in different cycles, so it would be advisable to
do ultrasound scanning on day 11 of the cycle and have intercourse from
the day the size is around 16 mm till the day of ovulation. Duphaston
should be started only after ovulation has occurred. All the best ! |

Question
hi doctor,i have pcos...my doctor advised me to
have duphaston..using duphaston i ovulated regularly after 30 daya..now
i wanted to conceivemy doctor gave me fertyl..i have missed period for
more than 12 days since my last period..can i be pregnant?????
|
|
|
Answer: You have got a period after 30 days, this does not
indicate that you have ovulated. If you have not yet got a period, check
the urine for pregnancy. If you have got a period, have an ultrasound
done on day 12 of the period to determine your most fertile period and
if you do not ovulate with the dose of fertyl given, you may need a
higher dose in the next cycle. All the best ! |

|
|
Answer:Do you have PCO ( polycystic ovaries ) ?First of all, you
must try to lose weight. Have an ultrasound done on day 12 of the period
to check whether you are ovulating or not. Let me know your husband's
semen report in detail. He might need some medication . If you are in
Oman you can come and see me. Take an appointment- 24563181. If you are
not in Muscat, let me know which city you are in so I can advice you
further. |

Question
I'm 27yrs old. I've been married for a yr now.
Last yr i had a miscarriage and have since been trying to get pregnant.I
noticed irregularity in my cycle in feb this yr.My normal cycle of
28days has changed to 30/31days. A month ago,i noticed i was lactating
just last month.could this be responsible for my delayed conception? and
am i suppose to see my period if my prolactin is high?
|
|
|
Answer: Have your Prolactin hormone checked. A high prolactin
gives rise to lactation and maybe a cause for not conceiving. You may
get normal periods even with a high prolactin. Also, have an ultrasound
done on day 12 of the cycle to check whether you are ovulating or not.
Let me know the results, so I can advice you further. |

Question
I am taking Euthyrox 75 ug and using the Clear
Fertility Monitor. Would the medication affect or interfere with the
readings of the monitor? For 2 months, the reading went from Low to
Peak.
|
|
|
Answer:Certain hormones do affect the kit results. Please check
with the manufacturer. The results of the kit are sometimes inaccurate.
The best way to determine ovulation would be to do ultrasound do
determine the size of the follicle. |

Question
hello dr.dis is nadia n plz solve my problrm i m
taking clomid in my 2 cycles still not concieving n my dr didnt told e 2
get ultrasound done is it ok plz guide me
|
|
|
Answer:You have to let me know whether you are ovulating or not.
This can be determined by ultrasound. If you take clomid and do not
follow up with ultrasound, there is a chance of the ovaries enlarging
and forming cysts. If you wish to see me , you can take an appointment -
24563181 and I can treat you further. Also, has your husband's semen
been checked ? |

Question
it has been one and half year for our
marriage, earlier we planned not have child for 1 year atleast, now we
wish to give a try. what are the precautions that we should follow, even
any medical problems should be diagnose before conceiving. please
advice.
|
|
|
Answer: Have your husband's semen examination done. If there is a
problem, your doctor can guide you further. Also have an ultrasound done
on day 12 of the cycle. This will determine whether you are ovulating
or not and also whether you have any fibroids or ovarian cysts. The
ultrasound would also determine your most fertile period. All the best ! |

Question
Hi. I came off the pill last month and came on my
period on the 4th of april. I then started opk testing. I had an lh
surge on the 15th. Then i cam on my period on the 19th! It's lighter
than usual but not pink or brown. I use 1 to 2 pads a day. It's now the
23rd and I am still on. What happened did i not ovulate? Or is it
because i just came off my pills. This has been going on frequently
since my last child she is three. My drs keep putting me on birth
control to regulate them, but i'm trying to concieve with my husband. Is
there a non birthcontrol that i could take to regulate them.
|
|
|
Answer: Regarding your irregular bleeding, have an ultrasound
done to determine whether you have an ovarian cyst . Also, a pelvic
examination would reveal whether you have a vaginal or cervical
infection which can sometimes cause the bleeding. Regarding conception,
the LH surge kits are often not reliable.Since you are trying to
conceive, have an ultrasound done on day 12 of the period to determine
whether you are ovulating or not. Serial monitoring will determine your
most fertile period. If you are not ovulating, you may require clomid
tablets . Check with your doctor regarding that. One usually gets
delayed periods because one is not ovulating .Once you ovulate, you
would get regular periods and you would not require any other medication
for irregular periods. |

|
|
Answer: You have not mentioned whether you are ovulating or not.
Also let me know your FSH and LH levels done on day 2 of the cycle. What
is your husband's semen report? Were you taking clomid tablets? Have
your tubes been checked earlier by hysterosalpingography? That would
make the lining of the uterus thin. Let me know all these , so I can
advice you further. |

Question
Hi,i had clomid tablets, three cycles but i dont
now why i didnt get pregnant.can u pliz help me
|
|
|
Answer: Did you do ultrasound monitoring to determine the size of
the follicle. It should reach 18 to 20 mm. If you did not form
follicles, you may require a higher dose in the next ctcle. It is ,
however, essential to do ultrasound monitoring while you are taking
clomid to determine your most fertile period and also to ensure that
your ovaries are not getting unduly enlarged and forming cysts. |

Answer: Darkening of the skin is common
during pregnancy due to a change in hormones during pregnancy. This is
caused by the effects of the pregnancy hormones progesterone and
estrogen on the melanin cells in the skin. Melanin causes darkening of
the skin. This is not due to razor use. |

Question
hi,docter i am very much worried about my scanty
bleeding going on for last 4 months.i am 28 years of age and i am using
loette contraception pill.previously i use to have normal flow of
periods for 5 days...but now its very scanty and lasts for 1 or 2
days.can you please let me know why is it so?
|
|
|
Answer:Any contraceptive pill would give scanty periods. If the
periods get very scanty, you can consult your doctor regarding changing
the type of pill, which may give a better flow. Also, have an ultrasound
done to rule out the presence of an ovarian cyst, which can give rise to
scanty periods. Also, check your thyroid hormones when you are off the
pill, as an abnormality in the thyroid hormones can also give scanty
periods. |

Question
Hi,doctor i am pharmacist and there is patient
getting for me asking about (she is 28years old treated with oral
contraceptive for 5years from irregular menstrual cycle ,she stop it
from 3years and not pregrant now ,What are the causes ,suggestion for
her) please, i want this now thanks your Excellance.
|
|
|
Answer:If she had irregular periods even prior to starting the
pill, she may have had anovulation, which may prevent conception. Ask
her to do a scan on day 12 of the cycle to check whether she is
ovulating or not. If she is not ovulating, she would require clomid
tablets . She would then require ultrasound monitoring to determine when
she is ovulating . |

Question
Hi,im 18 years old. About 2 weeks or so i went to
the doctor for a pam smear. I informed the doctor that for the past 2
years i've this white discharge,no odor nor itching,so he gave me a
cream for 7 nights. I got my results back from my pam smear, the doctor
explain that there was nothing wrong. But now its been 3 weeks and now i
have this yellow discharge that i have never had. Can you please advise
me to what could this be or should i go to the doctor again. Please help
thanxs!!
|
|
|
Answer: You need to do a vaginal smear for the type of infection
you have- bacterial , fungal or trichomonial. Also, a culture and
sensitivity of the vaginal discharge would help to determine the type of
infection you have and the antibiotic you would require. |
