Question,
I am on Roaccutane. I had severe side effects
as my cheeks get redness. Is there any cream/medication

Redness and scaling of face and lips are common while
taking Roaccutane. Avoid exposure to sunlight and use a
sunscreen while going out in the day time. While at home
use a moisturiser.

Question,
My 8 yr old daughter has developed a rash that
she's had about 2 weeks now. I took her to her doctor
and she was given Prednisone 20 mg and zyrtec-D 12 hour.
The problem is, she has completed the meds but she still
has this rash. The bumps are small and they have spread
over most of her body. She hasn't eaten anything out of
the ordinary and she doesn't take any meds on a daily
basis. What could this be?
Answer
Without a clinical examination it is not possible to
guess the diagnosis on your description alone. Do
consult a dermatologist
Question,
For the past month or so I've developed very
hard red bumps, like hardened peas, underneath the skin
on my chin and by my nose. In one area it is re-occuring.
These bumbs do not come to a head or show any exit pores
for puss, etc. They are just under the skin and then
eventually (after about a week or so) they go away. What
are these, how can I prevent them and how can I treat
them?
Answer
Your
skin problem requires a detailed clinical examination.
Do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
I have bumps covering the edges of my mouth
and on my chin which release a foul smelling, white to
yellowish colored stringy discharge when squeezed. The
bumps sometimes become irritated and inflamed but this
does not happen often. Is this condition serious and is
it treatable? I would greatly appreciate any advice you
may provide.
Answer
You
are probably having folliculitis (infection of hair
follicles). Get a culture and sensitivity of the
discharge done and take the appropriate antibiotics
after consulting a dermatologist.

hospital and the doctor said it was due to the rays of
the sun. and now again they have come up they r dark and
flat. i want them to be remoevd so where can i get this
done.
Answer
You

It
takes a few weeks for the skin to get its original color
after treatment for tinea versicolor.

For
your dry skin use a moisturiser immediately after bath
twice a day. For the lesions around the vagina please
consult your dermatologist or gynaecologist as it is not
possible to guess the daignosis on your description
alone. For your son also please consult a dermatologist
as a proper clinical examination is required to arrive
at the right diagnosis.
Question,
My lips are black. Is there any treatment for
this in cosmetology?
Answer
Your
lip problem requires a clinical examination to ascertain
the cause for the darkness and then only a proper advice
can be given. Consult a dermatologist.
Question,
My neice is 14 years old. She has had skin
problems from the time of her birth. Recently she has
had this condition worsen. She has been going back and
forth to the Dr. now for a few weeks trying to figure
out the latest issue. She has these "Blisters" on her
leg. in her words,"It looks like a grouping of little
blisters and when you pop one a creamy liquid comes out
and before it makes the hard crusty top it has like a
jell on it."
My question is probably quite obvious by now. What could
this be? Herpes?
Answer
This
condition is definitely not herpes. Do consult a
dermatologist to ascertain the correct diagnosis and
take his advice.
Question,
Hi! For the past couple of months i've been
getting these pimple looking bumps on my face, and you
can tell they have puss in the instead of a white head.
They pop, but when they do puss comes out and then they
get all red and take a couple of weeks to go away.
Sometimes they get bigger. Then today i noticed a couple
of them and their bumps but the skin on them is dry.
Please help me get rid of these.
Answer
You
are probably having acneform eruptions and this can be
treated after proper clinical examination. Do consult
your dermatologist.
Question,
Hi. my question is, first of all, a couple of
years ago i developed a rash on my inner thighs because
i wore the same pair of underwear for about a week or
more(i was after all just 13) i never put any cream or
anything because i figured it would go away on its' own.
It never did, and there was always an itching which i
would be quick to scratch, and this went on for more
than 3 years before i decided to do something about it
and i used lamisil for i thought i had jock itch. the
cream relieved the itching and peeling somewhat but
didn't completely make the problem go away so i went to
the doctors' and she gave me this prescription cream
that i used as directed but the red patches between my
legs are still there. there is not much itching and no
peeling but the skin there is a little redder than the
surrounding skin due to the years of scratching away at
the skin and i was wondering will the skin there ever be
of normal color if i use another medication or cream, or
is the discoloration there to stay?
Answer
You
are probably having Intertrigo / tinea cruris of the
inner upper thighs and both these conditions can be
effectively treated. Do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
As long as I can remember I have had a pencil
eraser sized lump on the left front side of my neck near
my jaw and ear which is hard. It is just beneath my skin
and feels like it is attached to the underside of my
skin since it moves with my skin and doesn't feel
attached to anything further inside. What is this lump
and what is the lump material made up of? Also, should I
have it removed?
Answer
Without examination it is difficult to guess the
diagnosis of the lump below your left jaw. It could be
an epidermal cyst. Do consult a dermatologist and take
his/her advice.
Question,
doc, i am 35 yrs old and i have noticed that
in the last 2 yrs i have some dark spots around my
achilles and on the lower part of my legs like right
around my ankles. I dont know what it may be and i once
asked a friend and they thought it was broken
capillaries..but also on my achilles it looks like i
didnt wash but that is from the same spots. I have tried
to scrape them with a pumice stone but it doesnt go
away..i am worried it could be something else or maybe u
can help me.....
Answer
You
probably have a condition called Schamberg's purpura.
This is a mild vasculitis of small capillaries in the
ankles and the discoloration is secondary to deposition
of haemosiderin pigment. It is slowly progressive and
may fade in due course of time. It is quite benign and
it is recalcitrant to treatment. Laser therapy ay be
beneficial. If it progresses do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
I am not a good with English so hope you
understand what I am saying....
I do not know what this is I am having...
I always thought I had a dandruff so I keep using a
dandruff shampoos but it still flaky and itch really bad
so I changed shampoos...over the pass 5 years I tried
everything and some of the shampoos are Dr told me to
use and some are like cost $17.00 for tiny shampoos but
it still itches a little....but I see no flakes when I
using them...so I thought I got rid of it and I wanted
to try out new shampoo that is regullar and it smells
better than medicated ones...I used regullar
shampoo...the next day, my head itches like you won't
believe so I scraches untill it bleed and on top of
that, I see little bit of white flakes and my head
smells like a wet dog...I can smell it and so is my
husband tells me my head smell like a wet dog hair...
so I went back using a dandruff shampoo and itchness has
gone way down and I don't notice of flakes but I am
tired of dander and I am start to think that this isn't
a dandruff and something else...because I tried so many
danderuff shampoos over the past 5 years and it is not
getting any better at all...and I wash my hair in the
morning, it feels so good but later that afternoon, my
head smell like a wet dogs hair and start to itches...
Please help....and tell me what is it? is this disease
not danderuff? I want to feel like a woman and I want my
head and hair to smell good and flake free..help..
Please
Thank you
Answer
Dandruff is multifactorial. The factors involved in
dandruff include a hormone (androgen), infection (pityrosporum),
diet to some extent (more of coco containing products
and fatty food), stress and of course local cleanliness.
At times the exact cause is not clear. So there are so
many factors to be tackled. Mild to moderate dandruff
can be controlled with shampoos containig selenium
sulphide and zinc or ketoconazole. Severe cases require
systemic therapy with ketoconazole or itraconazole in
addition to the shampoos mentioned. Besides the other
triggering factors have to be looked into. Do consult a
dermatologist and take the appropriate treatment.
Question,
I need a solution for skin irritation (upper
lip) because every time I try to color my mustache I get Rashes, swellen, irritation, inflammation and itching. So if
you please can tell me what shall I do to prevent such
thing and if you can recommend any herbal mustache color
that doesn't contain any chemical substances which cause
the irritation.
Answer
You
have developed contact allergic dermatitis to the hair
dye you are using. This is mainly due to paraphenaline
diamine present in almost all the dyes. Stop using the
same dye in future. Before trying a newer one test the
same by using it on the inner aspect of your thigh. If
there is no local reacton in the next 48 hours you can
try the same.
Question,
Hi, I have a question regarding a scars.
Within my mustache on the left above my lip there is a
scar there that is small but noticeable. I have no idea
how I came to get this scar it has been there for quite
some time for years I have not tried any ointment or
creams to try and heal this scar. Up until recently it
started to bother me in appearance so I tried a few
ointments such as polysporin and a ointment that comes
with the first aid kit called mecca to no avail was I
able to have this scar heal. I was going to try a
ointment called Mederma but I was reading it is not
recommended for open cut scars. Could you recommend a
ointment I could use to heal this scar.
Answer
Moderate acne usually responds to doxycycline or
minicycline. If these do not work you may have to take
Roaccutane after consulting a dermatologist.
Scars tend to slowly clear in due course of time.
Topical contractubex can help to some extent.
Microdermabrasion and laser therapy are also beneficial.
Question,
I have, within the last year or two, been
getting blackheads on the back of both my legs.
Sometimes there may be a cyst like knot about the size
of a pea to about quarter size and then it slowly goes
away. I notice that this seems to happen whenever I sit
on a hard surface or the edge of something like a step.
Could it be from pressure to the back of my legs or
could it be related to cancer?
Answer
From
your description it is difficult to guess what exactly
you have. It does not appear to be cancer. Do consult a
dermatologist and take the correct advice.
Question,
I am 18 years old and i cant seem to get rid
off the dark coloured skin under my armpit and between
my legs. I was hoping you can suggest methods of getting
rid of it or reducing as i have tried scrubbing it off
but cant, help!!!
Answer
Skin
over the armpits and upper inner thighs can become thick
and dark in overweight people and with reduction of
weight the condition improves. Sometimes there may be a
family history of a similar problem. Topical mild
bleaching agents, topical keratolytics or topical
vitamin A can help. Do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
I have a problem. I've been suffering from an
unsightly bump on my chest. The bump is a keliod. I had
the keliod inserted and even have radiation on it;
nothing worked. What procedure that are available now
that is effective and is, not a 100% guaranteed, but
highly recommended by other top dermatologist, besides
yourself, that is more than likely to work.
Answer
There
is no cure for keloids. They can be flattenned with
intralesional steroid injections and after these
injections the pain and itching also subside. If they
are persistent, very painful, itchy or are enlarging in
size do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
i got burned on my leg about 19 years ago
there is about 10Cm Circle can i use Contractubex to
remove it or what else can i use , thank u
Answer
Your
scar is pretty old and it is unlikely that it will clear
completely. If the scar is raised contractubex may help
to some extent in flattening it. If there is a keloid
then you have to take intralesional steroid injections.
Laser thrapy also can be of some value.
Question,
My daughter (african-american) has several dark spots
left on her legs from mosquito bites. What can we use to
fade these spots?
Answer
These
dark spots will fade in due course of time without any
treatment. A combination of 2% hydroquinone and
1% hydrocortisone cream once a day can help in clearing
it early.
Question,
I`m 32 years old,and still having acne on my
face.Is it useful to use Roaccutane treatment?
Answer
Treatment of acne depends on its severity and only
severe acne is treated with Roaccutane. Do consult a
dermatologist to find out why you are still developing
acne and take his advice.
Question,
I was diagonised for hyperthyroid in July this
year. My TSH reading was 16.87 on the 16th of July. I
have been advised to take 200mg of Eltroxin daily on
empty stomach. I have severe itching throughout my body.
It is so uncontrollable and it causes red rashes. Please
tell me if there is a cure to this itching problem. All
the doctors i have met tell me that once the thyroid
level comes to normal the itching will reduce but it is
becoming more and more difficult for me to control. It
is 3 months now that the itching has started and i am
losing patience. Waiting for your reply
Thanking you
Warm regards
Answer
There
are several causes for severe itching all over the body
and hyperthyroidism is one of them. Hope your
dermatologist has ruled out the other causes.
Nevertheless it does take some time for the itching to
subside after the cause is tackled. Change of
antihistamines also can alleviate the itching.
Question,
I have puncture wounds on my face (lower
cheek/chin area and under my nose above my lip from a
dog bite 2 weeks ago -they are closed up (not infected -
no oozing) and of course reddish looking in the healing
stage - but my concern is that there are lumps under the
skin at the puncture wound entrance - what the heck is
that? and more importantly - will they go away on their
own? Also will Vitamen E or anything else help prevent
or lessen the scarring? I am a female in my late 30s
Thanks for any advice you can give me
Answer
Without examination it is difficult to guess the nature
of your scars. Please consult a dermatologist and take
the appropriate treatment.
Question,
I am a 37 year old male. Everytime I have
gotten sick since I was a child, my skin turns red.
After a few days the redness goes away. Then my wole
body starts to peel. Every doctor I have asked about
this, (and they have seen it), can't figure it out. Any
advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Answer
Erythematous skin rashes followed by exfoliation is
common in viral and bacterial infections of the body and
they usually clear even without treatment. Use a
moisturising cream twice a day till the peeling
subsides.
Question,
My 8 year old daughter went berry picking with
some relatives on the weekend of sep 13. They harvested
berries and apples. The consumed most of these fruits on
the sunday. By sunday evening my daughter was showing a
rash that can only described as little bumps. The bumps
are very itchy, they have appeared on her legs and arms.
They have not gone away after 7 days. I tried an
anti-histamine to see if they would respond to a allergy
medicine. My daughter reports that the itch went away,
but the bumps are still there. They do not appear to
have any colour, and are approximately 1mm in size.
Could this be a response to plant toxins, an allergy, or
stress? Her time at the relative's house was apparently
quite stressful and the anti-histamine could have had a
placeaboe affect... Please advise.
Answer
Your
daughter has probably developed papular urticaria
(insect bite reaction). Use a topical hydrocortisone
cream twice a day for a few days and if there is no
response consult a dermatologist.
Question,
i had a spot on my face but withtin the last 3
days it has got really big and has been so painfull n
yelloe fluid is coming out of it what is it and how can
i get rid of it?
Answer
You
have probably developed a furancle ( deep follicular
bacterial infection ). As it is already discharging pus
and as there is only one lesion a topical antibiotic
cream thrice a day for a few days should suffice for
healing the condition. If it recurs do consult a
dermatologist.

Answer
You
have a chronic hand dermatitis and also xerosis ( dry
skin ). Only after examination and a detailed history
taking it is possible to advise treatment as this
depends on the severity of the condition. Besides you
also need counselling. Do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
What would be the best treatment for acne. I
don't belive that i have a severe case but i do get
pimples a lot and i was wondering what would be the best
medicine and the quickest without leaving scars, but at
the same time leveling out my skin and its tone.
Answer
For
mild acne any one of the topical antiacne preparations
is enough. For moderate acne besides a topical
preparation systemic tetracycline is required. Severe
acne requires systemic Roaccutane.
Question,
I'VE READ ONE OF YOUR RESPONSES TO KELOIDS AND
YOU STATE THAT THERE IS NO CURE FOR KELOIDS. THEN WHAT
DOES ELICINA AND OR MEDERMA CREAMS/OINTMENTS DO FOR
KELOIDS? THREE YEARS AGO I HAD COSMETIC SURGERY ON MY
EYELIDS. ON MY LEFT EYELID YOU CAN SEE AND FEEL THE
SCAR. IT BOTHERS ME LOOKING AT IT. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST I
DO? YOUR RESPONSE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK
YOU.
Answer
Topical creams have little or no effect on keloids and
only intralesional steroid injections can flatten them.
Do consult a dermatologist regarding the scar on your
eyelid as it is still persistent and that you can feel
it.
Question,
I had a couple of marks on my face 1 on my
right cheek and a slightly larger 1 on the left side of
my face under my left eye, which I rubbed slightly abbrasively which caused friction burn to the skin on my
face however this has since healed and has left a
slightly darker brownish mark/skin discolouration in its
place, although my natural skin colour is slightly light
brown as i am of asian orgin this is causing me some
emontional distress. I have tried various oilments which
all say help to fade/remove the discolouration as have
not.
I would be grateful if you could advise me with some
advice in getting rid/fading these marks/discolouration.
Answer
The
dark patch secondary to abrasion shall clear in due
course of time. Topical 2% hydroquinone cream once at
bed time for a couple of weeks should hasten its
clearance.
Question,
hello doctor..I been aeeing red bumos on my
leg and my arms during the summer. These red bumps itch
a lot and I can't stand them. They appear one day and
the next day they are gone. Usually, it happens that if
thses bumps appear on one side of my arm, or leg, they
also appear on the other arm or leg. This happened to me
in 6th grade, but now I'm in the 11th grade and they
appeared again and usually this happens in the summer.
Can you please tell me what this could be. Thank you.
Answer
As you
have been getting these lesions repeatedly every summer
for the past five years it is better that you consult a
dermatologist and take the appropriate treatment.
Question,
I have had dandruff for many years now and I
have tried many shampoos to get rid of it. The dandruff
goes away for 3 days and reappears again and my hair
becomes oily. IS there anything else I can do to get rid
of it?
Answer
Ketoconazole shampoo is effective for dandruff. Use it
twice a week for a month, then once a week for a month
and later maintain with once a fortnight shampooing. If
this does not work do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
Hi I use to wear any type of pierced earrings
on my ear lobes. Then I went on Accutane. After the
treatment was over, any time I wore pierced earrings my
ear lopes became red, itched and inflammed. I have tried
gold and hypoallegenic. Ten years has passed and I still
can't wear earrrings. Please help! I really miss wearing
earings
Thnak you
Answer
You
have probably developed contact dermatitis because of
the copper content in 18 to 22 carat gold. Roaccutane
has nothing to do with this contact allergy. Wear only
pure gold or silver or platinum ornaments in future.
Question,
Hello, I have been taking Roaccutane for a
month and a week ago my hands started sweating. Is this
a side effect of this medicine? Is this going to last?
Answer
As far
as I know Roaccutane has nothing to do with sweating of
hands. If it is persistent consult your dermatologist.
Question,
Is eczema contageous???
Answer
Eczema
is not contagious.
Question,
I have had a body ordor problem for so long. I
wash up and use deordorant and it just comes right back
in 3hrs or sometimes less than that. What should I do?
If there is anything that you do to help me please let
me know. Most of stuff that I used only lasted for
alittle while. Maybe I need a cleansing from the inside.
Help!!
Answer
Body
odour is secondary to the bacterial action on the sweat
especially in the armpits and groin and it is difficult
to treat. Apart from deodorant sprays try a topical
clindamycin lotion twice a day for a couple of weeks. If
it works you can repeat the application whenever there
is a recurence.
Question,
i have a dark brown colour patch just under my
chin basically its on the jaw. doctor thinks it fungal
infection and gave me Hydrocortisone and Miconazole
Cream, i think it was caused due to cosmetics and not
sure whether i should use this cream. please help.
Answer
Without clinical examination it is not possible to guess
the exact diagnosis. Use the cream prescribed by your
doctor for a few days. If there is a good response
continue till it clears and if not consult a
dermatologist and take his or her advice.
Question,
My 4 year old
daughter has bumbs under her armpits that look like
misquito bites. They have been there for about 5 weeks
and she complains that her underarms hurt very bad. If
you touch her under there it hurts her. What could be
the problem?
Answer
Your
daughter probably has folliculitis (bacterial infection
of hair follicles) in her armpits and this condition
responds well to topical and if severe systemic
antibiotics. Do consult your family physician.
Question,
i am a black girl
and i have noticed that the area on my upper inner thigh
is darker. my legs also rub alot. is there any way that
i can get rid of it?
Answer
Upper
and inner part of the thighs is a shade darker in most
of the adults. In colored and black persons the darkness
is a little more obvious and there is no permanent cure
for this. In over weight and obese persons the darkness
is marked and this is mainly because of constant
friction between the thighs. With weight reduction the
darkness subsides. Topical Retin A cream once a day may
help to some extent in mild to moderate cases. In severe
cases you may require a combination therapy with topical
Vit A, a mild bleach and a mild steroid cream. Do
consult a dermatologist before starting any treatment.
Question,
I have had a knot on
my scalp for a long time. The other day it started
hurting I asked my boyfriend to look at it. Now it has
turned into a hole. And starting to raise up into a bump
again.
Answer
You
are probably having a sebaceous cyst. Get it excised.
Question,
I have stretch marks
on my stomach that are very embarrasing...is there
anyway other than laser surgery to get rid of them??
Answer
Stretch marks fade in due course of time ( a couple of
years ). Topical cotractubex and topical Vitamin E may
help to some extent.

no problems then around the eighth week there was this
lump in my ear and puss and blood would come out and my
earlobe got sore a swolled . How can I treat this ?

Answer
You
are probably having secondary bacterial infection after
ear piercing and you may require a topical and systemic
antibiotic. Do consult your physician.
Question,
I have had acne for
quite a while now. I was wondering if there was a way to
get rid of the redness. I also have these small holes in
my skin. it looks as though it's kind of underneath my
skin though. how do i get rid of those small holes?
Answer
Acne
responds well to systemic doxycycline or minicycline
with topical anti acne preparations. In severe cases
Roaccutane is indicated. For pitted scars chemical
peeling or microdermabrasion is indicated.
Question,
I have a large bump
which is larger than a pimple on my right inner theigh.
It is very hard and hurts when being rubbed due to the
fact that its so high up on my leg what is it?
Answer
You
are probably having a deep folliculitis or an infected
sebaceous cyst. Do consult a dermatologist and take the
appropriate treatment.

somewhere else just as quick. My hands feel hot and
swollen as do my feet, this happens in the day but is
more painful at night where i also find i cannot keep my
feet still. Can you please offer some advise
Answer
You
are probably having pompholyx which is a type of hand
and foot dermatitis. This condition responds well to
topical steroids and systemic antihistamines. Do consult
a dermatologist.
Question,

systemic antifungals. Do consult a dermatologist.
Besides get your fasting blood sugar estimation done and
if it is high consult your physician.
Question,
I am having problems
with itchy bumps with redness around them. This started
on my hip area, and I thought it was a bug bite, because
it become fairly large, about the size of a dime, but
more oval than circular I think. It was very itchy. I
then started getting more, some look like chicken pox,
then some are like like lines going across, and some are
large like mentioned above. Spread to the front of my
left hip, then a few on my stomach. Then they popped up
on my right hip. Then today, on the outside of my left
leg, between my ankle and knee, I noticed a huge itchy
red bump, this one the size of a half-dollar, maybe even
a little bigger, and not exactly circular. The swelling
has gone down, but now there is a few smaller bumps on
top of it filled with pus, almost like poison ivy. I
also now have a few on the middle of my stomach, and I
just noticed one forming under my right pec.. The bumps
are like white and raised, and it is red around them,
and they are very itchy. The one on my leg is very
itchy, and I thought I was getting bitten by something,
or had poison oak, ivy, or sumac, but they are
recurring. Sometimes I wake up in the morning, and I can
feel how raw they get on my hips, and when I reach to
check for them, they are raised and itchy. Do you know
what this is???
Answer
Without clinical examination it is not possible to guess
what you have. Do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
I noticed on my upper thigh a raised pinkinsh
cirlce that I get when the weather is warm. Beside it is
a larger patch of light pink skin with a raised outer
part. Anything to be conserned about oris this related
to sweating.
Answer
From
your description it appears you have ringworm infection
(tinea cruris). This responds well to topical micanazole
or clotromazole, if the area invoved is small. If there
is no response to this and if a large area is involved
then you may require systemic antifungals.
Question,
Hello, I get black heads in my ear, sometimes
they hurt sometimes they dont. They create a small lump
at times. I also get them on my face. I need to know how
to overcome these bumps. I also have little white bumps
that are squeezeable, under my lip really close to my
chin that have been here for a long time. Please help
thanks.
Answer
Blackheads are harmles and many a times they clear on
their own and if not they can be curetted out.
Question,
A few weeks ago, I used undiluted Dettol on my
skin (on my face), which has left my skin discoloured (a
bit darker). I was wondering if there was anything I can
do.
Answer
You
have post irritant dermatitis hypergigmentation and this
clears within a few weeks. If it does not you can
contact your dermatologist. Never use any antiseptics
without diluting and without proper advice.
Question,
I need help my son has repeatedly for the last
6 months or so continued to break out in various places
all over his body and the doctor's have no explanation
other than to say contact dermatitis but he occasionally
gets a fever with these rashes like the one he has now
which is on either side of his neck and is causing fever
and soreness in the neck to the point were he can't turn
his head please i need help i worried about my son so i
decided to turn to the internet
because i can't get his doctor to refer him to a
dermatologist
Answer
With
your description it is not possible to arrive at a
diagnosis. The very fact that your son has been
suffering from recurrent episodes of the same condition
for over six months warrents a dermatologist's advice.
Question,
three weeks after I pierced my nose I
developed a bump on that area that is dark in colour how
do I get rid of it?
Answer
This
could be just a temporary local reaction for piercing.
If it does not clear within a couple of weeks or if it
becomes painful or if it enlarges in size do consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
I am having cystic acne and the doctor in US
suggested me to go on roaccutane. Now I am moving out
from US for a while back to India Is this roaccutane
medicine available in India?

Roaccutane is not freely available in India and it is
imported only by a few pharmacies in big cities. It is
better that you take with you the full course of
medication.
Question,
I have some bumps that I get around my mouth.
I normally squeeze the gunk out of it but the bumps
remain right on my lip. They used to be unnoticeable but
now you can see them, but when I try to drain them they
sometimes become pit-like scars. Are the blackheads,
whiteheads or what? There is no pain, just knowing
they're there. Is there any suggestion what to do about
this? And could it be that I use alot of chapstick?
Answer
Without clinical examination it is not possible to guess
what exactly you have. Please do consult your
dermatologist.
Question,
My 8 year old daughter has these small wart
like bumps on the back of one of her thighs they are not
really circular either. When you pop them pus comes out
and they scab over and go away . Butm they do come back
and recently one has appearead on her forehead! Please
any advice before I take her in will help. Thank you so
much
Answer
Your
daughter probably has superficial folliculitis
(bacterial infection of hair follicles). If they are few
a topical antibiotic preparation thrice a day for 5 to 7
days should clear the condition. If it is recurrent and
if many lesions are there it advisable to get a culture
and sensitivity from the pus done and then take the
appropriate antibiotics.
Question,
I got burnt on my arms and now I am peeling. I
don't peel normal though, it looks spotty all over my
shoulders and onto my arms. Its like lighter on the
areas were it has peeled but it like flakes very slowly.
Is there anything that can make it go away. Would
tanning help?
Answer
If the
burn is superficial the lesion usually heals with
resultant hypo or hyperpigmentation. The original skin
color comes back within a couple of months without any
treatment and if it is persistent then do consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
I had a operation 5 years ago and the marks of
that operation still abvious can i use contractubex to
remove the marks, iam 23 years old
Answer
Operation scars do not disappear completely, but they
fade in course of time. Contractubex can help in
reducing the scars to some extent. Use it twice a day
for 3 to 4 months.
Question,
I have what I believe to be corns on the
little toe of each foot. They first appeared when I was
about 12 and I'm 23 now. I've tried everything to make
them go away but they're kind of big and I really don't
thing they are corns. Each one is made of very thick and
hard skin and oval shaped and almost an inch in
diameter. I sometimes try and file them down but then
they become sore and red. I am of a bronze complexion
but they are somewhat discolored and pale looking. I
have never been able to wear open toe sandals that show
all of my toes because I'm too embarrassed. Is there
anything I can use to get rid of these ugly things?
Answer
You
have thick callosities on your little toes and this is
secondary to chronic friction due to ill fitting and
tight shoes. Use broader shoes so that there is no
friction and the condition clears without any treatment.
You can use a topical 6% salicylic acid preparation
twice a day for a few days to hasten the process.
Question,
my 1 year daughter has develop a skin rash and
redness just above her back ..she is always trying to
tickle that area with her hand. We used the EUMOVATE
CREAM but it doesn't work as well as the calamine lotion
. can you please advice in this problem. and pls. tell
about the cause of it.
Answer
If the
rash on your daughter's back has not cleared with
Eumovate then it is not probably an allergic condition
and it could be a fungal infection or a dry dermatitis
or any of the itchy skin disorder. It is better that you
show it to your family physician and take the
appropriate treatment without any further delay.
Question,
Hello, this morning I woke up with a large bruse on my chest, it has a hard center and I can feel a
lump under the skin. I can not see a place where a bug
may have bitten me and it does not hurt. My son in law
lives with us and he said he had the same thing on his
calf and the lump is now going away
Answer
This
could be an insect bite or a purpura and it usually
clears within a few of days. If it becomes itchy or
painful consult a dermatologist.
Question,
I have these ( two to be precise ) boils on my
penis. They have been around for years now. They are
filled with some kind of liquid (light yellow to clear )
and does not break out. I have no problems with them,
but would like your advice. Are they cysts, and are they
harmful. Can they be removed?
Answer
You
are probably having small epidermal cysts. They are
harmless but it is better to get them excised before
they enlarge any further or get infected.

Question,
i have pimples, basically white pus boils on
my scalp, it itches me and it hurts a lot too, What is
the cause of this and how can i treat it so that it
doesnt appear again? Also, i have white patches around
my neck and upper back area, whenever i'm out in the sun
the patches get worse and when im out of it, it lessens
but is still visible, how can i treat that as well? and
what is the cause of that? please let me know! thank
you.
Answer
You
are probably having superficial folliculitis on your
scalp. The white patches on your neck can be a tinea
versicolr or a pityriasis alba or a light eruption or a
pigmentary disorder. For all these problems it is not
possible to advise treatment without a clinical
examination. Please do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
i am an 18 year old female and on and off for
about a month or two i have been suffering from some
vaginal itching. about two nights ago i put a mirror
under my vaginal area and discovered some bumps inside
my vagina. i am sexually active and don't always use
protection. does this mean that i have genital herpes
and what are some other things that it could be? and are
there any home tests that can be taken?
Answer
You
are probably having pruritus vulvae and this is usually
secondary to monilial infection or trichomaniasis. Get
yourself examined by a dermatologist or a gynaecologist
or your family physician and take the appropriate
treatment. Unprotected premarital or extramarital sex is
dangerous and you can acquire any of the sexually
transmitted diseases including HIV infection if you do
not take proper protection and hence take the required
precaution without fail.
Question,
I tend to get pimples from time to time,
sometimes my face clear up leaving little bumps with my
skin oily, while other times it is too dry. Could my
diet or hair products be a possible cause?

Diet
and hair products have little or no influence on acne.
If your acne is persisting do consult a dermatologist.

once they are fully drained and flat there appears to be
a hole in the center of the bumps. I was wondering could
this be Herpes or any other std if not how can i get rid
of these ugly bumps?!? Thankyou so much

Question,
I would really appreciate if you could answer
my question. It's rather embarrassing. I am 21 years old
and recently I've discovered a small external bump near
my anus. It felt like a small cyst. It causes no pain
and there is no bleeding when defecating. I hope it is
nothing serious. Can you tell me the treatment needed.
Thank you so much.
Answer
You
are probably having a painless cyst or haemorrhoid or a
soft wart. Consult your physician.
Question,
I am a black female in my 20s. Due to a skin
infection when I was very young (about 2yrsold), I have
had brown spots on my legs for as long as I can
remember. I have consulted various dermatologists. And
used various creams even 4% hydroquinone. Is there any
way to drastically minimize the appearance of the spots?
Any type of food or liquid creams to

preparations then you can try laser therapy.
Question,
I have got these pimple looking bumps on my
penis. They pop just like a normal pimple would they
just never go away and they are on the bottom of my
penis. They don't itch or hurt, its like they are just

dont seem to do anything for it, i am a virgin as well.
I am really wanting to know what it could be and if
there is anything i can use to get rid of the bumps.

You
are probably having just prominent follicular orifices
or pseudofolliculitis because of recurrent shaving or
small warts. Do consult a dermatologist and take his
advice.
Question,
I have kiloids on the back of my head how can
I prevent them from developing any further and Is it
possible to reverse the condition?

Question,
I don't have bad acne, just pimples here and
there, so I was going to ask you, what kind of face wash
works best? Also, can smoking cause pimples?
Answer
I have
not come across any study incriminating cigarettes as a
cause of acne. But smoking in general is harmful to many
systems of the body. Many cleansers from Neutragena,
Rock and other cosmeticuticals are available over the
counter and you can use the one which suits your skin.

whats lichen planus or mulluscum contagiosum?
Answer
Lichen
planus is an itchy autoimmune disorder. There are many
types and the treatment is topical and or systemic
steroids depending on its severity. Molluscum
contagiosum is a viral infection. Usually the lesions
are painless, umbilicated and whitish papules. When they
appear on the genitalia they are usually sexually
transmitted. They can be removed by curattage.

Question,
I had a baby
approximately 4 months ago. Since then, I have had
several infections, boils, abcesses, etc. due to insect
bites and shaving my armpits. The insect bites cleared
after antibiotic treatments but now every time I get
bitten by an insect the bites fill with pus and the
boils and bumps under my arm won't go away and they keep
spreading farther and farther away from my armpits
leaving black scars. I took the antibiotics and I have
cleaned everything thoroughly. Why is this happening and
what should I do?!
Answer
Please
get a culture and sensitivity done from the pus and take
the appropriate antibiotics. Get your fasting blood
sugar investigate
Question,
My 9 year old
child has has two itchy patches on the back of her head
for about one month. She does not have lice or dandruff.
The skin is not even red or dry. Her hair seems to be
healthy. Is there anything we can do to stop the itch?
Thank you.
Answer
There
are many causes for itchy lesions on scalp and only
after a clinical examination it is possible to tell the
diagnosis and treatment. Consult a dermatologist.
Question,
Dear Doc, I have
this small bump in my right ear lobe near at the back of
my ear which I can feel it by placing my fingers between
my ear lobe but it cannot be seen. Is this a cyst? Will
it grow larger? Are there any treatments and what can I
do about it? Thank you.
Answer
You
are probably having a small cyst. Do not keep pressing
it. In case it becomes bigger and painful consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
My daughter who
is 5, has a few white flakey patches of very dry skin on
her scalp. Doctors first thought it was ringworm, and we
tried the proper meds, but It never went away. Now the
doc thinks it is excema (sorry if spelling is wrong) and
for me to try Hydro Cortizone 1%. I have been trying
this and it seems to take it away a little, but then it
all comes right back. She also has started to get what
loks like a heat rash in the crease of her arms and
legs, but the doc said that is excema also... anything
you can think of that I may try?
I have also tried Selsen Blue and that didnt take it
away either. Thanks so very much!
Answer
White
flaky patches on the scalp may be due to ringworm (tinea
capitis), psoriasis or seborrhoeic dermatitis and all
these conditions can be treated. Without examination and
relevent investigations it is difficult to guess the
diagnosis and advise treatment. Consult a dermatologist.
Question,
I was just
wondering if there was anything specific I could do to
reduce the size of my pores on my face?
Answer
Do not
keep pressing the pores to evacuate the sebceous
material as it gets collected again after a few hours.
This habit makes the pores more prominent.
Microdermabrasion may help in reducing their size.
Question,
My daughter is 2
years old, I noticed that she has what looks like a
little mole on her arm that is red. Some of the people
in my husbands family have similar things. Now I was
just wondering if this is something that I should have
looked further into?.
Answer
Your
daughter probably has a capillary haemangioma, a benign
vascular growth. This condition enlarges for a few years
and then gradually clears with a scar. Nevertheless do
consult a dermatologist to confirm the dignosis and take
his or her advice.
Question,
Hi- I have had
red bumps on my thighs since I was young. There are
usually about 15 on each thigh and they dont go away. In
some lights, you cant see them, but if light is directly
on them they appear red and raised. They dont hurt or
itch, but they do restrict me from wearing shorts. What
could this be and what can I do about it? Please help!
Answer
Without examination it not possible to guess the
diagnosis. Do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
I periodically
get this type of lump on the skin of my pelvic bone. I
have managed to squeeze one due to the irritation and a
white bugar like thing popped out. Since cancer runs in
my family, can this be a factor?
Answer
You
are probably having epidermal cysts and they are benign
and they can be excised.
Question,
I am 29 years old
mother of two. Since the birth of my chrildren I started
growing hair undermy chin. In the beginning I shaved it,
which only made it grow back thicker and worse. The
shaving started to leave bumps and scars. About a year
ago I stopped shaving and have been getting it waxed.
This seems to have helped the hair from growing in so
strong but the bumbs still appear and the scars are
still there. Is there anything to correct the bumbs and
minimize the scars.
Answer
Get
the hairs removed with a laser as this does not injure
the hair follicles. Topical Retin A cream can reduce the
bumps.
Question,
Hi, I live in the
tropics, have fair skin with these spots on my
arms..mostly. They turn from pale red or brownish, then
turn white. They are all over. I heard about a skin
cream for this once but forgot. Any advise?
Answer
Without examination it is difficult to guess the exact
diagnosis. Consult a dermatologist.
Question,
I have two little
bumps on the back of leg that havent went away and they
are a lite brownish color . I tried hydrocrotision cream
but it still hasent gone away.It dosent itch. What could

This
could be a benign dermatofibroma. If they enlarge or
become painful get them excised.
Question,
Hi doctor,I have
had hairtransplant 6month ago and about 2 month ago lots
of cysts on my scalp(seem to be folliculitis)began to
grow up,I have used antibiotics such as doxycyclin & co-trimoxazole
for 2 month but it does not work.they are painful and
hard.could you please help me what to do?
thanks a lot
Answer
You
have probably developed folliculitis. Get a culture and
sensitivity done from the pus and take the appropriate
antibiotics.
Question,
I have severe
keratosis pilaris. Would hair removal be a safe way to
possibly help diminish the problem...I have tried
EVERYTHING else.
Answer
Keratosis pilaris is a benign condition. It is
asymptomatic and harmless. It is a chronic condition and
it is recalcitrant to treatment. Try a course of Vitamin
A and Vitamin E preparation and this may help to some
extent.
Question,
I had surgery to remove an epidermal cyst
on my face about 3 months ago, and I have scar that is problably an inch long, it seems as if the scar is
raised a little. Not enough were people can recognize,
but I can especially when i rub over my face. I am
wondering if there is anyway I can get the scar to to be
as smooth as my skin and not to be raised and is there
any thing I can do or take to make the scar as minimal
as possible. I am a model and don't want this to effect
my career.
Answer
Try
topical contractubex ointment for a couple of months. If
this does not flatten the scar then consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
i have these red
bumbs the look like pimples on my back, arms, and legs.
they are extremely itchy, and they hurt when touched. it
seems as though they spread quickly to other areas that
i itch. do you know what they are? how do i get rid of
them?
Answer
You
are probably having acneform eruptions or pityrosporum
folliculitis and both the conditions can be effectively
treated. Do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
hi im 15 years
old and i started shaving under my arms about more than
a year ago now,and i have developed a very itchy red
rash. Ive had it for about 2 weeks now and has got
worse. Its very irritated and blotchy like. it gets dry
so i put some e45 cream to moisten it. When i put my arm
down the underarm gets all wrinkly, its only on my right
arm. What can i do to help this?
Answer
Stop
shaving in the armpits in future and get the hairs
removed with scissors or a machine as this does not
injure the hair follices. Use a topical preparation
containing an antibiotic and hydrocortisone twice a day
for a few days and if this does not help consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
I am asian, about
a year ago, i peirced my belly button by myself, not
professionally, (i am now almost 14) anyways, i took the
ring out a while ago and let the hole heal up. i have
scar tissue there now. is there any way to get rid of
it??
Answer
Scars
usually fade in due course of time if they are
superficial and contractubex can help to some extent. If
this does not help consult a dermatologist.
Question,
For the past week
or so, the hair near my chin (a patch) was not growing.
I consulted a doctor and he said I had fungal
dermatitis.
He prescribed Terbinafine HCL Cream 1% and Mintop.
1) Is this fungal infection incurable?.
2) Will the hair on my chin grow back.
3) Can this infection spread to the rest of my body.
Any help is appreciated.
Answer
Use
the same cream for a couple of weeks. If it is fungal
infection the lesion should respond and the hairs will
grow back. If there is no response consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
Lately I have
been having this persistent problem with ringworms. I
have no pets and I take showers constantly from working
out. I have been using Lamisil and have been taking it
as prescribed but 3 weeks later the problem still exists
and so does the scarring. Since using it, the infection
has also been spreading to other parts of my body. I
have not been scratching and wash my hands. What is the
best approach for annoying ringworms? Also, if the
medication says use once a day for 1 week, should it
still appear or is it just healing? Please help I have
them popping up everywhere like chicken pox. Thank You
for your help.
Answer
If
Lamisil has not cleared your condition even after three
weeks probably it is not fungal infection or it is
resistant to lamisil. You better consult a dermatologist
and take the appropriate treatment.
Question,
From the looks of
it I must have very sensitive skin. I have 2 very
embarrassing problems. The first one is that I
continuously have back and chest breakouts and
blackheads. This is year round. I have tried a few
topical creams and retin A. None have worked. My other
problem is that my skin is severely sensitive in my
pubic area. I have coarse hair and shaving causes all
kinds of problems. My skin gets inflamed and blackheads
appear. When the hair grows back it is very itchy. The
blackheads and irritation never goes away completely. I
don't even shave often. All this breaking out is leaving
scarring. Is there anything to lessen the hair growth?
What would you suggest for this problem and for the
scarring? I am so embarrassed to wear a bikini and to
undress around others. Please help
Answer
On
your back you are probably having acneform eruptions and
for this take a course of systemic doxycycline and
topical clindamycin lotion. For the problem on your
pubic region (pseudofolliculitis), avoid shaving in that
area and if you have to, do so along the direction of
hair growth and never in the opposite direction. Topical
Retin A cream may help. If this does not help consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
ive had these
dark circles since i was 16. my mother also has them so
heridetry is one reason but she does not have as dark as
mine. recently i started taking alfacort which showed
positive changes but later some one told me that it is
an aesteroid and i should not use it. please guide me as
to whether i shud continue using it or not..(my
prescription is once daily at the moment)
Answer
Alfacort (hydrocortisone) is a mild steroid and it can
be used on the face. If you have responded well for this
now start using it on alternate days for a couple of
weeks and later make it once in three days and gradually
stop.
Question,
I work with a
lady who has a green and black substance ouzing from her
skin. I am very concerned about this, because not only
is it gross-looking, but we work in a restaurant, and
need to bring this matter to the owner's attention. What
is this, and what causes it? Is it contagious?
Answer
Without examination it is not possible to guess what
this lady is suffering from. Persuade her to consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
I have just come
back from Cali, USA, I live in London, UK. It was really
hot there and I tend to sweat more than most people.
While I was I got little red pimples on my cheeks, I
think this was heat rash. 4 or 5 days before I returned
to the UK I got these really large red bumps on my left
forearm and a few on my forehead. We had had a BBQ that
day I just thought I might have been bitten by something
and ignored it. Since returning the first spots have
sort of healed only leaving a small scab but new itchy
spots have started appearing on my face and neck, one on
my stomach and one on my leg. I dont know what this is,
I have made an appointment to see my doctor (Friday)
just thought I could possible get some advice from you.
Thank you

Question,
I have recently
been diagnosed with condition called fordyce. I have
been told that there is no treatment and it is
hereditary. There are small clusters of white bumps on
my lips and my lips feel as if they are burning and are
dry. I am using carmex chap stick with sunscreen to
soothe my lips. However the burning sensation still
persists. I was wondering if there is any remedy that

Answer
Fordyce condition is asymptomatic. It equires no
treatment and sometimes it clears slowly on its own. For
the dryness and burning sensation of the lips you use a
sunscreen while going out in the sun and a
hydrocortisone ointment in the night for a few days. If
the condition does not respond do consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
I have what I
first thought was a wart on the inside of my left thumb.
A few days ago it became very painful so I pulled off
what I thought might be the black seed -- it started
bleeding and since that time it will bleed spontaneously
for no apparent reason. Is there any reason for concern?
Thank you.
Answer
You
are probably having a pyogenic granuloma (a benign
vascular growth) and this condition bleeds with even a
very slight disturbance. Get it removed with electric
cautery by a dermatologist.
Question,
Hi, im an 18
year-old male who has recently discovered a bump(lump)
under the skin on the left side of my neck. I went to
webmd and discovered it may be several things, the two
most plausible answers i came up with were either
swollen glands or lipoma. After all, its small, felt
under the skin, movable, soft and rubbery, doesn't hurt
and i might have possibly had this for a while without
knowing it. From my findings im pretty sure it shouldn't
be concerous since most lumps aren't. Still, i suffer
from anxiety(bipolar) and am really afraid of a problem
of this nature. Should i see a doctor to get it
romoved(since its suppost to grow slowly) or should i
ignore it? Please help..
Answer
Any
swelling in the neck should not be neglected. Consult a
physician at the earliest.
Question,
I am 20 years old and since the last two years
I have been having severe acne problems on my back. I
have tried many products but the redness still stays.
Some doctors say the redness goes away after time but
I've been having them for two years now. Any advice on
how to get my skin back to almost normal color?
Answer
Acne
on the back is likely to be chronic and fades after many
years. It usually gets exagerated during stressful
periods. Moderate acne on the back usually responds to
systemic tetracyclines with topical clindamycin or
erythromycin. If it is severe you may have to take
systemic Roaccutane. Consulta dermatologist and take the
proper advice.
Question,
i have little
tiny blisters on only my hands they itch real bad they
have a watery ooze when scrated open. what could this
be?
Answer
You
probably have a type of hand dermatitis called pomholyx.
It is mostly stress related. A midpotent to potent
topical steroid preparation with systemic antihistamines
can clear the condition. In severe conditions in
addition to these a syatemic steroid therapy is
required.
Question,
My armpit starting to get dark because of the
deodorant that i use everyday. Is there an easy
treatment to whiten my armpit?
Answer
Your
treatment depends on the seveirty of the darkening which
can be assessed only after clinical examination. If you
are sure that the pigmentation is due to the deodorant
stop using the same and try a new one.
Question,
I had sunburn on my lips- it would get worse
and worse everyday. Now it's just one big scab on my
lip. It looks like I have chocolate on them. What can I
do to help the scab go away? It's so embarrising.
Answer
You
have actinic cheilitis (Inflammation of the lips
secondary to sun sensitivity). Always use a topical
sunscreen when going out in the sun. Scabs can be
removed by topical compresses with saline. You can use a
topial antibiotic with hydrocortisone cream thrice a day
till the present condition clears. Till then avoid
exposure to sunlight. Do consult a dermatologist for
further advice.
Question,
I have been
getting these dark bumbs on my outer thighs, and they
are bumbs under the skin that are just dark. They hurt
to the touch, but I try not to mess with them, and when
the swelling goes down, the dark spot is left there as a
scar. What could this be? And, is there anything I can
put on it like aloe or something? I thought is was maybe
the sweets so I drink water more, but they still come
back. Help.
Answer
You
are probably having recurrent folliculitis over your
thighs. You may require a course of systemic
antibiotics. Get a culture and sensitivity of the
discharge done and take the appropriate antibiotics.
Question,
I think I have a wart on the inside of my
pinkie finger. When i applied over the counter medicine
(the acid medicine)i noticed small clearish itchy clear
puss filled bumps on the other side of my pinkie finger.
I have been trying to find out what these are and if i
indeed have a wart on my pinkie finger. the wart (if
that is what it is)is hard, raised above the skin and
has dark black dots in it. Could you please tell me what
the bumps and possible warts really are? I need your
help!!!
Answer
From
your descriptions it appears that you have a wart on
your penis (pinky finger). If it is so it is sexually
transmitted and genital warts are caused by human
papilloma virus.Further get your blood examined for a
VDRL test and an elisa test for HIV and also get your
partner examined. Genital warts usually respond well to
topical podophyllin therapy.

i have small flat
purplish colored spots on my inner thighs, buttock and

before what was it and hwo did they get rid of it. thank

Answer
Without examination it is difficult to guess the
diagnosis from your description alone. Do consult a
dermatologist.
Question,
since the age of
13 i have had dark skin in the upper inner thigh. my
legs are really fair but that area is blacky/brown. is
there anything i can do to get rid of it
Answer
The
upper and inner part of thighs are usually a shade
darker in most of the adults. The darkness can be more
in obese persons because of constant friction between
the thighs. If you are overweight or obese reduce your
weight. If the pigmentation persists a topical 2%
hydroquinone cream can reduce the pigmentation. If there
is no response do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
im 14 and a
virgin and i have a what fills like a blister or a over
large bump on the back of my vagina not the front but
the back. please tell me what it is i only had it for
about 4 days and havent told my parents yet. is it
serious?
Answer
You
are probably having a folliculitis and this usually
responds to topical antibiotic therapy. If it is
persisting do consult your family physician. It is
always wise to let your parents know whenever you have
any health problem.
Question,
My daughter has ring worm on her chest, and
she is only 1, what can I give her to get rid of it?
Answer
Ring
worm infections respond well to topical micanazole or
clotrimazole creams if the area involved is small. Do
confirm the diagnosis before starting the treatment.
Question,
my 10 yr. old son had a red bump on his upper
arm. he has had this for several months. I have tried to
drain it/and or pop it, but nothing comes out. After I
do this,it appears to be smaller but returns to the
normal size shortly after. It causes him no pain, and
does not itch.
Answer
From
your description it is difficult to guess the diagnosis.
Do consult a dermatologist.
Question,
About a year and a half ago i got these
pimples looking things on my thing. They really look
like pimples so i don't know if it is herpes or not.
When i go to squeeze them, they pop just like a pimple
and they are on the bottom of my thing. I have done some
things that i am not proud of that i can't discuss and
mabye u can guess them but i really need to know if it
is herpes or not, They don't itch or hurt, and i am
really confused about that. PLEASE PLEASE PLAESE it is
really important thank you
Answer
From
your description it appears that you have developed
molluscum contagiosum and this is a viral infection.
When this comes on the genitalia it is mostly sexually
transmitted. They can be got rid of by curettage.. Do
consult a dermatologist. Besides get your partner
examined for evidence of the same. Also get the relevent
blood tests done for both of you. Here is a small piece
of advise: "Avoid premarital and extramarital sex and if
it is inevitable always use a condom".
Question,
is gentital
herpes cureable, if it is what can i do to cure it, if
it isn't what can i do to prevent breakouts thank you
again
Answer
Genital herpes is not curable and you can not prevent
breakouts. Do not panic. Genital herpes is a localised
viral infection and the systemic complications are very
rare. Mild to moderate recurrennces clear within a few
days even without any treatment. Severe recurrent
episodes respond well to a course of systemic acyclovir
or valcyclovir or famcyclovir. As the years pass by the
frequency of recurrences become less and less and
finally the recurrence may stop after a couple of
decades.
Question,
I'm a seventy five year old male, and from
time to time a small pinkish (intensely itchy) area will
appear on the outside of either my left or right arm
between my wrist and my elbow. I have never had it on
any other part of my body.
The itch is so intense, that it wakes you up at night,
and it is impossible to resist the urge to scratch it.
It usually ends up as a large raw sore.
These lesions started appearing about 13 years ago. One
year after I had accidentally disturbed a large wasps
nest and ended up with about fifteen to twenty stings on
each arm and a couple on my neck.
The itch of those wasp stings was, as I recall, just as
intense as these lesions.
When the lesions first appear, it's an irregular round
area, (barely visible) about 1/4 inch in diameter and
starts to itch. Looking at the area with a strong
magnifying glass, you can see small (pinhead size)
eruptions in the skin. The area affected, becomes
pinkish and feels warmer than the unaffected area of my
arm. These lesions always appear in the area of my arm
where I had most of the stings.
It takes weeks for the condition to clear up and usually
leaves a scare, because of the scratching.
None of the over-the-counter or prescription medicines
for controlling itch works, but rather seems to make it
worse.
They appear mostly during the summer, especially if it's
hot and humid.
Could this be a reaction to those wasp stings. If you
don't think so, what do you think it might be?
Answer
You
are probably having a condition called papular urticaria
or a prurigo simplex. This condition responds well to
topical potent steroids and systemic antihistamines.
Probably this condition is secondary to the wasp stings
you had earlier and it is persisting because you are not
able to control the itching. Please do consult a
dermatologist and take his advice.
Question,
i am 18 years old
and for as long as i can remember my legs have been
covered in moles/freckels and i have always hated them.I
have approx 15-20 on each leg.I know this doesnt seem

upsetting and anoying when it is hot.Is there any cream
or method i can use at home to remove them safetly.i
have started to result to scratching them off with my
finger nails and then put anitbacteria cream on the
wound once i have lightened the skin.Could this be
dangerous and cause skin cancer
Answer
Freckles are harmless and they can be got rid of by
superficial electric cautery or chemical peeling. Moles
can become malignant in whites. Do not scratch them off.
Please consult a dermatologist and take his or her
advice.
